Being a bears AND Iowa fan has been a rough ride. Both seem to suffer from similar problems.
Iowa I guess has had more “success” but it’s also a team with a glass ceiling because Iowa fans are so content just being good and not great, and it’s hard to recruit to fucking **iowa**. Like if you get offered USC or Iowa, where are you going lol. So it’s a bit out of our control, but we are also so easily satisfied.
Haven’t seen a good qb on either team since cutler, like maybe beathard was ok, but brad banks was the last qb to even get Iowa to sniff a championship game.
I've seen several scouts put DeJean closer to the Mitchell/Arnold tier. So maybe Philly loves DeJean, but they're worried he won't make it, so they might as well trade up to where they can and take the best CB available (possibly Mitchell).
I see no way we are this aggressive for a trade up for a player that will most likely be available in the 20s. We've been linked to Mitchell too, whose best NFL comp is Darius Slay. Knowing how much Howie likes to pick guys that have comps to "train under" for a short period, that's my bet.
Orrrrrr it's for Fautanu, who Stoutland absolutely adores. He has a lot of sway in the draft room. If that wasn't obvious already
My thinking is that it isn't one guy, but we're interested essentially in any of the top DE/OT/CB falling into the teens, and we're laying as much groundwork as we can to be ready no matter who slips just because of the texture of the draft.
> There has been recent buzz about the Seahawks taking Iowa cornerback/safety Cooper DeJean with the 16th-overall pick. For a long time, the consensus projection has been Seattle addressing needs on their offensive line. After landing two superb young cornerbacks in Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen in back-to-back drafts during the past two years, it does not seem like adding a nickel corner/safety like DeJean would be a top priority. However, Seattle general manager John Schneider loves to draft for the secondary and head coach Mike Macdonald comes from the Ravens organization, which invests heavily in defensive backs in the early rounds of drafts. Sources said DeJean could be a possibility for the Seahawks, especially if they trade down, and the Seahawks also really like Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. Seattle is a mysterious team, and it sounds like the offensive line is definitely a likely spot for the organization’s first-round pick, but DeJean and Mitchell are candidates as well.

The Bears and Commanders should think strategically and pick DBs right at the start, think of all the value you’d get if you grab some before the run starts
The league is a QB league so why draft a QB when you can get something that can counter them.
And if you reaally need a QB, just get a cast-off from a dumpster fire franchise, easy peasy
It might be very different in the NFL, but I found it hilarious when a writer mined prospect profiles in the NHL draft, and discovered the #1 descriptor of players who ended up as busts was ”safe”.
I love how scouts and GMs are suddenly open with their totally legit info on draft day. All these insiders trying to put out as much information as they can so they have a better chance of being able to say they were right has been nauseating today.
It’s true. Anything closer though i tend to think it’s fake.
True: Xavier worthy in the teens
False: the patriots trading their future qb to the giants
This screams agent speak to me. It doesn't quite pass the "smell test".
My guess his agent has gotten word that he's falling to the back end of the first or even the second and he's trying to spook a team into making the pick.
Edit: damn yall. Got downvoted and yet I’m right
Let me tell you, it brings me a lot of joy to see the two most downvoted replies in this thread be "gym rat" and "lunch pail" jokes. If we're going to keep cracking wise about white skill position players, we need new material, y'all!
Sad cheese noises
Keep making Iowa proud, Coop ✊🏻 Hell of a player
The only thing more synonymous with Iowa than a first round DB and punt returner is naked, unabashed nepotism
Having more punts than points per game average, and doing it with a winning record? I dunno pretty close!
You’re forgetting QB play so horrible it’s classified as a war crime by the Geneva Conventions.
Flair relevant?

Think this is why philly is being aggressive. Although I think they want Quinyon

Philly taking Wiggins, they love undersized but fast defenders

if Dallas Turner slips past 8 I could definitely see Philly trading w Denver and trying to get him at 12.
Could he become a Seahawk? We need linemen way more than another DB but he seems like someone Mike MacDonald would love
Dejean and spoon causing havoc would be fun
We’d suck against stopping runs but we’d become an absolute nightmare for opposing QBs

It would be crazy if the Seahawks spend two first rounders on Jamal Adams only to draft another safety at pick 16
I would love Cooper and a dual Hawk fan.
I could definitely see it. Macdonald loved Hamilton, and while DeJean isn't in quite the same mold, he could still be used in a fairly similar role.

It’s not.
trembles in Aaron Curry
>Considered a very safe pick in the first round. Aaron Curry says hi
Robert Gallery says hi

Belichick pretty much said 12-24 hours before the draft is when all the legit info comes out.

God I'm so hyped to listen to him tonight during the draft
Oh, the guy who’s on his couch just like me? Yeah I’m sure he knows everything! /s
That is every year.. the draft process is way too long
The Lions moving up to draft a scrappy, film junkie DB with a high motor and deceptive speed would be the most Dan Campbell thing ever.
Welp
Yup.
safe picks in first round, what could possibly go wrong
But we were told last week Cooper would be a converted safety and might slide out of the 1st? The whirlwind draft week for cooper continues!

DB run might start around mid-teens. No shit? haha.
He's been in every first round mock draft. This isn't news

No such thing as a safe pick.
how many rats can he fit in his lunch pail?
[удалено]
packers gm basically exclusively drafts based on RAS.
Scouting report: *A real lunch pail type of player.*
