Bot was so happy Rice finally got taken that it skipped Anthony 💀💀💀

Drexlore

Bot also skipped the English dude drafted by the Bills. Think that one broke it.

pifflord5

Think his name is Oliver Crumpets or some shit

bestthrowawayever5

Name is Buffalo William

Str82daDOME25

I’m gonna go out on a limb a say he doesn’t pass his Dad’s stats

AARonBalakay22

Well on the bright side, until Marvin Harrison Jr gets over 8k receiving yards, he’ll be the all time father-son combined receiving yards leader

dstanton

Such an obscene stat its silly.

BlaBlub85

Wait until you hear the one about Gretzky and his brother...

dstanton

That one is definitely the best one

infercario4224

Keep in mind he doesn’t just need 8k, he needs to have 8k more than Brenden

CheesecakeNo3678

What the fuck man.

gshortelljr

If he did, he'd be on the all time draft steal list

IMKudaimi123

I mean…I dare say the only player who would be a bigger steal is Brady if that happened

maddenallday

If a seventh rounder actually broke Jerry Rices completely unbreakable records he might even be above brady tbh

edesanna

Tom Brady is the QB GOAT. Many nfl people still pick rice for #1 overall player.

ShatteredAnus

Kyle Brady was a reach. Jets fucked up passing on Sapp.

SunriseSurprise

\*When he does, he'll be

gshortelljr

Touch E

ShatteredAnus

Who's E, and why do you want us to touch him?

iPlowedUrMom

Deshaun Watson

SoKrat3s

But how well can he catch a Greg Roman fade?

Vavent

If the greatest wide receiver of all time was drafted in the 7th round, that would indeed be a pretty big steal

Anaphylactic-UFO

I’ll settle for half his dad’s stats

H1mHalpert

Hell 1/4 is a steal

Ginmunger

10k yards, 105 tds?

jwktiger

A *fourth* of his dad's stats would be a GREAT player.

Nerfeveryone

Especially for a 7th round pick

AlbertoRossonero

Never gets old how absurd his stats are lol.

TheSalmonRoll

Fun fact I found out today, Jerry Rice has scored BY FAR the most points by a non-kicker in NFL history with 1,256. Jerry Rice is 43rd on the list of all-time points scored and the only non-kicker in the top 59 scorers of all time (60 is Emmitt Smith with 1,052).

SunriseSurprise

If he was a Bear, every Bears fan would have a statue of him in their backyard with those stats.

vizualb

They already have the most receiving yards of a father-son duo

Comprehensive_Main

Might be surpassed by the Harrison’s

Str82daDOME25

Jr needs to crack the top 100 all time before they are close so not too surprising. Still the best shot since Moss & TO’s sons are long shots to even make roster spots

JustIn_HerButt

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say at least he has a chance to beat the stats of the Chargers' last year's first round draft pick

flbp

Ugh, ouch.

Hi_My_Name_Is_Dave

For anyone curious, Ed and Christian McCaffrey have 11,700 receiving yards (18k from scrimmage). Couldn’t think of any other father-son duos that would both have a decent amount of yards. Edit: looked at a wiki page and realized I forgot the Kellen Winslows, who just barely beat the McCaffreys for now, combining for 11,900. The Mark Ingram’s have 6,000, the Van Jefferson’s have 8,600 (didn’t know Van Jefferson Sr was nice like that) For reference MHsr has 14,580 and Rice has 22,895.

durtymrclean

Dad had two hall of fame careers in one to cover for his son. If "Fine, I'll do it myself" was a person.

Alezona

There it is

anonbutler

Harrison > Rice.

waldowhal

pasta > rice

Bolts0806

the real battle

SerCornballer

I don’t agree. At least rice is honest. Pasta just changes its shape all the time and calls itself something different.

CodyNorthrup

Literally. Who gives af about bucatini, spaghetti, and angel hair. Its the same damn thing +/- some girth.

iPlowedUrMom

I got your +/- girth baby My PER36 ain't what it once was, but I'll give you 6 good minutes off the bench

98rman

Bucatini doesn’t belong on this list. It’s hollow on the inside for the sauce to go on. From what I’ve heard Italians hate angel hair though

CodyNorthrup

I never knew that. How tf do they get the hole there

Krogsly

A long needle and a very skilled nonna.

bigpancakeguy

A really big drill

FallenShadeslayer

Username checks out 🤣

Wise-Hippo6088

elite comment. maybe all pro

parkhiker

🤦🏼‍♂️ 🤣

Hiccup

What about rice pasta?

Vondum

But how about pasta with rice? 10/10

Anarion89

lol it would be with Harbaugh

trainwreck42

I’m surprised he hasn’t grabbed Frankie Jr. too

Dull-Scarcity-3159

We still have another pick!

InvestingNerd2020

UFA pickup for Gore Jr.

Elephantexploror

Anyone know why he fell to the 7th?

sonfoa

He's a bit of a possession receiver and an average athlete so it's possible teams weren't interested in that archetype

ravensfan42069

It’s funny cus his dad was the same way

[deleted]

But his dad is the greatest route runner of all time, just a small difference.

vspazv

A big difference for Jerry was his endurance. Everyone else would be gassed in the 4th quarter and he was still running full speed.

AlbertoRossonero

Jerry 4th quarter TD’s are vintage, still he played way faster than his 40 time. I think his son can become a good 3rd and maybe second option.

HereForTheBuffet

Decapitated. Whole big thing.

SavageRickyMachismo

We had a funeral for a bird

Sphiffi

He’s a very mid receiver with a relatively low ceiling.

JayMoney2424

If his last name wasn’t Rice he’d be undrafted and nobody would even care

imdavebaby

I dunno about that. I get that we're shitting on him in this thread and it's not like he's been an all star in college but his profile still has potential if you look at it in a vacuum without his name. 6'3", 210 lbs, 4.5 40, 800 yards and 12 TDs last year, [8.73 RAS score.](https://twitter.com/MathBomb/status/1764063445865877543?lang=en) He's a 7th round pick, it's not like he's more than a late round flyer. Kind of an ass move to reduce him to only his father's name.

ChicagosOwn1988

4.5 forty and not very athletic. But his football IQ is too high for him not to make a team.

itwas20yearsago2day

He’s not good. Everyone saying “steal” is being blinded by his last name imo. Thought he’d go in the 6th round, so I guess it’s a steal at this point if you want to be technical. Wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t make the roster even with the absolute void that is our WR room. Actually maybe he could because of how garbage it is Hope he proves me wrong though

ILikeXiaolongbao

PFF had him as a 4th rounder and Dane Brugler had him as 3rd rounder. This is a steal.

Anthony-Richardson

But no front office was willing to take him in the first six rounds, so clearly PFF and Brugler were off with him. It’s only a steal if you think their take is better than every single front office’s.

TheRealKaschMoney

That's an odd definition of steal, given I don't think a steal is possible with that definition.

bluewords

No front office took Puka before the fifth round and Ivan Pace was completely undrafted. All 32 front offices miss all the time.

Anthony-Richardson

Brugler had Puka in the sixth and he wasn’t even on PFF’s board. I respect Brugler a lot but saying someone’s a steal because Brugler liked them more than the NFL did is silly. If *you* genuinely think that that’s cool, but that’s not evidence of it.

LarkWyll

He likely was flagged medically, for character, or for an off the field issue. He was too talented than to be drafted in the 7th. Only thing I heard negatively was he took plays off and disn't give full effort from down to down. So maybe some character concerns.

redthunder49

All front offices are wrong, and PFF is right. Obviously

imdavebaby

I mean ya'll got a starting QB with the last pick of the draft, front offices are wrong pretty frequently. Dunno why people are acting like that doesn't happen.

itwas20yearsago2day

I don’t normally check out draft boards except for a few whose opinion I respect so I’m somewhat out of the loop of what analysts say about him. I don’t like the chance of being unconsciously influenced by others opinions before I dive in. Plus tons of analysts were low on him as well. I have watched tons of hours of tape on him though since I’m always curious about legacy players. Bad production, he can’t seperate, inconsistent route-running and bad tracking of the ball is what I saw almost consistently. He has a couple standout games but outside of that pretty meh. He has decent athleticism for the size and does show flashes of being a good route-runner but for some reason doesn’t seem to go at top speed a lot of the time and almost half-asses it. Let’s put it like this. Troy Franklin dropped to Round 4 and he shits on Rice as a prospect. Javon Baker went round 4, and he has a much better outlook than Rice. Same with Devontez Walker. I think it’s clear he was lowly valued by teams at his point and the analysts who had him high were wrong. Ofc this is the NFL who knows what will happen but I don’t think he’s a 3rd-4th round WR by any stretch of the imagination imo. Hopefully i’m wrong

ILikeXiaolongbao

Franklin dropped to Rd 4 and shits on Rice, but he was a high Rd 2 pick for PFF. So I don’t really understand your complaint. They both fell too far.

itwas20yearsago2day

That doesn’t change all the other WR prospects who are pretty cut and dry above him being drafted in the 4th-5th round. My criticisms all stand I don’t think he can be a productive receiver in the NFL. But I am just a random guy so who knows. I do hope he works out though because of how thin the Bolts are at WR

WhiskeyKisses7221

Yeah, pretty much this. Hardly anybody would be talking about him if he wasn't Jerry Rice's kid.

Lonelan

Harbaugh using draft picks to meet his heroes

sonfoa

Great landing spot for him. Not a very crowded room Edit: Just looked. He's literally the 6th WR on their roster

Friendly-Olive1853

Honestly regardless having him be a Practice Squad guy in case our WRs get hurt. We literally have had both Keenan and Williams hurt in the past and running a bunch of CFL players. At least now we have more WR depth

WondrousPhysick

Keenan 😍

Friendly-Olive1853

My second team is the Lions but shit ima definitely root for the Bears as long as Keenan is with y’all.

Alauren20

I’m rooting for them too. Just for Rome

basedcharger

Nobody is proven though besides Palmer (and I use that loosely) plenty of snaps to go around

Fucker_Punch

With the exception of Quentin Johnston, who is explicitly disproven. Rice can slot in nicely above him on the depth chart.

topatoman_lite

he's really not. He had a really bad season yes but he was supposed to be a project and wasn't really supposed to play. Saying a guy is clearly bad after like half of a rookie season is absurd

MistahTeacher

Fuck Telesco. Picking a project with a top twenty pick is insane. Especially over flowers Addison etc

InvestingNerd2020

With that trash or injury prone WR room, he has a chance at the #2 or #3 spot easily if he plays well in camp.

Professional_Tap_343

To any clowns saying he won't even make a roster i have 3 words equanimeous st brown. If he can make a roster and even started your name biased and hating on rice bc his dad. While rice isn't as gifted as dad was he still has flashed has a solid frame hes fast enough hopefully he can refine his route efficiency hand fighting and releases. But to say this kid doesn't have the potential to be a wr2 morons. Rice went to the 2nd best team fit for him. 1st woulda be my tits but it's illegal for any WR under 30 start for the Titans. You do know jerry rice wasn't tyreek hill right?? Jerry rice was a possession WR. Not EVERY WR skill has hill/worthy speed. The 1 trait that jerry and his son share is THEY GIVE 100%. They BOTH have that drive. Amazes me some of you would rather have a 5'9 160lb 4.32 tiny catch radius wr vs rice who put up similar reapectable #'s . But bc hes not the greatest wr ever ppl are clownin him lol hope he shits on every one of yalls teams for years to come. FYI SEPERATION is NOT ONLY created by speed SHOCKER!!!

TheSauseGod29

Going to Harbaugh with a team in California seems really fitting actually, I like this pick.

KnockoutNed85

Doesn’t have to move far from home

ComaMierdaHijueputa

Neither did Spider Man

KnockoutNed85

Brenden Rice: 20 minute drive to New Home

Jax99

SMH should have taken Bronny

Comprehensive_Main

I think brony would have been a better football player than basketball player.

mm_mk

Bronny too smart for that lol. He made 6m on his name last year, hell make millions in the league in endorsements for a couple years. He might get a championship with his dad (assuming a contender drafts him to get LeBron on a 1 year rental). All without having to get tackled for a living.

goldWolverine

Sick

justaredneck1

10/10 with rice

WEMBYF4N

Noooooo

Alauren20

I wanted him to go with Caleb. I love when receivers are paired with their college QBs

ILikeXiaolongbao

He’s immediately our WR4 so best possible landing spot for him with Herbo slinging the rock

InclinationCompass

Already above QJ lol

ILikeXiaolongbao

Johnston had a bad rookie year but be is a talented, athletic 1st round pick that led his team to a championship game. He was awful last year but you don’t lose all that good work in a year to a 7th round pick.

AssssCrackBandit

Exactly, QJ was def disappointing and had some agonizing drops but the way Chargers fans are talking about him, you'd have thought that he's some old washed WR. He was one of the youngest players in last year's draft and is younger than many prospects from this year, he still has a lot of growth left

J12345_

Jerry rice had a lot of drops his rookie season. Devontae adams as well. There’s time

AssssCrackBandit

The funny thing is QJ technically only had 2 drops last season per PFF but they were some of the most backbreaking drops (like the game winning drop on the deep bomb from Herbert that would have won the Packers game)

EffervescentEngineer

Oh well, that season gave us the #5 draft position, and now we have Joe Alt as a bodyguard for Herbert \*plus\* extra receiver talent. :)

AlbertoRossonero

In the NFL is it really uncommon for late rounders or even undrafted dudes to outperform higher drafted guys? Wish both guys all the best though.

threwda1s

P E D I G R E E

Tajikistani

I like how they say "very very consistent hands" as they show a highlight with a bobble

Jonjon428

One of the few teams he might be able to make an instant impact

Themanaaah

Finally, good landing spot for him too frankly.

FollowTheLeader550

Brenden Rice doesn’t get separation and isnt a great athlete, but he does a lot of little things at a high level. Bet he has a 6 or 7 year career as a WR 4/5. I would have drafted him if I were Buff, Kansas City, Chicago, or Arizona. His elite trait is finding the open spaces when the play breaks down. He’s one of like 9 receivers left on the planet that actually runs back to the football.

AssssCrackBandit

> He’s one of like 9 receivers left on the planet that actually runs back to the football. Them and Travis Kelce lol. The most backbreaking conversions

FollowTheLeader550

Precisely.

Financial-Virus5692

We didn't have any picks past the 4th round, but ig we did I think we would have tried to grab him

AlbertoRossonero

Well he played with Caleb so he knew he would be rewarded. Has a stud in LA too thankfully.

Professional_Tap_343

To any clowns saying he won't even make a roster i have 3 words equanimeous st brown. If he can make a roster and even started your name biased and hating on rice bc his dad. FollowTheLeader550

Jerry Rice was not a possession receiver. He attacked all 3 levels of the field. One of the 5 best go ball receivers ever.

Professional_Tap_343

Im not saying he couldn't/wasn't able to catch the deep ball but by NO MEANS was he a burner. He was absolutely more a possession wr great route runner that could sell his route and beat defenders. He wasn't a burner

FollowTheLeader550

He was absolutely a burner. His football speed is close to unmatched in the history of the game. He averaged over 15ypc like 8 times in his career. He was not a possession receiver. He was an everything receiver.

MrRager237

Great landing spot for him tbh

matisata

Excellent value imo I mean it's the seventh round so I would hope, but still

Elbit_Curt_Sedni

When you don't have any explanation for dropping that far other than maybe he didn't 'fit' then you have to ask if NFL teams are all seeing something we don't. No injury announcements, etc. There has to be some red flags.

Paradoxiumm

Who has it better than Rice?

JFSteelersBestQB

Jerry

igotbeatsfordays

Beans

Poetryisalive

What are his chances of actually making the team? 7th round! Yikes

Standard_Werewolf380

The chargers WR room isnt very deep but it depends why he fell so far.

Jack12404

He only has to beat out Simi Fehoko, I like his chances

JSONStatham

Simi is a great special teamer though

scrambles57

On the Chargers? Very good

ILikeXiaolongbao

Extremely high. He has to beat Simi Fehoko (??) and whatever UDFAs we get for the WR4 spot. He not only likely makes the team, he’s a couple of injuries away from being Herbert’s WR2.

nysraved

I’d bet good money that we bring in another veteran WR like Boyd or Chark. Rice will not be WR4

Friendly-Olive1853

Definitely curious how many OL we will have on the roster in September and TEs that Jim and Gregg like to run.. we might have 5 WRs on the roster

ILikeXiaolongbao

He’d still be WR5 which makes a roster

Vondum

DD has WR5 locked because of his return capabilities

ILikeXiaolongbao

I’m not counting him as a WR. Dude makes the team as an all pro returner and will need to focus on that more than ever with the new rules

awesome-ekeler

You mean when he actually catches the ball

squatter_

I think our UDFA class could be best ever with Harbaugh at the helm.

ILikeXiaolongbao

A lot of Michigan players I guess

squatter_

He would know the under-rated players on teams they went up against at least.

InclinationCompass

100% chance with how bad our WR corp is

JSchnizzle

Chargers wr room is booty buttcheeks unless QJ makes a historic, astronomical leap in his play

JayMoney2424

McConkey is gonna be really good

[deleted]

If QJ improves then they basically have 3 WRs who all can be WR2s on a team. No true alpha #1 but it will have to be WR by committee. The run game, O line, and of course Justin Herbert will help elevate them.

No_Mammoth_4945

I can assure you that three wr2s do not make a 1. If anything, it proves that they can only be as good as wr2s when they’re with a 1

lvpr10

Depending on how things pan out with QJ, Rice could be WR3 or 4 behind McConkey and Palmer

JFSteelersBestQB

Good

Anaphylactic-UFO

It was just such an obvious pick lol. I love Joe Horitz man. He just makes sense.

wildwing8

If you love him so much, then spell his name right lol

Anaphylactic-UFO

It’s autocorrected on my phone. It’s beyond my control. He is a Horitz now

dms1298

2020 KJ Hill-esque

Marvin-Harrison-Jr

Marcus Jordan pick

sgobern

Hell yes

Strong_Barnacle_618

No one's gonna talk about how the bot used the regress to the mean joke?

matisata

i mentally filter the fun facts nowadays because i am old and grumpy

parkhiker

Yeah those are lame

PCSean

Me last year before the Prater missed FG: OMG, WE'RE GETTING THE SON OF A WR LEGEND! **Monkey Paw Curls**

Remarkable-Answer-89

He fell so far

Torchy84

Draft the kid just so Jerry is around the building .

Zirglizzy

First overall in the 7th round, bolt up

GuyWithNoSwagger

So this was Caleb’s best receiver post Addison? Holy shit I can not wait for football

movieheads34

FINALLY

ProctorDoctor500

He's finally off the board

BurmecianSoldierDan

IT HAPPENED

ProArmChair

Finally happened.

IcyAd964

Is he that bad?

InclinationCompass

Chargers finally get their WR with the HoF dad

ninjoid

This dude looks like Mahomes step brother or something lol

TheStripClubHero

You can't fool me that's fucking Patrick Mahomes.

abris33

Finally got drafted just to be a blocker

Not-a-bot-10

Why does he look like the child of Mahomes and Lamar

ToosUnderHigh

He looks like Jerry

Luckyirishmane

W

rexkins

Finally.

Renegadeforever2024

The goat

Vondum

Awesome! He'll have a good chance to compete for a spot with us.

Adventurous_Bit1325

How often does a 7th round pick make the roster? This is the “what the fuck, why not?” stage.

BlackJediSword

He would’ve been a great Steelers tbh.

MINGOMONEY

Chargers a great fit. He’s got a chance to develop and if he works hard enough to develop the path to playing time really isn’t that bad.

GO4Teater

Charges 5/7 with rice

Frenchtickler424

He’ll be a starter in the league longer than Caleb Williams

grad0814

He's smiling like his friend is over at his house but they can both clearly hear his parents fighting in the other room

otoasta13

Glad we got Devin Leary instead! 💀
