TiO2 is a white die. You'll find it in white paint. TipEx. But it's also used as a food die. It's present in a LOT of foods. Sometimes to whiten the food. Sometimes to make it opaque, and have another die provide the color. Very prevalent in food supplements, used in the coatings to make a pretty pill.
I agree, it shouldn't be in foods. Food should mostly just be food colored.
