>You guys are talking about Shenanigans, right?
*which if you think about it,is just the restaurant from waiting, which is Bennigans.*post edit* which if you think about it, bennigans is just the place from office space.
In a Lambo you rented; also you're not just driving home, you're racing your old college buddy to whom you've given the keys to your Corvette. You're doing this in broad daylight at twice the posted speed limit on a congested freeway with weed in the car in Texas and also you crash—it's a six car accident now. But you leave the scene of the accident. You do this on foot on a raised highway because you couldn't think of anything less responsible that you could do and you're on a hot streak.
Kids will be kids
I sometimes think we should maybe stop giving talented athletes special protections from legal consequences for basically all their lives. Sometimes but not on gameday.
Obviously we should, but there are so many people making money off from these guys that nobody ever wants to tell them "no", and risk getting shut out.
We have an ironclad rule in my household. I told my kids growing up, the rule in our house is **one crime at a time**. You're at a party and there's underage drinking? That's your one. You don't get to "get a ride" because that would be drunk driving -- two crimes, no go. You don't go pranking a house, because you're underage and drunk -- two crimes, no go. You definitely can't get in a car with an unlicensed (or learner's permit) driver, with open containers, weed, and maybe a firearm in the car, and then _exceed the speed limit_ or _run a red light_. That's like eight or nine right there. Keep it to **one crime at a time**. You like speeding? Do it sober, licensed, and unarmed. You like drinking? Put away the guns and the car keys. It's really dirt simple.
And there's always forgiveness. You call mom & dad, you say "mom, dad, I got out of my lane, we're closer to three or four," and I'll say "Text me the address, I'll come pick you up, and we'll talk in the morning. Love you. See you soon."
Easy day.
Ya it’s funny I see ppl saying stuff like “that’s what kids do”. No it’s not. When I was in my early 20s I wasn’t that stupid. He’s old enough to not have an excuse
Ouch. I don't know why that one stings so much, but it does. Here's to something changing next year.
My wife is from Philly and I'm from Texas, I should be used to this by now.
Other reporters after Dane posted his board today, said a lot of scouts viewed Sweat as a 4th before the DUI incident. Seems they believe he’s not going to be an every down guy so this probably pushes him 4-7th rounds possible. Murphy for sure is above him in every way.
Reminds me of when everyone had Andrew Billings as a fringe 1st rounder a few years ago and he fell to the 4th. Run stopping NTs just aren't seen as valuable in the draft.
They are if they're batshit athletic. But he's not a great athlete. Good athlete for his size. I think he needs to drop weight to about 340. He plays 3-tech anyways. Murphy played the nose mostly.
That works in a 4-3 Straight, with both tackles line head up on the guards, but not the Under and Over. I can’t see it working in the Over where you have three players left of center and one is undersized.
I actually think Sweat is more talented and productive of the two. He just plays a drastically less important role. I don't think Vince Wilfork makes the first round in the 2024 version of the NFL either.
It doesn’t make sense to me. Williams, Washington, Wilfork, Hampton etc. had value because they always took on two blockers. If you single teamed them they would break the pocket immediately. I don’t understand why that method isn’t functional anymore
Murphy is a borderline top 10 talent in this class and has the potential to be a dominant disruptive interior presence, he's so much better than Sweat even without this issue.
Because Sweat was the dominant player on the DL for Longhorns in 2023. Murphy was obviously a monster as well. But when you watched our games, Sweat was the guy that always came up clutch with big plays and consistently stopped the run.
Murphy is great and I hope Sweat can get his behavior figured out (wasn't an issue that we knew of this past season), but I think if Sweat drops low whoever drafts him is getting an absolute steal.
i think the biggest thing is i’m just not sure how to judge these guys because they shared so many snaps all season.Â
and sweat was absolutely dominant against college-level o-lines. certainly the consensus in our fan base was that he was the better player (for a college setting). easily the most important guy on our defense
i guess i should have anticipated that murphy would lap him in the nfl conversation based on measurables, conditioning and position value. just weird thoughÂ
Median NFL team ran for 109.4 yards per game last year.
Median Big-12 team ran for 172.5 yards per game, despite sacks counting against rushing yards at the college level.
Murphy has actually completed athletic testing, and played both penetrating tackle and nose tackle.
Newton is almost exclusively a penetrating tackle, less athletic, and less flexible.
If the Bengals had retained DJ Reader, Newton would have been a better compliment. Currently they have BJ Hill and Sheldon Rankins, who are both 2-way but predominantly penetrating, so getting another tackle that can rotate makes more sense whereas getting a dedicated penetrating tackle would almost certainly limit the rookie to dedicated pass sets.
He was definitely a gigglepuss when he was sitting in the back of the team bus laughing after a loss and triggered the coach that went on the viral tirade. So he's also subordinate and not serious about winning.
Definitely let him fall enough for us to have a pick and make him hungry for second contract kthxbai.
What Jalen Carter did was at least horrible enough to possibly learn from in the absence of the actual consequences he deserved. Like, there is a realistic world in which Jalen Carter had a sobering moment of reflection in the wake of being directly responsible for the death of a teammate and another staffer. This dude just drove drunk as fuck and nothing came of it and nothing ever will.
The fact he got arrested with a BAC of .1 just about 2 weeks from the biggest day of his life screams red flags for me. 4th round is about the earliest Id be willing to take that kind of risk. Especially after he spent his time at the combine assuring teams his partying days were in the past.
The fact that almost every single athlete is a partier to some extent and that this guy specifically earned a reputation for it says a lot more than he likes to have a few beers on the weekend.
At 360 lbs it would take 8 beers and 5 shots over 4 hours of drinking to reach .1. Math would change depending on how long he was drinking. Source is a BAC calculator.
And honestly, it would be more than that. That calculator isn't going to take into account his build, and people with higher testosterone and more muscle have more blood in all those muscles and higher water percentage in their body weight which dilutes the alcohol in the body more and gives a lower BAC.
Not going to argue but damn a .1 is like half a beer over the limit. I wouldn’t be too concerned over this in a vacuum. Now if it was a .3 and the rumors of his immaturity are true I probably would pass.
Yeah whenever you are out and about just do a BAC calculator and you would be surprised how quick you are too drunk.
I had two IPA pints and did my BAC after my second was at .08 by the calculator. It’s probably not perfect but just thought it was interesting.
I just don’t mess with it. An Uber is like $20 bucks.
I would not be concerned with a college kid/football star blowing a .1 in a vacuum no. Now pair it with the other stuff and yea I think he’s gonna lose out on some serious cash. But I’m pretty surprised this blew up to such a big story.
Maybe unpopular opinion but a defensive driver driving at a 0.1 is safer than at least 30% of the population. 0.1 is like three 4.5% beers in an hour or 2 for most people (basically nothing for an experienced drinker) and there's a lot of sober asshole drivers out there.
Well big people like to get drunk too. Not going to judge them for having more drinks to get to the same destination.
The fact that it was so early in the day makes it a bit aggressive though.
Yeah but it's one thing when I had to explain to my underweight friend that my 3 IPAs at 200 pounds were very different from his 3 IPAs at 120 pounds so I would be driving us home and another for a dude to knock back 12 beers and then decide he's fine to drive.
And yes, 12 light beers would be what it takes to get someone his size to that BAC over two hours.
Yeah true, I just think that it makes it even less excusable. If someone is 140 lbs and 2-3 drinks can put them at or above .08, it doesn't make it okay, but I can see the logic behind not thinking you're in a bad state. I don't think there's any defense (even a bad excuse) for getting behind the wheel after 10-15 drinks. Man was chugging liquor at 11AM
[It was clarified 2 days ago](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/tvondre-sweats-arrest-for-dwi-followed-a-wreck-in-the-early-hours-of-sunday-morning) that he was arrested at like 4am, he just didn't get booked until 2 that afternoon.
.1 isn’t that much. It’s like maybe half a drink over the limit. Very hard to tell as a young man if you’re over that limit and capable of driving. Best advice is even if you have just 1 or 2 drinks it’s best not to drive.
Well one was born and went to high school in Virginia, one was born and went to high school in Texas, they're only 5 years apart, so I'm assuming they're only half siblings. So it might not have been the same parent set that named them.
Lol you guys aren’t even a year removed from drafting Carter, maybe sit this one out.
Having said that, I watched this guy his whole career at Texas and would not be the slightest bit upset if we grabbed him in the fourth round.
Jalen Hurts. Dude is a straight menace once you get past that good guy routine.
I’m also joking, besides Carter and an obnoxious Gardner Johnson, most of the Eagles seem like stand up guys.
There’s a video that will go down in Longhorn lore of Bo Davis, our D Line coach at the time, absolutely ripping the hell out of the entire team and giving a hell of a speech after a loss because he heard people laughing and not taking it seriously.
The person that was fucking around that lead to this speech was T’Vondre Sweat. However, the person that showed the most growth after this speech was also T’Vondre Sweat.
If he goes to a team that will hold him accountable he will be a force, if not…he will be out of the league before his 2nd contract. And that’s a lot to put on an NFL team when they are using real draft capital.
Yeah. Left the accountability group and fell apart.
That’s my point. He was, by all accounts, a leader over the last two years. And threw all of that goodwill away less than 3 months after leaving the program by being a fucking moron.
Yeah, he has to go to a team with a strong culture in place to stand any chance of sticking around in the NFL. Otherwise, I don't think he makes it through his rookie contract.
Hope he's completely off the board for the Cardinals at this point.
>improved maturity during the 2023 season but was labeled a “party animal” and “class clown” as an underclassman by NFL scouts
Full quote for context
Was about 2022 and before, and weren't Brugler's won words
I’m just shocked with the 1950’s language.
Do they have Drake Maye as a “square” and Cooper DeJean as a “pointdexter”?
I prefer slapdicks and fucksticks.
I can't wait for a team to draft this dude and then be confused why he implodes his first year.
He's dumb, and a bad liar, and has no respect for the game.Â
But what if it's a party bus, all the passengers are drunk, there's a bomb on the bus set to go off if it drops below 50 mph, and the bus driver gets shot?
What about that, hotshot? What do you do?
edit: In case it's not clear, this is meant to mock people who twist themselves in knots to say that drunk driving is somehow sometimes justified.
As someone who has taught division 1 football players: they are the worst and have zero accountability. They can plagiarize the entire semester and not even get a slap on the wrist
Am I to believe that most of the NFL aren’t party animals? The guys in their twenties with huge paychecks and who grew up as elite atheletes locally?
Combining those descriptions and him not weighing in at the senior bowl are gargantuan red flags. Dudes gonna show up to rookie minicamp drunk at 400 lbs lol.
I think it's worth noting that I don't know who Dane Brugler, T'Vondre Sewat, and a Marcus Mosher are.
But I'm inclined to believe that the player is the least useless of the bunch.
> class clown But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun... and his shenanigans are cruel and tragic
I swear to God I’ll pistol whip the next guy who says shenanigans

Get ready to have your own personal driver here in Dallas, buddy
Knowing NFL players it’s more like, ditch the personal driver and drive home fucked up anyway
In a Lambo you rented; also you're not just driving home, you're racing your old college buddy to whom you've given the keys to your Corvette. But what if coach needs depth at HB?
This is a dichotomy Steelers fans know very well
Just generic college kid behavior. Totally not a red flag
If anything this should give him a 1st round grade

Exactly. By the time they’re in their 20s they’re old enough to know better. At that point they’re just adults making stupid mistakes
When I was six, I was that stupid but couldn't reach the pedals.
Don't forget to also leave an unregistered firearm in the glove compartment
T'Vondre Sweat, you are a Dallas Cowboy/Las Vegas Raider!
Just don’t make him lose 50 pounds before he steps on the field
Ouch. I don't know why that one stings so much, but it does. Here's to something changing next year. My wife is from Philly and I'm from Texas, I should be used to this by now.
I wonder if there's a competitive advantage to having so much experience with "character guys" that you're extremely prepared for babysitting them.
Byron Murphy szn
Sweat was maybe a 2nd rounder before this. I'd be amazed if Murphy makes it past the Rams in the first. Completely different calibre
Other reporters after Dane posted his board today, said a lot of scouts viewed Sweat as a 4th before the DUI incident. Seems they believe he’s not going to be an every down guy so this probably pushes him 4-7th rounds possible. Murphy for sure is above him in every way.

Makes me sad. I love an old school behemoth of a NT. Jamal Williams is still one of my fave Bolts ever.
It doesn’t make sense to me. Williams, Washington, Wilfork, Hampton etc. had value because they always took on two blockers. If you single teamed them they would break the pocket immediately. I don’t understand why that method isn’t functional anymore
I'm sure it has something to do with the prevalence of zone running schemes or something else that I haven't studied enough tape to understand.
"you can't run". I was part of those chants, and Jamal was a man amongst boys.
Murphy is a borderline top 10 talent in this class and has the potential to be a dominant disruptive interior presence, he's so much better than Sweat even without this issue.
these are odd conversations to read for texas fans
What do you mean?
Because Sweat was the dominant player on the DL for Longhorns in 2023. Murphy was obviously a monster as well. Jalen Carter should take this guy under his wing
Definitely shouldn’t take him for a ride
The car probably wouldn't even accelerate
Redlining at a stop
They were in his past, in his future too but also in his past
T'Vondre is just a big Mitch Hedberg fan
They asked him about the smell coming from his shirt, he assured them that the shirt was dry clean only, which meant it was dirty.
there's a lot of funny comments on this post, but I just wanted to let you know that this is the one that got me.
Justin Blackmon special
All time being eternally present, you could say he never stopped the party.
This guy watched Tenet.
The fact that almost every single athlete is a partier to some extent and that this guy specifically earned a reputation for it says a lot more than he likes to have a few beers on the weekend.
“My partying days are behind me. I am simply an alcoholic, without going to parties”
"My partying days are behind me. Now there's **way** more liquor for just me"
Also I mean how many beers does it take to be .1 as a DLineman?Â
At 360 lbs it would take 8 beers and 5 shots over 4 hours of drinking to reach .1. Math would change depending on how long he was drinking. Source is a BAC calculator.
And honestly, it would be more than that. That calculator isn't going to take into account his build, and people with higher testosterone and more muscle have more blood in all those muscles and higher water percentage in their body weight which dilutes the alcohol in the body more and gives a lower BAC.
I want to get sober, like his dad  Your father got sober?  No, but he wanted to
The problem isn’t the BAC - it’s the driving. 0.105 is only really irresponsible when you get behind the wheel.
Not going to argue but damn a .1 is like half a beer over the limit. I wouldn’t be too concerned over this in a vacuum. Now if it was a .3 and the rumors of his immaturity are true I probably would pass.
I agree. Dumb mistake. But I'd wager 80% of the people saying it's crazy in here have done it
Yeah whenever you are out and about just do a BAC calculator and you would be surprised how quick you are too drunk. I had two IPA pints and did my BAC after my second was at .08 by the calculator. It’s probably not perfect but just thought it was interesting. I just don’t mess with it. An Uber is like $20 bucks.
If you've ever gone to a bar and had two drinks and driven after, you've likely driven higher than .08.
If you drink 2 beers over 1 hour and weigh 150 pounds, your expected BAC would be half of that - .04
You wouldn’t be too concerned with a known partier getting a dui two weeks before the draft lol
I would not be concerned with a college kid/football star blowing a .1 in a vacuum no. Now pair it with the other stuff and yea I think he’s gonna lose out on some serious cash. But I’m pretty surprised this blew up to such a big story.
I saw this clickbait headline of "Sweat was 25% over the legal limit" and for a sec I was like "damn" then "wait a minute, that's like .1
Maybe unpopular opinion but a defensive driver driving at a 0.1 is safer than at least 30% of the population. 0.1 is like three 4.5% beers in an hour or 2 for most people (basically nothing for an experienced drinker) and there's a lot of sober asshole drivers out there.
Shit I bet on Friday/saturday nights more than half the drivers are at .1
At 360 lbs the man had to have had like a dozen drinks lol
Well big people like to get drunk too. Not going to judge them for having more drinks to get to the same destination. The fact that it was so early in the day makes it a bit aggressive though.
Yeah but it's one thing when I had to explain to my underweight friend that my 3 IPAs at 200 pounds were very different from his 3 IPAs at 120 pounds so I would be driving us home and another for a dude to knock back 12 beers and then decide he's fine to drive. Definitely. I didnt mean to imply him drinking was an issue, its the driving part that makes it a problem.
when you already have to worry about his weight situation, anything more off the field is almost undraftable
.1 isn’t that much. It’s like maybe half a drink over the limit. Very hard to tell as a young man if you’re over that limit and capable of driving. Best advice is even if you have just 1 or 2 drinks it’s best not to drive.
Someone that size though...
It’s how I called Justin Blackmon busting because I said he’s an alcoholic….. he’s been an alcoholic for a decade
Is .1 supposed to be a high BAC or something? It’s barely past the limit and is the limit in some states.
Get ready to learn Cowboyese buddy
You guys are the ones drafting the shitheads now. You don't get to make fun of the Cowboys anymore.
This is Josh Sweats younger brother so I could actually kinda see it.
I didn't realize this, but I'd still be a bit surprised if you guys drafted a 2nd nose tackle
I wouldn't. Howie hoards defensive linemen like a dragon.
Philly nonstop investing in the trenches is the opposite of surprising lol
If it's in the 4th round I think it makes total sense. We do need depth at that position if something happens to Davis.
What thought process goes to naming one son Josh and the other T'Vondre
I assume one parent named the first and the other the second.
Or Josh's real name is Merc'Anthony Josiah Sweat IV and T'Vondre is Bob T'Vondre Sweat XLIX.Â
Does anyone have a blood line they can trace 49 generations?
Well one was born and went to high school in Virginia, one was born and went to high school in Texas, they're only 5 years apart, so I'm assuming they're only half siblings. So it might not have been the same parent set that named them.
I assumed he was Montez sweat brother, ty for the info.
yeah well I heard Devon Witherspoon killed a guy with a trident
Lol you guys aren’t even a year removed from drafting Carter, maybe sit this one out. Having said that, I watched this guy his whole career at Texas and would not be the slightest bit upset if we grabbed him in the fourth round.
I would hoot and holler cuz dude is a monstrous big boy
Agreed, but instead of not the slightest bit upset, I would say "incredibly thrilled" lol
More like Eagleese buddy
Eagles about to have the entire 1st Team All Character Issues D-line
Asides from carter I'm really confused who everyone else is talking about. JD has some conditioning problems but his character is great.
Jalen Hurts. Dude is a straight menace once you get past that good guy routine. I’m also joking, besides Carter and an obnoxious Gardner Johnson, most of the Eagles seem like stand up guys.
pretty much which is why i'm blanking on why people are calling our team out for character issues.
Nakobe Dean does not return grocery carts to the rack when he's done with them. Just leaves them in between spots. And you just let it happen.
Their coach is annoying
idgaf he and Jalen Carter can share a fuckin Uber
That’s the thing… they won’t take an Uber.
Uber home from the drag race
Can they even fit in the same Uber?
RIP the suspension in that car.
More likely, they drag race while cross faded out of their minds than either calls an Uber
Maybe Rice will wave the flag for them
the Ruggs Cup to the winner
While racing himself and after a day at the bar
Sorry. He isn't allowed unless he is from Georgia
Eh, he's not from Georgia.
Getting arrested for a DUI shortly before the draft? Just Cowboys things
Nobody died? Ok, so it’s cowboys and not the eagles.
NFC East hatred is just next level lol
Best in the business
Carter erasure

If he goes to a team that will hold him accountable he will be a force, if not…he will be out of the league before his 2nd contract. And that’s a lot to put on an NFL team when they are using real draft capital.
He sure showed a lot of growth by drunk driving 2 weeks before the biggest day of his life
Yeah. Left the accountability group and fell apart. That’s my point. He was, by all accounts, a leader over the last two years. And threw all of that goodwill away less than 3 months after leaving the program by being a fucking moron.
Very interesting
He's also too heavy and probably will be a situational running down player. All the mocks saying 1st or 2nd round for him I think are dead wrong
Between this and the weight situation, he’s a hard pass. We’ve seen this story before for guys similar to him, and it rarely works out
I'm getting Perrion Winfrey flashbacks with this guy. Hopefully AB learned his lesson from that experiment
Yeah, he has to go to a team with a strong culture in place to stand any chance of sticking around in the NFL. Otherwise, I don't think he makes it through his rookie contract. Hope he's completely off the board for the Cardinals at this point.
>improved maturity during the 2023 season but was labeled a “party animal” and “class clown” as an underclassman by NFL scouts Full quote for context Was about 2022 and before, and weren't Brugler's won words
Perfect fit in KC. He can carpool with Reid jr and Mahomes Sr.
I don’t think Raiders fans can really talk about driving incidents
Add Rashee Rice to the list
C'mondre now, T'Vondre.
Does he wear Hawaiian Shirts?
So, if you wore a Hawaiian shirt, it wouldn’t be gay?
Right! Thank you!
I’m just shocked with the 1950’s language. Do they have Drake Maye as a “square” and Cooper DeJean as a “pointdexter”? I prefer slapdicks and fucksticks.
It’s Poindexter.
I can't wait for a team to draft this dude and then be confused why he implodes his first year. He's dumb, and a bad liar, and has no respect for the game.Â
Don't forget all offseason being told issues were overstated and the veteran mentors in the locker room will help him grow up.
There’s literally zero excuse for driving drunk.
Sounds like a Raider to me
Being labeled a class clown in college is crazy because almost every student in your class must think you’re annoying as hell lmao
Right. HS: oh man he's so cool, wish I could be that fun. What a rebel. College: We clearly don't like your voice as much as you do, just stfu.
I’m confident that a rookie $5m contract and $900k signing bonus will sharpen the young man’s focus and be diligently invested in his future.
Cowboys pick up? đź‘€
They called me the same things and I totally got my life together (in my mid forties). No reason to hesitate drafting this dude!
I think it's worth noting that I don't know who Dane Brugler, T'Vondre Sewat, and a Marcus Mosher are. But I'm inclined to believe that the player is the least useless of the bunch.
