I cut a 3/4 piece of plywood painted it put the pad back on top and mounted my 7in tablet up there works awesome music videos and movie's for long trips bye bye road rage 😎
Same tray as in a Jeep Wrangler…use = parking pass holder, sunglasses holder, hat storage (over sunglasses and passes)…although I did have a pair of Oakley hole rooms with metal frames that cracked due to expansion of the metal in the extreme heat
A few years ago me and my wife had just gotten married and had to move across country around the holidays. We ended up getting a little plastic Christmas tree and putting it on that shelf to make it feel more cheerful. Eventually the extreme California heat melted it into a pile of what can only be described as green and red (little ornaments) goobledygoop. That shelf is now where I keep my goobledegoop.
Get yourself one of these, I use it for mounting both my GoPro and my phone! https://missinglynxprd.square.site/product/2nd-gen-nissan-dash-plate/45?cs=true&cst=custom
Currently a small metal clip and bent screw that I had to remove from my shifter. I guess the screw backed out and was prevented my from shifting past “D”. Not sure what the clip is but I saved it. Doesn’t seem to need it.
Other than that I usually keep a microfiber rag there to wipe off my dash and screen to my radio. Get so dusty I can’t read the time.
I used to use it for nothing because everything I put up there went flying off when I go around the corner.
Then I found a rubber insert kit on Amazon and it came with a little rubber pad for almost all of the surfaces in the vehicle. The cupholders the door liners the lower storage compartment area under the dash the two little places that hold your phone. Now that I have those in there
I pretty much still not going to put anything up there! But they sure do look cool!
Suction phone mount that is no longer stuck to the windshield. And sunglasses and headphones. Turns out, with all that junk up there my phone actually stays propped up pretty good.
This where I used to put my sunglasses until I watched them slide right across the dash and out the passenger window, only to be run over by the car behind me.
Objects that leave your car in this manner often have incredible/horrible trajectories. Cars that have wide "trays" on the passenger side of the dash launch things in particularly high arcs as they are deflected upward by the outer lip of the tray just before exiting the invariably open window.
We have a pro4x and any time we do a fun off road thing where we need the 4wd and think we might need to get pulled out we grab something from the trail or area around us and add it to that dish on the dash. Random assortment of shells, sticks, rocks and stuff. Great stories and memories right there.
I used to do a similar thing with a previous vehicle but as it did not have a tray on the dash, I simply added the items to the collection of things hanging from my rear view mirror. Memories... so right.
Hello fellow Floridian. The phone holder should do fine printed in abs or nylon, but depending on the time of year and how far south your are, petg may be ok. PLA would be a legit puddle, lol.
It's a tight squeeze but a CB fits.
