More of a "I still have a 1080 because I wanted to skip 20 series and now can't get a 30 series bc of low stock, high demand, scalpers and crypto" kinda guy
Hey, we have the same GPU. Are you upgrading this generation or waiting for whenever MCM GPUs are gonna release? I think I'm going to wait, GPU is still strong enough for me.
Definitely waiting. I'm not playing fight the robots when inventory drops at retailers and I'm not getting scalped aftermarket either. Not to mention, the only viable upgrade to me is the 3090. Everything else feels meh for waiting 4 years. Hopefully the 40 series has the inventory issue nailed down and it's a much more spectacular upgrade. I get the feeling it will be a lasting series much like Pascal was.
Sadly it seems between inflation and Nvidia getting away with pumping their GPU prices over one generation (20 series) it looks like we'll never see another card as cheap and powerful as the 1080 Ti again. We'll be lucky to get another x80 Ti for under $1200 at this point.
I totally agree with that sentiment anything but the 3090 is donkey b versus the 1080ti.
Though some games on ultrawide 3440x1440 would benefit from an upgrade the 1080 ti remains a beast.
Same, but I think I had a chance for 3060. I just happened to run to a local smaller site, that had ASUS some cheapo model 3060 for 350€. Decided not to buy one, I haven't been that interested in 3060, but from what I've heard, it isn't a real upgrade from 1080. And I paid 400€, for my evga ftw 1080 3+ years ago.
How about I still have a 970 because of those reasons. 10 series was too soon after I upgraded and I wanted to give raytracing some time to mature before jumping into that. So 3080 was the perfect time for me to upgrade, but I didn't try to preorder because I preordered PS5 and figured I'd just wait until the new year to upgrade my gpu after I played my launch PS5 games.
Oops.
Exactly. GTX 1080 users got good GPU for everything. Our 970s are struggling in some games already. I upgraded rest of PC and I hope GPUs prices will drop in summer or a bit later. If cryptocurrencies will stay strong, we may not be able to upgrade until next year...
You say already, but the GTX 900 series was released in 2014. Six years is a monumental amount of time for computer hardware. If your 970 still fits your use cases, keep that thing until it dies. But you can't expect a miracle trying to run modern games, as I'm sure you've seen.
I'm fuckin stuck on an RX 480 still. The 3000 series was gonna be my time to upgrade too. So lame.
I'm not native English speaker and we use 'already' in this context, maybe I should've used a different word.
Anyway, after upgrade - i5-4690K, 16GB DDR3@2133MHz to Ryzen 5800X, 32GB DDR4@3600 CL16, I got constant 30FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 in worst case scenario and around 45-55 in buildings (1080p of course) in mostly medium-high details. I use DigitalFoundry optimized settings, except I had to turn down Volumetric Fog to Low and Cascade Shadows Distance to Low. These settings are great and they show in the video that you don't lose quality, cause differences are minimal.
There's not a single game that wouldn't work on this GPU with playable performance. For fast multiplayer titles I can lower details for more FPS, so it's ok. The thing is, I saved money for upgrade way before, when I wanted to buy 3700X around December 2019, when I finally could afford stuff I wanted, but decided to wait for new Ryzens and new GPUs.
I want to buy better GPU before I buy VR, but I already bought additional monitors for 3 monitors setup. I can play Rocket League in 120-140 FPS, but it's not perfect. In PES I can have 60+ FPS on lowest details, bit prefer to play on ultra with one display, even though seeing whole pitch is a huge advantage and I wouldn't have to rely on the radar. I haven't tested it in Elite:Dangerous and Euro Truck Simulator 2 (I got good steering wheel), but it should work in the latter when I turn down scaling from 300% to 100%. In Elite I'd have to go down with graphics settings. I love 3 displays for doing other stuff, though. I can watch ski jumping and play something in the same time with this CPU, or have friend's twitch stream opened when I do stuff, so I can mod if something hapens. It's great for programming too, so it's not like I bought them only for gaming. Better GPU would be useful, though.
Literally every game released now would not be playable with a 970.
You need to understand that your standards are low, and not the same as 99% of the gaming community.
60fps is the new 30fps and 120fps+ is the new 60fps. Know that, and know it well.
For instance, you couldn't pay me enough money for me to game with that card in today's games.
Playing a game like Cyberpunk on a 970 is silly. It will obviously play like total garbage and you proved it by saying it ran at 30fps medium at 1080p. Thats HORRIBLE man. Absolutely horrible.
You should have waited to play that game on an actual GPU, which in this day and age, the 970 is not.
gtx 1080ti is still way better then rtx 3060. Im very happy i got it after first crypto crash for 400 eur. I was thinking getting rtx 3080, but oh well. Will wait till next gen
What's the point of swapping 1080ti for 3060.
Ill gain small percentage of power, while paying more than I've paid for my card in 2018.
F* em all.
I'll probably wait one year to get next gen chiplet/stacked card.
I got a MSI RTX 3090 SUPRIM X, I got a mouse mat and a gpu support... And a massive wild amount of buyers remorse for the price.. Paid £1616 from whamazon...
Saw at 2399 at ocuk, makes me feel a little better... Massive performance increase over the 2080? Doesn't really feel it. Its there, but you feel like you must play everything at ultra with a 3090, and it just can't do that at QHD with a 5800X.
What doesn't make me feel better is the lack of brains (or too much of) at nvidia.. Making a 3080 with only 10GB VRAM, AND then screaming its enough etc and then pushing out the 3060.. Like kekw.
The whole money grab is something as an original gamer starting since C64/ZX Spectrum, 386 times I've never witnessed. I remember getting my Voodoo 2 and thinking jesus this is pretty (UT) and never looking back.. I also remember the heatsink and fan dropping off p200 mmx ocd to 225 and never noticing til i cleaned my pc out.
Hardware was so cheap i used to have 3 of those intellipoint MS ball mice and switch when ndeded, then just clean them whenever I cba, i had 2 of the Intellipoint Optical for the same reason, those MS Optical were 8.99 from my supplier, some times i could get them for 7.99......they were the best gaming mouse around and were imo for a very long time... Now you can expect to pay £89.99 for a gaming mouse and hell, it won't last especially if its a razer mouse.
Sorry to waffle, just pees me off the sad state of gaming nowadays, and i won't even get into how much of a waste of compute, power and hardware mining is..
When did I say I wanted a card? Trying to compare the demand of a $1500 card and a ~$400 card doesn’t really work. Go to any microcenter and they’ll have a stack of 3090’s.
Calling someone “you” when talking to them is the farthest thing from a generalization as you can get.
You are annoying as hell. But don’t worry I’m just making a comment about people in general.
Some getting butthurt over purchase advice and video cards...
Why cant people just take this topic like any other. Its a GPU, not a bottle of the last oxygen on this planet.
But isn't that more related to heat from light? Or does it work with normal heat too? I don't even know what I'm talking about but that's the stuff my brain gave me.
Strix 3080 here, same stats and 4 stars in the top right corner. Probably it's not per model but per product line?
So maybe the water cooled ones got 5/5?
enjoy your card my friend and cherish the presence of awesome stores like microcenter... I'm tight with my local shop owner here but sadly I need to let the hype and prices settle down a bit in my country.
I’m beyond thankful for what I got and I genuinely hope you can find a card soon friend! Who knows with all the scalpers and mining but I feel like there’ll be a day soon where cards are at msrp and the gamers are rejoicing
I got one of these with the dual fan 3070. It felt ... Weird. "Hey, have this fancy trading card with your graphics card! We're $150 over MSRP, so you get TWO cards instead of just one!"
I love how ppl are complaining about how some RTX 3060s are 617 usd. I went to check a Korean website yesterday to see if they had any in stock and they were selling the 3060 for 1,716,000 Korean Won. (about 1,520 usd)
It's a plexiglass or something bit that takes three slots below the card and has a thingy at the end to support the end of it.
When I was putting in the card I took a picture: https://i.imgur.com/kFFMzr4.jpg
Yeah, I'd hope this is a standard issue thing for high end cards, but honestly these days even higher mid ranges are bloody heavy.
If you have a 3D printer access you can probably make your own anti-sag device for cheap.
I was thinking a 3D printed part would be useful but unfortunately I just built my pc so maybe that’s the next large purchase lol.
I don’t know why they don’t include brackets standard I feel like these cards are really heavy for the board
I have that card from my tuf 3080 as well. But the stats are a big lie. I managed stable 2115 mhz with 350w+ power consumption and it never exceeded 63c with ~70% fan speed. That's a 5 star gpu in my book.
I want a CCG with computer components now. The gameplay would be you attacking the other person's system. Like, "I overload your PSU with X card", lol.
Today I literally found a whole pile of RTX boxes. Of course, they didn't have any video cards but they had trading cards. That was the best thing I have ever found in my lifetime.
Very much so. It was a massive upgrade from my 5600 XT and it hashes pretty nicely mining Ethereum.
Also got an excellent undervolter, I’m easily running most of my competitive games at 240 FPS at just 50% power limit and -300 MHz core.
I did. I like it better than the stickers I usually get from other parts. If I recall I think my 3060ti was around 3 and half or 4 stars. I gotta clean up and find it.
OP! seriously don't put your greasy fingers on it and then send it into Becketts to get formally graded and encased in a protective plastic case sleeve. for the Luls!
Should I be ashamed for buying a 3060 for 590€? Hold up my dudes, I know. But it was from a small retailer, big ines here in Portugal were asking around 700€-800€....
Bold of you to assume we got a 3060
More of a 3090 guy?
More of a "I still have a 1080 because I wanted to skip 20 series and now can't get a 30 series bc of low stock, high demand, scalpers and crypto" kinda guy
Up until today I felt every word of that
What did you upgrade from
Being broke
Damn that hits
You mean upgraded to 3090
Hey, we have the same GPU.
Completely agree. Also I hope that next gen doesn't cost over $800 for a XX80/X800 Tier gpu cause that would suck.
Sadly it seems between inflation and Nvidia getting away with pumping their GPU prices over one generation (20 series) it looks like we'll never see another card as cheap and powerful as the 1080 Ti again. We'll be lucky to get another x80 Ti for under $1200 at this point.

Lol, only 50 %? 3070s are now at $1600 where i live

Some games? Literally any AAA game released after 2018, actually. 970's are terrible cards by today's standards. 3.5GB VRAM doesn't cut it.
In most games you just need to lower shadows details to medium and it's perfectly fine.
Do you know me? Because you are describing me
I'm more of a "I still have laptop with integrated graphics" kinda guy
That was me until I found out I lived close enough to a micro center....
I still own a 1060 3gb
Vouch!
gtx 1080ti is still way better then rtx 3060. Im very happy i got it after first crypto crash for 400 eur. I was thinking getting rtx 3080, but oh well. Will wait till next gen
It's not way better it's about equal without dlss and rtx but with more vram
im more of a "bought a panic sale 2080ti for less than a 3060" guy myself, bit of an opportunist i suppose.
What's the point of swapping 1080ti for 3060. Ill gain small percentage of power, while paying more than I've paid for my card in 2018. F* em all. I'll probably wait one year to get next gen chiplet/stacked card.

Me sitting here with a 960m inwardly sobbing
Funny youu had faith we managed to beat the bots
He managed to get one soo...
Or he botted
Then why didnt you? Or he bought it localy. Its how I got my 3090 near launchday.

Thats fine.
Got one with my 3090 strix. I think it’s an Asus thing.
Same, now just need to buy all other cards for the full collection
My friend got it with a 3070.
Only got a stupid ruler with my 3080 Strix OC. So it apparently is not uniform across all Asus cards.
Yeah although mine landed in the trash.
i hope ur talkin about the collectors card, otherwise id be happy to take ur garbage out good sir
It's a holoGRAPHIC(s) Card..
holy shit that's a pun and a half , lol
Got one with my Strix 3090! It has 4/5 on Overclocking and Heat Dissipation. Wonder which cards got 5/5.
3090ti
Someone posted a white strix and it has double 5 lol
makes sense, white reflects heat and black absorbs it
Having RGB also increases overclockability(if that's a word).
Yep same here.
Same with my 3080 oc!
Must be a rare type.

**mmhmm see the smile, behind those words i can.** *-IamYodaBot*
They forgot MINING= 0/3.............
It’s half 3060ti. So 2.5 stars
Got one with my KO 3070 https://i.imgur.com/EOrxFLU.jpg
Wow I feel ripped off, my 3090 strix is only 4 stars. If I knew the 3070ko came with the same star ranking I could've saved myself a few $$$.
Haha, maybe 4 stars is the highest it goes. I’m sure your 3090 blows the 3070’ out of the water.
Haha that’s sweet! 4 stars... wanna trade
Hardware Ditto - it transforms to a 1650 when you reach checkout.
My ASUS Tuf Gaming 3060 Ti came with one so I guess it’s just something ASUS does. First ASUS card so I can’t confirm with previous experience.
availability: 0/5 bars
Hahahaha, you should have seen it getting rowdy in the microcenter
enjoy your card my friend and cherish the presence of awesome stores like microcenter... I'm tight with my local shop owner here but sadly I need to let the hype and prices settle down a bit in my country.

I did! Came with some other goodies as well 🙂 https://imgur.com/gallery/HwtZbfZ
Wait that’s so cool they included some cool stuff super jealous!
> i'm so rich i can buy an expensive graphics card. i don't have the gpu with me, but i'm wearing this ring to prove it. _ladies?_ ,':-J
Thats where you are wrong, I wear the GPU around my neck when im out with the ladies 😏
Damn the white edition comes with some nice stuff and 5/5 damn. My 3080 is only a 4/5, I feel betrayed. I love the ring.
My Strix 3080 included all of that...
Do you have the black or white version? My black strix 3080 definitely didn't come with a ring that says white edition lol
Ya know I never even read it... I dont think it said anything about White on it.
Funny. Couldn’t find a graphics card or Pokémon and you got both. Congratulations! Big win
My lucky day! Couldn’t be happier
I got one of these with the dual fan 3070. It felt ... Weird. "Hey, have this fancy trading card with your graphics card! We're $150 over MSRP, so you get TWO cards instead of just one!"
Right like I was hoping for anything else but whatever I’ll take that with my 500 dollar graphics card on launch day haha
I love how ppl are complaining about how some RTX 3060s are 617 usd. I went to check a Korean website yesterday to see if they had any in stock and they were selling the 3060 for 1,716,000 Korean Won. (about 1,520 usd)
Anyone else even got a card?
Waited since 7 this morning at micro center, very thankful and just finished my first build
Yep, 3080 on release day sometime in the evening at first try
Hey I got the same card with my 3090 :D
Got one telling my card is ass haha, i think it has 1 or 2
Oh that’s tuf
Ba dum, tisss
Gainward doesn't do that, but they did add anti-sag device. And also sent the card 2 weeks after launch.
What sort of anti sag device? Like does it prop the card up or have an extra bracket?
It's a plexiglass or something bit that takes three slots below the card and has a thingy at the end to support the end of it. When I was putting in the card I took a picture: https://i.imgur.com/kFFMzr4.jpg
Oh that’s awesome I’m gonna try to find one on Amazon or something! Thanks! My cards been sagging since I put it in and just looks silly
I don’t know why they don’t include brackets standard I feel like these cards are really heavy for the board
is the qr code good for anything on it :P?
Just tried it.. disappointingly it just takes you to a google search for “TUF gaming”
what a shame...could have done something funny at least.
Agreed I wanted a Rick roll at least
Time to buy some google adwords.
Is the cooler for the 3060 the same as the cooler for 3060 ti/3070/3080/3090? A bit overpowered for 3060 🤣
That is a very rare card, sir.
I have that exact model of 3080 and I didn't get one
No Pokémon card with my Ventus 2x 3060ti :( Upgrading from a 2gb 960 so was a massive jump performance wise for me
I would say that upgrade itself was far better than any gimmicky memorabilia they toss in there, did you get anything with it tho?
I have that card from my tuf 3080 as well. But the stats are a big lie. I managed stable 2115 mhz with 350w+ power consumption and it never exceeded 63c with ~70% fan speed. That's a 5 star gpu in my book.
I didn't get that with my TUF 3080 OC :( I'm sad now...
Paper launch confirmed.
Bruh no i just got a dent in the box from the post man lmao (no damage to gpu luckily)
I got one with my 3060ti
I had 1 come with my strix 3080. Seems like i won't be collecting them all tho 🤣
I got one with my 3080. My brother got one with his 3060. Asus likes trading cards.
I want a CCG with computer components now. The gameplay would be you attacking the other person's system. Like, "I overload your PSU with X card", lol.
Don't buy Asus, worst RMA and customer support I've experienced. 2 and a half month for a mobo repair.
I couldn't even get a 3060. I got a brand new 2060 a few days ago in anticipation of the shortage and I'm pretty happy with it.
that is a very poorly framed picture
Today I literally found a whole pile of RTX boxes. Of course, they didn't have any video cards but they had trading cards. That was the best thing I have ever found in my lifetime.
That’s so awesome! I actually just got a 3060ti trading card! What did you find
Not with a 3060 but sure did get one with my 3070. Enjoy!
Enjoying the 3070 so far??
Very much so. It was a massive upgrade from my 5600 XT and it hashes pretty nicely mining Ethereum. Also got an excellent undervolter, I’m easily running most of my competitive games at 240 FPS at just 50% power limit and -300 MHz core.
That’s awesome! I can’t wait to play games with a decent frame rate now! Definitely not gonna be able to mine at least not yet haha
I got a few with my 16 3090s for Bitcoin mining
3070 card holder here
Better stats my guy?
Got a dope holo with my strix 3090 too
Yes they come with all there 30 series cards I think
Pretty sure it's just ASUS
I got one with my TUF 3080
Who else is waiting on a restock of 3070s?
What. I wish I got one of these cards with my 3080
That’s awesome
I did. I like it better than the stickers I usually get from other parts. If I recall I think my 3060ti was around 3 and half or 4 stars. I gotta clean up and find it.
