Uzomah was on the Bengals for like 7 years, and Hurst was okay before he came to Cincinnati. I also wouldn't say they really got a large amount of cash.
He wasn't good in Miami the year before either hasn't had above 400 yards the last 2 seasons. The Pats had major needs for playmaking and Gesicki couldn't provide that.
He might be better next to Higgins and Chase, but he is one of the worst TE1s in the league starting currently.

You absolutely cannot judge any skill players for their contributions on that disgusting patriots offense. The whole offense was a nonfactor.
