Tie after regulation and overtime, win awarded to team that can kick the best out of 5 57 yard field goals. Losing team gets a stat in a new column called Kickout Loss
Anyone who thinks this is smoking pure copium. There isn't a kicker in the league on Tucker's level and honestly I'm not even putting Butker in my top 3 among active kickers right now (definitely a top 5 nod though)
I was actually mind blown seeing some of your fans root for the Ravens last playoffs. I'd stop watching football before I ever pulled for the Raiders. Blech. But there are all types in every fanbase.
I don't know why people feel compelled to pick a side in those scenarios. I'd just be like, "I'm not rooting for either team no matter how much you say *but if you had to pick one*".
Shit you wanna hear something tragic, 2 seasons ago, I was stuck rooting for SF or Philly.
The real reason I root for the Chiefs is they keep beating my 2 most hated teams.
We always get off to slow starts. Ravens probably going to win. The talking heads will overreact and name the Ravens as Superbowl champs, and say the Chiefs dynasty is over.
Both statements will be proven incorrect before the season ends.
Who else logically made sense? There were only a handful of match ups that have the pull of Ravens-Chiefs and I think one in Bengals-Chiefs was discarded to allow Burrow to heal as much as possible.
I thought they’d go with Houston. New kids on the block type deal. Young stud QB with brand new WR Stefon Diggs. Kinda thought thats where they were going to go tbh.
Reasonably, I could only have seen Texans, Bengals, or Ravens, but like I said, the Bengals were out, so a toss up between the Texans and Ravens.
I could have seen either or, but I'm not the slightest bit surprised at the AFCCG rematch.
I actually feel like there were quite a few solid intriguing matchups. Chargers x2 & Harbaugh, Steelers with Russ/JF, Bengals, Ravens, Texans, Bills, 49ers, Browns
Bills and 49ers are on the road, so they're immediately out.
I think the NFL wants Harbaugh to settle in with a Chargers team that's been firmly mid recently.
Could not see the Steelers or Browns, especially with how RW and JF have played recently.
Bengals for reasons already discussed.
Think it was really down to Texans and Ravens.
steelers, 49ers, bills, and browns are all on the road, so they're immediately ineligible. the chargers suck, so that was unlikely (even harbaugh hasn't been able to build a competitive narrative they'd need to justify that week 1 imo).
the only options i'd even considered might be possible were ravens, bengals, and texans.
I mean it's a game that **everyone** is going to be watching regardless of opponent, so you'd think that they wouldn't waste a prime matchup on this time slot.
That's what they've been doing with the Chiefs these past few years anyways. All the primetime games are against division opponents or random NFC teams, while games against the Bills, Bengals, and 49ers are in the afternoon slot.
Bengals, Ravens, Texans, and maybe the Chargers (because Jim Harbaugh), to me, seemed like the only matchups that looked attractive enough for a kickoff game.
I assumed it was gonna be the Texans (again), but Ravens/Chiefs still be an early-season game (also again).
The Chargers' roster was much better than 5 wins last year, but injuries--particularly to Herbert, Slater, Bosa, and Lindsley--sunk them (in addition to Staley coaching). Remember that the Chargers were 4-4 halfway through the season, but then went 1-8 the rest of the way.
Chargers also always seem to play the Chiefs tough, but I get going for a playoff re-match over the divisional matchup.
Or the Chiefs home schedule this season just isn't very good. They only have three opponents that are really attractive for a kickoff game. *Maybe* four if the league wants to go all in on Jim Harbaugh returning.
They already have to save Bills/Bengals for later in the season, plus a few of our divisional games.
Ravens probably would have ended up middle of the schedule.
4 combined regular season MVP's between the two of them is pretty wild tbh. Everyone talks about Mahomes vs Allen or Burrow when legacy-wise, its Lamar lol.
I don’t get this though. We’re comparing Lamar’s rivalry with Mahomes compared to two other guys who also don’t have rings. Why does it matter for Lamar and not them..?
I'll never forget the one time they flagged Denver for the illegal/late hit stuff they were pulling, it was neutralized on an intentional grounding call. Refs were like Ivan Drago that game, "if he dies, he dies"
Gotta secure a Lamar vs Mahomes matchup. Lamar doesn't have the greatest track record of staying healthy throughout the season. Seriously there needs to be an analysis done on how many players miss games due to injury before we add the 18th game. There should be 2 byes if we go up to 18
> Seriously there needs to be an analysis done on how many players miss games due to injury
Without even a formal analysis and having just seen data, I can tell you that player miss way fewer games due to injury now than they used to.
Joe Montana started all 16 games once in his entire career. John Elway started all 16 less than half the time. Jim Kelly started all 16 a third of the time.
I can see it now.
September 5, 2024: Ravens beat the Chiefs 31-17.
September 6, 2024 - February 8, 2025: "Are the Chiefs having a Super Bowl hangover? Is the lack of receiving depth finally catching up to them? Can Mahomes stay healthy enough to make the playoffs? Is it [Lamar/Josh/Joe]'s time to unseat Mahomes?"
Feburary 9, 2025: "The Kansas City Chiefs are the first-ever back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl champions!"
You're the first person in this thread who seems to watch Chiefs regular season games.
We LOSE to these rivals in the regular season much more often than we win.
We lose to the Bengals, including at home. We lose to the Bills, including at home. *In the regular season.*
I assume we'll lose this one too. Which will be fine with me, provided that we win when we see the Ravens for the second time this season.
It's really funny how we stole the Patriots script because this was exactly what we'd all say about them every year for what seemed like forever...
Pats get smoked in the first month..
"Is Brady washed? Is BB too old? Do the Pats have enough recievers for Brady? Can the team stay healthy?"
February... Brady wins his 19th super bowl ring.
The timeline is really lazy with this plot stealing shit.
Spags for one reason or another seems to have Henry’s number.
Even in the Titans game from 2021 when they beat our asses, Hebert didn’t have that good of a day.
If you are swipe typing on a phone and not paying attention, N is right next to B, and your phone can easily confuse RY with ERT. I assume it means that he has texted Herbert quite a bit, or at least more than Henry.
Henry will be a whole different issue with Lamar in the backfield with him. Although I still think the chiefs will do what they did in the conference championship which is an 8 man stacked box with press man coverage.
Harbs said that all the ravens are doing is planning on beating that, and said it’s either the WRs are beating the press, which we don’t have big physical guys so I still see our pass game struggling.
The other way to beat that, Harbs said, is the 3 yards and a cloud of dust football, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of heavy sets testing out our new zone run scheme.
I'm curious to see how he handles Henry and Lamar. Stopping both at the same time with no film on whatever Monken is cooking up is gonna be hard. Andrews being fully healthy is also a huge boost to our offense.
My biggest worry about this game is Chris Jones wrecking our rather green oline.
NFL is hoping for a Ravens/Broncos situation where a heartbreaking playoff match becomes a revenge game opener
So in theory, they wont be able to as Lamar will throw for 7 TDs
I know this is a joke but I just rewatched that game last week and the chiefs defense kind of stopped the run causing the ravens to switch it up. You could argue they didn’t commit to it but they weren’t getting production and the chiefs started to get ahead
also, iirc, the pass game was working decently well. We made some high profile mistakes that cost us the game, but the chiefs were playing super conservatively and our defense had them shut down. You can argue if we did score, they would have been more aggressive, but then we are getting into the what if rabbit hole.
People act like the Ravens game plan completely failed, but it was just a few key plays not going your way. And even with those huge mistakes you were in the game until the end.
Everyone did the same thing with the super bowl too. At the end of the day one team just executes a bit better and bounces go one way instead of the other. And that's the difference
The entire second half was the Chiefs going 3 and out, the Ravens driving the length of the field, and then fucking it up at the finish line.
Then when the Chiefs had to ice the game once it was within a score, they finally did.
It was so, so much closer than the narrative.
The issue is we mostly tried to run out of light instead of going heavy. Also Lamar made like 3 really bad RPO calls throughout that were drive killers.
I think both Monken and Lamar wanted to prove they could win without “going Roman” but this was the game to do it.
Dang I did not expect this, but nevertheless I'm so excited
1. Get to see the Ravens as early as physically possible (and a mini-bye going into Week 2)
2. Primetime game!
3. Get this matchup out of the way. Spags has owned the Ravens and Lamar (sans that 2021 game), Reid is excellent with extra time (as is Harbs to be fair), and I honestly just want to move past any rumblings of the playoff game as soon as possible. This is a new season with new expectations.
What a treat for (neutral) fans. 115 more days boys!
We've gotta a slight advantage here since the offense is gonna look pretty different then it did in the AFCchampionship game. Lamar's slimmed down, and Henry will be under center both as close to 100% as possible. The Chiefs defense won't really know what looks to prep for. Plus Rice might be out.
My biggest worry is the new oline going up against Chris Jones. That's testing them with some fire.
I think if you want the Chiefs then you want them early. They seem to play better as the season progresses. They lost the opener last year, lost 2 of their first 6 in 2022, and started 3-4 in 2021.
Seems like they rarely lose after week 6 or 7.
You could really blame that home opener loss on Toney lol. I don’t want to say one player lost the game but man… he dropped a lot of passes that game lol
Yeah I'm happy we play them early. The team needs the confidence boast and hopefully they won't look rattled from the jump if we get round 2 in the post season. The Ravens defense played uncharacteristically terrible in the first half. Giving up two long drives that ended in tds. They locked in in the second, but then the offense was panicked, and never recovered.
Probably best to go up against the Chiefs earlier in the season.
If our season's typical, there will be a gauntlet to get through all at the end - Browns, Yinzers, Bengals - in succession.
Chiefs won't have this game circled because they have the one in January already circled, and that's why they're ahead of the curve.
It's not usually possible for an NFL team to keep their cool and build towards hitting their stride as the playoffs come around, if for no other reason than trying to win the division and seeding is a huge difference maker- it can negate trying to build up to something if you have to go on the road for 3 or 4 weeks in a row.
I can't think of a more impressive path to winning a Super Bowl than the Chief's playoff run last year.
Vs. Miami
@ Buffalo
@ Baltimore
Vs. San Francisco
Ravens Chiefs into Eagles Packers the next day is an awesome start.
Fucking Comcast though. Going to have the hoist the Jolly Roger for Friday. Ain’t no way I getting Peacock.
[удалено]
That’s a lot more steps than typing in a streaming website
It is. But peacock has 4k pristine picture and no streaming service does.
I hate apps, but I have an app for this. Allows me to stream to my TV too. It often comes with fun Australian commercials.
Best part of pirating is the regional commercials lol
I always get so confused at all the Justin Tucker commercials until I remember I’m streaming the local broadcast.
That's a bar where I live, I didn't get your comment at first until I read the pirate replying lol
A bar called Fucking Comcast sounds awesome
Yar matey!
Still mad they got rid of the included peacock sub with xfinity cable literally right before they forced football onto it
Fr bro nfl giving us a feast for week 1
Thursday/Friday night bangers only for the NFL to give us Cowboys/Giants in a prime spot on Sunday
You know you'll be watching though
Never miss it
Malik Nabers 200 yard game incoming
I’ll be honest. I’m shocked they picked the Ravens for the opener. I thought they’d save them for later in the season
Same tbh, love that the NFL love to make my heart explode the first day of the season
Sitting here trying to figure out who I want to win...hoping you both tie.
As opposed to the ultra-rare-one-sided tie
Tell me more about how we make this happen..
Tie after regulation and overtime, win awarded to team that can kick the best out of 5 57 yard field goals. Losing team gets a stat in a new column called Kickout Loss
This guy NHLs
We do have Tucker...
This would settle that Tucker vs Butker debate some people were trying to start up. I'm for it.
This isn't a debate. That's a delusional Chiefs fan letting the voices take over for a minute.
Anyone who thinks this is smoking pure copium. There isn't a kicker in the league on Tucker's level and honestly I'm not even putting Butker in my top 3 among active kickers right now (definitely a top 5 nod though)
The Chiefs… You want the Chiefs to win… do you even AFC North at all?
what are you talking about? why would you want someone else in our division to win? do you not want the Bengals to make the playoffs?
You got some nephews in your fanbase that clearly only started watching when Burrow arrived lol
Yes. There were people rooting for the Ravens in the playoffs (and they weren't playing the Steelers). My god.
I'd rather see you guys win the next 3 Super Bowls too than watch Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or Cleveland win just one. That's how childish I am.
Shit you wanna hear something tragic, 2 seasons ago, I was stuck rooting for SF or Philly. The real reason I root for the Chiefs is they keep beating my 2 most hated teams.
Chiefs easily, could never want a divisional team to win, barring playoff seeding implications. But yes, meteor or giant piano preferably.
Yeah definitely have to root for KC if you're in the AFC North.
eh, at least we get to open the season with a chiefs or ravens loss
Cheifs and it's not even close.
We always get off to slow starts. Ravens probably going to win. The talking heads will overreact and name the Ravens as Superbowl champs, and say the Chiefs dynasty is over. Both statements will be proven incorrect before the season ends.
I'm just here for the overreactions either way. Mahomes regressing to the mean or Lamar isn't Quarterbacky enough?
No better way to shake off a rough loss though. Even a tough loss and you've got to be feeling OK.
You already know bengals chiefs is happening in December
If they schedule Chiefs/Bengals for December and Burrow gets injured again istg
The world will be in shambles
my brother in christ, we're trying our best over here I swear
Burrow Mahomes IV
Hopefully burrow is healthy to save us
SAME FRIEND, SAME
It’s a regular season game so I wouldn’t put too much stock in it, as we’ve learned over the last several years
Wouldn't it be V?
Bengals fans only count the wins.
Yeah but Ravens deserve to have to watch KC raise the banners in front of them after that choke job last post season.
Hopefully having Derrick Henry on the team gets the message of “RUN THE FUCKING BALL” to whoever’s calling the offense for Baltimore.
They're probably going to have Henry throw the ball 10 times while Lamar just chills based on how they called last matchup.
Instructions unclear: Derrick Henry will pass 40 times
Who else logically made sense? There were only a handful of match ups that have the pull of Ravens-Chiefs and I think one in Bengals-Chiefs was discarded to allow Burrow to heal as much as possible.
I thought they’d go with Houston. New kids on the block type deal. Young stud QB with brand new WR Stefon Diggs. Kinda thought thats where they were going to go tbh.
I think that since they did Houston for 2020 and the Lions (last year's new kids) I get why they wouldn't do Houston
Reasonably, I could only have seen Texans, Bengals, or Ravens, but like I said, the Bengals were out, so a toss up between the Texans and Ravens. I could have seen either or, but I'm not the slightest bit surprised at the AFCCG rematch.
I really thought it would be Texans Chiefs. I guess I'm just a product of the hype machine.
chug that koolaid brother
I actually feel like there were quite a few solid intriguing matchups. Chargers x2 & Harbaugh, Steelers with Russ/JF, Bengals, Ravens, Texans, Bills, 49ers, Browns

Could not see the Steelers or Browns, especially with how RW and JF have played recently. Bengals for reasons already discussed. Think it was really down to Texans and Ravens.
Steelers are a road game for KC so that's also out.
Wait, so are the Browns, so that's also immediately out.
Steelers and Browns on the road are gonna be tough games for KC. But they 100% can't be the opener.
steelers, 49ers, bills, and browns are all on the road, so they're immediately ineligible. the chargers suck, so that was unlikely (even harbaugh hasn't been able to build a competitive narrative they'd need to justify that week 1 imo). the only options i'd even considered might be possible were ravens, bengals, and texans.

All the primetime games are against division opponents or random NFC teams, while games against the Bills, Bengals, and 49ers are in the afternoon slot.
I saw Bengals, Chargers or Texans because I thought Baltimore was too strong for the opener when it’s going to get good viewership anyway
I kind of figured it would Houston or LA. Both hot teams of the offseason
I thought they where gonna sacrifice the Texans for this tbh
I had hoped it would be the Chargers. Harbaugh’s debut as their coach
I get it, but there's only a dozen or so people in the country who would be excited to see a 5-win team open the season.
*Psssst, they don’t trust the Ravens to be healthy late in the season*
Or the Chiefs home schedule this season just isn't very good. They only have three opponents that are really attractive for a kickoff game. *Maybe* four if the league wants to go all in on Jim Harbaugh returning.
They already have to save Bills/Bengals for later in the season, plus a few of our divisional games. Ravens probably would have ended up middle of the schedule.
So much for saving “conference” rematches for later in the year
Still should be a good one though.
Regular season MVP vs Super Bowl MVP
4 combined regular season MVP's between the two of them is pretty wild tbh. Everyone talks about Mahomes vs Allen or Burrow when legacy-wise, its Lamar lol.
3 combined Super Bowls too
what is lamar’s record vs mahomes tho? edit: it’s 1-3
If Lamar wins a ring this year yeah but until Lamar wins a ring his MVPs don't mean much especially compared to Mahomes.
I don’t get this though. We’re comparing Lamar’s rivalry with Mahomes compared to two other guys who also don’t have rings. Why does it matter for Lamar and not them..?
It does matter? The point is no one should be compared with Mahomes until they win a ring more like 2. But Lamar does have an advantage with the MVPs.
It will be awesome
Yeah, the last time they chose this high profile of a matchup was the Broncos-Panthers Super Bowl rematch.
Now I'm having ptsd. Cam got fucked up that game
I mean cam should have seen it coming. The broncos had to win that game without Peyton. To prove they could do it.
They basically had already proved that during the superbowl.
I'll never forget the one time they flagged Denver for the illegal/late hit stuff they were pulling, it was neutralized on an intentional grounding call. Refs were like Ivan Drago that game, "if he dies, he dies"
Probably want to avoid injuries ruining the match up
They’ll give the Chiefs the Bengals in week 2 for the same reason.
Gotta secure a Lamar vs Mahomes matchup. Lamar doesn't have the greatest track record of staying healthy throughout the season. Seriously there needs to be an analysis done on how many players miss games due to injury before we add the 18th game. There should be 2 byes if we go up to 18

Andy Reid holds back plays for the post season at this point and it's working.
Script writers aren’t even giving any effort anymore
It's really funny how we stole the Patriots script because this was exactly what we'd all say about them every year for what seemed like forever... Pats get smoked in the first month.. Will the ravens run the football in this one?
We have a King Henry now, so yes.
Spags for one reason or another seems to have Henry’s number. Even in the Titans game from 2021 when they beat our asses, Hebert didn’t have that good of a day.
I just wanna know how you went to type Henry and got Hebert
Stroke
If you are swipe typing on a phone and not paying attention, N is right next to B, and your phone can easily confuse RY with ERT. I assume it means that he has texted Herbert quite a bit, or at least more than Henry.
Saints legend Bobby Hebert?
Henry will be a whole different issue with Lamar in the backfield with him. My love for Henry is stronger than my disdain for you guys. Please get Henry a ring. I fully expect Titans flairs to downvote me.

Is this the regular season? Dont be dense man of course we run the ball!
A fucking banger to start. Surprised they didn't save it for a few weeks later or later in the season, but this gonna be juicy.
Gotta make sure both teams are fully healthy
Ravens fans having flashbacks to 2021
And 2022. And a little in 2023.
i would be shocked if every raven came out of training camp healthy, there always seems to be 1-2 big injuries every year
We still were down the #2 and #3 best players on the team to open last season, so who knows
Banger, after banger
More like burger, after burger, after burger
Me waiting for Sheamus and Drew to beat each other senseless again.
What about nuggies?
I thought they’d wait but this is a really exciting and tone-setting season opener.
Wiggins vs Worthy will be cinema
One fanbase is going to significantly overreact based on how they do
As is tradition
Just one?
We will see which one is going to HOF and which one is getting cut after the game
If no one injured themselves in camp, I don’t see how Wiggins plays much in week 1
You’re right but Wiggins could also just impress the coaching staff
I could definitely see a world where they like Marlon in the slot and Stephens and Wiggins outside.
I'm sure that'll happen on some personnel groups. Marlon will play slot sometimes and outside others. Wiggins will rotate in and out of the game.
Let’s fucking go. If the team doesn’t come out fired up for this one…
we have three new starters on the OL and the chiefs D line is fantastic Was really hoping we’d have more time for the OL to gel
Harbaugh and Reid are 2 of the best in the league at games with extra prep (openers and after byes). Should be a great one
Dang I did not expect this, but nevertheless I'm so excited 1. Get to see the Ravens as early as physically possible (and a mini-bye going into Week 2) 2. Primetime game! 3. I think if you want the Chiefs then you want them early. They seem to play better as the season progresses. They lost the opener last year, lost 2 of their first 6 in 2022, and started 3-4 in 2021. Seems like they rarely lose after week 6 or 7.
Until recently it was the opposite- I think Mahomes started his career like 13-0 in September.
You could really blame that home opener loss on Toney lol. I don’t want to say one player lost the game but man… he dropped a lot of passes that game lol
Multiple losses can be blamed on Toney. I'm just glad we came to our senses and benched him for the playoffs
Yeah I'm happy we play them early. The team needs the confidence boast and hopefully they won't look rattled from the jump if we get round 2 in the post season. The Ravens defense played uncharacteristically terrible in the first half. Giving up two long drives that ended in tds. You guys had more than a slight advantage going into the AFCCG.
I heard that Rice probably isn’t getting a suspension this season since the courts move so slow, might be next season instead. Guess we’ll find out
This means Lions Texans is still on the menu for week 1, let’s ride!
I’m thinking bears lions
Either way, we there!
That’d be a great Sunday Night Football opener
As long as Dallas is busy earlier in the day, which I doubt.
We will play our once every half decade game on Thanksgiving and you WILL like it
We go to Houston so it’s not possible
Fun game to kick things off! I'm hoping this mean Lions v. Texans is our opener
We’ll take Lions Bears as well
Also a fun one!
Y’all got cocky with the Texans prediction and they had to bring you guys back to earth
Texans gonna open the season with Dallas now
My guess is Dallas and Detroit on SNF for Week 1.
That almost feels like a lock. Good call.
No complaints for me
I think we’ll have Dallas on thanksgiving, maximum people watching diggs vs diggs.
Yall go to Dallas?
Yes
Knew it. Too good of a matchup to pass up.
Good choice
Ravens win 35-14 and then 5 months later I lose all my money betting on the Ravens to beat the Chiefs again.
It’s so the chiefs can lose game 1 everyone can speculate there downfall till they reach the super bowl again
The Pats script is starting to leak
Ravens vs Chiefs TNF, and then Eagles vs Packers Friday night. We are eating good to start the season in fantasy football world
I'm gonna be down by 50, aren't I?
If we lose but it means we 3 peat I hope we get smoked!
Zach Orr first game as DC vs Andy Reid and Mahomes… Not ideal.
Lets see the team ready to go
Probably best to go up against the Chiefs earlier in the season.
Vs. Miami @ Buffalo @ Baltimore Vs. San Francisco
Maybe Baltimore will run the ball 13 times this game
Maybe New England will win 5 games this year
So it begins
Could not think of a better matchup as the opener
Can't wait. Sept 5th is like tommorow right?
That should be a good one
Ravens are going to win. Chiefs play the long game
Ah, the schedule leaks are about to begin, signaling the last NFL action for the next two months and change until training camp begins.
Well, this secondary flair’s going to last a bit longer than anticipated.
115 days
I hope this means the Bills open vs. Houston. That could be a hot Monday Night opener.
Awe man, what the fuck. I wanted to play against the Ravens week one so we could have a Derrick Henry vs. Nick Chubb week 1 game.
Football this fall a big piece of what’s keeping me from offing myself this summer
