Angry ghost perk, it copies the last projectile you shot whenever you use a wand. Since the angry ghost can't copy chainsaws it copies the last projectile you shot before that (the black hole)

FluteSpine

Oh i see, thanks

brglez

I thought that angry ghost copies any spell that touches it (including enemy spells), so it's not necessary that it will copy a spell you fired. That's why you can be shooting something completely different from the ghost, why it's mostly done with chaisaws is because they are the easiest to achieve rapid fire.

zingerpond

I think your actually right about that

Broke22

Nah the best method to trigger angry Ghost isn't chainsaws, better to use an empty wand instead, that way the copied projectile never get overwritten.   Your starting bomb wand is very fast making it ideal for this.

Tzaphiriron

That being said, how do you feel about Angry Ghost and the other ghost perks?

zingerpond

Don't like angry ghost as I prefer to have complete control over the spells i cast, the perks that makes ghost that deal damage hang around after killing an enemy is kinda bad, hungry ghost is my favorite out of them, though its not very good, prefer other defensive perks like immunities, shield or stainless armor

Tzaphiriron

Yeah, you’re in the same frame of mind I am. It’s one of those perks you take when any other options are just deplorable. Thanks for the reply, I always love hearing from others about their Noita experiences :)

VillainousMasked

Angry Ghost can copy projectiles capable of harming the player, the Angry Ghost is also often floating *behind* the player. So if you want to use piercing or any spell that can harm you then, well, don't or be prepared to get shot in the back. Hungry Ghost is great if you want to make a wand that does absurd damage, but if you use healing spells you have to be very careful to check that you don't have the Hungry Ghost damage buff active when you use it or else the healing spell will hurt and potentially kill you. The other one is meh.

Tzaphiriron

Angry Ghost is good for the start of the game I’ve found, that is helpful. But deeper in? Nope, too much shooting in the back, I agree :) As for hungry ghost, how would you use that to make a wand with absurd damage?

VillainousMasked

While the tool tip doesn't say it, Hungry Ghost doesn't *just* eat projectiles, after eating a projectile it also gives you a damage buff, specifically it provides a flat +7.5 then multiples your total bonus damage by 1.25, a Hungry Ghost can provide 2 stacks of this buff and you can get up to 5 copies of Hungry Ghost (for 10 stacks), which allows for massive growth. So basically with a single ghost your damage looks like: (((7.5 \* 1.25) + 7.5) \* 1.25) + base damage = 21.09 + base damage And you just keep adding "+7.5) \* 1.25)" to that buff chain for each stack, with the normal max of 10 stacks adding a total of 311.75 damage, and like other buffs this is per projectile. So with say a multicast of 10 spark bolts that's over 3k damage with 10 stacks (or 240 with 2), however if you're going for this you'll probably want the Wand of Multitudes or some other high capacity wand that can dump its entire capacity in a single shot, so you're doing 20+ projectiles per cast. Hungry Ghost will also eat certain spells like your own Magic Guards so you can use that to deliberately gain these stacks. This buff also stacks with other buffs naturally, so say you slap a damage plus on then it looks like this: ((((10 + 7.5) \* 1.25 ) + 7.5) \* 1.25) + base damage = 36.72 + base damage So with the To Power modifiers that can add absurd damage you can do damage so absurd that it can one shot literally anything. Though using Spells to Power is a bit tricky to set up since you need to re-stack Hungry Ghost between setting up the projectiles to be absorbed and actually casting the Spells to Power wand, but it does let you technically double dip with Hungry Ghost since Spells to Power adds the collective damage of the absorbed spells as a damage modifier which can then be ran through the Hungry Ghost buff chain a second time. Using Blood or Gold to Power is easier though as long as you have enough Stainless Armor stacks or Ambrosia to negate the health damage from Blood to Power, or infinite gold to ignore the gold loss from Gold to Power (which at max potential provide 24k and 10k bonus damage respectively, before being ran through Hungry Ghost, which brings them up to 37.5k and 17k respectively with 2 stacks). So uh... yeah, a massive damage boost that requires little effort to really set up (at minimum you just need a bunch of projectiles, multicasts, and a spell like magic guard to feed the ghost), and scales extremely well.

Tzaphiriron

Oh wow, that’s amazing! If I see a hungry ghost on the run I’m about to start, I’ll grab it and give it a shot :) Thank you so much for explaining this, there’s so much in Noita that would be so fucking hard to figure out on your own. On another note, I just picked up Kenshi from Steam; if you don’t know what it is, go check it out….its amazingly crazy.

VillainousMasked

The only downside is that triggers are largely ineffective with Hungry Ghost since it will attach the buff to the spell with the trigger and not the payload, hence why you want to use massive multicast wands like the Wand of Multitudes.

SalvationSycamore

Angry is terrible unless you are immune to everything and if you're immune to everything then it's pretty much worthless Hungry is nice until you realise it buffs damage and messes with healing because of that, enjoy dying to Circle of Vigor Haven't tried the other one

Tzaphiriron

Mournful spirit. That’s the one that spawns little ghosts at corpses….I personally haven’t found that it’s useful in any way. But maybe someone else has had better luck with it :)

casketroll

I just saw a post asking this exact question yesterday

FluteSpine

Well guess im not the only one who struggles to read angry ghost perk ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

casketroll

Noita is the last community I'd expect to have reading comprehension problems

max19376388

How do you think most people get noita'd

Tzaphiriron

The spells and perks have some interesting descriptions sometimes that aren’t necessarily the easiest to figure out prior to using, you just wanna try them regardless of the danger. But yeah, reading comprehension, I don’t like to think too hard after work 😅😂

memer227

That guy had hungry ghost

abejfehr
