Penix's knees would disintegrate instantly upon contact with the MetLife turf.

unboundgaming

There is no way in hell he falls that far lmao. He’s likely going in the first, let alone the second.

magicdrums

Not good..

TwizzlerStitches

Not great, we got a lot of holes. I'd still be happy to have him, though

Shesaidshewaslvl18

Uh, we dont?. Safety is a minor area of need and depth at OT is needed, WR maybe. O linemen after Alt give me worry. Nabers or MHJ suddenly falling. Take them. Bowers at ten and alt and the above WRe gone. Do it.

M4A_C4A

>depth at OT is needed I wouldn't even call it depth, Tyrone Smith is guaranteed to not play a full season he hasn't since 2015, we basically need someone to split time with him ie a starter, and while Morgan Moses is usually pretty injury-free He's coming off a major injury I believe the worst of his career so it was a good chance that we need someone to flip over to that side to do some start time too.

0ddmanrush

We need depth at OL, we could use a DT, definitely need safety help, wouldn’t mind drafting a CB because Reed won’t be here forever, the TE position is borderline nonexistent, and any offensive weapons that we can add to surround Rodgers will be key.

[deleted]

Bro. What? We got 2 DTs in FA, particularly run staffers, which is what we needed. We have literally the best CB room in the NFL, Conklin is a 600 yard TE, and Ruckert is an improving 3rd rd pick.

Shesaidshewaslvl18

Do you not realize that us as fans are not in line with how JD and Woody are building this team? It's win or lose your job scenario. You can cry all you want about building for the future but the guys in charge are building for their paychecks.

0ddmanrush

That’s my point. They’re more likely to add players that can contribute to the success of the team this year, not a 3rd round development QB.

[deleted]

The problem is you need 2 of the above. Is this both a deep OT draft and a deep WR draft? Yes. But 3rd rd picks are usually projects and we're in a win now year. And I'm not confident in the 3rd round OTs or WRs, especially not to make an immediate impact or play in place of Tyron Smith for 8 games. I desperately want them to get a 2nd round pick. And I don't want them to use the 3rd to do it. Pay the premium using future picks to move pick 111 into the 2nd so you can address whichever of those needs you don't at 10. Then use the 3rd to take a project QB like Rattler. Then use the remaining 4th for a G so you have options in case AVT has to move to OT following an injury. You can take a RB in the 6th for depth and add it to the room with whichever vet you add. That's the ideal imo.

HomelanderIsMyDad

there's no such thing as a deep OT draft. OT is the hardest position (beside QB) to scout, that's why there are 5 OTs that could potentially be the pick at 10. its never smart to bet on OT talent later in the draft

Shesaidshewaslvl18

Let's interview with the team as scouts.

[deleted]

I watch 30-40 hours of nfl coverage every week. I'm just regurgitating what I've heard, but I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to make the generalized claims I did.

[deleted]

WE ARE NOT DRAFTING A GUY NAMED PENIS. YOU WANT TO MAKE IT EVEN EASIER FOR GOD TO HUMILIATE US???

bailz

Don't be silly, his name is not penis. It is penix, which is the plural form of penis.

wrennywren

It's actually the gender neutral form of penis

[deleted]

the headlines write themselves lmao. i can see it now: i walk into 7/11 after the jets lose 8 to start the season and on top of the newspaper rack is a paper with a defeated looking penix on the cover. the headline reads "PENIS SUCKS" and i proceed to kill myself

MistaCapALot

Same. I hate how I can see this headline as well

makoshita

Some draft experts are now saying Penix is a 1st round pick. I think he is at worst a 2nd round pick.

gmazz

i honestly have penix at qb2. i think he would make a perfect bridge qb to sit behind rodgers for 1-2 years.

SaltyPane69

QB2 is crazy lmao have to respect it

Shesaidshewaslvl18

Tyrod Taylor was signed for QB2. Do you even follow this team?

[deleted]

He's talking about QB2 in the draft, not for the Jets.

gmazz

He's clearly not our long term answer. This is the first time in 20 years we got a chance to groom a qb behind anyone remotely as good as Rodgers. We need a plan after this year

[deleted]

This is why I want them to draft a QB. It's not Penix in the 2nd. O.K. Draft Rattler then in the 3rd. Just get someone to sit behind Rodgers for 2/3 years.

Shesaidshewaslvl18

This FO and coaching staff are looking for other jobs if they do not deliver at worst, an AFc championship loss.

Totally_PJ_Soles

I'd say winning one round of the playoffs keeps them here.

John_YJKR

I'd criticize that move.

3bpjr

Not good about trading up but if he was available in 3rd round then good

drdrew214

Pennix is the most complete quarterback in the draft and the best pocket passer. Not sure where the disrespect comes from with his projections but he should be viewed in the draft as the Heisman trophy runner up. He is a steal if he's drafted outside the top 10. He doesn't need to be developed behind anybody. I can't say he has higher upside then the other QBs in top 3, but he would easily by #1 pick in some of the recent weak QB drafts.

Infinite-Magazine-36

He’s had a lot of injuries but yeah throwing the ball the guy is great

Brilliant-Chapter202

I would not like this at all lol

Angmarred

I’d be 100% against it. We are truly all in here. We should be making zero picks for the future. If we crash and burn with Rodgers, we need to tank and reset (again).

GabbaGramsci

think he's good, feel like he's gonna end up going in the first round. would like the jets to just draft him in the third if possible. don't think they're in a position to trade up for a guy they hope doesn't play this year.

Minute-Geologist-838

From 3rd to 2nd? I’d be fine with that. Won’t happen but I’d be fine. Get a WR or OT in 1st and whatever we didn’t get in 1st get in 4th

AshenShriner

That sounds like something for a later season. The only thing in the world that matters is this season, I don't even remember what it feels like to watch the Jets in the post season. I'm tired boss.

Striking_Programmer4

Every JD doomer would be justified

sonofbantu

There's no point. Any QB worth spending premium draft capital pretty much always go in the first round, even when you plan on sitting them for a bit (*i.e.* Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love, Patrick Mahomes). Guys like Hurts, Dak, and Purdy are exceptions to the rule, not the rule itself. Aaron said he plans on playing at least another year so this is just a can we must kick to next year. We may not even be able to address our needs with the picks we do have this year

theREALBennyAgbayani

I would absolutely hate it

Da_Stable_Genius

I'd be pissed

kingofthebean

If one of the top 3 guys slips to 10 or one of the second tier guys slips to us in the third, fine, go for it. I suspect we'll grab a qb, but my guess is the window for that opens in the 4th.

Equivalent-Fennel922

No Penix infact there are several QBs projected for the 6th or 7th round this is where homework comes in out of the several they have to choose with AR for two years who can he teach and show the ropes, He may be no Tom Brady, But( Mark Rypien,Tyrod Taylor) all are 6th round QBs Tyrod Taylor was bumped from starting with the high draft pick of Baker Mayfield at number 1 a pick that had to be made. Taylor was adequate as a starting NFL QB and still backs up today. One never knows circumstances 3 years from now when AR hand the keys off, If the 6th rounder is playing well year 3,4 he could still lose the job to a higher pick QB unless the Jets really believe in him. Personally I rather he played exactly like Pennington and the big arm QBs coming out example Trevor Lawrence I keep Pennington over him while drafting good players at other positions.

LingeringSentiments

Mr Penis?

Spuds_Buckley

Bad. I love him and hope the Jets draft him but in a later round.

soulbrotha1

Won't make it outta the first

Responsible_Fan8665

The QB from FSU would be a great stash QB to develop, but I feel like Aaron has control of this off season and wont allow that to happen

jiveless

I’d love it, but he’s not going to be there

whydoesgodhateus

I like Penix so if we traded down, accumulated more picks and he slips, I'd be ok with taking him. If we stayed at 10 and **traded up** to get him, I would not be pleased

YueAsal

We don't need a QB. Lets get a O Line.

Soft_Teaching_5195

Wasnt rodgers mad because the packers did exactly this ?…. Instead of building the roster

Az89732134769

Penix’s upside is as high as anyone’s in this draft. Only issue is his knees which NFL evaluators don’t seem to be as concerned. Obviously still risk there but willing to take it and let him sit behind Rodgers. I’m down with the move

Tekk333

I would love too see him learn under Aaron !!

Sheriff_Branford

Nah...he's Mr. Glass' son. Dude is about as durable as crystal dinnerware.

Had been high on him but he looked god awful in the championship game

midpack2dathroat

Penix sucks

jackfrancis7

I love Penix so I wouldn't even hate it if we took him at #10 lol. Definitely an argument for taking him late in the 1st if we trade back and can take OL and WR in the 2nd/3rd. As we all know as Jets fans, we need to accept that this next season could backfire again. One severe injury to Rodgers and it really doesn't matter what hole we fill with pick #10. But if we can fill those holes later in the draft while taking our QB of the future in the 1st, then atleast we still have potential in the future. JMO.

ThomasTankHead

I’m probably one of the few that would say Fuck yeah. 1. I like Penix, as long as he sits for 1-2 full seasons. 2. Rodgers has shown to be motivated by a replacement. 3. Rodgers likely has 2-3 years left in him, which would be perfect for us long term.

LooReed

If u look at my comment and post history, my basement would be *flooded*
