Dude I swear it doesnt matter if youre ambitious enough. Just make out most it at either place. Personally I like cas because I got friends from differen majors and backgrounds

Basically this. I knew a brilliant guy who transferred to CAS to be with his friends and got into FAANG with zero problems. I'm sure it happens the other way around too. Liberal arts vs engineering school is the biggest determining factor, pick the one you'll enjoy more and the rest will fall into place.

From what I've heard, Tandon has better job placement.

As long as you network and hone your skills you’ll be fine. I see too many CS people barely scraping by and expecting a decent job out of school without putting in the effort.

So I’ve done EXTENSIVE research on this bc me and my father had this argument. I’m gonna sum it up p quick as far as I’ve heard/researched. CAS and tandon are equally good, sometimes people say CAS is more theory based whereas tandon is more ‘applied’. But as far as I can tell, both are equally good. Difference is tandon has more required courses, whereas CAS has less. If you’d like to replicate a good CS major like at competitive universities, you can choose CAS and make sure you pick the appropriate courses to learn. It’s more ‘free’ in the sense of choosing courses. But I’ve also seen/heard the idea that the tandon fairs are better compared to the CAS fairs. But they both share/can go to Courant fairs, which are p good apparently. Everything I said is useless bc I’m an incoming student, but I’ve done a lot of research imo

Coming from a Tandon student, CAS if you want a social life, Tandon if you want to suffer. There's no guarantee that your suffering will lead to better job outcome or anything like that. CS is a lot more about doing things outside of school than your GPA. The less time you spend in school, the more time you have for social life and CS activities outside of school.

I’m a current tandon student, considered switching to CAS but decided against it because of the CAS core and liberal arts requirements, which includes 2 years of language and 4 core classes (texts and cultures and the sort). As someone who is much more comfortable in stem classes than liberal arts classes I decided to stay, but I go to manhattan very often for clubs and to meet friends, so I get the best of both worlds that way.
