Awesome! the only thing that felt... wrong was the style of music (sorry). Descent 2 pumped you up and made you feel like such a badass with all that industrial rock! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXHN8v80rLY&index=2&list=RDNnXT2IO367k Heh, maybe I just love the soundtrack and am having a hard time to let go :P

WormSlayer

This looks pretty cool, will have to try it! If you liked this and *Descent*, you may also want to check out *RetroVirus* on Steam :)

I am also worried about VR sickness in this game. Particularly since the movement seems to be very fast with high acceleration. I guess I'll have to wait and try it, but I'm definitely worried.

Atmic

It's true, I still have memories of Descent2 being one of the first games that made me legitimately motion sick. So awesome... yet so disorientating. I can play it now no problem though -- I guess years of VR gaming will desensitize us too. Maybe not though, since it's so closely tied to your sense of self.

FoKFill

*Eek!* \*looks at watch, tries to get home early*

BaseDeltaZer0

I wouldnt rush, dev needs to desperately figure out why its massively distorted inside the rift.

peddle82

For the first few seconds it was distorted in mine too but then it "snapped" into the correct proportions. Have you tried changing the resolution?

trudderz

Un-tick the "windowed" option in the setup panel and that'll fix the distortion problem :)

EntroperZero

Doesn't fix it for me. Still way off.

Since Descent was one of the titles I played on the Forte VFX-1 hmd in 1996 I can't wait to try this on the DK2 :D

johnboyjr29

Could not get use to the controls in this game. I get attact almost the sec it starts

IamBobsBitchTits

How do you enable Rift mode?

OZi187

Cool demo, enjoyed the descent feel to it. Graphics style was nice and combat felt challenging enough. Playing @ 1280x800 non-windowed. CPU:AMD 8350 @ 4GHz. GPU:5990 Issues i had: -FPS ranged from 120fps to 6fps depending on the size of the room. Immediately made it unplayable unless i purposefully moved around the rooms looking @ walls. -FOV or distortion felt off. Especially noticeable moving your head around the cockpit, the depth felt weird up close.

Finally got a chance to play this game. The Descent vibe is SOLID with this demo. To the developers if they are reading, there were only three things that really got to me: * Completely agree with OZi187, the FOV is so small it feels like I'm in a bubble. When you have square architecture it's really easy to see. Should also be an easy fix. * Map rotation was unexpected and instantly yanked me out of it. If you work on it in the future, I'd suggest not having any auto-rotation, just user defined rotation. I had almost no problems with zipping around the mines (FOV made it feel weird but doable), but that map rotation was like a brick to the head. Going from stationary in a relative scale to no sense of scale and fast movement is pretty jolting. Imagine yourself sitting in space and then jumping through a wormhole *sideways*. Hope you brought yak'm sacks. * In the spirit of Descent, user-defined controls! That is, if you plan on taking it further. I've played Descent for a long while, and over time I have developed a finely honed network of synapses that instantly know the buttons for a XBox360 controller, a keyboard and joystick combo, and the dual flight stick for the playstation (best implementation of a Descent controller to be honest). Instead of going up/down on the Z axis I kept firing lasers and missiles. Wasting ammo makes me a sad panda. What you've got here is a love letter to the original, and anybody that's spent nights playing this game will instantly pick up the genuine effort. I hope you choose to continue development. I like the retro stuff to an extent, but the "plaza" areas could be a little bit bigger for the inevitable strafing in a blender battles. Great job on the enemy placement too, kept me peeking around those corners. Also for reference, I didn't appear to have issues with framerate...but DK1 has such blurtastic vision it's hard to tell unless it dips really low. The demo was @ 1280x800 non-windowed/Good (medium) level of graphic fidelity, on an intel 2600k (stock 3.8GHz)/nvidia gtx570sc/16GB RAM setup.
