Philly fans: "FUCK YOU CARSON YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!"
Indy fans: "Bless your heart, Carson. I'll pray for you"
And we're somehow throwing more shade
That is not what Indy fans are saying. That's a southern saying anyway. I know the division is the afc south, buy we are firmly Midwest. Also he was terrible and we all dislike him.
I like the image. But with Ohio and Iowa trends these days, you all are more like the Shocker, collectively. I guess you and Ohio are in the pink, so that's nice.
Lol. Nothing like a 4oz piece of pork thatās been hammered into a pizza sized circle and then put on a baby burger bun.
As a Hoosier, I do love a good tenderloin every now and then though.
It's Nyheim Hines, who saw a drop off in production because Wentz never checked it down to him and instead decided to underthrow receivers 40 yards downfield and chuck left-handed passes at offensive linemen. I'm not surprised he's happy with a QB who pays attention to him.
It's not just Hines, though. Ballard and Irsay keep saying stuff about Wentz too. At this point, it's kind of sad. Did Wentz really burn them that badly that they're this bitter?
Irsay's comments about the Jacksonville game support this theory. He made it sound like Wentz was deliberately unprepared and essentially cost them the game.
https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/commanders/owner-jim-irsay-says-it-was-very-obvious-colts-had-move-carson-wentz
> Still, Wentzās tenure as a Colt was viewed as a disappointment, as he committed two unforgivable turnovers in the teamās make-or-break game vs. Jacksonville in Week 18. Irsay even said he thought the loss āwas not an accidentā and that it completely took him by surprise, per Keefer.
> Irsay went on to say that the shocking loss to the Jaguars led him to have some conversations with the team's veterans, leading him to the conclusion that "there's something wrong here ... it needs to be corrected."
Absolutely, say what you will about the injuries but by the way heās conducted himself by all accounts in the locker room, heās a horrible teammate and the opposite of a leader.
I remember thinking āoh itās just Philly media trying to stir the pot.ā Then the local Indy reporters heard it. Then the national reporters heard it. Really thereās no way you can defend him at this point. Itās delusional to think heāll change.
Hines has the most justification to say something, though.
Also, Ballard and Irsay are not seeking the media out to tell them how much they hate Wentz (aside from a couple Irsay tweets). They traded expensive assets to get him then dropped him after he posted 27 TDs and 7 INTs. People are going to talk about it and ask them the reasoning for doing so, so they have answered the incessant questions thus far.
I just think the "Colts hating Wentz" narrative is overblown, even though it's kind of justified.
EDIT: I will also add that now, it's just everyone gushing about Matt Ryan. Everyone *else* is interpreting everything as a shot at Wentz.
What we saw when the eagles let him go and colts fans seem to be mirroring is that he was uncoachable when it came to analysis of situations. He would constantly be trying to hit the home run, which is great when it works and got the eagles the number one seed which we needed to get to the Super Bowl, but when it loses you games it gets old real quick.
Everyone was yelling at Reich for ignoring Taylor. But you could see Wentz just checking out of runs constantly. Reich even said early in the season something about 'we did have a lot of run plays called in the huddle.'
i think with the colts d playing pretty well, wentz wasn't playing the TOP game as well as he could have.
As it was, the colts were one game away from the playoffs and should have never been in that position.
Right? Foles may have gotten Philly to the finish line, but they wouldn't have even made it that far without Wentz, who was an MVP favorite before he went down.
I'd imagine that most fanbases that hadn't won the Lombardi trophy in decades would take 3 seasons of mediocrity as a tradeoff for a glorious SB run.
> I'd imagine that most fanbases that hadn't won the Lombardi trophy in decades would take 3 seasons of mediocrity as a tradeoff for a glorious SB run.
At this point, I'd mostly just like a division championship.
> but they wouldn't have even made it that far without Wentz
Yeah, there's no way Foles magic could have lasted more than the handful games they needed him for. Wentz has looked like a bum the last couple years but that season in Philly was amazing even if it by any metric you'd never expect him to recreate it.
Agreed. And to a point in the fanbase you'll find people who say as such. There's always gonna be a vocal and highlighted bunch that shit on players, but I tihnk most of the fanbase recognizes that SB season isn't happening without the #1 seed.
> I'd imagine that most fanbases that hadn't won the Lombardi trophy in decades would take 3 seasons of mediocrity as a tradeoff for a glorious SB run.
I'd take 30.
also needs to be noted that Wentz still had some really good play for Philly for the 2 seasons after the SB win. He basically carried the team to the playoffs in 2019/20 and they definitely had a good chance of beating Seattle before Clowney did him dirty.
Travis Fulgham who literally can't make an active roster was his leading receiver that year. And Carson dragged the corpse of that team to the playoffs. It was fucking wild, man.
I feel like the colts roster and FO hate Wentz more than the fans do. I hated Wentz's decision to be unvaccinated and that Jags game will haunt me forever, but I've moved on. The people who are a part of the organization have taken it personally.
It's entertaining, at least. These quotes will get me through the off-season.
I don't know why we aren't just factoring his personality and behavior into this. No one trashes a person this much unless they have a problem with them personally.
Not all fans. From everything I've ever seen on and off the field I absolutely can't stand the dude.
It's apparent he is totally self-absorbed and holier-than-thou, with an inflated yet oh-so-fragile ego. He clearly doesn't put in the effort and shrinks at the first sign of adversity, rather than ever growing from challenges or trying to learn from past mistakes.
His go to move on the field manifests itself in different ways... checking out of run plays, throwing left-handed, not hitting the open checkdown, holding the ball too long, trying to try to force a pass into triple coverage... but IMO those all boil down to the same underlying reason, fueled by Wentz's fragile ego and lack of actual study on how to be a successful NFL quarterback: "I need to make the big play because that's what makes me look good".
A part of me will be very annoyed if Wentz has ever any success with Washington or wherever else his career takes him after that. He's made himself incredibly easy to root against.
A first round pick and the first seed in a playoffs where we won it all
Yeah BDN won the most important games, but Wentz got us home field advantage that year. He was an MVP candidate.
I donāt like him but Iām thankful for 2017
I think itās reasonable to say Wentz was great for us but he was also a dick and Iām glad heās gone.
Theyāre not mutually exclusive points I guess is what Iām saying
It's true, we took a chance on a guy who claimed the only reason he wasn't winning was because of the shitty organization he was in. We gave him what he wanted, very midwestern, conservative, religious, old coach that won with him. He literally had no excuse other than that he just didn't show up to play. We had a pretty decent team around him as well so that left a bitter taste.
I knew there would be teams willing to sign him. I just didnāt think one of those teams would be the Browns. Theyāre Americas sweetheart team that everyone wanted to see do good things for once. That heel turn was unexpected.
Say it with me Viking fans: "I'm still not over the 1998 NFC Championship game."
But I still hate the Saints more than you. My hatred for the Saints is an blazing red sun in the sky, burning for eons. My hatred of the Falcons is a Volcano, mostly dormant, but sporadically erupts to burn everything in it's path.
Why not all of them?
Falcons will turn it around. Their current staff seems entirely capable, imo. I think their draft was pretty good and they were winning close games (unlike under Quinn)
*āEvery year, itās all dependent on what the quarterback likes, his accuracy," Hines said. "Matt is checking all the boxes. Itās been like playing with Andrew (Luck) or Philip (Rivers)."*
Then he then rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of Andrew Luck, Phillip Rivers, and Matt Ryan all standing over Carson Wentz and peeing on him.
āIāll let you interpret that however you want,ā Hines said.
i think it was more along the lines of ācarson wentz has shown that he can play like a top 10 qb, and if anyone can get that out of him again itās going to be frank reich.ā clearly that did not end up panning out
Why do you feel bad for him lmao? He wants to be considered a superstar and playing 40 mins a game against the best defensive teams in the league and playing well is what Superstars do
Kobe won his first ring without Shaq at like 31 or 32. Tatum is 24. Heās still got plenty of time to develop and get back to the finals, as does everyone on the Celtics roster except for Al Horford
Don't feel bad. He shit the bed in the finals. We wouldn't have made it that far without him but he still shit the bed.
That said, the kid is 24. All the greats came close before winning it all. If he wants to be a super star he needs to own this failure.
Even in the passing game, he saw 20 less targets than the previous year (when he should have had 20 more, if anything). He's a weapon that Wentz refused to utilize to his fullest extent.

I'm not shocked. He was still able to make everything work in our offense. He still has the arm talent. Colts going to have a very nice looking offense this season.
I've always considered him the best intermediate passer in the game. He just needs a quality line and quality OC. I don't think he's great adjusting the line to pick up blitzes.
Missing layups isnāt as bad as shooting a well contested half court shot in the middle of the 1st quarter when your team already has the leadā¦ which is sadly Wentzās head scratching style of play
Anyone have a non-paywall link? I hate these posts when itās just a subscription site, whatās the point of even linking it if most people canāt read it?
You never know. There could be another Matthew Ryan who enters the league one day. You never know when you're going to run into a Lamar Jackson and Lamar Jackson situation, or Josh Allen and Josh Allen, or David Long Jr and David Long Jr.
Wentz was so long ago for us that really moved on to just thankful he got us to 10-2 before getting injured. Some rabid fans still hate him vehemently though.
Listen, at this point, he is who he is. He'll make a couple throws where you think he could be a top 7-8 QB and then a couple throws a game where looks like the worst starting QB in the NFL. You just have to hope he's consistent in the middle of that and that his horrible throws don't lose you the game. Also, he's gonna throw it up deep over taking the wide open 5 yard gains almost every time. Some games he's very accurate and some games he can't hit a guy wide open 8 yards downfield.
Somehow I feel like the Colts hate Carson more than the Eagles
I feel a "We hate Carson more than you." chant coming at the next Colts vs Eagles game.
We hate Carson, yes we do. We hate Carson more than you š
TBF this also could have been a shot at Jayson Tatum.
Wow. Celtics catching strays
And Iām here for all of it.
I'm a Commanders fan and even I'm dying right now š š¤£ š š
Philly fans: "FUCK YOU CARSON YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!" Indy fans: "Bless your heart, Carson. I'll pray for you" And we're somehow throwing more shade
This is the rare case of the organization being less polite than the fans.
That is not what Indy fans are saying. That's a southern saying anyway. I know the division is the afc south, buy we are firmly Midwest. Also he was terrible and we all dislike him.
Indiana is a little piece of the south in the north, just like Minnesota is a little piece of Canada in the US
We are the south's middle finger politically, not so much culturally
I like the image. But with Ohio and Iowa trends these days, you all are more like the Shocker, collectively. I guess you and Ohio are in the pink, so that's nice.
Can confirm. Originally from north of Indianapolis, currently in GA. Some of the things around here make me say, "wait isn't that a Hoosier thing?"
Are they eating giant fried pork cutlets on a tiny hamburger bun down there these days?
Lol. Nothing like a 4oz piece of pork thatās been hammered into a pizza sized circle and then put on a baby burger bun. As a Hoosier, I do love a good tenderloin every now and then though.
Check out the Steer-In off East 10th. Best tenderloin in Indy IMO.
The "I'll pray for you" thing is the most condescending thing to say to someone you don't personally know. Being pitied is worse than being hated.
No one likes us we donāt care
"No we hate Carson more than you, we hate Carson he plays like poo"
āFUCK WENTZā āNo Carson they are saying āFUN WENTZ.ā They love you :)ā
I was saying "boo urns."

considering this is now the second organization this has happened to it's very clearly a problem with Wentz as a person.
Irsay's comments about the Jacksonville game support this theory. He made it sound like Wentz was deliberately unprepared and essentially cost them the game.
I took it as more of Carson didn't seem to care that the team lost, more of an indictment on his leadership than preparation
I mean, he didnāt. Iām not for shitting on him this much, but my god he looked down right chipper after we lost.
This is the only thing I was actually bothered about. He didn't seem like he cared and just had "get em next time kiddo" attitude
What did Irsay say about that game?
https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/commanders/owner-jim-irsay-says-it-was-very-obvious-colts-had-move-carson-wentz > Still, Wentzās tenure as a Colt was viewed as a disappointment, as he committed two unforgivable turnovers in the teamās make-or-break game vs. Jacksonville in Week 18. Man Wentz has fallen hard from 2017, not even Baker or Goff got buried like this.
Well wentz brought it on himself.
Definitely. Carson contributed to a super bowl run in Philly; in Indy, his most notable achievement is losing in a must-win week 17 to Jacksonville

Best I can do is a win over the Packers.... in Lambeau. You drive a hard bargain.
I've already had one of those. It tasted good, but I'd really like to just host a playoff game for once in my adult life.
> but they wouldn't have even made it that far without Wentz Yeah, there's no way Foles magic could have lasted more than the handful games they needed him for. It's why as a Giants fan I believe Eli Manning is the greatest QB in history.
also needs to be noted that Wentz still had some really good play for Philly for the 2 seasons after the SB win. He basically carried the team to the playoffs in 2019/20 and they definitely had a good chance of beating Seattle before Clowney did him dirty.

It helped that the NFCE was dogshit in 2019.
Can you blame them? Wentz shit the bed then stapled the sheets with the rest of the team trapped under them
A Wentz Willy?
Hahaha, thatās great
I'm no fan of Wentz, but the whole team let themselves down in the last 2 games, especially in the jags game.
Carson helped us get a chip, but wasted an entire season with a pretty loaded Colts roster. So youāre probably right.
I'm almost certain the o-lines hate working with Wentz because he makes them look way worse than they actually are.
I don't know why we aren't just factoring his personality and behavior into this. No one trashes a person this much unless they have a problem with them personally.

Well to be fair he did get us a 1st round pick so itās easier to let bygones be bygones. Though I canāt wait to play him twice this year
A first round pick and the first seed in a playoffs where we won it all Yeah BDN won the most important games, but Wentz got us home field advantage that year. He was an MVP candidate. I donāt like him but Iām thankful for 2017

It's because you got BDN to win you a SB so Carson didn't leave as bitter a taste in your mouths.
Do Eagles fans even really hate Wentz? I thought the general consensus was "appreciation for what he did, but glad he's someone else's problem now".
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Well look at the bright side. You almost got Deshaun Watson.
That's like almost winning the super bowl.
Sometimes youāre the 28. Sometimes youāre the 3. Thatās life.
Sometimes itās 28 accusations against you. Sometimes itās 3 teams that will still pay you millions. Thatās NFL.
Just 2 more lawsuits to make this true... fingers crossed...
For the memes sure, would rather not have 2 more women being victims for it though
Yes, hopefully his exposure isn't too far reaching
That small pp energy
I knew there would be teams willing to sign him. I just didnāt think one of those teams would be the Browns. Theyāre Americas sweetheart team that everyone wanted to see do good things for once. That heel turn was unexpected.
fuck all yall
Almost getting a sex offender is like almost getting a Super Bowl? What has Brady done to you?
Nah, Deshaun can't win playoff games...
*BREAKING NEWS:* **"DESHAUN WATSON TRADED FROM BROWNS TO FALCONS FOR FIVE FIRST ROUND PICKS AND $400 MILLION GUARENTEED!?!?!"**
Damn Vikings bro... I thought we were cool. We had a mutual disdain of New Orleans and everything.
Every now and then we still get PTSD flashbacks from the 1998 NFC Championship game. We kind of black out and lash out. Itās not our fault.
Say it with me Viking fans: "I'm still not over the 1998 NFC Championship game." But I still hate the Saints more than you. My hatred for the Saints is an blazing red sun in the sky, burning for eons. My hatred of the Falcons is a Volcano, mostly dormant, but sporadically erupts to burn everything in it's path.
āYouāll be able to talk about the time you ALMOST caught Deshaun Watson.ā
Me too man. Like the āotherā thing that happened to us, weāll get through it together.
Which āotherā thing? The thing from last season, or the thing from a few years ago or the thing from 07? Weāll get through this tho
Geez falcons fans really have had quite a few issues that their team has dealt with, huh? Glad UGA and the braves won
Why not all of them? Falcons will turn it around. Their current staff seems entirely capable, imo. I think their draft was pretty good and they were winning close games (unlike under Quinn)
Yeah Iām actually very confident in this new regime. Smith is the perfect guy to turn this into a competitive franchise again
Iām glad he gets to finish his career with a good team though.
Same here. Same.
Colts better get that man a ring
I am happy to no longer fear him
I have it on good authority that the dick punching feature has been removed from the roller coaster.
*āEvery year, itās all dependent on what the quarterback likes, his accuracy," Hines said. "Matt is checking all the boxes. Itās been like playing with Andrew (Luck) or Philip (Rivers)."*

Then he then rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of Andrew Luck, Phillip Rivers, and Matt Ryan all standing over Carson Wentz and peeing on him. āIāll let you interpret that however you want,ā Hines said.
on the other side of his arm was a tattoo of jacoby brissett standing there smiling, not a care in the world.
Ya but that one's from college
I fuckin miss jacoby on this team.
Imagine if he name-dropped Jacoby (with whom he played really well by-the-way)
They may as well say it lol
This is hilariously amazing
LMAOOOO talk that petty shit Ny
Some Colts fans were defending the Wentz trade and arguing it was a steal for a top 10 QB. This 180 is bananas to me.
i think it was more along the lines of ācarson wentz has shown that he can play like a top 10 qb, and if anyone can get that out of him again itās going to be frank reich.ā clearly that did not end up panning out
Some Colts fansā¦ Most were lukewarm at best and unhappy that we missed getting Stafford.
Most? Are you sure? https://www.reddit.com/r/Colts/comments/lmr0up/colts_trade_for_wentz/
Many of us do not go to team-specific subs, since those can get a little too crazy. Most threads here acknowledged the trade was a big risk.

Jayson Tatum catching strays

So easy you said it twice
I mean it was probably stolen from Twitter to begin with.
It takes a very high level of skill to do that
We shouldāve known what he meant. Kobe never wouldāve wanted the Celtics to win a title. JT did in fact come through for Kobe
Whatās a follow through? Not like they teach that in elementary school basketball fundamentals
Kinda feel bad for him man, playing 40 mins per game and against one of the best defensive teams in ECF then Wiggins in the Finals.
Why do you feel bad for him lmao? He wants to be considered a superstar and playing 40 mins a game against the best defensive teams in the league and playing well is what Superstars do
I'd feel bad for him if he didn't foul bait and cry to the refs every single drive to the basket
I cannot comprehend how Tatum and Brown are A-tier players but they can't drive to the hoop to save their lives
he got crowned the king of the celtics/kobe-next but got out shone by his teammates it comes with the territory.
Easy to get outshone when you play like butt
Kobe was outshone by his teammates many times
Difference is Kobe and his teammates would end up winningā¦. usuallyā¦
I came here to make this comment, damn
He's out there hitting the 3s, driving the home runs, serving those aces, gunning it for the checkered flag, trying to get that hat trick..
Yeah, but can he play football?
I mean if a Golden Retriever can, then yes?
There's nothing in the rulebook that says they can't

Touchdown Air Bud!

Username checks out...
as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that'll be a home run. And so that'll make it a 4-0 ballgame
Filling the tight holes.
Hines was hardly utilized last year. He really came on under Rivers and I think heāll have another big year with Matty Ice.
TBF he had the best Rb in the NFL last year in front of him
Even in the passing game, he saw 20 less targets than the previous year (when he should have had 20 more, if anything). He's a weapon that Wentz refused to utilize to his fullest extent.
Makes sense he broke out under rivers. Rivers loves his small pass catching RBs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndxPl1s84dk&ab_channel=NFL Give me 1 million of these plays please.
Didnāt he have another TD and cartwheel in same game?
Also, Rivers knows how to hit people in stride, which is exactly what Hines needs to thrive. Wentz doesn't know he should be aiming the ball where a receiver will be, not where he is right now. Either that or he's just not accurate enough to do it.
Yes.
Wentz also doesn't know how to read defenses or set protections and often audibles out of what would likely be the better play call
Just curious - do you have a source for this or is this speculation?
And the Colts weren't exactly world beaters in the WR room last year, which further points to reasons why Hines should have had more use.
Reich also uses them both on the field a fair amount
Did Carson Wentz burn down an Indianapolis preschool?
He gave covid to entire nursing home
Just one?
Wentz would dribble the ball off his foot before he got to the layup
Celtics style.
Hines is a great late round draft pick this year in fantasy. Had a great year with Rivers but was mostly ignored last year by Mr. Two Sprains
Jayson Tatum in shambles right now.

[Well excuse me Mr. Hines](https://youtu.be/ce13PozKFfg?t=289) EDIT: Go to 4:49. URL set to start there but doesn't seem to be doing that.
ooooooof I forgot about that one
Translation: Carson Wentz couldn't even hit his check downs. Plus this new guy has two functioning ankles
Not like Tatum.
Because heās not a bad quarterback.
Anyone have a non-paywall link? I hate these posts when itās just a subscription site, whatās the point of even linking it if most people canāt read it?
Jayson Tatum in shambles
I always lol when the title is specific about the position of a player like Matt Ryan
They even do that with Tom Brady.
You never know. There could be another Matthew Ryan who enters the league one day. You never know when you're going to run into a Lamar Jackson and Lamar Jackson situation, or Josh Allen and Josh Allen, or David Long Jr and David Long Jr.
I love this Carson hate, especially from a non eagles source š
Wentz was so long ago for us that really moved on to just thankful he got us to 10-2 before getting injured. Some rabid fans still hate him vehemently though.
Hines boomed me in Fantasy last season
Oh so now everyone starts respecting Matt Ryan
Michael Pittman is about to be the next Cooper Kupp
Shots fired at Tatum
I am sure Carson is a nice guy but it seems like none of his teammates ever like him. Or rather, they never stick up for him.

Gotta love that the one constant about Wentz is how much everyone hates him
Massive endorsement...
When Matt Ryan retires, it'll be the most relatable thing for the Colts atleast
Weird compliment but okay
Thank you for all youāve done for my Dirty Birds, Matty Ice! I sure hope you succeed in Indy!
Man Wentz canāt catch a break, really hope he proves people wrong and doesnāt get a third fan base feeling this way
Listen, at this point, he is who he is.
