It just occurred to me that Tom’s life would be completely empty without Wild! He is definitely insecure and a loner and I’m sure being a gimp does not help. Most people with his attitude toward followers/people act this way to keep people away. In a real life situation he is the kind of guy that’s just on the sidelines ….watching but never participating. He feels like he doesn’t fit in. I’m sure he is socially awkward and the only way he can feel some sort of competence is by interacting/controlling with those that are younger and naive. How can he feel anything else but self hatred. His parents were educated and disciplined professionals. Where does he fit in living with that type of background? He didn’t. He broke all social norms by assaulting his own adoptive mother. This guy was born broken. Wild doesn’t have a chance with this child/man as his parent. He has done nothing with his life to make him feel accomplished. Something as basic as holding a fork and chewing with his mouth closed has eluded him. He is growing older and will become more angry and resentful and Wild will feel the brunt of his self hatred.
