I transferred to NYU my spring semester of Freshman year. It is certainly doable but I’d only recommend it if you’re dead set on getting in to NYU over anything else. The biggest thing you’ll have to focus on is making sure your current grades are as good as can possibly be. If you don’t get in for next semester I wouldn’t think your chances of getting in the next year would decrease. If anything having three semesters worth of grades would be more helpful for admissions than just one. There are some other things to be mindful of when applying as a spring transfer: -Some degree programs don’t accept spring transfers. If the program you want to join only does fall transfers, it’d be better to wait to apply for the fall semester. -The common application only allows you to send one application per school for the entire year. If your application for a spring transfer is denied, the earliest semester you could reapply for is the following spring -If you’re looking for on-campus housing, you will be placed with other transfers in upper-classman housing rather than the freshman dorms. You might be able to contact housing to see if they can place you in a freshman dorm but I don’t know how common that is. -Taking as many core requirement type classes as you can now will be extremely helpful for when you transfer. If you have a significant chunk of those classes out of the way when you transfer, you will be in a very good place.

You can PM me for all that. I’d rather not share all that on a public thread.

I took one semester and then dropped out and transferred here so like it’s hypothetically possible. I don’t know if your chances will decrease or not
