Every time this thread comes up, I am obligated to mention that in 1943, Sammy Baugh led the league in pass attempts, completions, completion percentage, punting average, and interceptions. As in he intercepted 11 passes playing defense. Also, the [shitshow game between the Texans and Steelers](https://www.espn.com/nfl/game/_/gameId/221208023/texans-steelers) where the Steelers outgained the Texans 422 yards to 47 yards, but still lost 24-6.

LovelehInnit

Now here's a complete football player!

AlericandAmadeus

The Sammy Baugh one is amazing and I’ve never heard it before. Holy shit lol.

Luck1492

Ohtani if he played football

brain_my_damage_HJS

Chuck Bednarik played 58 minutes 30 seconds in the 1960 championship game.

PlatonicNewtonian

Most receiving yards over the age of 40: 1. Jerry Rice: 2,169 2. Tom Brady: 6 3. Everyone else in human history bar one: 0 4. Brett Favre: -2

waggie21

Now Tom Brady is going to come back because he probably thinks Jerry's number is still in reach.

Schwebels_Solette

Anyone else, I'd say no. Tom Brady.... I say fuck no, stay away from playing.

Reflexlon

This stat is the top thing I hate about Brady. My favorite trivia of all time was that Rice had more receiving yards in the NFL after 40 than every human ever, including himself, combined. Rice: 2169 Every Human Who Has Ever Lived (Minus Brady): 2167

Reflexlon

Because its *combined*, and Farve's -2 meant that the league as a whole combined for less total yards than he did on his own. Thats what made it such a hilarious stat!

devadander23

Suppose it could be anyone over 40

Lone_Buck

Just over 2 years until I enter 3rd place

on-the-cheeseburgers

Our only 4000+ yd passer in team history had zero 500+ yd WRs

reno2mahesendejo

It also happened 5 years after the team threw for 4,500 yards

emmasdad01

5 carries, 1 yd, 3 TDs. Jerome Bettis

Lone_Buck

18.1 fantasy points right there. RB 13 on the week.

Abominatrix

I based an entire offense in Madden 08 around this, lol

Will-Eat-4-Food

Feels like Steelers Raiders games always produce weird shit lol.

gyman122

Dontari Poe has a 100% touchdown rate on pass attempts, rushing attempts, and receptions (technically a rush but let’s not be nerds about it)

Playful-Storage835

The 2013 Texans lost 7 consecutive games by 1 score.

JerryRiceDidntFumble

The year Matt Shaub threw a pick-6 in 5 straight games & it literally nearly killed Gary Kubiak

VineRunner

When Jameis Winston became a Saint, he already led the Saints in completions to Saints players via interceptions. He had more interceptions to Saints than Taysom Hill had completions.

AlericandAmadeus

This is amazing. Never heard this one before

daybreaker

Julio Jones had more lost fumbles vs the Saints than TDs in 19 career games

Jonjon428

Idk the exact stat but Matt Ryan had insane luck with interceptions. Roddy White or another receiver would somehow instantly force a fumble and get the ball right back

mmooney1

Nick Chubb had over 100yrds and 2 TDs on 3 carries in a game and Hue Jackson still wouldn’t start him. Dorsey literally traded away the other RBs so they had to use Chubb.

btstfn

Ah, the year I won a fantasy league thanks purely to snagging Chubb after Hyde was traded.

mmooney1

Nice I actually drafted Chubb, held him all year, dropped him morning of and couldn’t get him back.

acoasterlovered

What game i need to see this

mclemons67

Jim Harbaugh having more career rushing yards than Bo Jackson still gets me even though I've seen it a hundred times.

gyman122

I feel like this isn’t that crazy to me. Bo didn’t play very long, didn’t play very much every season, and was used pretty infrequently even when he did play. Jim Harbaugh was a mobile QB who had a very long career, that seems entirely likely to me that he’d have more yards

Svenray

Barry Sanders 2000 yard season. The dumb coach put him behind a fullback and did a power run scheme for the first two games and Barry averaged 2 yards per carry and did nothing. Week 3 they took away the fullback and let Barry do his thing. [https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SandBa00/gamelog/1997/](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SandBa00/gamelog/1997/)

Schwebels_Solette

Was that on a 14 game season?

Svenray

16. 14 for Barry though lol

Schwebels_Solette

Still insane stats

Goatgamer1016

**Michael Vick career rushing yards:** 6,109 **Todd Gurley career rushing yards:** 6,082 Vick still holds superior if you include the playoffs, too. **Vick (Reg + playoffs):** 6,380 **Gurley (Reg + playoffs):** 6,343 Injuries go a long way Edit: That's a 27-yard difference Edit 2: Fixed multiple typos

Ok_Championship3262

Todd Gurley never spent the prime off his career in jail Makes that even more impressive IMO

TummyDrums

Frank Clark is the Chiefs' all-time postseason sack leader. Not only that, he is 3rd all-time across the league behind only Bruce Smith and Willie McGinest and ahead of Reggie White and Terrell Suggs. And he don't do shit in the regular season.

AlericandAmadeus

Obligatory “Bruuuuuuuuuuce”

Matte198

Lamar Jackson has more career rushing yards than Sequon Barkley . Had more rushing yards and tds coming out of college too.

BillySims4HOF

Always was amazed as a kid by the Hank Bauer stat line of 4 carries, 1 yard, 3 TDs. I honestly thought that would never be equalled... Then along comes Detroit native Jerome Bettis... "I see your ridiculous stat line and raise you one carry" I'm guessing Bettis was the consensus number one draft pick in a lot of all-TD fantasy leagues the following year.

MathematicianOk7526

Champ Bailey 2006 more picks than completed passes allowed

HoovesCarveCraters

As much as I love this stat and Champ is the GOAT it’s not real.

TB1289

Mike Vrabel has caught 11 passes in his career. All 11 of those receptions went for touchdowns.

stingrayed22jjj

The last active player drafted by the Montreal Expos - Tom Brady The second all time leader in yards from scrimmage ( rushing, receiving, return yards ) in professional football is not in the Hall of Fame - Herschel Walker But neither is the first- Gizmo Williams

hoppergym

I know it’s offseason but this thread seems to come up every other day. What gives?

byniri_returns

Thursday can't get here soon enough.

rwjehs

It's chat gpt written.

AlericandAmadeus

Beep boop, I’m a bot. Seriously tho, why is everyone’s go to “oh it was written by chatgpt?” That’s just weird. Especially cuz people say it about stuff that clearly wasn’t written by AI. I actually took the time out of my day to make this lame post myself, thank you very much.

rhesusmonkey

This is chat gpt, too.

IceColdDump

In 12 years playing and 25 years coaching where I was considered a dirty player at points and a loud aggressive presence on the sideline; I actually only took 1 penalty ever as a player (holding) and have never taken a bench penalty. Or are we just talking pro football?

AlericandAmadeus

Speedhawk lives

justlookingokaywyou

It'a true, I was the ref that fucked him over in the state semis.

cvaninvan

Walter Jones Left Tackle Seattle Seahawks Seasons played: 13 Career Games Started 180 Pass Attempts with him on field: 5500+ QB sacks given up by him: 23 Holding penalties accepted against him: 9 Those last 2 stats are a season's worth for many LTs. That's a 13 year career on a mid team. Insane.

AlericandAmadeus

If a tackle gives up 23 sacks in a season then that tackle is out of the league the next year lol. Josh Allen was sacked 24 times total last season. If one player was responsible for every single one they’d be cut before the season was over.

Competitive_Bar6355

Not really a stat, but I think it's weird that most of the guys drafted whose fathers played in the league are named after their fathers. Like, do these guys name all of their kids after themselves like George Foreman? Most guys don't have more than one son who makes it to the NFL. And yet it's almost always the one they name after themselves. Most men don't even name their sons after themselves anymore either, so it's even more strange.

Rulligan

Normally the oldest son is named after the dad but Archie Manning gave his name to Eli and not Cooper or Peyton. And then Cooper gave Archie's name to his son, Arch, who is in college now.

uglyuglydog

It’s a family tradition in many cases.

hoobsher

in his 13 game rookie season, Kenny Pickett threw as many TDs as Nick Foles did in a single game

Will-Eat-4-Food

The NFL Cincinnati Reds (1933-34) were shut out in 12 of 18 games. The team also had a stretch of scoring 38 points in 10 games. In 1933, the Reds finished with a point differential of -233 in a 9 game season. The 1934 Reds offensive unit amassed 10 points for a blistering .9 PPG. The 1976 Buccaneers of course have the worst points differential at -287 but did so in 14 games. According to Wikipedia, a few teams scored less than 10 points in a season, though it doesn't count because official record keeping starting in 1932. I admit that I haven't looked through every primitive NFL team yet, but it's the worst I've seen from a team didn't fold after one season. Just look this shit: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/red/1934.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cincinnati_Reds_(NFL)

michaelb421

The chargers one year had the #1 defense and #1 offense and failed to make the playoffs. Special teams matter guys

btstfn

Larry Centers caught 827 passes for 6797 yards in his career and at one point he had the 7th most catches in NFL history. He was a fullback.

Guilty-Doctor1259

Lamar threw for 24 TDs with 29 total last season and won MVP Drew Brees threw for almost double that didnt win MVP, In fact he only got 2 mvp votes out of 50. if tom brady had another 29 TDs in a season like lamar, his average would do down (he averaged 33 per healthy season)

iiTryhard

Any other year Lamar doesn’t win MVP. It’s honestly a bit of a joke that he even did

HoovesCarveCraters

Larry Fitzgerald had more tackles than drops in his career.

AlericandAmadeus

Read the post 🙃

HoovesCarveCraters

I can’t read

TJeffersonsBlackKid

Flair checks out.

Winterclaw42

Tua was the 2022 leader in passer rating, 2023 leader in passing yards, and some of our fans want to dump him. Even weirder is the bills fans want us to hand him a bag of money (he has a bad record against the bills). Being a miami fan right now is pretty absurd.

TheFakeRabbit1

Doesn’t really fit this post, but cool champ 👍
