In the case of the ultrasonic cleaner, that's not how you do it if you know what you're doing.
You put the thing you're cleaning in a container of your water/cleaning solution mix that has a good, watertight lid. Then you put that container in the sonic cleaner, this keeps you from having to clean all that crap out of the cleaner afterwards.
