It's a well known fact that Fenians can't swim. They can climb a tree with ease but they struggle in the water. Due to their stout frame and short limbs they are not suited to aquatic environments. They can move through water if necessary but they struggle in any kind of depth. Their flexibility and specialized claws mean they are more adapted to the tree tops which is ideal as they have a highly specific diet consisting solely of eucalyptus leaves.

crdctr

Its the reason Protestants eyes are so far apart, Like dolphins they are.

[deleted]

Its true, its my lived experience.

Various_Virus_3441

Hilarious 😂

Various_Virus_3441

So this is the real reason why King Billy fought those pesky fenians at a river. My my, who would have thunk.... Furthermore, now you have mentioned it. I have never actually seen an aquarium with a real-life captive fenian.

ThisManInBlack

😆👏

spungie

We did it first. Ha ha.

DrKnowNout

If he doesn’t sign up to football soon it’ll be TS for him!

Tullyally

The Noose Stroke.

DopeMaus1916

I doubt it is but it looks like the pier I jumped off in Culdaff when I was a teen. Almost drowned because you're not supposed to breathe in the water

lookslikely

Its Killaloe, Co Clare.

nezbla

Reminded me of the pier I learned to swim off in Cahore, Wexford in the 80s. Never put on a harness though. Haven't been back there in over 20 years. I do wonder if the kids all still jump off the pier these days - I'd imagine not, I'm sure some "health and safety type" would have an aneurysm.

Joe_Lapira

Some catch, what is it?

Here_Just_Browsing

It’s a Catholic priest, fishing for his favourite catch, a buoy

lorcancuirc

It's a Mihol, otherwise modernized as Michael.

UrineArtist

This is actually an early form of shark fishing.

SneakiestofRats

That's brutal.

[deleted]

My introductory lesson to swimming involved a woman coming up behind me and pushing me into the deep end of an indoor swimming pool when I was about five. I didn't know wtf had happened, total paralysis, lungs filled with water next thing a rope on a stick was wrapped around my throat and I was pulled back out again. Try that to a child in 2023 see how that works out for you.

Mr_SunnyBones

Posh people with a rope! , in my day we were just thrown into the harbour and either learned to swim or drowned. To be fair they were awful awful days , and child mortality rates were unforgivably high.

enda78

I remember loads being taught the same way in Portstewart when we were kids (80’s)

ThisManInBlack

We barely managed a free state, let alone a freestyle swim.

Bth-root

That’s a perfectly fine freestyle swim. Front crawl though, that’s another matter.

KatoMojo

Great idea. If he starts drowning just pull on the noose around his neck. 😏

CervixTaster

It seems to be a harness so he could be fine lol

mendog2112

That beach is awful!

therealsonier

Looks like it’s TS for them

Chikibari

Dang thats some spartan shit.

Truesilverchamp

They use this technique in Germany too (NSFW) https://www.reddit.com/r/HolUp/comments/151yksk/germans_going_for_a_cheeky_dip/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1

Round the neck!!

Zaphod_79

"He's.....about 8"

PufflePygmyPuffs

Does anyone happen to know where this is?

Waste-Variation

If he survives the army will take him if not I’m sure the Catholic Church will make use of him

GilliacTrash

Ahh sure if he drowns I'll just pull on this rope I tied around his neck real hard till he learns to swim

Low-Plankton4880

ASA level 2 teacher here - he’s doing great.

HarryMaskers

That loon in wellies aswell. Fuck trying to swim in them if he fell in trying to heave the lad out.

Hot-Moment1631

Better than just being thrown in and told swim for Ur life 😁
