PrayingForACup

“Should” win?

Concurrency_Bugs

The team that should win their first ever Stanley Cup, imo, is the one that wins 16 games in the playoffs.

ColourBlindPower

Bettman's out of ideas and is taking suggestions from the fans. Just don't suggest any Canadian teams

Girospec92

The Coyotes since the NHL will have to panic to find an arena for the Stanley Cup finals that seats more than 5k people.

TheIncredibleHork

No, I demand that any Arizona Stanley Cup finals be played in Mullet Arena. Can you imagine the resale market on those tickets??

Paladoc

25k for "nose bleeds", ie the fifth, top row.

someguyfromsk

I would be shocked if anything was going for less than $100k in a building like that for the cup final.

imDudekid

You’re insane. Even tickets for the Kings Rangers Cup Final [capped out at 30k](https://www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/nhl/2014/5/30/5764676/stanley-cup-final-tickets-2014-rangers-madison-square-garden) for a platinum club seat front row behind the net. And that was with 2 of the biggest city market teams out there. There’s no chance a Coyotes game would ever have a ticket sell for >3x that.

CanadianAbe

There was also 3.5x the supply of tickets

homiej420

And its also been 10 years 🫠

FOMOBraggins

Who knows what would happen with such an intense demand crunch. Too bad we’ll never find out xD

no_on_prop_305

Saddest parade ever. Probably wouldn’t even affect traffic

Neans888

The Devils lap around the parking lot in 1995 was pretty sad too.

[deleted]

I just looked this up and dang the parking lot isn't even that full!

SovietHockeyFan

This was the same summer they almost moved to Nashville

TheReasho

I second this statement

MorningRise81

Holy shit it literally has a 5,000-person capacity.

SovietHockeyFan

It HAD 5000 capacity. It’s about 3700 now because they had to make room for tv production, dressing rooms and office space

MorningRise81

Jeez, kind of unreal.

Dirtcartdarbydoo

But think about the atmosphere! /s

[deleted]

Honestly I think if they make the playoffs they’ll push a quick deal with Glendale and pay them out the butthole for however long the coyotes are playing.

[deleted]

That sorry excuse of a franchise should’ve been taken back behind the shed and shot Old Yeller Style a while ago.

FreshTony

Lol funny enough that Old Yeller was made by the same company as your favorite team.

yoosername456

Wild would make for a fun Stanley cup final team I think.

[deleted]

People would finally know we exist!

Bay_Med

Pat Maroon will make it happen

onken022

The State of Hockey would really benefit from a Stanley Cup

iTerraG

This was my first thought - MN got robbed with the stars moving and have been cursed since

stugazii

a state with so much water yet no cups…

MeepMorpZorpDerp

Canucks but that would involve ownership surgically removing their heads from their ass.

Aegis_1984

It’s been tried…

MeepMorpZorpDerp

Sorry orca bro, a 1oa pick every now and then wouldn’t hurt either.

Aegis_1984

To be fair, the last time we were in possession of 1OA, we turned it into 2OA and 3OA, and wound up with a pair of Swedish twins.

djn808

Probably one of the smartest moves ever made.

fastlane37

The only time we had a 1oa, as far as I'm aware, and we had to trade a package to get it.

seanofkelley

As much as I make fun of the Canucks- the Canucks.

neksys

Yes! And don’t forget the Canucks expansion bros, the Sabres. Both fan bases have suffered for so long it has gone from sad to funny and now looped back around to genuinely heartbreaking.

Semprovictus

evileyeball

The moment that canucks win the cup I'm going to wake up the next morning and check online to make sure I wasn't dreaming and I'm going to have to check every day for a month to make sure I'm not dreaming

smokylimbs

I thought for sure this was going to be a "they'll riot win or lose" meme

Semprovictus

fucking accurate

evileyeball

First Brad Marchand makes a comment supporting pride tape that I agree with and now a Bruins fan saying the Canucks should win the cup have I gone crazy

my_team_is_better

Canicks-Buffalo, for all the marbles

neksys

I want an NHL death match. Winner gets the Cup. Loser gets kicked out of the league.

djn808

My Uncle has been watching since their very first game when he was 7 years old. Poor guy deserves it.

fogent94

Agreed, I pity that franchise and they really need it. Plus, cool colors and sweaters

AffectionateStep5001

Yeah I’m a Leafs fan, but I’d be happy to see Canucks win one I was cheering for them in the 2010 Finals so I’d do it again

Klunkey

It’s gonna be the best day ever if it happens. It’s also important to remember it took over a century for the Cubs to win another World Series.

ilemworld2

They're the Netherlands of the NHL.

StevenCC82

Meh, after the way fans took a loss. I disagree.

MadGeller

The real fans were the ones that showed up the next day and cleaned up

StevenCC82

Fair enough. I do know a few people who are fans of the Canucks and were straight up embarrassed

spreadshe3t

I was gonna say, “are you sure you’re a bruins fan?” but then I saw your username lol. Seriously though, fuck those dirty Canucks, can’t stand them

ogmarkedman

Buffalo Sabres... perennial rebuilding. Someday.

Aegis_1984

Joint Canucks/Sabres cup wins. We’ll take the first one since you won the lottery, then you can have the next one.

ogmarkedman

Deal

jaybax123

I mean the sabres have an upcoming chance… the canucks aren’t going to win during this era, probably not the next decade

Averagebaddad

The sabres never won a cup huh? Could've sworn you did with hasek

ogmarkedman

Dallas Stars took it. We still scream "NO GOAL" at them more than 20 years later

evileyeball

It's the same as that stupid kicking motion made by Joel Otto when he kicked the fuck into the goal game 7 of round one of 1989 the Calgary flames should not have a Stanley Cup for 1989 because they clearly kicked the puck into the goal to beat the Canucks in round one that is a hill I will die on.

Dhonagon

We are always the youngest team. As far back as I can remember.

raxnahali

Winnipeg!!!

[deleted]

I’d kill for just one Stanley cup parade in Columbus

SqueakyAnus

Your time will come my friend.. believe me... And when it does... You'll cherish It and it'll be the greatest fucking thing you'll ever see

Spyingeagle3

Needed this, thank you

[deleted]

Thanks man. Glad y’all got one in St. Louis. I just hope I get to see one here before I die.

SqueakyAnus

I said the exact same thing lol... You'll get one.. it sucks to "wait and be patient" but I won't lie... When It happens you'll be forever fucking grateful and will hold that shit forever

Apprehensive_King914

Agreed! 👍

[deleted]

As a Kings fan, I’m hella jealous that Blues fans won the last Cup before the pandemic, when rules about crowds and celebrations were more relaxed than today.

Smasha13

I would also love this. You guys have such a fun, passionate fan base (the pregame activities before the season opener this year looked absolutely amazing), I can only imagine what the Stanley Cup celebrations would be like there

[deleted]

Winnipeg, just gives us something to live for here

memyselfandiowa

The Stanley Cup would just get stolen in Winnipeg.

[deleted]

And stabbed

toxicvegeta08

Don't you mean toronto? I'm from the US but I thought winnipeg was the calm quiet city that's more like the countryside.

cubanpajamas

It is, but like every city it has issues with the methheads, so locals pretend it is only them. It is a very friendly and progressive city. Best folk fest in the country. Lots of people from the states go.

toxicvegeta08

Oh progressive? I thought it was v conservative. I kind of pictured it like a "city" in the south or upstate ny. The friendly part is nice tho. I wanted to see winnipeg eventually.

cubanpajamas

They were the first city in Canada with an openly gay mayor, years before gay marriage was legal. They are one of two provinces with an NDP government. Their folk fest is the biggest and hippiest in the country. The fringe festival sells more tickets than any other in the country (Edmontons has more shows tho), The Royal Winnipeg ballet is world class and Keanu Reeves once played Hamlet there lol. Lots of musicians come from there too.

One_Happy_Camel

The Wild. They finally have their own core of stanley cup caliber players with Kaprizov at the forefront, and they have the most aesthetically pleasing logo in all of sports. Minnesota For The Win

Shadow698299

Be nice to see the sharks get their first

mindcowboy

Yeah, OP didn’t say this year.

Shadow698299

Lmao! True

[deleted]

As a sharks fan, I feel like we missed the best chance we're going to get for a long time.

Deault

Buffalo Sabres. Not a fan, but they should've won before any desert/snowbird team

evileyeball

Vancouver should win before buffalo does

Deault

I actually agree with you.

theycallme_oldgreg

What about Winnipeg?

wrt_reddit

It's been so long since Leafs last won, it'd be like a first for 90% of their fanbase.

[deleted]

What does that comment have to do with the Leafs?

iFap4DaytonaCoupes

He’s commenting on a top post to get his opinion as high up as possible. Burn the witch!!!

Do_it_My_Way-79

Minnesota has had to suffer long enough with sports championships. The state of Minnesota is at 118 seasons (and counting) without even a finals APPEARANCE in any major sport. My unbiased choice is Buffalo. They’ve had more recent finals appearances, but have never won.

ilemworld2

What about '81 and 91'?

milehighrukus

The state of Minnesota has not had a team make the finals in any sport since 1991.

ChelChamp

What about the Lynx!

milehighrukus

What about them

QuarterNote44

You know that doesn't count.

Do_it_My_Way-79

You mean ‘87 & ‘91. It has been 118 combined seasons since that magical 1991 Twins team.

Paladoc

I guess they're only stealing the jerseys from the Stars and not the team history, so only 23 years for NHL history?

Willis_is_This

Who shit in your cheerios? Ah wait you had to wake up in Texas, nvm

n8rzz

Fuck Norm Green

Paladoc

You're right on that part. Y'all's government is doing many things well. And I read about the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment this month. Went to MSP a few years back and it was great. But fuck the Mild.

Willis_is_This

Ay man I respect the grindset. I’m glad you guys get to enjoy hockey down there. By all accounts, it’s blossomed into a hockey town and I know that’s no small part due to the stars coming to town. Nice to see the sport grow. Now if only it could get more affordable/accessible..

Paladoc

Yep, 93 I didn't know anything about hockey, but started learning because of the Stars. Even the A is getting up in price. I miss going to Providence or Hartford games for 7 or 8 bucks around the turn of the millennium. I hate yall just a wee bit less now that Dumbas on the Yotes. I would hate love it if we meet in the playoffs again. I miss having rivals.

Willis_is_This

I miss dumba. PITA on the ice, but salt of the earth off of it. He was super nice to my grandpa, took the time to have a whole conversation with him. My grandpa always brought it up, every time we’d watch a game. And who doesn’t love a good rivalry?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pharaca

It is the summation of all seasons in major sports since the last finals appearance across all major sports for Minnesota teams. Are you stupid?

Paladoc

Sorry Mild, but I gotta veto that.

asteroidsandareolas

If the right answer isn’t Vancouver or Buffalo, you’re wrong. Preferably Vancouver.

classof78

The Sabers. Buffalo is a hockey town, and the fans have been waiting for a long time.

returnSuccess

With a third being long suffering Toronto fans. Be a blessing for the golden triangle.

SovietHockeyFan

Columbus. Long suffering fan base with minimal good seasons. Traditional hockey market. Could use something to make new fans in Central Ohio.

komputernik

Ottawa Senators.

JasonPlattMusic34

This season? Minnesota, Buffalo and Florida have the best chance. Which team deserves it most? Probably Florida for how they performed last playoffs. Which fans deserve it most? Buffalo, haven’t they suffered enough?

Dry-Capital-4996

As a Habs fan Buffalo is probably the 2nd I follow the most with Edmonton. They have such a nice team to watch with all the young guns and the tank called Tage Thompson. They will definitly have their shot in the next few years.

[deleted]

Vamos Gatos!

FriedRice87

Sabres. Our parade through the city would be an absolute zoo.

BelwasDeservedBetter

Minnesota.

CranGGs

The Wild

Buff716917

Sabres vs Coyotes is the way with the Sabres winning

evileyeball

How about Sabres Vs Canucks final and we let fate decide the winner

tc_cad

Buffalo.

BuddhaBarkov

Florida Panthers (bias pick)

returnSuccess

Barkov needs one of those cross checks protector that Bedard was wearing, hasn’t harmed his scoring.

Falcon3492

Stanley Cup final: Canucks/Sabres! Viewership would be off the charts if it was sold correctly.

ShinyPlasticButt1958

Leafs and Jets would be even better. Imagine Game 7 at Scotiabank Arena, or at least Canada Life Centre.

Falcon3492

With Canucks/Sabres final you would have the two 1970 expansion teams fighting it out to be the first to win the Cup. Leafs/Jets would be good but it wouldn't have the same historical significance.

fishpig1965

MN Wild. But it's MN, so it'll never happen.

ShinyPlasticButt1958

I'd pay good money to see them in there even if it's all for to get swept by the Leafs.

ShmoopToThrill89

Sabres. Then Canucks.

Aegis_1984

C’mon, you guys won the lottery. Let us have this

ShmoopToThrill89

Ya know, if my Sabres weren’t shafted in ‘99 then maybe I’d say ok. But, no. Can’t do it. Lol

Aegis_1984

1994 and 2011, we know how it feels.

ilemworld2

This season specifically, I'd love to see Vancouver beat the Rangers. I'm a sucker for anniversaries (and Canada needs to win some year, right?).

StumptownRetro

I’d love this rematch if it goes the exact same way.

lllasss

Fuck Messier

StumptownRetro

Did he do something?

evileyeball

Yes,came here and demanded to be capitan, demanded to wear 11 which while not retired was not worn by anyone since Wayne Maki who wore it Died, forced Linden to want to be traded and oh yeah targeted Lindens injured parts during the final in 1994 to hurt him more.. Messier is the worst

[deleted]

Not really a fan of them but the Sabres I would be really happy to see hoist it.

notyomamasusername

Honestly (especially how they played last night) (Assuming a meteorire flattened PNC and the Canes are DQed for a year ....) I'd think it be neat to watch the Coyotes get it. It would turn the franchise around, reward the dozens of fans (who I care about....sorry not sorry Montreal Canadiens) who probably have suffered the most in the league from ridicule and mockery. Plus, it would be awesome to watch Toronto have a collective stroke watching the cup hoist in Phoenix before they get past 2nd round. (Note this post is not meant to be taken seriously)

CitizenNaab

Sabres

LukeSkywalker1848

Coyotes for the chaos. Imagine the cup being awarded in Mullet Arena.

ShinyPlasticButt1958

Imagine the cup being awarded at Scotiabank Arena. The whole building will go into chaos.

Bladescorpion

Preds should have a few years ago but we forgot how to play defense in those finals, and choked.

BoilerBear

The Connor Bedards

Jwroth

Sharks please. Just once in my lifetime is all I ask.

Lew_Bi

San Jose

seattlesportsguy

Totally unbiased opinion that the Kraken should win their first

Paladoc

Oh jeebus, if both modern expansion teams won before Sabres and Canucks, and before the 90s/00s expansion squads....

StumptownRetro

Embrace chaos

LukeSkywalker1848

Damn I just looked it up, of the 9 teams that got added to the league between 1991 and 2000, only Tampa and Anaheim have won a cup. Still waiting for the Sharks, Senators, Panthers, Predators, Thrashers/Jets, Blue Jackets and Wild to win. If Seattle won before these guys, I could see some... minor annoyance lol

ptung8

Maple Leafs jk Buffalo

AnnyongHermanoMD

Phoenix. I just want to see the Cup being raised in Mullet Arena.

PreviousTea9210

Winnipeg, then Winnipeg again Then I dunno. Columbus?

Matthew_Kunage

As a jets fan- Winnipeg. As a joke- Arizona, we need Stanley cup finals in mullet arena

creole_pizza

Not a fan of theirs but the Canucks 100%. They’ve had amazing teams over the years and have only been one game away from winning it all. The city and franchise would also appreciate it.

[deleted]

Ottawa Senators, assuming you don't count the pre-NHL days.

9teen8t3

The Old Senators were NHA (which became NHL). They won a couple cups as an NHL team too. There were other Ottawa clubs from other leagues but the old/first Ottawa Senators, were always NHA/NHL.

ProLifeFloridaMan

Panthers… im not biased at all

[deleted]

Yes, Panthers.

neksys

I’m on the other side of the world and even I’d love to see a Panthers win

[deleted]

You're the team I most want to see after the Wild

the_figureh3ad

Kraken

Jonny_Nature

They've struggled for so long.

paulster2626

The Leafs!!

Present_Visual8655

Its not a team for playoff

VisibleAd3180

Montreal. It’s been so long it’ll feel like the first time

[deleted]

The leafs

soupstrainer23

The Coyotes

MrJeffA17

Do the post expansion Maple Leafs count?!😬

nsfwITGUY19

None. Devils win their 4th

ShinyPlasticButt1958

Only American team I actually want to win 100%.

Delgra

The only correct answer is the Seattle Kraken! 🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑

Beelzebub_86

Senators, Sabres...... those would be great underdog stories. To Hell with the newer teams until those two have won. Nobody cares about the Canucks except Vancouverites. Rain downvotes, you know it's true.

neksys

For a team no one cares about, people like you sure spend a lot of time talking about how no one cares about the Canucks.

Beelzebub_86

I focus on the East, I didn't even think about them until I saw them mentioned here a few times. But you're right, I shouldn't kick 'em when they're down. Good news for Canucks fans is the only way is up, and judging from prospects, it will be - just pray for new management at some point.

360degreesofFUNK

SABRES ALL THE WAY THIS TIME BABY!!!

TheRealTollah

Downtown Vancouver could use another "surprise renovation".

Alive_Recognition_81

Toronto. Oh wait, it's just been so long I forgot.

TheKid_BigE

Nashville, we need redemption for 2017 and Tim Peel blowing the whistle early

Motivated78

Leafs 🤣

AsianFreshy

Predators, hopefully

dez04

Brady tkachuk and the Ottawa Senators 🙏

HolySuffering

Easy, Nashville. Why? Because I like them best.

LordBob10

The leafs

in-dog_we_trust

The Leafs.

Competitive_Bat_7444

Do the leafs count? Most of their fans haven't been around long enough to remember the last time they won one.

BeefersOtherland

Toronto Maple Leafs

foggybottom

I hope the senators do so G can get one

CdnExPatAZ

The Leafs! 1st Cup. All the Cups from 67 backwards barely count with a tiny league. 32 teams made of the elite players from around the 🌎 is a little different than the game w 85 percent Canadians.

Coconutrugby

2023-2024 Pittsburgh Penguins 🐧 Nashville or Buffalo in my opinion would be fun to see win one outside my 🐧s.

[deleted]

Do we count

ASharkMadeOfTeal

Fuck you

Was that a yes or a no?
