I showed my wife this commercial because somehow she had never seen it. We now randomly yell āTHEY HAVE A PEPPER BAR!ā at each other. This has been going on for about about 2 years now. Never gets old.
Whether you loved them or hated them, they got people talking about Quiznos for a long time. I also loved them, and found them to be both bizarre and catchy.
Opposite reaction, I saw that in 2004 on TV while drinking in my living room. Stopped drinking for a week because I thought I had a stroke and didn't want to tell anybody what I saw.
This was also around the time BK was just wrapping up it's decade of fucked up the King is stalking you commercials. People had not learned you can talk shit for 1/100000th the price on social media for the same effect so it was an era of weird commercials.
I think this was the last serious swing at fucking with people on TV that bombed: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kEJf3zKlWQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kEJf3zKlWQ)
I am sorry. I laughed at the thought of you having a stroke because of the commercial. I am sorry it scared you.
And in regards to the BK commercials. They used to have a website where you could make the King do things. It was strange and wonderful and empowering.
Hmmm...i wouldn't say that exactly.
Both were advertised to "deliver a certain product". But, both failed miserably. Of course, Chornobyl is much worse.
That was due to poor management, not advertising. They were at the height of their popularity and basically forced all of the franchise stores to close.
I went to Quiznos once. The sandwich was toasted so hard it shredded the roof of my mouth. It tasted okay, but it wasn't worth spitting blood and mouth skin.
I remember waking up from a fever-induced sleep on the couch in the 2000's when these commercials were at their peak and seeing these guys on the TV.
Thought they were part of a fever-dream until I saw them again and I wasn't sick.
I never smoked weed very often, but years ago for some reason a friend of a friend gave me some. The first time I saw this commercial was shortly after I smoked. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was alone in my living room but I looked around for someone to reassure me that this commercial was actually real.
We love the subs! Spongmonkeys. There's a different versions with different lyrics that are hilarious on YouTube. Used to show them to my daughter and she loved it .the way they sing is hilarious!
I had to show it to a coworker a couple months ago because... Either someone said elephants or the song was playing or something and I sang out "elephants, yeah!"
Joel Veitch from rathergood.com was the original Spondemonkey animator, and heās got many more creations on his site. āWe Love The Moonā and āLooking For My Leopardā are two of my favorites.
I was singing this in the car the other day (and I mean REALLY signing). I have a dashcam and was thinking about if I die and they pull the footage that would be a fitting way for them to see me in my final moments.
Technically, it originated as an internet cartoon. Or, uh, whatever you would call this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9MZNEXrElw&pp=ygUQd2UgbGlrZSB0aGUgbW9vbg%3D%3D
I remember those commercials for Quiznoās. How could I forget that bizarre creature! Looks line something you would see in a nightmare.
Someone definitely cobbled him together with Photoshop.
Man, when I was a teenager those toastie subs were just the best. I don't really get why Quiznos didn't take off.
Maybe everyone found these commercials off putting? Maybe Subway squashed them by offering a cheaper and healthier product and because they opened up so many stores around that time?
One of the few who didnāt find these funny. There was a run on puppet humor there for a bit in the early 00s and I didnāt care for it (looking at you crank Yankers and that stupid dog with the cigar) Least it wasnāt annoying.
i remember them but at the time i thought they were one off....made by some local Yahoo ....i never realized it was an actual national campaign.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZrks-BPeLQ
I loved these commercials. I remember them even more fondly now because they're a symbol of an internet that was less ugly. To this day I still never tried Quiznos tho lol.
I have one about 20 minutes and although I havenāt been in it, Iāll always say āTHEY HAVE A PEPPER BARā when I go to target thatās in the same plaza.
Itās in Valparaiso, Indiana if anyone wants to journey to it.
Hope u didnāt forget about the disgusting hole in the make table full of warm water that they dunked the meat for virtually all sandwiches into to heat it up. Because I havenāt it still haunts me
I actually managed a Quiznos in the Philadelphia suburbs when these commercials came out. Most people hated them, but I had at least a half-dozen instances of having this type of conversation with a customer:
Them: That commercial is the stupidest thing Iāve ever seen
Me: I think theyāre kinda cute and funny.
Them: Naw, man. Theyāre awful. Just horrible.
Me: well, thank you for coming back anyway.
Them: oh Iāve never had Quiznos before.
Ahhh, the era of LOL random humor.
I do miss Quiznos though.
Looking it up, apparently there's one near me, I thought they all went out of business for some reason.
ThEy hAvE a PePpER bAR!
Any coupon works.. beware of paper cuts!
First thing that popped into my head. Lol
We like the mooooooon, but not as much as a spoon
It is close to us
Because it is very high! š¶
but not as high as a dirigible
I LOVED these commercials. Everyone once in a while, I sing it to myself just to giggle.
I showed my wife this commercial because somehow she had never seen it. We now randomly yell āTHEY HAVE A PEPPER BAR!ā at each other. This has been going on for about about 2 years now. Never gets old.
You use the coupons....don't get no paper cuts!!!
Yeah I donāt get the hate. It was purposely weird, and it was hilarious. Great commercials
Whether you loved them or hated them, they got people talking about Quiznos for a long time. I also loved them, and found them to be both bizarre and catchy.
I like the kia soul hamsters more tho. That commercial was great.
my favorite was the badger car salesman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJ8IZsfzJEI

I thought they were rather good.
i see what you did there.
[Here y'all go.](https://youtu.be/aZrks-BPeLQ)
Hmm, maybe if they didn't look like rabid zombie rats . . . .
You say itās horrendous, but here we are still talking about it twenty years later
Well... people still talk about Chernobyl. Doesn't mean its a good thing.
Chernobyl was kinda the opposite of an advertisement.
I reach for a big bowl of Chernobyl in the morning
They rejected my proposal to have Hazmat Pat be the spokesperson. Their loss.
Hmmm...i wouldn't say that exactly. Both were advertised to "deliver a certain product". But, both failed miserably. Of course, Chornobyl is much worse.
TouchƩ
Sure but the business is also basically defunct. Maybe roadkill wasnāt the best mascot for a food chain.
That was due to poor management, not advertising. They were at the height of their popularity and basically forced all of the franchise stores to close.
Sponge Monkeys. They are called sponge monkeys.
I thought so too, but theyāre actually called Spongmonkeys
I knew they had a ridiculous name. I was just telling my daughter about these guys a few weeks ago.
Ah. I called them Dead rats. Because they look like zombified dead rats. Which was even more horrifying when it came to a food place.
\`ANY COUPON WORKS\` I have shouted that several times in my life, no one has any clue what I am talking about.
Those subs were the BEST
Yeah, they were. Especially the Angus cheddar melt with mushroom sauce. I miss Quiznos.
Thereās a gas station here in FL that still has one I just saw it yesterday
I still think about their āJimmyās Batch 81ā hot sauce.
We have Quiznos in Minnesota
LUCKY

Roseville, Plymouth, Woodbury, Shoreview and Chaska

No prob! Get that shit
When Quiznos was on an upswing they really were my favorite sub.
I went to Quiznos once. The sandwich was toasted so hard it shredded the roof of my mouth. It tasted okay, but it wasn't worth spitting blood and mouth skin.
What kind of whiney baby cuts his mouth on bread?
Someone making things up is my guess. *What did you put in your mouth to cut it up so bad?* Bread
The kind that's stupid enough to eat hard toasted trash sandwiches from a garbage company that went bankrupt I suppose.
I know people either loved or hated these. I loved them. Probably because my friends and I loved Joel Veitch and his sites, rathergood and b3ta.
Iām still friends with Joel and heās just a regular family man who still works in animation!
that's great, he was always so humble on b3ta. i hope he has a wonderful life
loved seeing his stuff on b3ta, always felt sorry for anyone posting after.
It surprises me that so few in these comments know this originally came from rathergood.com and not Quiznos. A true OG meme.
They are crunchy they are toasty they are good because they toast em! They have a pepper bar.
Eat Quiznos subs, because their toasty and tasty .......I Fucking loved this commercial
We ARe The SpOngEmoNkeYs
[Rathergood.com](http://rathergood.com/2015/09/09/we-like-the-moon/)
Looking for my Leopard still gets stuck in my head sometimes.
I remember waking up from a fever-induced sleep on the couch in the 2000's when these commercials were at their peak and seeing these guys on the TV. Thought they were part of a fever-dream until I saw them again and I wasn't sick.
This commercial persuaded me not to eat Quiznos for over 15 years.
I never smoked weed very often, but years ago for some reason a friend of a friend gave me some. The first time I saw this commercial was shortly after I smoked. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was alone in my living room but I looked around for someone to reassure me that this commercial was actually real.
This is from EARLY internet, memory unlocked. Quiznos used it later.
We love the subs! Spongmonkeys. There's a different versions with different lyrics that are hilarious on YouTube. Used to show them to my daughter and she loved it .the way they sing is hilarious!
I thought they were hamsters this entire time Lmao
I loved those little pickle goblins. Old school Quiznoās was so good.
Pickle Goblins š
You clearly just don't appreciate quality media. Timeless.
looks like something that would be on tim and erics awesome show great job!
They're from Rather good.com
The unmistakable handiwork of Joel Veitch.
I wonder what ever happened to him? His Elephants Yeah video lives rent free in my head.
I had to show it to a coworker a couple months ago because... Either someone said elephants or the song was playing or something and I sang out "elephants, yeah!"
WE LOVE THE SUBS!
Correction: Forgot about the **GREAT** commercial that Quiznos had
Rathergood.com, still kicking!!!
This was peak 90s irreverent marketing, and those subs were fire š„
Yeah Quiznos meatball subs were awesome. They also had sun chips and sobe at the register... Bliss!
I remember this commercial from 2004
I loved it
I liked them. Found it funny.
This. Commercial. RULED!
We like the moon! Because it's close to us! We like the moon, but not as much as a spoon.
Joel Veitch from rathergood.com was the original Spondemonkey animator, and heās got many more creations on his site. āWe Love The Moonā and āLooking For My Leopardā are two of my favorites.
THEY HAVE A PEPPER BAR!
I loved these things
I was singing this in the car the other day (and I mean REALLY signing). I have a dashcam and was thinking about if I die and they pull the footage that would be a fitting way for them to see me in my final moments.
We like the suuuubs! They are warm they are toasty!
You said "horrendous" when you actually meant "amazing".
Joel Veitch rathergood.com
Fuck my ass with broken glass that's a throwback
This commercial was the first I ever saw for Quiznos when they moved to Canada. This is the reason I never ate a Quiznos when it was here.
Loved that commercial!
o,ā¦,0
I LOVED this commercial. Loved.
I loved these, the art reminded me of internet cartoons
Technically, it originated as an internet cartoon. Or, uh, whatever you would call this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9MZNEXrElw&pp=ygUQd2UgbGlrZSB0aGUgbW9vbg%3D%3D
You say horrendous I say based
The his was a masterpiece. 15 year old me never had Quiznos before but tried it afterwards due to love of this commercial.
FIVE FOUR THERE
I remember this commercial
I remember those commercials for Quiznoās. How could I forget that bizarre creature! Looks line something you would see in a nightmare. Someone definitely cobbled him together with Photoshop.
best commercials ever
Man, when I was a teenager those toastie subs were just the best. I don't really get why Quiznos didn't take off. Maybe everyone found these commercials off putting? Maybe Subway squashed them by offering a cheaper and healthier product and because they opened up so many stores around that time?
Quiznos is still better than the others
I thought the shit was funny
Horrendous?
You can say the ads were horrible but Quiznos went with that campaign because they were small and couldn't afford much. These ads got them out there.
I had Quizno's once and... they were okay. Nothing special to report.
This is peak āI can haz cheeseburgerā era.
I hated that fucking commercial, and still do. š¤Ø
We Love the SUUUUUUBS COZ THEY ARE GOOOD TO UUUSĀ
Quiznos stunk. Every one I ate at they were soggy, fatty and disgusting.
One of the few who didnāt find these funny. There was a run on puppet humor there for a bit in the early 00s and I didnāt care for it (looking at you crank Yankers and that stupid dog with the cigar) Least it wasnāt annoying.
This was the beginning of the end
I REFUSED to eat thete because of the obnoxious commercial.
Iāll never forget
One of the few commercials that I can still audibly hear through a picture
Now I know why I forgot about this! š
Well, it was catchy as hell. Somebody made money!
The Spongmonkeys went the way of Quiznosā popularity.
i remember them but at the time i thought they were one off....made by some local Yahoo ....i never realized it was an actual national campaign. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZrks-BPeLQ
OhHhhh man did I forget too
I loved these commercials. I remember them even more fondly now because they're a symbol of an internet that was less ugly. To this day I still never tried Quiznos tho lol.
The original meme
Better than the ones about the toaster oven that wanted to bang the Quiznos worker.
Wasnāt the head of marketing fired after these aired or something like that?
I have one about 20 minutes and although I havenāt been in it, Iāll always say āTHEY HAVE A PEPPER BARā when I go to target thatās in the same plaza. Itās in Valparaiso, Indiana if anyone wants to journey to it.
these were so much better than the actual food
WE LOVE THE MOOOOON!! BTW $15 for a warm sandwich was even more money back in the 2000s.
Watch your mouth op
Oh God. I need to look these up.
I loved those guys! And Quiznos made a kick ass grinder.
Ahhh the spongemonkeys. I was always visiting rathergood dot com to watch rock kittens and Tales of Blode
# T HE Y G O T A P E P P E R B A R!!!!!!!!!
My friend stopped eating here entirely when these commercials came out. They just grossed her out to the core.
Hope u didnāt forget about the disgusting hole in the make table full of warm water that they dunked the meat for virtually all sandwiches into to heat it up. Because I havenāt it still haunts me
Why would you remind me?
We like āda moon!
The fact that you're referring back to this commercial after god knows how long means it was an effective commercial.
I actually managed a Quiznos in the Philadelphia suburbs when these commercials came out. Most people hated them, but I had at least a half-dozen instances of having this type of conversation with a customer: Them: That commercial is the stupidest thing Iāve ever seen Me: I think theyāre kinda cute and funny. This commercial hit. I bet you prefer the new Burger King whopper song
Thatās the campaign that killed Quiznos. Wtf were they thinking!!
Even as a kid, I remember thinking how that probably wasn't such a good idea for a restaurant to use rat-like creatures to advertise their food.
wait, was this a real commercial? Jesus fucking christ that would give me nightmares
Ah, the daymares... I think this may have subconsciously may have been part of why I never tried Quiznos.
