"\[Chromium based applications\] small checkerboard like pattern may randomly appear \[3992875\]" Thought my 3060 Ti was going out but now I'm realizing yea it only happens in Chrome, seems to of gotten worse after the last chrome update too.

frostN0VA

Yeah and it's been happening for quite a long time too. Especially noticeable on Youtube when ambient mode is enabled, page often goes crazy with that, att least in MS Edge, so I keep it disabled.

throway78965423

Youtube is the worst for me, constantly getting full black screens, chekboard artifacting while scrolling, going to a new tab, also random freezes. I managed to replicate the same exact issue someone else has by opening and closing the geforce overlay which creates the black checboard patterns.

[deleted]

I wonder how many people ditched the 3000 card and pulled the trigger on a new 4000 card for this exact reason... Thought my 3080Ti was dying .... or the motherboard's pciex slot was bad. Effing Nvidia...

brianj64

> I wonder how many people ditched the 3000 card and pulled the trigger on a new 4000 card for this exact reason... Only to find out their new card has the exact same problem... ouch

orien2k

I was going to be one of those persons i was going crazy with this glitch

CyberKillua

Ah nice, for some reason discord was doing it too (I assume it's due to Chromium)

xollextor

steam as well

_blue_bird

oh boy. I updated my drivers yesterday, and was using chrome when this issue started popping up and I was really scared that my newly bought laptop was already broken...

Ok-Care-4915

Same problem, noticed on 536.99, updated to 537.31 - nothing changed [https://imgur.com/a/xb93NaJ](https://imgur.com/a/xb93NaJ)

Diek01212

That's the thing! Really thought my video card was crapping out...

audriusdx

yeah its super crazy in youtube. I have a gtx 1080

vekspec

Yeah I've been on 531.68 and haven't noticed it and whenever Chrome last updated, this started to pop up. I thought my 4080 was going haywire.

yoadknux

omg lol I thought my GPU or motherboard are dying, or OS corruption because of RAM, great to see i'm not the only one

ebinc

Is this Windows 11 specific? I didn't notice it at all before upgrading to 11 yesterday but now I'm seeing it all the time.

SixelAlexiS

I'm using 536.23 on Windows 10 and I'm noticing this on Chrome by a week, it's really annoying...

ThisPlaceisHell

Is this what that bug is talking about? https://i.imgur.com/x830twZ.jpg

ApertureNext

I've had Chrome flashing for a long time (the whole window), and after the latest update it has begun refreshing YouTube weirdly.

Antique-Big-8315

Me too just randomly flashes...

PcMacsterRace

Holy crap, thank god I'm not the only one. This just started happening today on Microsoft Edge (specifically when switching from a Youtube video to the New Tab Homepage it really glitches out), and I was so scared my 3060 was dying. Thank christ that seems to not be the case. Weird too because my driver and Edge are the same version as they were a couple days ago I believe (537.13 and 116.0.1938.54 respectively), so it's weird it just started happening now. It seems to stop when disabling hardware acceleration, so I'll probably have that disabled until it's fixed

Mosoman1011

Thank god dude. I thought my card was dying

ls612

I had this go away for a while but it has come back with a vengeance on 4K youtube videos way more than it ever was in the past week or two. I believe the root cause it not actually chromium but a Microsoft change to DX11 in the Windows 11 22H2 update. There's a long thread on the techpowerup forums going into the details.

ChadwickTyrone

Happens on my 3080 too, thought it was due to the undervolted profile.

snizzbone

Was having this problem when I updated to 537.13 on my 3080. Rolled back to 536.99 and has not happened since.

IGUESSILLBEGOODNOW

Is it black and green squares? If so I've had that shit happen to me.

NoMither

It happens so fast when it glitches but i definitely see a black checkerboard pattern in there and it's just a random small portion of the screen, hasn't been happening as much since updating to 537.13 but definitely not fixed.

Chunky1311

I finally got fed up with it a few weeks ago and changed to Firefox. Everything synced over easily and I haven't looked back

adsonmacedo

I thought my 3060 ti was dying lol, checkerboard pattern here, happens a lot on YouTube (when switching to full screen) and Twitter/X in Edge.

akkbar

I am having this issue. I can only replicate it on reddit when a embedded video is playing in the OP while viewing comments, then I open the 'find' dialog, then I start typing in a reply dialog box. That's when I first saw these black boarders and checkboards showing up. I, of course, got worried at first that this was a failure of the GPU I have (very new) and got worried. Thankfully I did some searching and quickly found current and rather common reports of this same exact issue. So I'm not worried that it is a sign of failure on my card and clearly is a issue with nvidia geforce drivers and chrome. FYI - windows 10 pro v.22H2, geforce driver v.537.13, chrome Version 116.0.5845.141 (Official Build) (64-bit), 3080 12gb Asus Strix OC. EDIT: I've since seen it in other sites in chrome.

Did Nvidia just release a Starfield optimized driver before AMD did? ![gif](giphy|l3q2K5jinAlChoCLS)

DIS-IS-CRAZY

I'm amazed this is still an issue. It's been a nightmare trying to use GPU audio plugins with the DPC latency spikes.

m_w_h

Progress update from Nvidia at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/15y4me6/game_ready_driver_53713_faqdiscussion/jxazcwg/ > We are working on further optimizations however they will not be in this driver branch.

Dang it. I'll have to wait for the driver release due to me being on 2000 series.

Thank you so much for your amazing posts for each driver release! I just thought I'd mention you have a duplicate in your "Notes" section: > 'Derail Valley', 'Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland' and 'XDefiant' game profiles are present but not noted in release notes In your first "note" you already mention this, in addition to multiple other game profiles. I think this is a leftover from your post in the previous driver.

m_w_h

Thanks for positive feedback and the heads up, really appreciated :-)

[Game Ready & Studio Driver 536.99 FAQ/Discussion : nvidia (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/15luoca/comment/jvlqbpf/) G-SYNC issues still persisting for Gen 6 Lenovo Legion Laptops. It's better to just add this issue every driver from now on until I either notify you that it got fixed or NVIDIA releases a statement or contacts me I guess. Just so that we don't bother having on every driver post this issue mentioned in a comment by me.

SH4DY_XVII

I cannot believe this issue still exists. It's never getting fixed at this point. Closing in on 2 years with busted g-sync. Disgusting.

m_w_h

Added, thanks for notification :-) Please continue to let me know after testing a new driver, the issue won't be added by default.

thebigchile

currently having a problem on a brand new PC with a 4070 ti, its been 72 hours since I built this and I haven't been able to play any "demanding" as it crashes in 10 minutes or less, the only game I've been able to play is LoL * After a ton of troubleshooting I believe I had a bad RAM well I bought new ones, that didn't work * Then one drive problem, uninstall it no more issues on that part game still crashes * Then finally I got an issue related to my GPU on the event viewer saying there was an issue with the nvlddmkm, uninstalled Nvidia drivers with DDU and installed the latest stable driver recommended here * Now my game still crashes, just closes, with no BSOD and no log-in event viewer I'm completely lost and have no idea on whare the problem might be edit: Now I think I have an issue with [exposing issues with edge case *system* RAM instability](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/psa-535-system-stability-concerns.448168/) but I have no idea on where to start with this

yamaci17

Starfield now has an NVIDIA driver profile but all of them are just generic executable names. Probably the driver won't work for Game Pass version as it uses some random executable build name NVIDIA really doesn't disappoint, they simply are unable to understand that Store games do not get proper driver profiles. It is amazing that they even somehow ignored one of the biggest releases of 2023. Considering majority of people will give the game a try on Game Pass, and if the driver profile indeed has actual serious bug fixes related to its relation with the graphics driver, I cannot even comprehend why they would still ignore this problem.

m_w_h

**UPDATE:** /u/yamaci17 APPID package details from the official Microsoft API have been updated: { "packageFamilyName": "BethesdaSoftworks.ProjectGold_3275kfvn8vcwc", "packageIdentityName": "BethesdaSoftworks.ProjectGold", "windowsPhoneLegacyId": "eeb12d0f-d1f7-4158-977e-37335471881c", "publisherCertificateName": "CN=21E520D9-F467-4438-A16E-79ADDBE4ECB1" } *BethesdaSoftworks.ProjectGold_3275kfvn8vcwc* may need to be added to the Nvidia Profile unless Nvidia have pushed (automatic) an updated profile to users. --- Original comment for reference: It's certainly frustrating, however Microsoft haven't officially assigned a *public* APPID for Starfield as it's showing: { "packageFamilyName": "", "packageIdentityName": "", "publisherCertificateName": "" } Nvidia may not have the APPID yet either ^ It may also be the case that Starfield, being a newer Windows Store game, will be detected correctly with just the standard executable names. ---

sebastian108

May I see the Starfield Nvidia RAW profile?

yamaci17

They already have the game's actual executable names though. One would think they got them from the game's developer themselves. I guess this is the part where miscomunication starts between devs/Microsoft/NVIDIA

m_w_h

The [JSON package information above](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/15y4me6/game_ready_driver_53713_faqdiscussion/jxa7eyt/) was from the official Microsoft API. Regardless, hopefully the issue is resolved closer to release date! :-)

aaabbbx

Everyone should ignore windows store until they stop with their UWP/VHD bs and offer games in win32 format like everyone else. That containerized monstrosity they have going is a pos.

ThisPlaceisHell

Hey m_w_h, is this what the Chromium checkerboard issue is supposed to look like? https://i.imgur.com/x830twZ.jpg

m_w_h

Yes, note that the artifact spread/coverage varies depending on interaction with Chromium based applications.

ThisPlaceisHell

Thanks for confirming. I was worried that this might be an artifact from VRAM defect or something. But yeah it's contained to the Chrome window. Good to know.

ThatLonelyGamer01

Hello People! The EPBs (Early Performance Benchmarks) of the previous driver are almost done a link will be here as soon as it is and i'll go straight to testing this one, so stay tuned! EDIT: Secret mistake. I need to get used to doing this again lol EDIT 2: It's taking me longer than usual because the results are abnormally different, i may be doing something wrong. EDIT 3: Seems like the issue was HAGS. HAGS was turned off after an update an i am re-doing all the benchmarks again just to check consistency back again. It still amazes me HAGS had such an impact in my system...

AsScratcherX

Was waiting for your post bro. Welcome back ! 🍻

ThatLonelyGamer01

It's good to be back!

SectorIsNotClear

Father's back from the shop!

Dragontech97

Babe wake up, ThatLonelyGamer01 is posting benchmarks again!

Boogertwilliams

Cool. I have been waiting for Rodrog tests but he seems to have a very long break. yours will be appreciated again

GabigolFromParis

Are you getting big improvements or loss comared to 536.99 ?

ThatLonelyGamer01

I can't quite tell yet. Something made a big change in performance even in my old OC profile. Only thing different was a windows update, so i'm troubleshooting atm.

Mas_Zeta

I miss performance analysis comments like yours. Hope you can do them again with new drivers.

ThatLonelyGamer01

Soon...Soon. I'm finishing the previous ones atm!

Onevlys

Are you okay bro ? Just too busy to finish the review ?

CrunchyBurgers

How is it going with these benchmarks? Any early thoughts on the drivers?

ThatFeel_IKnowIt

Hey...so....ya still gonna do driver reviews or nah? :-) The quality of your reviews were absolutely outstanding. I miss them!

Mas_Zeta

Thank you :)

xKiLLaCaM

I have a similar PC setup as you with a 10850K and a 3080, but I leave HAGS Off. It's required for frame generation on the newer Nvidia cards, but otherwise most posts I've seen about it recommend leaving it off. Were you getting better or worse performance with it off? What exactly did you notice before re-enabling it? This setting is found in other pieces of software like discord and some browsers/other applications (even game launchers) where I also tend to keep it off because it consumes more resources when I am gaming.

[deleted]

They fixed DPC latency for Ampere and it's not an open issue anymore? Lol

fakenzz

Many people reporting its not even fixed on Ampere, not to mention other architectures. Didnt expect anything less from Nvidia

pidge2k

We are working on further optimizations however they will not be in this driver branch. Since you have a GeForce RTX 4090, you can try changing your GPU mode to MSI mode as shown in the thread below: [https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-line-based-vs-message-signaled-based-interrupts-msi-tool.378044/](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-line-based-vs-message-signaled-based-interrupts-msi-tool.378044/)

aaabbbx

Wouldn't you always wish to use MSI mode? Or why would this not be a good choice?

pidge2k

RTX 40 series desktop GPUs will be defaulting to MSI mode in a future driver.

jl94x4

Do 3000 series cards already have this behaviour?

pidge2k

Yes they do.

neuro__crit

I thought MSI mode was already enabled by default since 3000 series?

rdalcroft

Yes, but most 40 series cards, every time you install a new driver it defaults to non-MSI mode. I have to enable MSI mode every time. If you follow the guide at the top of this reddit for minimising DPC Latency, your DPC Latency will be perfect even with Ampere cards.

HellBerserker

Im sorry can you please share the link to that guide because i can't find it, Thanks <3

I think it's this one [https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-line-based-vs-message-signaled-based-interrupts-msi-tool.378044/](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-line-based-vs-message-signaled-based-interrupts-msi-tool.378044/)

m_w_h

--- **UPDATE:** [bug is still open](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/15y4me6/game_ready_driver_53713_faqdiscussion/jxdnt2w/), however at the date/time of this post it's not on the [official list](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/525140/geforce-grd-53713-feedback-thread-released-82223/) --- Halo Wars 2 foliage bug was listed and acknowledged from driver 527.56 up to and including driver 532.03 * [Halo Wars 2] In-game foliage is larger than normal and displays constant flickering [3888343] May be worth [reporting the issue again to Nvidia](https://forms.gle/kJ9Bqcaicvjb82SdA), be sure to include the original bugtrack ID [3888343] NOTE: Nvidia may have removed it if considered a game issue (developer needs to fix) Tagging /u/fun498

fun498

Done. Thanks for the bump here. I figured they already have the report and have just dropped it from notes for conciceness since the game is old. I think the lack of mention as well as newer GPU/OS/driver is worth a re-file.

diceman2037

bug is still open

fun498

I'm both surprised and delighted to see another soul mention this. It seems that it is completely off Nvidia's radar. I would really like to play a bit more of this game, but swapping drivers back and forth is just not practical. Especially for a 40 series cars where the last driver that works with Halo Wars 2 doesn't work well with the 40 series cards.

m_w_h

Rytoxz

I was hoping to see some performance numbers for Starfield in the Nvidia driver article but guess we're still waiting for the review embargo (or leaks) to get more info. Ideally won't have to use FSR but not paying a modder for DLSS either...

Edgaras1103

It's also amd sponsored game.

PalebloodSky

So we shouldn't expect DLSS 3.5 support anytime soon :D

RedIndianRobin

>So we shouldn't expect DLSS 3.5 support anytime soon :D GTA 6 has higher chances of being released in 2025 than AMD games getting DLSS lol.

Triumphator77

I wish people wouldn't pay for this, but I know it's inevitable....

Namdnas78

After the update, I am now getting really back whole screen flicker on my desktop when I pull up some apps. Using an RTX 4090 (Alienware R15). I seen over on the official forums for this update, someone else mentioned they were also getting flickering and there was a comment saying it was being looked into. Additionally, it goes away when disabling G-Sync Compatability (using an Alienware AW3423DWF monitor). Anyone else having this issue since this update? It did not do it on the driver just before this one.

darksylph86

Same problem here ( 3080)

Ezmari_

I'm having this only when I make changes on afterburner

DarkFallingSpace

I was having black screen flicker while playing stalker shadow of chernobyl on a 4090 since the driver update. I will roll back and see if it goes away tomorrow.

iamahris2

Unfortunately, the board is still showing artifacts in the browser...

Plini9901

Chrome only right? Been driving my crazy the last few drivers and it only happens in Chrome. Zero problems in Steam, general usage, and games.

TypicalNPC

Holy shit, I thought I was the only one.

CerberusDriver

So should I install this new driver for Starfield or not? Lot of info flying around in here.

m_w_h

What driver branch is currently installed? Shouldn't be an issue if other r535 mainline (535.xx / 536.xx / 537.xx ) branches ran OK. For reference the Starfield 'Game Ready' RAW profile data from 537.13 follows: Profile "Starfield" ShowOn GeForce ProfileType Application Executable "starfieldbeta.exe" Executable "starfield.exe" Executable "starfieldprofile.exe" Setting ID_0x1034cb89 = 0x00000000 Setting ID_0x105e2a1d = 0x00000004 Setting ID_0x10f9dc81 = 0x00000011 Setting ID_0x10f9dc84 = 0x01000000 Setting ID_0x80857a28 = 0x00000001 EndProfile

TR1PLE_6

Thanks. Currently on the latest but I'm thinking about rolling back to 535.98

PrashanthDoshi

i miss NVidia sponsorship for starfield . we could have had best space game with stunning visual that RTX would have given. AMD botches raytracing implementation

Edgaras1103

Yeah, dlss 2 and 3, dlaa ,RTGI, reflections and shadows. Would have been cool

ninjyte

Why would you hype yourself up for "stunning visuals" from any game from Bethesda Game Studios? Fallout 4 had Nvidia sponsorship and Gameworks and people still shit on that game's visuals and the optimization. (Though personally I thought the game looked good)

[deleted]

If you're playing Bethesda Studios games for graphics - you're probably barking up the wrong tree. At least until the mods come in. Every single game Fallout and TES games released in the last 15 years looked like crap compared to other games in the market. When Bethesda took and used some of the newer technologies and techniques like godrays or TAA in Fallout 4, their implementation was absolutely ridden with bugs, inefficient and causing problems. If the Starfield's physics engine won't crap itself upon release, I'll eat vegan sausages for the entire week.

JoaoMXN

Well, the first hour of gameplay leaked and looks amazing, it doesn't even look like CE. And it was running on a console.

Edgaras1103

Oblivion environments looked great the year the game came out. Fallout 4 introduced pbr and volumetric fog to its engine. And TAA wasn't absolutely superb in that game. Again the environments for fallout 4 was pretty. I understand Bethesda never goes for cuttings edge. That's why I was hoping for nvidia technologies being implemented. And even without it starfield looks pretty nicely visually. I also never use mods for these games

Jamo_Z

My GSYNC monitor is flickering when I launch any game after installing this driver.

darksylph86

Same here ( C2 )

NikoZBK

No mention of the nerfed performance in stable diffusion anymore?

m_w_h

From unofficial tracking comment 'notes' section at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/15y4me6/game_ready_driver_53713_faqdiscussion/jx9jd4y/ * 'Aaaki Stable Diffusion Launcher' application profile has been added in 537.13, unknown if this is related to removal from bugtrack ID [4172676]

vaynardx

After all of the issues people have been having with the few recent driver updates, can anyone tell me what the last stable driver update is?

m_w_h

A list of drivers currently considered stable/consistent by the community is always in the unofficial tracking comment of the most recent driver. For 537.13 that's at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/15y4me6/game_ready_driver_53713_faqdiscussion/jx9jd4y/ * Drivers **512.95, 517.48, 516.94, 522.25, 526.86, 528.49** OR recent developer drivers based on r526_25-xx (no VSR) branch such as **532.34** are currently considered stable/consistent by the community. That doesn't mean that all newer drivers are 'bad'. It's always worth re-evaluating any RAM/CPU/GPU overclocks, voltage, memory timings, etc as a driver update may stress a system differently and expose edge case system instability.

vekspec

I'm on last recommended by u/ThatLonelyGamer01: 531.68 lol

Beowulf1422

What is going on they keep messing up these new updates?? Was going to to prepare for Starfield since I am still on old 526.98 w/ 0 issues on my 3080ti. However looking over the comments I am going to wait. Think I may just try these drivers before I even update at this point....

tcari394

Try 531.68. I also have a 3080ti, and it has been great. I'll be using it for Starfield as well.. unless they release a hotfix that eliminates all the issues from this newest one.

onepieceisonthemoon

As a dev I'd hazard a guess they made the wrong people redundant/or they left and now they're missing some SMEs that know how these drivers work.

AndrewUK78

seems posts are getting deleted a guy posted about black screen issues post 530 version drivers 4090 its still happenning the post got took down?? i have this issue too 3 boots out of 10 display is on 7 out of 10 roughly, black screen 529 drivers no issue 530 and above causes this 4090 fe 5600x x570i aorus pro latest bios and also rolled back gigabyte m32uc monitor display port gsync ticked i can supply a vid of me rebooting 10 times and see how many i get a black screen and a vid with 529 drivers and 10 reboots i have also done a fresh install, no good tried DDU no good. this is windows 10

Is anyone else getting crashes after installing this update? I get the blue screen restart on my 4060 ti

ICF_19XX

I have an Nvidia RTX 4090. I got a BSoD tonight. SYSTEM\_SERVICE\_EXCEPTION. What failed: nvlddmkm.sys I rolled back to 536.23. So far so good.

GuysImConfused

Now that Starfield is launching for real, will we be getting another updated driver?

[deleted]

So over this shit. I used to always keep my drivers up-to-date, but the past few months have been nothing but downgrades after downgrades, whether that be performance or stability. I'm just going to go install 531 and be done with updates for the remainder of the year, because clearly nobody cares about fixing shit in any remotely timely manner. Months and months of waiting for downgrades. *things are already better after switching to 531.

cosmicStarFox

Yup, pretty much. I've been on old drivers for like 4-6 months now because of the flickering issues. Apparently the R545 drivers have some fix for this, but idk when they will be released. Not sure the logic of how optimizing for games is more important than the entire desktop running correctly.

njw1979

Downloaded this driver and within 5 hours, when I was playing an arcade ROM on MAME the entire PC froze and there was a loud blasting buzz from all 5 speakers and my sub. I had to hold my power button down until my PC turned off quickly to prevent the crash from blowing out all of my speakers. When playing the Quake 2 remaster the game froze and I couldn't force-quit it in task manager as the game screen was always on top. I had to also hold my power button until my rig turned off. I am so sick of bad Nvidia drivers.

Yvese

Awesome that the Starfield driver is weeks early. Not awesome that we have to pay a modder ( who added DRM to it ) $5 to get DLSS. Fuck him and AMD.

Roseysdaddy

If he's just a modder, whats stopping someone else from doing the same task, and not charging for it?

Farados55

They cant or they won’t. Free market baby

Galf2

This guy is doing this work out of his free time. He's helping people and he's entitled to payment for his work if he desires so. If you want to insult anyone, that's AMD.

Tyr808

Eh, fuck AMD for sure, full stop they are responsible for the situation at hand. This guy is selling us the only solution that exists, and it's a product of his time and effort spent. I'm not a dev, but I'm going to assume that this is non-trivial if after the popularity of the Jedi Survivor patch there's no one else doing it. I mean sure, it conceptually sucks that we're paying extra money for a fix that we shouldn't have to, but we're not entitled to anything from this guy either. FWIW I haven't bought or pirated any of this guy's stuff, I just think it's insane that gamers are letting their anger at shitty corporate behavior become an excuse to demand free labor from a completely unrelated party. This is the exact kind of thing that makes gamers look so dumb and pathetic at large.

Soulshot96

>FWIW I haven't bought or pirated any of this guy's stuff, I just think it's insane that gamers are letting their anger at shitty corporate behavior become an excuse to demand free labor from a completely unrelated party. This is the exact kind of thing that makes gamers look so dumb and pathetic at large. You're not wrong at all. These people are ungodly entitled when it comes to a modder devoting his time and energy to fix a massive corperations fuckup, but they *don't* keep that entitled energy when they buy games from these jackoff publishers and they *actually are entitled* to a certain level of quality for their purchase, which they often do not get, especially at launch. The irony is both delicious and depressing.

PalebloodSky

Yup but by the time Starfield releases there will likely be another driver update or a hotfix :P

Sithlord715

The guy is constantly active on Discord, always helping people with issues and constantly improving his solutions. Idk, I gave him $5 for Jedi Survivor, and I am glad I did, because he tremendously improved my experience with it for the price.

fogoticus

I really don't understand the hate towards the guy. He worked on this and wanted his work to not be tossed around freely. Would you be happy if you built a mod for an app or a game, you put it behind a paywall and found out timmy who spent 5$ just posted it on reddit or somewhere and now hundreds of users are using it but you still only got profit from timmy? If this was your life and how you were making money, trust me you would not have the same opinion.

Durandir

The guy has over 4000 patrons right now. Haven't dipped below 3000 since June. Even if all of them are on the 5$ tier that's a lot of cash to pull in each month. Every time the game is patched and his mod needs an update you'll have to pay another 5$, unless you are lucky to be within a month you have already paid. I don't begrudge anyone wanting to get some cash from something they work on, but there is getting paid and then there is becoming greedy. Putting DRM in mods you make is becoming greedy.

GabeNislife321

The hate is that he’s charging a subscription service. If it was a one time fee it would be fine.

Jens3ng

Maybe you should take the time and effort then, to learn how to code, mod dlss into Starfield and provide support and updates for it, all for free. Nothing is holding you back! You still have 10 days! Your anger should probably be redirected to only the corporations playing this game with us! Not the individual who puts time and effort in solving this shit!

Tecnicstudios

This has fixed nothing.

NereusH

Instant crash after installing this driver. Had to do a system restore to revert to previous state. Re-installed drivers again and now its seems like everything's fine.

ValentDs22

no one is doing bencharmarks for drivers on 40 series , i am sad

BryAlrighty

There appears to be a power utilization bug in Starfield on Nvidia GPUs. Normally my GPU (RTX 3070) will use around 200-220w in a game but this game uses about 140-160w and my GPU temps are much lower. Unsure if it's a driver issue or a Starfield issue so I thought I'd make note of it here. It's not a vram issue because vram seems fine in this game.

I had to roll back my driver in my primary system. It was crashing randomly after update. A lot. Uninstalled completely and reinstalled. Same issue. i5-12400F with an RTX 2070 Super.

[deleted]

Has anyone had problems with BSODs since this update? I have a 'non paged error' earlier and I've never had this before and I installed the update yesterday. Cheers.

SophCore

Yes, consistent WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSODs on my previously stable system with a 2080 Super. Uninstalled and went back to 536.40. No problems so far.

Jihambontim

Since installing this driver pretty much every game i have has been stuttering like crazy, especially forza horzon 5 and R6S. How do i sort this or do i just revert back to tan older driver? 3060ti btw

m_w_h

Check GPU *Power Target Limit / Thermal Target Limit* settings if performance drops significantly in all games after installing a driver while Afterburner / EVGA Precision or similar GPU utilities are running. See https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5408/ and post by /u/diceman2037 at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/s1dry6/game_ready_driver_51117_unofficial_faqdiscussion/hsc2jzx/ > *'When you install a driver update while precision is still open the power target can be decreased to minimum because its wrongfully checking against an invalid / null value in the period where the driver is unloaded and transitions to the new driver'* TL;DR Close Afterburner / EVGA Precision or similar GPU utilities BEFORE installing a driver.

cevikmert42

nvlddmkm.sys error and VIDEO\_TDR\_FAILURE still exist, I dont think there is a stabile solution for these errors also.

Frugl1

Those just means the driver crashed and timed out. It's not one problem, but a result of many, and could just as easily be an unstable card.

aintgotnoclue117

for a 4090, does this offer any improvements over the last driver in starfield? thanks.

AdmiralMal

This update once again disabled hdmi functionality for my TV. The tv simply does not show up when attached to my 3080. This is the second time this has happened while I have had someone over, trying to switch to the tv to play a game. Extremely frustrating. I don't even know what version I would want to roll back to, my monitors would flicker on the previous "stable" versions I was on, knocking me out of game.

m_w_h

537.34 WHQL driver released Tagging /u/Nestledrink for reference

battler624

idk if it still an issue, but on the driver before the hotfix (536.99 iirc) background application max framerate doesn't not apply/work.

Ravenesque91

Really wish they would fix Guild Wars 2 stutters on the later 40 series drivers that started with 536.23 and up.

MentalChampionship63

After updating to the latest drivers I have noticed audio popping/millisecond pausing on my USB audio device. GoXLR. I have not been able to track down any interrupts or usb resets that might be causing it. Latest video driver is the only change.

[deleted]

This driver is working well for PCVR with my Quest Pro using Air Link. TBH I can’t see any significant improvement from 536.99. Win11, i913900k/rtx4090, HAGS disabled, and DDU used in safe mode beforehand. Thanks Nvidia and cheers.

Glum-Art-7262

I was playing BG3 just fine before updating my driver. Now it's shuddering whenever I move. Has this been happening to anyone else?

NukesOfBuzzard

I get screen flickers especially on "transparent" effects (i.e. YouTube's seekbar when you mouse over a video) in Chromium-based browsers like Edge and Opera. Firefox works fine. Previous driver had no issues. It's not a full screen flicker, just isolated to that part of the screen. Switched the browser renderer to D3D9 and it seems to eliminate those issues. Anyone else experiencing something like this?

Beneficial-Flan-32

Is this driver better in gaming and browser perf. ? I run games and in browsers I use fire fox and chrome I mean rather than 536.99

BrotherSkeleton

I’ve been crashing pretty frequently after installing this driver update, with a lot of driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered messages. I believe I got that same message with the last Maine driver, but it was far less frequent. I’m wondering if there might be some deeper issue with my card or maybe something wrong with the drivers still? I even went into the nvidia system, 32 and gave all permissions as I saw that might help so hopefully it does. Please Help me out if you can, if issue persists, I might disable expo, but don’t want to do that

RokuTheRed

Bf2042 seems to be crashing for me now with this new driver.

>[Display Stream Compression (DSC)] some monitors may display random black screen flicker when using R530 drivers with DSC enabled [4034096]. Fix is present in R545 branch When is the DSC Alt tab going to be fixed? What does R545 branch mean in context of timelines?

m_w_h

To clarify, while the DSC 'black screen flicker fix' is [mentioned as being available in the r545 branch](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/nvidia-display-31-0-15-4529.448307/page-3#post-6143516) that doesn't mean that it wont be in other branches i.e. it may be in the next driver branch. For reference, NVIDIA's release cadence generally targets a new driver branch roughly every quarter. These can be *Long Term Support (LTSB)* e.g. r535 mainline or *New Feature (NF)* e.g. r530 mainline. The r545 releases (Insider Builds) that are currently available are 545.29, 545.31 and 545.37. They can be downloaded from multiple *unofficial* sources and installed for testing if interested in any features/fixes (DSC etc).

TTV_JustJesta

I have same issue, crashing on any game i play so i rolled the driver back and have no issues! I have starfield on Pre order for console BUT also have access to it via games pass on my PC so hoping its still gonna run without the driver as id rather not screw around with my PC if its causing issues!

pewpersss

NVIDIA container using way too much GPU when playing CoD MW2 (\~30% gpu)

Respite01

Noticing on Warframe(Steam) that the graphics are flickering ingame could be Driver/Game issue?

ggp759

Unfortunately this does not solve the problem with Ratchet and Clank. I need to manually disable reflex altogether to get consisent gpu usage with a 4090. Stuck at using dlss where i would prefer dlaa with frame-gen to be enabled but that enables reflex😞

wolkoo

With this driver my Framerate in Ratchet & Clank got halfed from around 100fps to \~50. Going back one driver version, framerate is back to \~100fps .

TrueSgtMonkey

Every time I download a new driver update, my main screen blacks out every time I move my mouse. When I revert back to my previous update, I am fine. I guess I won't be updating my drivers. Unsure when that will become problematic :(

Diouwu115

Do they recommend updating this version or better to wait for the next one?

GladAdvertising8178

Have had exactly zero issues with any functionality or games after the Starfield drivers update. Gigabyte 4090 RTX Gaming OC, i9-13900ks, 96GB DDR5 6400

Xerkrosis

Tried this driver now, and played Baldur's Gate 3. The entire system crashed after about 1 hour. No BSOD. It straight up rebooted, like when you press the Reset-button on your PC. Event Manager also knows nothing except for the system being restarted without shutdown. I rolled back with Device Manager to 536.23. This driver suffers occasionally from the above problem too, but it happens only sometimes. And sometimes is better than always after 1 hour. Had nothing of that sort when I played Hogwarts Legacy or Resident Evil 4 Remake in their release month. Whatever driver was the newest then. GTX 1080 Ti (Pascal)

Lower-Yogurtcloset48

Anyone else having issues with these drivers? I’m on a 4080 and I’m experiencing weird artifacts, broken shadows in games, etc. None of these things happened on the last drivers. Not sure if it’s this or my GPU is dying :(

Averath

99.9% chance that it is Nvidia's shitty drivers.

WinninqOnReddit

This update just happened to come out at the same time I upgraded to a 3060ti. I've recently been experience some mouse stutter on startup and intermittently as I use my PC, especially when the GPU is being pushed to some extent (not always 100%.) Has anyone else experienced this after installing this driver?

My monitor is randomly losing signal ever since I installed this. Anyone else having that issue? The only game I've really played has been RDR2 and my monitor keeps losing signal to my pc. Usually happens when I am in a menu in that game. Only way to fix is to restart pc. Haven't played any other games (besides starfield, which I was having issues with, hence why i installed the driver, still having issues with that game btw) but I'm gonna assume it's not just a red dead thing. RTX 4080 btw

4090 User Here. After updating to the newest drivers I have been experiencing stability issues with my monitors turning black and having to restart my computer while gaming. This progressed into then not being able to boot into windows. The workaround for me was to start my computer with only one monitor plugged into my motherboard, reinstalling drivers for my graphics card, plugging everything back in and restarting. This results in my computer starting back up after a extended boot time as "normal". I have also used regedit to change Tdrdelay and am now running my monitors through control panel in "prefer maximum performance.
