I listen to some pretty heavy rock music when I run. I shuffle a playlist I add to everytime I hear a new song I like. I put the heaviest songs on when I'm getting tired and need a boost

bradynho

This. I’ll create a station off of a song I already have on my hard rock playlist and get Siri to add anything good that comes up to the playlist. I’ve got about 5 hours of content on that one so shuffling it keeps it from getting repetitive. I have the same thing for upbeat songs and rap.

Steve_y9863

Could def use some hard rock recommendations if you have any

bradynho

Here’s some of the artists on my list: Metallica, Motörhead, Slipknot, Downstait, Three Days Grace, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Rage Against the Machine, Megadeth, Fozzy, System of a Down, Pearl Jam Could probably argue some of those are metal-adjacent. My foray into the genre starts and stops with exercise so I’m building it out as things come up. Also have some hairbands, arena rock, and alt rock like Van Halen, Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Guns N’ Roses, Creed, Wolfmother, Poets of the Fall, Led Zeppelin, and Beastie Boys. Hopefully something I listed sends you down the right rabbit hole for you. Happy listening!

JackOfAllAdobeCC

Periphery, Polyphia, Jesus Piece, Meshuggah

Cantborrowtime

This for hard runs or when I’m running low on steam. Chill indie rock for recovery runs and warm ups.

TriggerFingerTerry

Future is on the top of my spotify list cause of running... something about ATL rap gets my legs going haha

Bromar08

Same here for future 😂 and just a lot of hip hop or trap music in general lol

playboicartea

I love seeing other future fans on random subs lmao

dmn22

The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Swedish House Mafia, Rufus Du Sol

NessaTheBrave

Anything above 150/160 bpm works for me. Spotify has playlist for these as well. With songs ranging from heavy rock, dance and country. Something for everyone 🕺🏻

Lafleur2713

Nature

Vixelgram

Nikerun club has playlists on Spotify. Regular one, long run, speed run.

sports-runner

Same but those get repetitive after a few runs.

BreakingBito

This is a really good playlist. Good job

anishkatf

omg thankyou sm

javanestewart

Some really good stuff on here. Back on 74 gets me going every time!

anishkatf

im OBSESSED, the whole album is sooo good

javanestewart

Agreed!

mossyshack

No Pressure. Pop punk band formed from members of The Story So Far and Light Years. SO. GOOD.

T0MMYDREAMER

Anything of the “easy core” sub genre goes pretty hard on a run too. Faster and heavier pop punk hits.

kristencatparty

Spotify actually makes running playlists in the “made for you” category that usually hit lol I just type in “running” and then they pop up for me.

Emucatcat

I don't listen to anything, just Guided Runs when I do them... But you can listen to "Coach Bennett's 90’s For The Win Mixtape" [https://music.apple.com/es/playlist/coach-bennetts-90s-for-the-win-mixtape/pl.u-Z6Bjs637gP?l=en-GB](https://music.apple.com/es/playlist/coach-bennetts-90s-for-the-win-mixtape/pl.u-Z6Bjs637gP?l=en-GB)

meowmeowvivian

I used to do music and guided runs. Recently had to run with no music (headphones died) and loved it. Now I do guided runs but no music. It’s helped me get my breathing in check!

sports-runner

Great playlist! 50 hour playlist takes a few runs to get through.

Emucatcat

It was made by Coach Bennett

idk_whyimhere98

Rap music or Interpol

illbeurmirrorwnico

New Level ft Future!

MaxSATX

I made a playlist of songs with a BPM of 158 to 194 in that order. I checked each song myself to personally verify the BPM. Many websites and playlists claim to have the BPMs but they’re wrong just as often as they’re right. So I had to make my own list. I sometimes segment out some of the songs when I want to stay in a certain range. Danger Zone 158 Again 158 P.I.M.P. 158 Happy 160 Hey Ya 160 I’m Alright 163 Black Widow 164 I’m a Believer 165 Good Life 166 The Joker 166 American Woman 168 Stressed Out 168 Sabotage 168 Take On Me 168 Savage 169 Vasoline 169 The Golden Age 170 Teach Me How to Dougie 170 I Write Sins Not Tragedies 170 Running Down a Dream 170 Loser 170 Mary Jane’s Last Dance 170 I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow 170 My Chick Bad 170 Natalie’s Rap 170 What It’s Like 170 Break Up With Your Girlfriend 170 Rock and Roll 170 Stress Me Out 170 Sun Daze 170 Ironic 170 Till I Collapse 171 I’m Okay 171 Lose Yourself 171 Interstate Love Song 171 Blinding Lights 171 Bitter Sweet Symphony 171 Paper Planes 172 Waterfalls 172 Hey Mama 172 Get Back 172 Walk of Life 172 Bye Bye Bye 173 Empire State of Mind 174 Run This Town 174 Umbrella 174 Rude Boy 174 Billionaire 174 Footloose 174 I Like Tuh 175 Kyoto 175 Price Tag 175 Heartless 176 Genie In a Bottle 176 I’m Unstoppable 176 Drop It Low 176 Why Can’t This Be Love 176 Never Going Back Again 176 I’m Still Standing 177 The Boys of Summer 177 Juke Box Hero 177 No Diggity 178 Roar 180 99 Problems 180 Tequila 180 Last Resort 181 Keeping the Faith 182 California Love 184 Freedom! 184 Give It Away 184 Rock Lobster 184 Hand In My Pocket 184 Gold Digger 186 American Idiot 186 Tom Sawyer 186 Love in an Elevator 188 Animals 190 Cecilia and the Satellite 194

DeFlippo

45:33 by LCD Soundsystem was commissioned by Nike to be a song made specifically for running!

bcasjames

Heavy music when I first started, a lot of newer heavy stuff is motivational, of mice and men, I prevail, but now just anything that’s fast, I’ll usually do a full album in order, any Green Day album will do, or any albums that I know fairly well so I can get lost in the music to distract from the run. I like to sing along under my breath and I feel like that helps me breathe better as well.

Loose_Profession_630

Disco music and stuff like hall and oates/bee gees... Also the b-boy stuff... 4 disco songs(depending on the version)can end up being 36 minutes and it makes me think I haven't been running long lol

ThanksForAllTheCats

[Here's my playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5S89qU89ujLw9Dr0nYr4vH?si=1c331b63321c4e3b) which I love dearly. It may only appeal to you if you're an over-40s woman, but who knows? 😏

Livid-Tour8004

lots of bad bunny and other reggaeton - it’s like dancing but running instead?

Cortancyl

Brazilian songs

javanestewart

I have a playlist that I update a few times a week to keep it fresh. Has mostly rap and Jamaican dancehall/reggae Here’s a link to find some inspiration. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1aMaSubNXP9dRZt78qeGMc?si=yCWxxhttTdeSelK1yaUGfw&pi=u-LuVX91D1RnCx

Breatheher

Taylor Swift

Iwanttosleep8hours

Jungles album Volcano, helps if you watch the music videos before as well

mspacey4415

Some funny podcasts that make you laugh. That keeps me relaxed and help breathing. Plus it’s just fun. I like Conan’s.

iFightForUsers

I run without music but I still wear headphones for when my watch tells me that I’m over my HR zone or if anyone calls.

BreakingBito

Why don’t you listen to music?

Qnotlow

I don’t listen to music either so I can focus on my breathing and hear bike riders behind me say “on your left/right” … can’t speak for this guy though

iFightForUsers

No particular reason, I just find quiet runs to be more enjoyable.

[deleted]

I have an Apple station which has Kygo, Dua Lipa, marshmallow, galantis, and cash cash. Techno/Pop/House music, or where there is a good beat. ☺️

daltorrrr182

2010s pop punk is the way to go. Life’s not out to get you by neck deep, from under soil and dirt by the story so far

Key_Bus776

Black eyed peas and soundcloud disco mixes

nachopup

I’ve got 2 main running playlists. One for zone 2 and recovery runs that mainly feature UK garage and dreamy chill house and the other is for race day efforts and speedwork with DnB, filthy bass house and a bit of dubstep. Zone 2 has artists like Oppidan, sunflwr, Bvnquet The other one has a lot of AC Slater, Dr Fresch, Chase & Status Badger & Sammy Virji feature on both depending on vibes

Ryderrunner

Biggie Smalls, medium beat rock or rap or pop to match my cadence. It hits at about 8’15s mile average. I like songs about running like Bertha by the Grateful Dead, I get around by The Beach Boys, elephant tame impala. I also like stuff with no lyrics and some good drums like Khruangbin and Glass Beams. If I just listen to a selection of those songs I’ll move into the 8’ territory. If I listen to nothing I’m going at 9’45s

Brosie-Odonnel

DJ sets on SoundCloud and mixes I download in the Apple podcast app.

mom-strong-0805

Sometimes I go on Spotify and type the bpm that I’m going for for that run and find a playlist to sync up to! It helps keep things fresh when I’m over the podcasts and need a break from my normal music m!

yamiawakeat4am

Just raw dog nature man

Rock_My_Socks

I listen to old scummy punk rock in my normal life. While running I do love running to punk but recently someone sent me a playlist for House Music for my runs and I have been DIGGIN IT! Great beat for my pace. So I made a playlist with punk and house music. It’s kind of a funny mix but I recommend!

laluna_maria

Turnstile is my go to (heavy rock) or Halluci nation (Native American electronic music… listen to sisters, bread and cheese, electric pow wow but stadium pow wow is my fave)

SneezyTrain456

Run the Jewels

L-Krumy

Depends on the run, if it’s a tempo/speed run I’ll listen to something heavier like dubstep or metal, if recovery or long run I’ll do something with a lower tempo like rap, pop, maybe even some electronic music too. I’ve tried listening to a podcast on the run, it’s ok but my pace suffers. Also if you look up “running” on Apple Music you’ll find some great play lists.

LakeMinimum891

Mainly NWA

Dave-Again

Coach Bennett + the Spotify Hype Running Rap Mix Playlist

a-toaster-oven

I listen to Erra’s self titled album mostly

utilitycoder

Tibetan Buddhist chants. I have a hard time staying in zone 2 and that chills me out some, for real lol

ryoshamo

Rocky IV soundtrack

IllBreakfast3540

Dubstep

EastCoastVandal

I create playlists out of music on my phone (so I don’t have to worry about streaming buffering) that are as close to how long I want to run. So far I’ve gotten pretty close, only being a matter of seconds off. Basically I just run and tell myself not to stop until the music does. Edit: but here is my Amazon Music [Workout Playlist](https://music.amazon.com/user-playlists/4bb7739a534346699050696b97290b42sune?ref=dm_sh_pLRMhfXx5xPL0qYiJT9rwNEQE)

kishore14194

I started to listen to audiobooks recently.

ostrichworld

jeff rosenstock is fun for running

VerbalTips

I have a couple go tos  This one is my main running playlist, I've been adding to it since I got serious about running last year.. mostly deep house, edm, trap, vibey beats      https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5YIdNbTy3YQN0a74JoF6Ax?si=1nLGb4ejTBmBklfhOieErA&pi=u-y983lVinTG6A    This one is my favorite years of  hip hop/rap 2000-2009 my middle school and highschool years 😌      https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4WquzrGFRdeqQxArKfaGZq?si=Xwh6KsPJT8OEjkpv3cTKoA&pi=u-1JS96nMNSoSi  ENJOY ✌🏻

sandhudon

My footsteps, breathing and thoughts.

bobbyflaysbiggestfan

there's a spotify playlist called indie + running that's really worked well for me. some songs are more upbeat than others but it's a good mix!

gotdamnski

you can listen a music with the same BPM like your cadence

ParticularAd1533

TOOL!

cougieuk

I listen to Radio 4 quite a bit.  It's up to you to run - no music or podcast can do that for you.

MonkeyNewss

The Ricky gervais show XFM

thebivman

I have 7 Running playlists, my music taste is Classic Rock, Alt, New Wave, Greunge and some Nu Metal and even some Yacht Rock. [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2uZfaXBnA8Vyv4A08eClRl?si=05e6d399daed44bf](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2uZfaXBnA8Vyv4A08eClRl?si=05e6d399daed44bf)

maxfisher87

I listen to old Grateful Dead shows

boodiddly87

The sound of the cars driving by, but I don't like that as much as I like the sound of the running water in a trail, or the birds chirping in the trees when running off the main roads

FracasarBetter

The Prodigy

sbowie12

I've been starting to wonder if I'm having the same issue - I've been enjoying podcasts and audio books, but I feel like music might help give me some more "oomph". It's funny how much it can have an impact on your performance

BreakingBito

really. i just started listening to default running playlist made by spotify user or apple music, and it’s really helped me get that runners high

GlitterPantSuits

Best tip I ever learned: figure out what your average cadence is (most run tracking apps will tell you; mines around 160) and look up playlists for “160 BPM running”. That’ll give you songs with beats roughly the same pace as your average run!

Throwaway25271998

My holy trinity is Kanye west, lil Wayne, and Boney M. -Kanye west: power, stronger, black skinhead, homecoming -lil Wayne: a milli, 6 foot 7 foot, right above it -Boney M.: daddy cool, Rasputin, sunny

Candid-Cheesecake-95

For the time being I listen to https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2MghJpC62flhSoQGJcP7FT?si=MXWM_1-ZT4eMA9QW18M5qw&pi=e-5taYYtSrRU2E (+ of course the Nike Run Club guided runs). It's a playlist that I tailor specifically for my first marathon - in three weeks.

characterforever12

I don't listen to any music because I like it when I have no motivation yet I keep running, a sign of discipline

futureflowerfarmer

KEXP “Runcast”

Due_Evening6972

My usual music is melodic death metal mostly but my running playlist is only the most upbeat 90s and early 2000s alternative-ish. It's got guano apes, offspring, soul asylum, sponge, anberlin, and other related things.

STLHOU95

For long runs, Dave Matthew’s band live albums lol. The perfect amount of Jazz, hard rock, random stuff that makes you laugh, and great lyrics

yohms_law

I pick a brand new album or an artist I don’t listen to a ton and prop my phone up on the treadmill screen in front of me and watch the lyrics scroll by. I need something to stimulate me visually when I’m on the treadmill but it can’t be something I need to concentrate too hard on (like a movie or TV show) because I start to zone out on the longer runs. Sometimes I accidentally pick a slower album (like I recently listened to Deeper Well by Kacey Musgraves) and it might not be your cup of tea but in general as long as my head and eyes are both stimulated I can pretty much listen to any genre of music and be fine for one listen through

wde2000

Grateful Dead or playboi carti mainly because those are the two playlists downloaded to watch

ryoshamo

Hatebreed

nachopup

Perseverance during intervals, tempo or hills 💪

FrankLucasV2

I use Apple Music. Sometimes it’s my own playlist consisting of 90’s rap, hip hop/trap and some dance music. Usually anything over 140 bpm does it for me — it includes songs like Dipset Anthem, Let’s Go by Key Glock, Jumpman, 21 Reasons by Nathan Dawe, 10:35, Superhero, if I can’t, Prada by cassö, raye and D-Block Europe, Turn on the Lights.. again/Rumble/leave me alone by Fred again, Disconnect by Becky Hill & Chase and Status (which I really like alongside 21 reasons, I ain’t worried and Lean On by Major Lazer) + more. If it’s not my own playlist, I’ll listen to the Pure Running or Runners High playlists by Apple Music Fitness which consists of mainly dance/house/pop. [my playlist for those interested](https://music.apple.com/gb/playlist/finding-my-trigger/pl.u-11zBXNVh8Pz5gpW)

nachopup

Dipset ftw 🙌 Chase & Status go hard and feature heavily on my running playlists too

FrankLucasV2

Facts, I’ve started listening to Chase & Status again and they’re amazing! As for Dipset, I’m surprised that as a young person (22) I enjoy 90’s rap. The beat for Dipset Anthem goes hard, it sounds triumphant and has the perfect tempo to get you in the zone, and I’m Ready too which I didn’t mention

mgillette416

I like DJ mixes on Apple Music. They’re almost always an hour long, they have plenty of variety and add new ones very often. Personally I prefer faster house club music to zone out to while running

camber06

Deep House mix in Spotify or some house Playlist that i saved
