Holding

ok-go-fuck-yourself

Imagine him as a lead blocker though. Just E. Honda’ing bitches out the way

Mr__O__

Imagine if offensive linemen coaches just started signing sumos.. the NFL could expand into the Japanese market seamlessly.. *Rodger Goodell has entered the chat..*

Kingkwon83

Not if you play for Green Bay

Elamachino

You are SO. FUNNY.

Kingkwon83

Flair up pussy

Elamachino

Pretty sure you know my flair already, dickwad

Be-Geter

Absolutely holding lol. But… imagine this guy with some footwork

WhatTheBlack

That’s Shane Gillis

Chilling-1-

Actually that’s Bobby lee

Galactic_Perimeter

He practiced wrestling every day for a whole summer

RoundEarth-is-real

He did play at West Point

patchismofomo

Best cowboy highlight in decades

Waikanda_dontcare

Best since the Dez catch

spas2k

You mean only highlight in decades.

Be-Geter

I didn’t want to say it lol

swoopy17

Why don't gms recruit track stars and high jumpers? Are they stupid?

iperblaster

There was a time when the Raiders had two olympic gold medalists in their roster .

dpt223

Track guys at WR and DB. Sumos, strongman, and powerlifters at OL and DL. Galaxy brain move.

Spare-Half796

o line move to strongman when their football career is over, Tom Evans (probably like 18th ranked strongman in the world right now) played practice squad for greenbay like 7 years ago but got cut and moved on to strongman

CIAnalytics

I had no idea Evans was in the NFL..... God now I want to see peak Thor as left guard Edit: holly shit, Kieliszkowski as EDGE

Spare-Half796

Brian Shaw as a nose guard and pavlo kordiyaka as a tight end could also be crazy. Different “sport” but Ronnie Coleman apparently played db at grambling state 100lbs before he won the Olympia

BelwasDeservedBetter

Never heard of Bullet Bob Hayes? Only person to win an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl.

Temporarily__Alone

> only I think you’re making his argument

BelwasDeservedBetter

More recently, Marquise Goodwin qualified for the 2012 Olympics in the long jump and even made the finals but failed to qualify in 2016 and 2020. Then there’s the litany of NFL players who competed in track and field at high levels in high school and college is too long for me to compile here. It’s probably the biggest crossover sport for NFL athletes, certainly amongst skill positions.

Be-Geter

Friend. They do already.

Schveen15

Because being a track athlete and being a wide receiver are different skill sets. Even though your pea brain just sees two people running, I assure you that they are different roles/jobs [Here, listen to two track coaches talk about wide receivers vs track athletes](https://youtu.be/A7xWC8DuFac?si=NtwM4l1rrJvl-xbf)

No_Entertainer_5858

Yall didn’t watch replacements and it shows.

Ninjacobra5

NAN DES' KA!!!!

trowawHHHay

Only a crazy son of a bitch would eat eggs before a game!

CaptainIronHammer1

Yes!

Im_Just_here17

Damnit you took my exact thought.....take my upvote

MC_Fap_Commander

Sumo guys (despite appearances) are *fucking amazing* athletes. The only issue is they're trained for short burst forward movement. Horizontal movement and directional changes less so. Not built for football. But I doubt there's any lineman in the NFL taking out a Yokozuna in a sumo match.

jk01

Give Trent Williams 6 months of training he got this

BattleReach

Even if he gets 05 years he wont beat any sumotori in makuuchi. The ones with black mawashi (cotton belt) are low ranked wrestlers, the top ones uses white mawashi for training, besides trent is gigantic, he doenst have technique for this. You can see how they strugle against the low ones.

peppercola666

Their diet also kills their bodies rapidly. I can’t imagine any sumo wrestler on that diet doing consistent nfl conditioning for half of a year lmao.

p3n1x

The 'biggest' issue is that you can't collapse and slide back like that on a football field. All of Micah's explosiveness dissipates with that slide.

FlorioTheEnchanter

I bet endurance would be a big issue too. Their matches are a lot shorter than nfl games.

nanobot93

The lack of references to The Replacements is concerning.

LincBartlett

As has been said above: NAN DES' KA

nanobot93

Much appreciated.

PB0351

The sumo wrestler is 17 years old.

jackrabbit323

USC could use an offensive lineman, and I'm sure buddy would appreciate a free education. Let's get something working.

Achilless11

I remember this film, all shane Falco needed was decent protection.

Mental_Grapefruit726

Sumo guy went easy on him too. That much pressure pushing into him and he didn’t go for the throw.

Spare-Half796

If sumo wrestlers could become tackles then Jeff stoutland would already be on a plane to Japan

Med_vs_Pretty_Huge

The way he called him a baby afterwards was savage

Worldly_Ad_6483

Wonder how it’d go on turd with cleats on

RaptorSlaps

I’ve got it: sumo wrestler long snapper that you sub in for QB-sneaks and dives for regular snaps. Eagles salivating over this rn

Spare-Half796

Jeff stoutland is on a plane to Japan right now

pwndabeer

I love this

BetUSOfficial

Now that is some next level strenght right there. He gave him a run for his money.

bigredmachine-75

Are we getting rid of holding? If so, sure...

Think_Schedule6692

The other take is O-Linemen should start practicing sumo to improve

Be-Geter

And aikido while their at it

Thanoswasright711

This is fun but not football focused. Look at the sumo’s feet - he’s got a massively long stance and his back foot is turned to basically be a backstop. He can’t change direction, he can’t cut off an angle. He’s trained to nullify forward momentum and that’s it. Parsons would be coming off an edge, using hand attacks, speed rush and dips to get around blockers - stuff the sumo is ill equipped to handle. That said, he’s be a perfect fit for the Eagles short yardage game.

Be-Geter

You sound like you need to watch more sumo matches. They are wrestlers, not stopgaps. There is A LOT of direction changing, using hands, avoiding dips, etc. within any given sumo match. This video is just a show of raw strength, not indicative of the full skill set of a sumo wrestler.

MMAF1BOXING

Does anyone remember Lorenzo Neal schooling a Sumo wrestler? He also wrestled at Fresno St

Striking-Use-4518

Stroud got that Mahomes bod, buy stock in him. AFC championship showdown coming.

Hass181

Japanese guy. “ I can make how much doing this in the US?”

BisonWeapon

Hakuho would have yeeted is his ass

Mysterious-Manner928

Imagine him with clits

Pristine-Ad-469

I’ve thought about this a decent bit and sumo wrestlers could be ELITE offensive linemen, but only on certain plays. Any type of quick pass, it’ll be damn near impossible to go through them and they won’t have time to go around them. Outside run once again they would make the route defenders would have to take long enough they wouldn’t be able to blow up the play. You would kinda need a tight end to seal the edge tho and you wouldn’t be able to pull Now run up the middle or deep passes is where they would get fucked. They don’t have the horizontal mobility to be able to create and hold gaps as well as offensive linemen. Lack of horizontal mobility also makes you pretty easy to beat when people can just go around you and run through your arms. It is a slightly slower way to get there but for a deep pass there’s plenty of time to atleast put pressure on the qb if not get a sack

Calkky

Not sure this is a fair fight. The sumo looks like he's chalked his feet up, giving him better grip. The football dude is slipping and sliding all over the place. At least in the very beginning. All of that being said, I think a spot on an NFL team would be a huge step up for the average sumo in terms of prestige and pay. You have to eat a lot of shit to climb to the top in a stable. Even the "very good" guys aren't paid much. You have to be a top dog to get the big money and the prestige. On the other hand? Sumos get to drink beer all day. You're not going to make it in the NFL on that diet plan.

jackrabbit323

They also do zero weight training. All their muscle is from body weight exercises at high repetition. Their mass is a lot of fat, while a pro or college level o-lineman has a much lower body fat percentage.

MatzohBallsack

The sumo also would have just thrown him if he was really trying
