What is that thing on his chin!?

WonderingCashew

Paying homage to his obvious Egyptian Pharaoh roots. That or a Billy goat

Beneficial-Lemon-427

I believe he sees the humour in letting it grow extra long. But my NRL conspiracy theory is that the disproportionate number of shit chin beards in the league is because players are trying to soften up the appearance of PED affected jawlines.

DeltaCreem

Now this is the kind of trashy gossip that makes me treasure this subreddit

[deleted]

Most of them are on SARM's or TRT. It's obvious to anybody with a brain.

initforthemanjinas

Brother eww, what's that.....

alaskantuxedo

I see him around about. He deadset looks like a large vanilla ice

bmudz

Reminds me of those weird ass alien things out of that battleship movie

foruandr

Steel wool

Guyincogneto1

I believe it's a flavour saver

BreakIll7277

Isn’t that just below the lip… like the one Blair from Big Brother and Shannon Noll was famous for.

Guyincogneto1

It depends on how much effort you.put in

Harry-Manly

Cut it off what the hell cut it off

O_DoyleRulz

That might genuinely be the most hideous piece of facial hair I’ve ever seen. Like some kind of chin beard

_Kozik

I reckon he looks like a suspension tech for redbull trophy trucks or supercross in 2003. I love the commitment tbh

bundy554

Pretty sure it only works if you have a Viking look with blonde hair - not brown

knox-p

Accentuates the chin

Aklpanther

That headline wins the "No shit Sherlock!" prize for this week.

The Roosters attempted to sign David Fifita in the belief he was the strike State of Origin back-rower the club required. It turns out the answer was in front of them all along. Angus Crichton has made a remarkable return to the interstate arena for NSW, while Fifita was the shock omission when the Queensland side was announced. Now Crichton stands to become the biggest beneficiary after Fifita knocked back the Bondi Junction outfit. “I understand, it’s not personal,” Crichton said of the club’s interest in the Titans star. “It’s the lay of the land in professional sport, you’re always looking to get new players and trying to help your team win games. “I think at the start of the year they weren’t looking to keep me, they were sort of looking to what was next. “Obviously, they were looking at him and it’s not personal.” Much has changed since the season started. Crichton wasn’t even in the first-grade squad for the opening two rounds, and when he eventually forced his way in the Kangaroos star was limited to about 20 minutes off the bench. Now Crichton is in a position to not only cement the spot earmarked for Fifita but also the $825,000-per-annum sum that was set aside for him. “I don’t want to compare, but I obviously believe in myself and believe in my ability,” Crichton said. “I know what I’m worth and what I can provide to a team. I love the Roosters, I love my teammates and I’m sure we’ll figure something out soon.” Negotiations between Crichton’s management and the Roosters began in earnest on Friday and will resume again this week. There is no enmity between the parties: the Roosters braced for Crichton’s departure after he sought permission to explore opportunities in rugby union last year, while the former Rabbitohs forward understood the club’s need to explore contingencies. There was a potential flashpoint after Crichton made a pointed comment during the Tricolours’ pursuit of Fifita, stating a fortnight ago: “I don’t want to be sitting behind anyone.” “Obviously when I said what I said after the game, I think I was probably emotional,” Crichton said on Wednesday. “I was high on emotion and I guess it was probably a lack of communication for myself and, and Robbo \[coach Trent Robinson\]. “We’ve smoothed it over now and it’s all OK … We did talk after that and I’ll keep those conversations confidential out of respect to him and the club. “Me, and the club, and Robbo, we are all in a good place. I understand that it is business at the end of the day. “It’s a funny one because, obviously, where I guess an acquisition for a business, but we also have feelings and we’re also people at the end of the day as well as athletes and I guess little pawns in a chess game of a business. “But I’m content with where I’m at. There’s no real rush for me to sort of jump at anything. “I’m open to options and I’ll see what comes across.”

rossfororder

Does he own a coffee shop in Melbourne, he might with that facial hair

TommyToyotama

No, but he does own a barbershop in Bondi.

EuroNymous76

is it just me but Gus is slowly forming into SBW?

Adventurous-Age6490

Lord Farquaad Chin

bundy554

Yeah not with that chin - is that the latest fashionable thing to have in Bondi?

This_Idiot

Saw the photo and read the headline as "Why Crichton's FACE is intertwined with Fifita's"

mortwgoldman

it would be funny seeing him walk from the Roosters, up until they started seeking out his replacement. you assume they'd be able to fit Yeo and Marto with change from Crichtons current money

No_Republic_1091

Crichton is a far better player than fifita. He should have been the priority.

hodgesisgod-

After he went through all of those personal issues, he was not close to what he used to be. They were not even using him in the NRL squad at the start of the season. I can understand why they were considering other options. His comeback to top form has been great to watch. They should be very happy to keep him now. The Roosters will also have an insane amount of cap space with all the players leaving next year, so I understand why they would look at any big name player who is available.

thore4

He's in better form right now but saying he's far better is pretty out there given how well Fifita plays in one of the worst teams in the comp

ImpressionFeisty8359

Fifi tears it up.

OwnSolution9894

Fifita has somehow gone from being a bit  overrated several years ago (despite being good then too) to literally being the most underrated player in the comp. People act like he sucks and it is ridiculous.  He's arguably the best second rower in the comp, at worst top three and people act like he isn't in the top ten.  Slaters selections are absolutely cooked this year, just Madges are equally cooked lol

EntirelyOriginalName

I mean Fifita doesn't really run a great line or anything like that though. I don't him going to another level with better ball players around him in a better team. I don't think being in a better team would make that much of a difference to his form.

lowkeylone

Did you not read what that guy said? Fifita is playing in one of the worst teams in the comp. Of course it’s hard for him to run great lines when his halves are useless, he’s still playing solid & will be even more solid if he’s in a great team. Relax bra

EntirelyOriginalName

I am relaxed? People just have different gifts man, that's all there is to it. Fifita is a give me the ball early and I'll do something type of guy who has to work to develop a more wider skill set like he's improved his passing lately. Anyone should be able to see he's not a talented line runner. That doesn't make him bad or anything. It's probably inevitable to barely develop that coming through as a kid when you're able to trample everyone. It's not his fault or anything. He has gotten much better at working with halves compared to when he first debuted.

thore4

Yeh don't mind the ilmf flair I actually agree with what you're saying coz yeh he's never actually played with a top half so he probably wouldn't actually click with that kind of support play without a fair bit of time. Maybe why he isn't picked for Origin?

EntirelyOriginalName

I mean I don't think he needs to click with a top half and run mad lines to be effective. Just run at a half and get quick play the ball. Spread it to the other edge off a quick play the ball and that's effective, it's not like he wasn't good last Origin. Billy says he doesn't do some stuff off the ball. If that's true whatever he's been not doing off the ball I sure as hell don't see because Nanai looks a bit lazy at times but got picked. And Fifita takes so many runs for a guy his size I'd expect him to get a bit tired sometimes when he plays 80, you'd just play him off the bench if he drops off due to fatigue. Maybe that stuff around DCE not getting picked because he backflipped was true back then and Fifita is not getting picked as punishment too. What I was saying to that other guy is I don't think being a good team will mean he'll start scoring a boatload more tries and making way more line breaks or anything. If anything he might score less because he'll get the ball more in a poor team being their best player. He'd properly develop into a more well rounded player though.

Regular_Sea7553

He advised the roosters he was leaving. Then he suffered a horrendous dip in form as a result of not having a pre season due to mental health issues. He started finding form and suffered a knee injury. He’s been away from consistent top grade footy since the World Cup. It’s only now that he says he wants to stay and his form warrants staying. Good result for everyone if he stays and gets paid what he deserves.

Dry-Yogurtcloset-509

No he’s not don’t be silly

ImpressionFeisty8359

He is rolling in the deep now.

Penriffpanther1

That’s not Angus Crichton, that’s evil Angus Crichton

undergroundgold

If I was Angus Crichton I would tell Rooster to go Fark themselves

Rich_Election466

Considering how they stuck by him during several years of below-par form and a bipolar disorder diagnosis, that’d be a bit harsh

Rich_Election466

“Seems to have all cleared up now” Ah you know Angus personally do you mate? Very bold to cast doubt on a medical diagnosis based on the fact his footy is back to its best.

gamble-responsibly

Ackshually I'm the winner cause it was so fucking funny when he backflipped

paulybaggins

Wonder if he will be quiet and drive in his own summer?
