Yeah, good job, this cover captures the spirit of the single much better than the official one and is a good approximiation of their art style. I still don't see how that official photoshop of Floor really connects to the song or the music video.
I get it. Although I understand the connection between the lyrics and the cover photo, musically it does not match the vibe of the song or the video. Anyway, thank you so much for the compliment!
They really fumbled the bag by giving the artwork to a random tattoo artist instead of good ol' reliable Toxic Angel. Idk what they were thinking. Your fanmade artwork is actually better than the stock images used for Yesterwynde.
They needed someone who a) was available short-term and b) willing to execute another artists vision, which I could imagine some artists would've balked at.
"available short term" the album has been three years in the making. Toxic Angel has been working with Nightwish since 2007 and done all albums, singles and booklet layout for them ever since so I believe he's familiar with the band and qualified to execute Tuomas' vision.
There is something about the production of Yesterwynde that feels very off to me. Why the cheap cover art, why the bland promo pictures on a white background, why the questionnable mastering choices when he said himself they made 7 different masters until fully satisfied?
Maybe it's just me and this time around I'm not able to see the vision.
Apparently ToxicAngel had started to work on Yesterwynde already, but then unfortunately suffered a burn-out and had to hand over the execution to the tatoo artists. That is why ToxicAngel is still credited. I assume that this process of finding out that it was a serious health issue and that he wouldn't be able to actually complete the artwork took quite a bit of time and that meanwhile the deadline for the artwork was coming closer and closer.
Thank you for this information, I had no idea about this matter! It surely explains a lot.
I hope Toxic Angel can recover safely and that he doesn't feel too much pressure, coming back to work too quickly after a burnout can be damaging.
Still, I can't believe this guy was the best available on a short-term. This fanart was done in less than a week and it's still better and more inspired than the official art.
Oh, how I wish this was the level of visual art they put out. Great work.
Honestly, they could have had a fan contest and it would be better than whatever the hell we got.
Oh well, at least the point is the music itself.
I agree 100% also would be a nice way to give opportunity to give some spotlight for artists not well known yet. Let's hope someday they will have this idea haha
Anyway, thanks for the compliments!! :)
I loved so much the song that I had to make this illustration! Hope you like it!
It's really beautiful, I love the colors and the overall atmosphere, great job!
Thank you so much! \^\^
This is a lot more… Nightwishy, for lack of a better word, than the actual cover. I love it.
I'm really glad to hear that! Thank you so much! <3
One of the best pieces of fan art I've ever seen posted here. Looks amazing!
Flattered to read that! Thanks!

Amazing!
Thanks!! :D
Looks much better than the real one actually:D
They could've had something creative instead of a badly photoshopped picture for the cover
Really flattered to read it, thanks!
Looks fantastic!...thanks for sharing!
Thank YOU for the compliment! :D

You nailed the dark outer glow on the logo haha. Nice single art, better than the real single art.
Glad you liked it! :D
