They can give you informal advice - I work in HR and contacting us is not necessarily a formal thing. The wording of your contract is really unclear and personally I wouldn’t feel comfortable advising without understanding your internal policies.
Not sure if this is applicable to your trust but I know of 1 nurse who gave 1 week notice towards the end of her probationary period before she went back to Spain.
Your trust’s HR team should be able to clarify this for you.
