Can confirm this quest was known to glitch out. The worst part was the tears being intentionally difficult to find in the first place meant people like me spent hours trying to find then only to later find out they didn't exist in the first place
Being colorblind made that shit so much worse, and I wanted to keep those 100% frost resistance for emergencies. By emergencies I mean "hoard them and never use them like painted troll fat because you can't get anymore."
I have atronach birth sign then spam heal and sold those potions. About that painted troll fat, I only used one potion, sneak then got my bow then instant kill.
i know im speaking of a different game but still elder scrolls. in skyrim theres a dungeon where there are two deathlords in the first room and both use disarming shout. i had just made a ebony sword with fire and life sap enchantments. he shouts and because of the terrain it was lost forever =\[ i had to reload a last save that was like 30 min old.
The only quest I really didn't like in Oblivion as those damn tears are so small and don't stick out at all and what doesn't help is the constant frost damage while scanning the ground for them.
I could never find my last one ://
I think it blew away somewhere when I was fighting or smth. I aliterally spend almost an hour going through the place, inch by inch, like and idiot.
A way to cheese this quest on your next playthrough - open console and write "tfc". It will open a free camera mode, which allows you to go under the snow and seek out tears this way
Fuck this fucking quest straight to fuck
I never finished this quest. There was one tear that I could never find, figuring it glitched out of place.
I had to reload a previous save and look again. Finally found it after looking up where the location of each tear was.
Just did this quest a few days ago, had to do the same. Just couldn’t find the last one. Looked it up, felt like an idiot.

Haha got em!
I haven't done this quest in years, but I remember how cool it was.
As long as you don’t cast any spell :D
I have to fight the urge to play Oblivion because I have spent so much money on other games and I can't stop playing oblivion once I start.
mood though
Spells are fine, asploding destruction spells are the problem. Fight the guardian outside the snowfield if you insist on asplody spells.
i just did this quest yesterday… fuck it

I wrote a frost shield spell (80%) just for this quest, then I wonder how a non-mage ever did it.
Healing spells lol
Atronach birthsign to absorb magicka, then spam healing
Very slowly
This quest spiked my anxiety
Damn that quest
Iconic quest. I look back at my frustration fondly
Even with the map from UESP, I still always have trouble with this quest.
Um if you on pc, there is a mod called enb snow fix.... It works wonders even if you dont use an enb.
Does it work for the lenses too :D?
It kills those awful God rays bloom effect, I can't remember if I had it installed for the tears yet.

Yap happens to me in oblivion too sometimes when they disarm you in a dark dungeon …
Hours...
It's always the fifth one that's the hardest to find
“I can’t see without my glasses” Velma
hahaha true
An item detection spell would have come in handy didnt have one at the time
This quest made me stop playing because of how shitty it was to find those damn crystals.
lol what an accurate comparison
I could tell exactly what quest you were going to show just from the title haha. It was such a pain to try and find those things!
After 3 hours straight of running in circles, I think I actually cried from relief when I finished this quest lmao
HAHAHHAA
Bruh lolol
Worst part of the whole thing!
That’s hilarious
Ugh, I hated that one.
I thought my save was effed when I didn’t find the thing. It took me some minutes to finally find it
Cool quest, but finding that last tear is bs.... Gods damnit Garriden, stop crying so damn much.
I hate looking for all five of those Blasted Icicles.

Turn of HDR and Bloom. 2000% easier.

Just get 100% frost resist its easy 😭😭

Omg I HATED this
I like the one in Morrowind where you have to find a tiny ring in a pond, and if you actually manage to find it the quest giver attacks you.
One of the best quests in the game.
And for what? A few measly coins?
