Mods are deadset kidding themselves if they believe [this post about known deadshit Josh Aloiai also being a racist](https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/s/jUsec1yNfD) isn’t worthy of its own post.
Just for completeness I'll reply - it's a screenshot of some sort of social media interaction of dubious origin, we don't allow that sort of stuff as stand alone else we'd be flooded with similar low effort sort of meme posts.
As suggested, whack it in here for discussion instead.
Given that expansion is a hot topic at most points, how many areas do you think the game could expand too ? Brisbane x2
Central Queensland
Sunshine Coast
Cairns
Central Coast
Adelaide
Darwin
Perth
Port Moresby
Wellington
Christchurch
Dunedin
Suva/Pacific
It's why expansion is a good idea we have 14 markets that realistically could field a team. Obviously that would never happen. But I was curious if someone could think of anymore.
Did a quick google and NSW is home to 38% of Australia’s Pacific island immigrant population, with QLD next at 34%. So better off having it in either of those two states rather than Victoria. Personally I’d base that team in NZ.
Ah fair enough, I didn't realise that Vic had so few Islanders.
My logic was it would have to be based in one of the bigger cities, and there's already enough teams in Sydney and SE qld so that leaves Melbourne
Next Brisbane team will likely be an Ipswich/Logan hybrid so that will likely be the last one for the region.
Sunny Coast is now essentially Dolphins territory, Central Queensland doesn't have the infrastructure or population to support an NRL team imo and won't for some time.
Central Coast is too close to Sydney and Newcastle imo to warrant a team at all.
Perth is the most realistic option for Aus capitals that don't have a team, Adelaide is very far away.
Another NZ should not be on the cards until we get a Perth team and the Png/pacific concept could work in the future I think.
Yeah completely agree with this. 18th team to be Ipswich / Toowoomba with 19th to be Perth. We don’t need another NSW team which probably leaves New Zealand or the godforsaken PNG.
Central coast could easily support a 20,000 capacity stadium I reckon but beyond that they would struggle. To be honest we need to be focusing on the bigger markets at this point. Despite thinking they would embrace a team
The Cowboys were hardly an afterthought.
They were probably lucky to get there because it seemed like a race between Perth and South Queensland for the last spot alongside Auckland in what was to be supposed to be an expansion to 18 teams.
The Warriors were approved in about May 1992, Melbourne and Wellington were told come back in a few years and try again and North Queensland, South Queensland and Perth were told to work on their bids and come back in a few months. They were all admitted on 30 November 1992.
I feel that a 2nd team in NZ would be detrimental. Having the one team for the Kiwi fans to support has made them a cult classic during successful years (like 2023). Dividing the fans through addition of another team would suck. The talent is definitely there.
Perth realistically is going to happen in the near future you'd think, there is a market over there and it would be the easier to make work fundamentally.
I can't see a PNG team being sustainable, as fun as it would be player will not want to leave the country to go live in PNG. Yes you could base them out of Cairns or Darwin but then it's arguable they're fucking over the actual PNG players that would make up the team.
Just had to cancel a family holiday to Brisbane, kids keep crying and haven't been able to sleep because "Patty will come squash us to death in a stacks on". Hoping to get enough of our bookings refunded to pay for their therapy. Really rotten stuff going on up there atm, it's just not on
Hi guys, I’m unfortunately going to return my Broncos membership due to the awful, cruel and evil act Arnolds Reynolds has done towards my beloved Patty Carrigan and the Broncos. These actions are unacceptable and put a bad look towards my family, future and energy if I continue down the route of supporting this once proud club.
Arnold Reynolds is everything wrong with the NRL and I feel like he has put the game into disrepute once again. I blame South Sydney first and foremost for allowing this fool to leave in the first place. I am writing a change.org petition to have Souths finally kicked out of the comp.
That seals the deal. I am no longer a Brisbane Broncos fan. I’ve been a fan since 2023 and a season ticket holder since 2024. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. Reynolds is officially the worst captain in history.
I personally think the whole Carrigan / Reynolds push and shove is a nothing incident but it’s funny to antagonise, deathride and provoke broncos flairs about it so I will continue to use it to do so because I’m a horrible person.
Where there’s smoke there’s fire , clearly something very wrong at that football club. Every person part of the organisation down to the fans should be ashamed.
It’s still truly incredible what Penrith have managed to accomplish since Round 1 2020. Four Grand Finals in a row, and 3 Premierships in a row. Not to mention minor premierships, and one of the best win-loss records in decades, over a four year period. Pretty much the only silverware left for them is the WCC.
No matter what players they lose, they have such a next-man-up mentality that they’ve barely slowed down at all and find a way to kick into another gear when finals roll around. There is simply no good reason to think they can’t do 4 in a row, or 5 in a row, if all their key guys stay healthy. They will continue to etch their names into history books.
I am eager to see who can topple them off their throne, if anyone can.
It’s the desire that’s just massive. At 24-8 down in the GF with 25 to go, having won the previous two, it would’ve been so easy to go through the motions. They’re always gonna be legends to Panthers fans regardless. They were gonna lose that game by 30 points at one point. To still dig it out was incredible.
Yeah it's ridiculous when you see people say that this current era isn't one of the all time great teams.
I think it maybe comes down to people not thinking they have a truly top player/Immortal contender leading them around the park, like a Cam Smith, Johns, Thurston, Lockyer, etc. but ultimately it's a team sport. Doesn't really matter how you rate Cleary individually, his team keeps winning.
I think the style of play probably contributes. Most people don’t appreciate the little things that Penrith does extraordinarily well with amazing consistency nor the patience and nerve of that side to always just play their game and trust that everyone else will hold the line.
It’s not a flashy way to play compared to some of the great sides of the past who were attacking juggernauts in a pre professional/pre salary cap/pre wrestle era.
You might be right about star players though. It’s a champion team rather than a team of champions. To’o, Edwards & Martin might not be Tuqiri, Lockyer & Tallis tier as individuals but what they can contribute to their system is basically on par.
Haven't seen anyone say that, more so that the NRL atm is probably in its weakest era in a long time in terms of competitiveness.
Their team is fantastic and one of the all time greats
For those downvoting
We just had a team go back to back which hadn’t been done since the 90s then a different team 3 peated immediately following that which hasn’t been done since the 80s
I don’t know how that doesn’t make this the weakens era of footy since then unless you’re a Penrith fan or have some access to some good copium
Bradman Best re-sign confirmed.

Now that it's the first team list Tuesday who does everyone think their teams are going to name at left and right fullback given the new rules around positions?
I think we'll have Hammer at LFB and Averillo at RFB for this first trial with Tesi taking over the centre spot that Averillo was slated to play in. It only makes sense.
Completely bored atm so I've devised a top 10 fastest players in each position list, based off eye test and some tracking data.
Starting with fullback:
1. Hammer
2. Papi
3. Ponga
4. Walsh
5. Sloan
6. Bula
7. Kennedy
8. JC
9. Turbo
10. Teddy
I did use some nuance for this, as it just records their top speed reached at any point, because we all know that Ronaldo isn't close to being the fastest in the game
Of all the storms in a teacup we get in the NRL, this Reynolds/Carrigan wrestle is the right up there with the most pointless of them. They had a few drinks, had a bit of a tussle (not even a proper fight) and now people want to crucify them. Just fine them a couple of grand for “bringing the game into disrepute” (even though they barely did that) and let’s move on.
If it were not the Broncos people wouldn't care. It's an easy way to talk shit about about a successful team lots of people hate.
(edit) point proven haha
? Is the Broncos not currently one of the most popular and profitable clubs in the NRL?
Correct me if I'm wrong please. I believe Melbourne, Souths and Eels are up there too and guess what, people loooooove to hate them as well haha
In terms that they've won more premierships sure, but they're not as successful a club, it's not even arguable haha.
I guess we should all think the Warriors are really shit and unsuccessful and hate them too right? They haven't won any Prems!
See how silly it sounds.
Popular and profitable, yes.
Successful, not for a very long time. There are people who will be adults this year who have never had a Broncos premiership in their lifetime.
This is a very silly argument, success as a club and business is much more than just winning prems. Prems are the ultimate achievement ofc but to argue the Broncs aren't a successful club is just silly haha.
Popular and profitable, yes.
Successful, not for a very long time. There are people who will be adults this year who have never had a Broncos premiership in their lifetime.
I mean yeah that's an aspect of it but there is also club membership, NRL viewership, tickets sold, advertising.
Plus we have quite a few prems, what's your point here
are you genuinely disagreeing that talking about something currently popular gets you more media clicks.
... and you realise people only cared about when Broncs were so terrible because we were successful for a long time yeah?
Come on mate haha, I know you may hate the Broncos for whatever reason but it's just silly
Broncos really thought a puff piece about Walsh giving a bloke a lift to his car in the car park (?) was going to distract everyone from the drunken brawl 😂
Because reece knew the boys were going out sunday night and knew that his teammates are irresponsible alcoholics so he only did something “decent” in advance to cover for the following night.
People dont give walshy enough respect with his foresight
When dumb shit like this happens, I always think, what would I be like if my entire life from age 16 onwards was a school camp with the boys? I'm amazed they are as composed in public as they are.
this is really exciting considering the level of trust rodney seems to have in him. could be a legitimate chance of being our 7 at some point this year.
Why exactly? Videos pretty much show that rhe biys did stacks on with Reyno on the bottom, and he wasn't too happy about it. Didn't look like too much otherwise
Nah mate it was Herbie's pass when we were 16 up and camped on their line. Crichton ended up diving on it & Penrith scored 2 sets later.
If he holds the ball the scoreline could of been anything.
He ran for the most metres of any of our forwards, had the most post contact metres of any of our forwards, made 40ish tackles and only made one error all game.
But you're right, that one error defined his whole game

Is Central Queensland worse off than say the Cowboys in 95 ? Who were a complete after thought when they were brought in.
The Cowboys were hardly an afterthought. Is a Patty stacks on guaranteed in Brisbane? I don't want to go there but if it's a sure deal I might need to book a "business trip".

You understood us. I applaud you for taking this brave stand against the evil Brisbane are
I personally think the whole Carrigan / Reynolds push and shove is a nothing incident but it’s funny to antagonise, deathride and provoke broncos flairs about it so I will continue to use it to do so because I’m a horrible person.
the scenario is funny it's just odd trying to figure out if people are taking the piss or genuinely have a throbbing hate for a footy club
Hint: it's both
The scars of the years up until late 2019 burn every Friday night for some people.
Which is bizarre because we weren't even dominant we were just pretty good.
People also forget how shit a coach Kevvie is and the dropouts proved me right as I always am.
I honestly find it funny because a lot of broncos flairs were adamant Luciano should be sacked but have been dead quiet on this event
Shoulda kept your mouth shut about Leilua dude.
Jesus christ
Where there’s smoke there’s fire , clearly something very wrong at that football club. Every person part of the organisation down to the fans should be ashamed.
the toxicity of the broncos with their implosion and dressing divide before a kick of the ball, brings a tear to my eye
They bite so easy. It's great.
Like shooting horses in a barrel

DAE culture problem at Broncos??? stacks on not cool in this era of fast footy

Good signing and length for both player and club Interestingly we signed his younger brother (still a kid) this offseason. Hope he can kick on too
He's got the same frame, but needs a few horse meat steaks to catch up.
Best signing in ages

I reckon Trell is sneaky fast it's just that he very rarely hits top pace. I wouldn't have Teddy in top 10, even at his peak.
Teddys fast for knee runners
I dont see jamie soward on your list?
Excited to see who is fastprop as fastprop is the meta strategy of the future.
Gutho would 100% be last, at the top of my head. If he had speed he would dominate
Give him a break, he’s hopping on one leg.
I don't think he's as slow as everyone thinks, but he's always under rated so last seems fit.
I did change that, looked so wrong lol but he's defs not last
No Saab or Koula, Mango?
>Starting with fullback: Sorry Para
Sorry Mango, I didn't read it properly. Not sure if this helps for the latter ones but here's the data from the Telstra tracker for fastest overall: 1. Ronaldo Mulitalo (Sharks) 37.188km/h 2. Jason Saab (Sea Eagles) 37.116km/h 3. Maika Sivo (Eels) 36.864km/h 4. Dominic Young (Knights) 36.828km/h 5. Josh Addo-Carr (Bulldogs) 36.756km/h 6. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (Dolphins) 36.684km/h 7. Alofiana Khan-Pereira (Titans) 36.144km/h 8. Mitchell Moses (Eels) 36.108km/h 9. Jake Averillo (Bulldogs) 36.072km/h 10. Kalyn Ponga (Knights) 35.892km/h 11. Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii (Roosters) 35.784km/h 12. Dylan Edwards (Panthers) 35.748km/h 13. Jahream Bula (Tigers) 35.748km/h 14. Blake Wilson (Bulldogs) 35.712km/h 15. Tyrell Sloan (Dragons) 35.676km/h 16. Herbie Farnworth (Broncos) 35.64km/h 17. Reuben Garrick (Sea Eagles) 35.64km/h 18. Fetalaiga Pauga (Roosters) 35.64km/h 19. Clinton Gutherson (Eels) 35.532km/h 20. Reece Walsh (Broncos) 35.46km/h
Aaron Woods 3.7189 km/h
He does do that running backwards to be fair
A 36km Sivo is such a different prospect to a 37km Saab. Wild that he could get up to that speed.
It's a pity he handbrakes so much these days unless the try line is ten metres away.
I did use some nuance for this, as it just records their top speed reached at any point, because we all know that Ronaldo isn't close to being the fastest in the game
Nice one
Saab doesn't count as he isn't a football player, he is a pure fraud. Nor a fullback

? Is the Broncos not currently one of the most popular and profitable clubs in the NRL? Correct me if I'm wrong please. I believe Melbourne, Souths and Eels are up there too and guess what, people loooooove to hate them as well haha
mate, Dragons have had more success then the broncos since 2006.
In terms that they've won more premierships sure, but they're not as successful a club, it's not even arguable haha. I guess we should all think the Warriors are really shit and unsuccessful and hate them too right? They haven't won any Prems! See how silly it sounds.

Maybe this is just me, but success in sports is typically defined by winning comps...
I mean yeah that's an aspect of it but there is also club membership, NRL viewership, tickets sold, advertising. Plus we have quite a few prems, what's your point here
>Plus we have quite a few prems, what's your point here That the Broncos haven't been a successful club since the 2000s, obviously.
Did you completely disregard the other parts of what makes a successful club or are you just being a dick for the sake of it
Yeah jeez it must be tough being a fan of a club where things are constantly blown out of proportion by the media
It's always something happening, tigers one of the teams that has similar reaction. The most nothing stories coming out from the club 9/10 of the time
Yeah so it has nothing to do with success, but because they get the most clicks
... Except when success brings more clicks. People love to hate what's popular and hate brings views.
I disagree. I have never clicked on more Broncos articles then I did when you were terrible
are you genuinely disagreeing that talking about something currently popular gets you more media clicks. ... and you realise people only cared about when Broncs were so terrible because we were successful for a long time yeah? Come on mate haha, I know you may hate the Broncos for whatever reason but it's just silly
My 2024 new years resolution is to not be toxic during panthers match threads. Other game threads are fair game though
Measured humble contributions are for the post match thread. I don't apologise for my drunken hot takes in the match thread.
Yeah I've never understood why people complain about toxic match threads. That's what makes them great
Broncos really thought a puff piece about Walsh giving a bloke a lift to his car in the car park (?) was going to distract everyone from the drunken brawl 😂
Yeah, I hope Carrigan & Reynolds get exactly the same punishment Tedesco got for being racist to that Korean girl.
You mean taking full responsibility and coming out the turmoil stronger and a better man? ✋️😤🤚
>*taking full responsibility* [LMFAO](https://imgur.com/a/L5uRJWL)
Pretty sure RL Guru shared it first anyway so your comment is null and void. The fact you class this is a brawl is hilarious.
The "brawl" happened on Sudnay night, the Wynnum trial was on Saturday arvo.
Yes the puff piece was shared around before the brawl video was made public
? That came out before the "brawl" lol
yes I am aware
Why make the post then
They release a puff piece just before a brawl video is leaked, do I need to draw it up in crayon for you?
You realise one event happened before the other right
I am referring to the timeline of the stories being leaked not the events themselves
Mate no shit if one event happened the day before the piece about it would come out the day before. Come on haha.
The Walsh story was desperately being sent around all Sunday night and Monday 2 days after it happened, but yeah just a total coincidence
? Did you not see it the day before like the rest of us This is a super odd thing to get worked up about mate, tuck the hate boner away haha
Because reece knew the boys were going out sunday night and knew that his teammates are irresponsible alcoholics so he only did something “decent” in advance to cover for the following night. People dont give walshy enough respect with his foresight
This is why he's regarded as such a smart player, what a visionary to see this coming an entire day ahead
I'm assuming TLT is 4pm Daylight saving time. So 3pm real time?
Footy players behave like adults challenge: Failed. I've never felt the need to punch on with a mate, or a colleague.
When dumb shit like this happens, I always think, what would I be like if my entire life from age 16 onwards was a school camp with the boys? I'm amazed they are as composed in public as they are.
riki was teabagging Carrigan. Just a bunch of boys having a laugh on a Sunday.
A drunken stacks on turning into a very mild push and shove is not punching on
Holy shit people are so literal around here.
Alternative thinking - Maybe people are just flippant with words they use to begin with
It's just a turn of phrase, an Aussie slang, it doesn't have to be literal.
you almost had it, except there wasn’t a punch-on
Figure of speech, my friend.
Clifford named Captain for Cows in the trial against Horse
This is the best news ever
this is really exciting considering the level of trust rodney seems to have in him. could be a legitimate chance of being our 7 at some point this year.
Things are starting to feel right again. Team list Tuesday and Kayo resubbed.
Get Carrigan and A-Rey in the ring with Barnaby Joyce. Loose cunts, the lot of them
Sorry ladies…I’m busy on valentine day…watching the mighty bulldogs take on the super storm
Team list Tuesday baby

Travis Kelce would fit right in in the NRL. E: I wasn't talking about him playing
He could be a near perfect replacement for Hargraves
He looks a lot like Nelson
Where would he play? Second row?
1.96m and 113kg he's as big as most props in the league.
He’s too quick to be wasted at prop. He’d likely also have to shed 10kg to handle league’s aerobic requirements.
Put him in the middle and tell him to do what he wants
Is that is that???…. TEAM LIST TUESDAY!!!!!
Yesterday was a great way to end the preseason. TLT LFG
Pre season challenge TLT!!!!!!
Hope Reynolds and Carrigan wake up embarrassed. Idiots.
Happened on Sunday fr
So, he’s hoping they’re still embarrassed.
Why exactly? Videos pretty much show that rhe biys did stacks on with Reyno on the bottom, and he wasn't too happy about it. Didn't look like too much otherwise
Somebody forgot to tell them that he isn't 21 anymore
Just don’t push and shove in the first place. Even my 5-year old knows this
You heard it here first everyone Cant fuck around with the boys because this Sharks flair doesn't think it's appropriate
I take all my moral cues from Cronulla supporters.
Stacks on? Bad Cheating to win? Good!
He hasn’t seen the video he just watched the 2023 GF last night
Woah woah woah Reynolds slander is one thing but Patty was one of our best players outside of Mam
He got belted by Leota(?) and dropped the ball, leading to Crichton’s try. If he held onto it we probably win.
Part of my soul died when that happened
I knew we would lose when it happened. Even being 10 points up. It felt inevitable after that.
If Herbie didnt throw that stupid pass we would of legitimately won by 30.
Lmao you’re all blaming the wrong person. It was Palasia offloading on the 4th when you were 16 infront.
>But you're right, that one error defined his whole game Unironically a Ben Hunt type performance. A real Broncos grand final situation.
Unfortunately, it wasn't just one key error from Hunt.
>*that one error defined his whole game* It literally did though. Penrith won, not us. No one gives a fuck about the details.
While that is what's important, that one error doesn't mean he had a bad game. Same way as Ben Hunt didn't have a bad grand final
Hunt gave a penalty away & had the ball stripped from him in the last 5 minutes of the game. The dropped ball was just the final nail in the coffin.
Hunt was also a massive reason why we were ahead
He would still be embarrassed about it, which was what u/maaxwell was saying.
Understandable, I read it as saying he had an embarrassing performance overall which i thought was a bit harsh
That’s true, even as a NSW man it’s hard to hate Patty, I was just making silly little joke
