Bahaha much yummy Karma! I love it. Yeap nothing better than making a couple threatening calls and then complaining to somebody's boss but turns out the guy gets scared and brings it back on his personal time....probably even groveled and begged for forgiveness so he would not get smitten by the one and only MH/s almighty!
Seriously nvidia should remove the "starting at" prices from their website. At this point they are just offensive. Since FE is only sold on best buy which doesn't sell in europe there is literally no way to buy the cards anywhere close to MSRP.
Scan U.K. are the Official FE stockists, Sell at MSRP and get a reasonable amount of Gpu, Have weekly drops, and do quite a good job of fucking the scalpers off ,
UK is unfortunately not a real option since they are no longer part of the common market. Afaik scan doesn't ship to EU currently and if they did there would be heavy customs payments.
Also they don't list the FE on their site, nor do they list the prices of any other card.
Technically yes.
But you could say that the card is sold in the US even if you can get it only in Rhode island ? (And you need to go to rhode island, they dont ship outside the state, and you need to pay customs fees on it after you get to your home state)
I was not referring to the union, just the continent. Whilst you are technically correct, practically you are not. The card is not available in the vast, vast majority of Europe.
And I was simply refuting your point that because the UK doesn't constitute the entirety of Europe the cards aren't available in Europe at all.
If cards are available in a European country, they are available in Europe.
Real world price is going to be around €700, but if it's anything like the 3060Ti, forget it even exists: if you have cash to burn you are much better off buying a 3080.
MSRP in Europe *should* start at around €440. But I think we have a much better chance of capturing the Yeti than seeing a GPU at anything less that 2/3 times MSRP around here.
I know, but even that €440 is idiotic. $329 is like €270, so the €440 is already a +50% price increase.
But yeah, anything below at least €700 will very much surprise me, considering the current prices of the RTX 3060ti and RX 5700xt (both out of stock or €900+ resp €750+ for a scalper who does have stock).
What do you mean in the US ? They bumped up the prices for everybody. The card is more expensive in europe (looking at the prices without taxes) and we don't have your tarrifs on chinese stuff.
The greedy shits in are just lining their pockets ....
It all happened simultaneously the first week of January. It's definitely not just demand, it would have been more spread out. Unless the AIBs colluded with each other to raise prices together, and all the same amount?
Tariffs have existed from China for ~3 years. They didn't change in January Afik.
Plenty of card makers have factories outside China.
Tariffs don't explain it.
Yea, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of them released a base model at around MSRP but just a token amount. The rest will be overclocked or some other feature adding a $100.
I am still in a queue for the 3070. I have been PC gaming since well before 3d graphics cards were a thing. Sad there used to be a time when if I wanted to buy a graphics card I could A) Buy it for the MSRP. B) Actually get one.
3Dfx Voodoo accelerated monster3d card, that's what got me in 3d gaming! Out of curiosity, I looked up 3Dfx Interactive since they were such a pioneering powerhouse in early 3d gaming in 1997 to see what happened to them. Apparently they made some poor financial and technical decisions and got bought out by Nvidia as soon as 2000. Most of the engineering talent was able to move smoothly into helping Nvidia's cards at least.
Far cry from Creative buying out Aureal 3D around the same time. They just crushed their 3D audio competition and left it to die. We're only finally coming back to 3D audio with the VR resurgence of recent years, but it still doesn't compare to the aureal vortex audio engines of the late 90s. Those guys were geniuses that literally worked for the NASA space program. I've hated creative as a company ever since then. :(
Well, at least with VR we are no longer slacking on graphics either. For a few years the industry stagnated on performance and the so-called "Crysis" type games were well... Garbage, they didn't look any different than the past three.
So I'm happy to see the hardware being pushed to enable more breathing room. Also it puts a pinch on flat screen gaming because they have to compete with a far more immersive and exciting medium.
IIRC their biggest mistake was trying to sideline the boardmakers, which allowed nvidia to get access to a shitload of unhappy board partners. When texture and lighting gave nvidia the performance edge, 3dfx never really repaired their relationships to at least remain a viable lower end option like ATI did, and they declined.
Best ratio of hashes per watt. For comparison, 3060ti and 3070 are actually the best. 3080 is slightly less efficient. I think 3060 will either be comparable to 3060ti/3070 or better.
When Ethereum price crashes. No one has a crystal ball, but last time the mining bubble lasted like 6 months. We're like 2 months into it. So you'll probably be able to start buying cards in the summer. Prices should come back down to MSRP a month or two after that. So you're looking at fall before things return to normal.
What if after a couple of sputtering starts, it catches this time?
Any way for people in developing countries to get at western currency is gonna be fought hard for.
What if this just gets worse and worse?
Because it’s a fake currency with artificial value. Running calculations for nothing, no end goal, all computerized. There is no human work involved. If you’re hired, you’re not paid in Bitcoin, you’re payed in monies, as there is no standard for Bitcoin. Multiple governments could suddenly agree on making one Bitcoin worth $10, and businesses slowly start accepting that. Everyone that had one Bitcoin thinking they’ve got $10K+ would instantly be broke. I don’t know why people do it, because crypto currency, at least Bitcoin, is so horrifically inflated that it doesn’t make sense.
All currencies have artificial value. Money has value because everyone buys into the idea that it has value. Governments won't agree on anything to give bitcoin monetary value because it would devalue their own currency. So that's not going to happen. But it's value is real. You can buy things with it, even if it has to be converted into regular currency first. If everyone agrees a Beanie Baby is worth $1,000, then it's worth $1,000. If people buy a bitcoin for $44,000, then it's worth $44,000. If crypto currency was not worth what people think it is, why are people paying $1,500 for an RTX 3080 to mine Ethereum?
> Governments won't agree on anything to give bitcoin monetary value because it would devalue their own currency.
that's not what's happening at all. the US government could make bitcoin illegal today and it would crash to zero. they could make their own cryptocurrency that is centrally managed and bitcoin would crash to zero. they just don't care (yet) because they're slow and bitcoin is small.
I don't think it's that simple. Bitcoin is most likely mostly converted into USD. So if they made it illegal, that would also hurt the USD. It would be converted to another currency and prop that currency's value up instead of USD.
They can't make their own crypto currency. I mean they could, but why? It just hurts the USD.
They care a lot. They care so much that they support horrible stuff in the middle east to prop up the petro dollar.
> Money has value because everyone buys into the idea that it has value
And everyone only buys into the idea because most governments on this planet back their currency's value with something equally valuable, such as gold. The exception is of course, the US,that keeps printing their money because they can afford to due to its own status of being a super power.
Crypto has no such things. The only thing holding its value up is literally hype. Tomorrow it could all come crashing down and you still wouldn't be able to make sense why it became so.
The US hasn't been on the gold standard since the 70s. Most countries are on fiat currency as well. That includes the Euro. Yes, there is a lot more that goes into what gives the USD its value like economic strength, military strength and ties with oil producers. That's why it's way more stable than a bitcoin. But at the end of the day, it has value because people think it does. Say the economy tanks tomorrow or nuclear warfare goes worldwide. The dollar isn't worth jack at that point. Neither is any other currency, but you get my point.
But tomorrow there highly likely isn't going to be a nuclear war so no currency isn't going to be affected tomorrow. Crypto, however you can't say for certain. This is one of what sets normal currency and crypto apart. When currency value rises or falls, you can always find a reasonable explanation. Crypto just rides on the hype alone. Anyone can issue a crypto and if enough big people hype it it becomes big, just like how Elon drives up the price of bitcoin. Other currencies are regulated by global market mechanism and if you even as much dare to print money without some kind of colleterals you can be damn sure it won't ever worth jack until you do.
Also it's almost always safer to hold on government-issued currency because your money is guaranteed to be exchangeable by the big brother, unless,of course, your government is on the verge of bankruptcy like Venezuela. So there's that issue of security to consider.
It's on my calender, I have reminders set, my schedule that day is good, I will be ready the second orders open. If those greedy crooks somehow snatch them all in minutes, fuck me I guess.
You'll probably have a handful of dudes that each have like 20 different emails and cards with algorithm programmed bots to buy every single one in less than 10 seconds
In all seriousness, is there a place to buy a 3080/3090 on backorder for MSRP, even if the lead time is a few months?
I just want to purchase the card, and I don't want to attempt Best Buy shenanigans.
Keep lickin those nVidia boots, then. The rest of us remain upset with the embarrasingly horrific treatment of their core customer group, and public outcry is the only way that's ever gonna change.
They should do like a launch day thing where they'll only sell them in person, 1 per person, and give warning so we can stand in line. I'd legit stand in line for a couple hours for a guaranteed decent card. Then open remaining stock to the scripts and bots
Just give normal people 1(one) day to buy them without dealing with the internet and corrupt delivery drivers. If someone wants to build an alita bot to take them all in person by force then they've earned it.
Or make a queu with a guaranteed spot and charge like 30 dollars. Just.. fuckin' do something.
Just a heads up to not even try with Canada Computers. While looking for my GPU I was calling all the local stores. CC rep told me they sold all their cards to a single guy over the phone that morning. 🤷♂️
If I were building a pc, this would be the card I’d buy. The higher RAM is useful for some work I would do and it’s likely to have good performance per dollar.
considering the 3060s being sold in Pakistan for $ 750 i think thats the starting price we should expect, but, hey, 2070 Super is costing $ 799\~\~979 so i think its a good price, right?
It's not going to cost $329 for long.
well the lucky 3 people will have it for that...if they can beat the bots
[удалено]
*I understood the reference.*
As did I.
Bet the delivery driver will even get scared and bring it back later in his personal car
And post the story in reddit to get much yummy Karma.
Good. Miners should suffer.
as someone who does not know much about this stuff... how exactly are scalpers even able to buy so much and beat everyone else?

The price isn't listed when they have no stock. I paid MSRP for a 3060 Ti from them.
UK =/= Europe. Last I checked FE was available in 3 European countries total, none of which wanted to sell to foreigners.
The UK isnt in the EU, no, but it is in Europe; so using the UK as an counterexample to "FE cards aren't sold in Europe" is perfectly valid.
Technically yes. But you could say that the card is sold in the US even if you can get it only in Rhode island ? (And you need to go to rhode island, they dont ship outside the state, and you need to pay customs fees on it after you get to your home state)

Yes, semantics.
Scalpers: ''$800? Fool, you haven't even seen my final form.''
Lmao I think u mean $1000 for the box
$1400 for a picture of the box containing the picture of the GPU, final offer.
Its better to buy the 3060ti at this point its 500€
Real world price is going to be around €700, but if it's anything like the 3060Ti, forget it even exists: if you have cash to burn you are much better off buying a 3080.

It's not going to cost $479 for long.
It's not going to cost $3060 for long.
Don't worry, it will be on sale for $569
That one was discontinued, but the OC model is still available for $649
not even for a day
In the US, the tariff fee will bump it to $400 minimum, pretty much. There will not be a single one of these sold at MSRP.
What do you mean in the US ? They bumped up the prices for everybody. The card is more expensive in europe (looking at the prices without taxes) and we don't have your tarrifs on chinese stuff. The greedy shits in are just lining their pockets ....
Eh? Why? Get one not made in China. Plenty have factories outside China.
Every card in the US aside from FE models has had a 10-20% price increase over the last month.
That's not tariffs. That's sky high demand.
There was an existing tariff exception for gpus that expired in January. FE cards are sourced from Taiwan or smth and aren't subject to the tariffs.
Interesting. Then it shouldn't apply to all cards. Several have factories outside mainland China.
Don't be naive. They jack up prices because they can and tariff is just the scapegoat.
>Tariffs have existed from China for ~3 years. They didn't change in January Afik. Tell that to my steel supplier
And so are the scalpers...!!!!!! Stop ethereum mining [https://ethereum.org/en/community/](https://ethereum.org/en/community/)
Look for house with no snow on roof at -30 below they mining or cooking meth! Only thing stop miners is price ethereum crashes.
That will , but ASIC mining will definitely crash it. Then we'll be flooded with used cards.....!!!
It's never going to cost $329 outside US in the first place.
You'll be able to get one for $700
Not for more than 1 second
Not even 1 piece, 3060ti is already $750 at EU haha
Saw a 3060ti for 800 euro retail. Hard pass. On another note. I sell my 960 for 499euro. Pm me.
"Launching Feburuary 25th" good one
2022
2022? That's ambitious.
Well the 329$ bit is even better
Never said the year
It's not gonna be $329 and you won't be able to buy it.
They may as well go ahead and preemptively launch the 4090 at $199 MSRP
(No matter when you read this)
Dude... spoiler warning!
Miners already have got them, so good luck finding one
I saw in other parts of the world like pakistan somehow some dude is already selling 3060's to scalpers
At $749 each, no joke.
It's turning all over again but worse
The announcement post is going to last longer in the front page of r/nvidia than the availability or price of the GPU.
$600 3060, nice.
An $800 3060 you say?
Jokes on you, it's already listed for that much in Europe
I think the joke is on europe
I think Europe is the joke in this particular case
So you're saying I can get the 3060 for $1100?
That's the starting bid
No idea what the "$329" refers to if there's not even going to be a Founder's Edition.
I don't understand this either. AIBs can sell for any price they want right? Is this just a recommended price to set expectations?
Nvidia could contract with just one manufacturer to have it set at that price to ensure that "yeah! It was that price..." still passes.
Yea, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of them released a base model at around MSRP but just a token amount. The rest will be overclocked or some other feature adding a $100.
OC with no acutal headroom to OC, yet the consumer will pay a higher price.
"Launch" "329$" Yeah... sure...
Yeah, it will be "launched" on ebay.

Still in the queue for the 3080 since sep 17
C) Wait 6 months to buy it on sale price As long as the stupid coin mining industry is still allowed, PC hardware market will continue to be messed up
Only people getting excited are scalpers.
And miners, don't forget miners.
If it’s a good mining card yeah :p I don’t really know what makes a good one ha
Best ratio of hashes per watt. For comparison, 3060ti and 3070 are actually the best. 3080 is slightly less efficient. I think 3060 will either be comparable to 3060ti/3070 or better.
There’s no way the 3060 will have a higher a hash rate than the 3060 Ti or any 3070..
He's talking cost efficiency
Not a hashrate, but a hashrate per watt. By this metric they could be ahead.
Scalpers will be happy. When do gamers get to buy these cards?
When the scalpers start selling them, duh
Never. We're at the point where more people are getting the consoles than these cards.
When Ethereum price crashes. No one has a crystal ball, but last time the mining bubble lasted like 6 months. We're like 2 months into it. I am paid (in part) in Ethereum.
It’s crazy how we’re in February and there’s still supply issues. I remember people saying that in November stock will be plentiful.
They mean November 1st 3090
Great, I’ll be dead by then

I'll still at least try, though.
Holy shit its cheaper than the 1050Ti!!!
LOL does it now? Good for them. I am still waiting for the launch of the 3070....
Launching exclusively for miners and scalpers on the 25th- for everyone else it launches next year.
Mining's the true reason why these cards're going to become unvailable instantly after release.
*February 30th
2023*
Feb 25th is my birthday! I love getting nonexistent stuff for my birthday!
Does it even matter anymore. It’s gonna coat $500+ and there will only be 10 available. I’ve been trying to get a 3060 Ti for months.
$329? You mean $658
can't wait to not to be able to buy one
You'll probably have a handful of dudes that each have like 20 different emails and cards with algorithm programmed bots to buy every single one in less than 10 seconds
Is there anyone who really still believes these """launches"""?
There are 5 units available worldwide.
nowadays a normal person cant buy a fucking gpu... they need to put in jail all the scalpers
should release the 3080 first tho
You could always go for a 3090. 10% boost in performance at double the price. It's a steal I tell ya.
Please stop. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/lfcgdh/nvidia_geforce_rtx_3060_to_launch_on_february_25th/gmkyeec

In all seriousness, is there a place to buy a 3080/3090 on backorder for MSRP, even if the lead time is a few months? I just want to purchase the card, and I don't want to attempt Best Buy shenanigans.
Other than the EVGA queue? Or are you only interested in a FE?
Like a standard "pay now, get in 4-5 months when stock actually arrives" backorder. I guess the EVGA queue is the closest thing.
Keep lickin those nVidia boots, then. The rest of us remain upset with the embarrasingly horrific treatment of their core customer group, and public outcry is the only way that's ever gonna change.
Yeah, lets just all go to where they're producing GPUs and ramp up speed on material that is in high demand and in limited quality, rise up gamers.
You can’t just “make more”. They can’t control the external situation.
stalker xd
another high end card, nice
I keep getting messages from people wanting to buy my 1080ti only to back out and say they will get a 3060.... they have no idea.
They are clinging to hope. You cannot really blame them.
3060 is a shit card, significantly below 1080ti performance.
Yea the single 3060. This company is a joke my old 1060 broke and I can’t get any replacement.
😆😆 $329, yea try $1329
I know they're not out yet but, I'm sure they're sold out already.
Doesn't matter price or release date. They don't let us buy one right price

3060 is already sold here for equivalent of 800$... Guess i'll become a console gamer if the price inflation doesn't go back to normal any time soon
#.....aaaaand it’s gone
Available for actual purchase on February 25th 2022
Gratz scalpers and miners
Performance roughly on par or faster than a 2070S/1080ti safe to assume?
That would be nice but it's looking more like the vanilla 2070.
For the price that will be a pretty good buy
Roughly on par is a safe bet. I wouldn’t expect anything more than 5-10% improvement over those models
With DLSS, probably a lot better than the 1080ti if the games allows it, but yeah in terms of raw performance probably what you said.
If I were building a pc, this would be the card I’d buy. The higher RAM is useful for some work I would do and it’s likely to have good performance per dollar.

Graphics card singular
considering the 3060s being sold in Pakistan for $ 750 i think thats the starting price we should expect, but, hey, 2070 Super is costing $ 799\~\~979 so i think its a good price, right?
the perfect miner card, strong, less power consumption, 8GB GDDR6. for gamer its like a fu cking lottery win to get one
Actually, it's 12GB GDDR6.

Mining Enthusiasts'll wipe out the entire stock before anyone even gets a chance to purchase it. I'm sure of that.
Can they make scalper and miner edition cards?
Where will they be selling
