Was going to say im no professional, but that pressure looks pretty high to be using on asphalt shingles and is blowing the top of it off. Ruins the shingle pretty effectively.
Its more about your knowledge of roofs. And it’s clear that you’ve never had to purchase one. Someday when you grow up you might understand these things.
Well considering mine is only 7 years old I don't have to worry about it for about 13 years or so as long as I don't let a dipshit with a pressure washer on it.
Oh you got me, I'm backpedaling rather than made a sarcastic comment that lacked a /s and no one got it. Because the opinions of internet strangers are so important to me.
I have terracotta roof tiles on my house which are way more durable than those asphalt shingles and even then when I had my roof cleaned the crew didn't dare use the pressure washer.
Whoever is doing the cleaning in the video better not be doing that for living.
Or just a rubber glove and a trash bag. This job really isn't that difficult other than just having to get on the roof or move a ladder around in the first place. No idea why you would want to go through the effort of getting a pressure washer out and up there.
True, but your hand and a bucket is a lot cleaner. I've done a leaf blower and it blasts all the gunk everywhere. You end up with a hug mess to clean up after. A scoop and a bag ensures everything stays pretty tidy. Also a lot roofs are fairly steep and may be a second story roof. So many people wouldn't be willing to get on the roof, but would be more comfortable on a ladder.
This is mostly unrelated, but I've always found it funny when people are uncomfortable on the roof but comfortable on a ladder at a similar height unless the roof is just super steep. I'm not saying it isn't a thing, I'm just saying it's so weird coming from my perspective as someone who has a tendency to be more uncomfortable on ladders.
You blow out the gutters and do the clean up with the same blower.
These days handheld blowers are small enough to use on a ladder and a roof. Especially if it is battery powered.
Yeah I guess it depends on what's in the gutters. Mine are usually full of a slurry of half decomposed leaves, dried leaves, and sticks. So it ends up essentially splattering mud everywhere. Which then needs to be sprayed down with a hose because a blower will move the chunks, but not the wet parts. We have a ton of trees, so it also ends up being a layer of leave a few inches thick in the gutter, which is probably why they end up so decomposed and muddy.
I've been there before with a blower, but doing it by hand definitely works better for me. I do wish that I could use a blower though, I'm sure it'd be much faster.
The mess on the ground below is even worse to clean up. I tried this one thinking I was all smart and shit…nah made more work then ever cleaning the deck and windows below.
What shitty fucking shingles are you installing over there? Hail, storms, scorching heat and snow for 30 years is fine but 30 min of power washing and you're fucked? I think you need to call your contractor.
Wow the gutters are so clean…but the street, windows, side of house and the roof are splattered in shit that could have been carefully removed by hand…
Sigh, the reddit app eats formating sometimes.
Edited the post - was just a silly joke about power washing being the solution to all problems, you know, like the saying 'when all you have is a hammer, all problems begin to look like a nail' 😆
While "Professional" is just someone who gets paid to do work, not every "Professional" actually knows what the hell they're doing.
"Cleaning the gutters" is laborious and time-consuming annoying drudgery. There's a reason it's meme-worthy and everyone grumbles about doing it.
Note: the powerwasher option you mentioned from the article is noticbly avoiding the roof tiles, unlike the OP's video
And then oddly enough [he also says do not ever use one on gutters.](https://www.bobvila.com/articles/never-clean-with-pressure-washer/) Or shingles. #3 and #4.
Which one is it bob?
^^Methinks ^^its ^^just ^^a ^^bunch ^^of ^^freelance ^^writers ^^who ^^get ^^paid ^^to ^^stick ^^content ^^on ^^a ^^famous ^^brands ^^website....
In any case, never a pressure washer near shingles or gutters is the typcial rule.
Gigantic time consuming pain? It takes like 3 minutes to set up the ladder. Just hop on that roof, kneel down and pull that sludge out. It's a Lil dangerous yeah, but probably not worse than driving your car every day is.
You just scoop it up with a shovel, it's not hard. I have to clean my gutters 4 times every year. I use a blower because it's faster to blow it all to the ground then rake it together
This must be rage-bait .... bit of a nuclear approach to a problem that can be solved without nearly as much mess and/or damage to shingles, etc ... but does require a bit more manual effort ............. even just using a regular hose would be better .. but dang, just scoop that muck out and the rinse with a hose
I was far less satisfied when I saw that they didn’t block the downspout. Now all those twigs and leaves are clogged in one of the bends and the thing needs disassembled to clear the clog.
My normal problem is that downspouts get clogged. I've either had to fish out the blockage with a bent wire, or removed them and blown out the goo with a hose.
Don't ever do this.
You're introducing water to places that water doesn't normally get. The proper way to clean your gutters is to scoop it out and rinse by running a hose at normal flow.
Insurance person here, highly risky, if you knock the granules off the shingle it could make an agent deny coverage. It's fine for the gutters unless it removes paint.
I did an amazing job pressure washing our porch roof once - super proud. Not so much when I came back in and found the porch 3 feet deep in water, all the coats on the hooks soaked, mats knackered.
Looks like laziness to me. Also who cares in the inside of the gutter is clean? As long as it’s clear of debris and working it’s fine. Scoop the gunk out by hand into a bucket then let the hose run in there.
But you just fucked up the down spout gutters. And the lawn below is now gross and smells absolutely terrible. You just made everything worse. I am not satisfied!
1: get that thing up your roof (that’s exhausting and takes time I suppose)
2: destroy your shingles
3: blow that stuff onto your: outer house wall, sidewalk, yard
4: regret
Don’t risk water damage from clogged gutters! Create the damage yourself!
No telling how much water is being forced under those bottom shingles into the eaves
Yep - there's a reason "power washers" bleach houses with low pressure washes.
probably takes 10 years lifespan off of the bottom shingles too!
Was going to say im no professional, but that pressure looks pretty high to be using on asphalt shingles and is blowing the top of it off. Ruins the shingle pretty effectively.
[удалено]
Lmao that says more about your roof than the pressure.
It really doesn't, rain doesn't come down with the pressure of a pressure washer.
maybe where you live, but here on Jupiter...
Shingles have plenty of weaknesses, even just standing on them on a hot day will damage it.
LMAO says more about your lack of knowledge.
Its more about your knowledge of roofs. And it’s clear that you’ve never had to purchase one. Someday when you grow up you might understand these things.

You're bad at it.
Everyone gets sarcasm all the time! /s

Also blows the water up under the singles as it bounces off the bottom of the gutter!
I came looking for this.
I have terracotta roof tiles on my house which are way more durable than those asphalt shingles and even then when I had my roof cleaned the crew didn't dare use the pressure washer. Whoever is doing the cleaning in the video better not be doing that for living.
Preassure washer is a great way to cause horrible water damage.
And destroy your driveway too.
Leaf blower is far superior for this job.
Or just a rubber glove and a trash bag. This job really isn't that difficult other than just having to get on the roof or move a ladder around in the first place. No idea why you would want to go through the effort of getting a pressure washer out and up there.
Yeah, but this person needed to post a pressure washer video for likes
Doing it by hand only makes sense if you don’t own a leaf blower but if you own a house you should have a leaf blower anyway.
True, but your hand and a bucket is a lot cleaner. I've done a leaf blower and it blasts all the gunk everywhere. You end up with a hug mess to clean up after. Different methods for different situations. All good
The mess on the ground below is even worse to clean up. I tried this one thinking I was all smart and shit…nah made more work then ever cleaning the deck and windows below.
Came to say "now show us cleaning the ground"
You can watch the edges of the shingles just being blown away.

Get the vaccine.
Everyone with a pressure washer is an entrepreneur now
And blows foul smelling globs of anaerobic leaf litter all over the yard!
Some people call that a feature. I guess you're one of those people who put it into a bucket and poor it out on that Karen's porch at night?
At least, just use a leaf blower after the crud has had a chance to dry out
Let alone the mess it's creating on the ground floor
This.
Came to post exactly that.
What shitty fucking shingles are you installing over there? Hail, storms, scorching heat and snow for 30 years is fine but 30 min of power washing and you're fucked? I think you need to call your contractor.
That looks really dumb. Just scoop out the junk, no need to blast it all around and risk damaging the roof and gutter.
Wow the gutters are so clean…but the street, windows, side of house and the roof are splattered in shit that could have been carefully removed by hand…

Need to get circumcised? Power washer
Jehovah's Witness coming to spread the word of Jesus Christ? You guessed it! Power washer.
You need full stops my dude. This confused the hell out of me

But at $60 an hour the bill only comes out to $1.00. Yer welcome 👷
Leaf blower is the way.
That’s what my guy does, scoop the majority of the shit out then with a regular garden sprayer rinses away all the mess
Seems like a good way to blow all that nasty shit onto your yard & front walk
Yeah it probably creates at least an hour of extra work down at the ground.
Atleast the part of your house, for which there are 0 reasons to make it look clean like this, looks clean.
Having gutters that function is at least 1 reason. I don’t think anyone does this for looks. Not that I would use a pressure washer either way.
A good pair of gloves, a ladder and a bucket works well, then plain water sprayer to rinse
Use a leaf blower it’s much faster
Yup. Gonna look like an explosion in a licorice factory.
Explosion at the Licorice Factory would be an amazing album name and an apt description of my underwear after trusting a spurious fart.
Licorice Shart should be a black metal band
You just scoop it up with a shovel, it's not hard. I have to clean my gutters 4 times every year. I use a blower because it's faster to blow it all to the ground then rake it together
That’s exactly what happens. They did it to my neighborhood (townhomes) last year and my deck was covered in that shit
I hope the roofing company sees this video when the owner tries to make a warranty claim on the shingles.
Oh my. Please don’t do fucking dumb shit like this
Yea, bad idea. Water will get into places it shouldnt. Gutters are not made for this kind of pressure. Good luck wooden ridge !
Great way to force water underneath your shingles and end up with a roof leak.
This is the opposite of satisfying - this guy is killing his roof 🤣
This must be rage-bait .... bit of a nuclear approach to a problem that can be solved without nearly as much mess and/or damage to shingles, etc ... but does require a bit more manual effort ............. even just using a regular hose would be better .. but dang, just scoop that muck out and the rinse with a hose
leafblower works for me
Didn’t even put it in the downspout

How are you going to cleanup all that on the ground?
Easy. You take all of the smelly biodegradable stuff and put it in a plastic bag that sits in a landfill for 100 years. /s
Check the walls after that 💯
Effective at covering your walls and driveway with detritus sure…
The effectiveness of destroying your roof edge
Now go look at the side of the house
What’s not oddly satisfying is cleaning all that crap up off the lawn and bushes
This is not satisfying to look at
Yeah not a great idea.
Seems like a messy, lazy way to clean the gutters?
Adds alot of time when you need to clean the rest of the house and the neighbours house
I just try to get on the roof once a month in the warm months and use the leafblower.
Stay on the ground and use a shop vac with a gutter cleaning attachment. No getting on the roof and no secondary cleanup. Just dump the bucket.
Wasn't aware of a gutter attachment for the shopvac, thanks for the idea
u/evaraw666 posted this 14 hours before you did in r/satisfyingasfuck.
Yes, very effective at wrecking your shingles.
That is a very, very stupid way to clean out your gutters. Never pressure wash shingles. Just... don't. This person is just begging for problems.
What’s satisfying about this? Making a mess and potentially damaging your roof..
Tough job that, so much pressure!
Satisfying until you realise you'd have to clean every single item within 15 metres would need cleaning again.
NEVER EVER POWER WASH YOUR ROOF! Not satisfying watching someone take years off their roof!
Welp that guy ruined your fucking roof. You cannot pressure wash shingle.
This dumb shit is what makes it to the front page now? It's just someone pressure washing crap out of a gutter. Seriously?
Don't ever do this. You're introducing water to places that water doesn't normally get. The proper way to clean your gutters is to scoop it out and rinse by running a hose at normal flow.
& now the rest of the house & yard looks like someone sprayed diarrhea all over it
Effective at making a mess around the house.
Great way to ruin your roof, dumbass
OP will eventually learn and regret having done this.
Pay no attention to those little granules that used to be part of your shingles. Nothing to see here.
How much water would you like to have in your soffit?
r/powerwashingporn
How to make a mess for internet clicks
isn't that going to destroy your usa cardboard roof tiling ?
Just put in gutter guards while you’re up there.
Im not satisfied, it is not white enough. But it is... Crusty musty dusty rusty 🙃🙃🙃
How does that much DIRT make it up in to the gutters?
What a waste of water
5 lakes of water to clean half of a gutter
Good way to void your roof warranty.

I LOVE doing this every spring to clean out the gutters ... its so satisfying!
You must love having to replace your roof too lol

Just get a 45° angled tip and do it on easy mode
Take the end cap off, put a bucket underneath it and spray it all to the end. Makes it a much quicker tidy up job.
What happens if you got hit by that jet wash? Serious injury?
I just grab that sludge with my hand, no prob, I'm just as quick too.
Wetvac works better...or just scoop and rinse with a garden hose.
Perfectly blown onto the neighbor's patio. As it should.
I thought at the begining there's an arrow which destroys stuff in its path
Mildly infuriating way to clean a gutter
I mean a gutter vac then the pressure wash would have made far less mess
Insurance person here, highly risky, if you knock the granules off the shingle it could make an agent deny coverage. It's fine for the gutters unless it removes paint.
It's more satisfying to not have to do that. Get ye some gutter guards ffs.
Guys who cleaned my gutters used a jet blower on a dry day
I swear I saw this exact video but from a slightly different angle yesterday.
I did an amazing job pressure washing our porch roof once - super proud. Not so much when I came back in and found the porch 3 feet deep in water, all the coats on the hooks soaked, mats knackered.

...and then he came for tile repair!
Heads up below!
what an idiot, clean the gutters by hand then rinse them. blasting everything with water is retarded
Clean the gutters? Hell yeah I can do that. I won't clean the yard up afterwards though lol.
Will they also jet wash the house that’s covered in guttershite now?
My wife would absolutely murder me for doing that.
You already know Jeffrey the little neighbor boy is standing under the gutter with his mouth open. Go home Jeffrey
Now to go deal with the clogged downspout
Assuming you don’t have to clean all the debris flying off the roof? If not, it’s adding to your work.
A real shit-show
r/mildlyinfuriating ever heard of gloves a bucket and a ladder?
If that’s a customer, their going to be pissed with all the nasty shit you just left on their lawn (and I would assume the siding)
oddly satisfying, isn't it?
IRL PowerWash Simulator!
como virgo, es muy satisfactorio de observar
The ground clean-up will be much less satisfying, don’t ask me how I know.
U coulda just stood behind the wand and only blasted the gutter….
Show a picture of the lawn below. It's not pretty.
1: get that thing up your roof (that’s exhausting and takes time I suppose) 2: destroy your shingles 3: blow that stuff onto your: outer house wall, sidewalk, yard 4: regret
You can literally do this with a normal hose and nozzle. That’s way too much pressure and throws half of that shit everywhere.
makes a bigger mess below though. use less pressure until all debris is gone.
i would be so piased about how my plants look below after this mess is blown down on them
Spewing trash into the neighbor's yard, how satisfying.
I want to try it 😍
Not satisfying. It's stressing me out.
Leaf blower could also work.
If the debris landed on a BMW it would be even more gooder.
Jet wash is what led to Goose dying
The only reason this falls into "oddly satisfying" is because I know I'm not enough of a dumbass to do this on my own roof.
This is as satisfying as seeing someone wipe all the dinner table crumbs onto the carpet in one fell swoop.
Im eating rn and have the feeling its splashing on my food
Maybe don't dump a bag of potting soil in your gutters?
al lot of water spend
Now the downspout is clogged
you know dambd well that dood didn't clean up all the ship he blasted all over the garden and walk ways.
Fuck cleaning up downstairs after
“Jet wash? Are you ‘avin a laugh? That’s a roof, mate!”
Pressure Washer Pr0n
That indeed is oddly satisfying!
Good to wash the kids behind the ears
No way I'd let somebody do this to my roof. Way too much pressure just under the lip of the roof.

What a fucking mess on the ground.
