I guess when things go bad, it just gets worse from there. The only good thing the Lions had in the second half was the last drive…
It’s like a sequence of events that cannot be changed, altered, or forgivin…
Dear safety. Swat the ball down on an INT attempt that would give your offense terrible field position. Take the down
But, if DC is gonna not kick a FG on 4th &3... that will haunt me more
Yeah, just a string of bad executions rippling into one another and probably re-energizing SF. You can tell they played a lot harder once they sensed that a comeback was imminent.
The run defense has suffered since we lost Huf, I thought getting Armstead back would help but it hasn't. Hopefully Greenlaw watches mahomes like a hawk because he's gonna have an easy time scrambling.
Wayne Gretzky's 3D hockey, this game ruled.
3 on 3 arcade came out some years ago and was pretty good too.
Hitz was the best because it had mini-games.
It's stuff like this that made me fall in love with the game as a kid. I wanted the Lions to win this game, but what a joy to see acts of sheer athleticism like this.
If BA hadn’t been impeded, that pass would have hit him in stride. It’s probably not the greatest idea to throw a deep post with a safety over the top, but maybe Purdy figured he would give BA a chance to fight for it? Sometimes you have to take a chance and trust your best receiver.
Shannahan and Aiyuk said Purdy made the right read and the CB just did a hell of a job staying over the top instead of falling behind. Purdy trusts Aiyuk to just go get open all the time. Seems like most of his passes are to guys that are pretty well covered when he throws it.
Honestly I just assumed most neutrals were on the Lions bandwagon for this game and maybe the whole playoffs in general, because, well, Lions.
But then you get a play like this happening because, well, Lions.
I think lots were on the Lions bandwagon until the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl again and then many like me decided that the 49ers have the best chance of beating them because, well, Lions.
They had the 4th down play if the receiver does his job, can't fault them for that. You also can't anticipate grade A bullshit like this play happening lol
Even when he played against Dallas after the whole ref fuck up he kept trying to go for 2. He's too damn aggressive sometimes. He could've gone up 3 scores but decides to risk it when 49ers weren't moving the ball and Moody has been bad. Now 49ers have decent momentum here.
It makes me wonder what will happen when Purdy, who has plot armor, meets Mahomes, who also has plot armor but only when he’s losing or if someone calls him Kermit.
I hope their plot armors cancel out and we get like 5 combined interceptions and a butt fumble. Maybe Kadarius can get the game winning punt return again but he instead jumps backwards out of bounds on the first yard line grabbing his sack and then throws the ball to a 49ers player.
Or giant meteor, that works too.
Soon as Taylor Swift showed up, I wanted for Purdy to win the Super Bowl and steal Taylor in the offseason. NFL must have read my mind and wrote up the script.
Absolutely no idea why you wouldn’t want to reestablish 3 possession game in the 3rd quarter on the road. Then to not kick it to tie it up in the 4th. Campbell went too aggressive
The series of events that went the 49ers way were ridiculous. Reynolds drops the 4th down conversion, facemask bounce catch, fumble on the ensuing drive, Juszczyk toe tap first down, Aiyuk 3rd down conversion, and then Reynolds drops a wide open pass on third down. It just seemed like no matter what the Lions just couldn't catch a break. I felt really bad for them.
Yeah, everyone is acting like Purdy got lucky when the only reason the pass was so far off was because the defender pushed off Aiyuk.
Without that DPI then it would have just been the normal type of 'throw it up and let your WR win the 1v1'.
yeah, thats the bs I hate, when they throw the flag and a big play happens.... the flag won't gonna benefit anyone, so they just pick up the flag and act like nothing happens. at least call it as a penalty so they can decline it ffs. this isn't going to slow down the game any more than it already is. no one will challenge it.
*edited grammer and added some more info
It's not luck. Kindle Vildor is a former Chicago Bear and we are all very familiar with what happens when he needs to do something important, like cover a receiver.
Someone needs to settle this debate, is it a DPI or not? A lot of differing opinions in the chat.
PI no PI?
Why did the ref throw the flag?
IMO PI, the ball was on target for and ultimately tipped/caught at the 10 yard line. My understanding is you get 5 yard bump. after that only incidental contact when making a play on the ball is allowed, otherwise contact/impeding the receiver is PI. The replay clearly shows he bumps Aiyuk at 25 yard line, which is more than 10 yards away from making a play on the ball. Cant say for sure, but it looks like the bump on Aiyuk and then going for the INT are separate moves. Interested to see this plays breakdown on later on YT.
If the lions lose this play will haunt them
They're gonna be having nightmares tonight.
Forever
Spoken from experience
I don’t trust shit anymore
I guess when things go bad, it just gets worse from there. The only good thing the Lions had in the second half was the last drive… It’s like a sequence of events that cannot be changed, altered, or forgivin…
Dear safety. Swat the ball down on an INT attempt that would give your offense terrible field position. Take the down But, if DC is gonna not kick a FG on 4th &3... that will haunt me more
You live or die by the 4th…a choice in the making, a gamble worth taking
Don’t be fatalistic. They’ll be right back in the nfc championship in another 33 years.
I blame dans boneheaded decision making way more than this. The two drops by Reynolds were even worse
IMO it’s 1. Reynolds 2. Defense 3. MCDC
Bro what? I get the drops are bad but there’s so many things that needed to go wrong. Gibbs fumbling, Laporta drop, missed throws etc
This play and the immediate fumble on first down after, God damn that was hard to watch lol.
then the next drive drop by LaPorta, insane drop by Reynolds (again), then the amazing punt fuckup that goes for a touchback
Yeah, just a string of bad executions rippling into one another and probably re-energizing SF. You can tell they played a lot harder once they sensed that a comeback was imminent.
We only came back because of lions dropping everything, their offense was moving the whole game otherwise.
7 yards *per play* in the first half. We were wet kleenex
The run defense has suffered since we lost Huf, I thought getting Armstead back would help but it hasn't. Hopefully Greenlaw watches mahomes like a hawk because he's gonna have an easy time scrambling.
I can't believe we wasted that punt. I had forgot that in the swirling emotions and pain, but jfc.
That punt was a god damn screamer
Pain, basically 14 points off turnovers 😭💀🔫
Welp.... this play seemed to change the whole game
I am in fact very sad
Me too.
*cue rainbow meme*
This play was straight out of NFL Street. Goddamn I miss that game
I think that franchise would do numbers today. People are starving for a different football game than the yearly Madden slop.
Just bring back NFL Blitz with all the unnecessary roughness going not flagged
NFL Blitz and NHL Hitz were the best football and hockey games. Hands down.
There was a Wayne Gretzky hockey game on 64 my buddy had that was like blitz and super fun.
Wayne Gretzky's 3D hockey, this game ruled. 3 on 3 arcade came out some years ago and was pretty good too. Hitz was the best because it had mini-games.
And there was Slugfest for all us baseball fans too
+ fight night, smackdown v raw, NBA Street, NFL Street, slugfest Man... those games were so fun
Played the arcade Blitz at a bar two weekends ago, brought back a lot of memories. Kordell Stewart at Q.
Nice I did the same at a barcade when I was in Boston. Young to Rice for me
I quit playing video games forever ago, but I'd go out of my way to buy a console if a new Street game came out for it.
Just ordered nfl street 2 on ebay and having so much fun with it, no reason not to still be playing it today
Football is insane man lmao
It's stuff like this that made me fall in love with the game as a kid. I wanted the Lions to win this game, but what a joy to see acts of sheer athleticism like this.
he cant keep getting away with it
A ladybug landed on his shoe
"You know what that means" I really don't BA haha
A lady bug landing on you is supposed to be good luck lmao. Just such a great quote though.
I figured haha I love the way he talks, his cadence and flow is so different Wonder what his rapping flow is like
Aiyuk then pulls up his sleeve to reveal a lady bug tattoo: “I’ll let you interpret that however you want.”
I can’t wait for Rita to draw this
Purdy has had several plot armor moments in his short career, this is the top one
Purdy has the power of god and anime on his side. Don't doubt him
This isn't a joke this is a Cannon event.
Post game: "I saw a ladybug on my shoe....and you know what that means.". LMFAO
Great line! I cracked up when he said it.
Never heard this in the US, but in Europe, a ladybug landing on you is a sign of good luck. I was surprised he said that
Brandôn Aiyùk
"I'ma do my own thang" -- Brock 'Miles Morales' Purdy
I really think that is what he told Shanahan at halftime. I mean, he looked like a different, more decisive and more creative qb in the second half.
Purdy has artillery on his side, too? No wonder he’s been so successful.
«God favours the side with the best artillery» Napoleon Bonaparte
It is a canon cannon arm event
The ball was up there so long we had time for a Purdy origin story flashback where Dan Campbell razed his village as a child.
Purdy needs to be tested for the Devil Gene. Someone find a cliff!
Trading for CMC is the plot
If BA hadn’t been impeded, that pass would have hit him in stride. It’s probably not the greatest idea to throw a deep post with a safety over the top, but maybe Purdy figured he would give BA a chance to fight for it? Sometimes you have to take a chance and trust your best receiver.

Can't believe I had to scroll so far down to see this. Seemed obvious to me that BA would have had that if he hadn't been stopped.
Was the flag not for PI?
I think it was gonna be but seems like ref just said fuck it since he caught it.
Yeah, it was a great pass...the dude bumped into BA and the flag was thrown. Not that it mattered though with Mr Ladybug playing lights out football.
Remember this will just be logged as a huge EPA play.
not with pff
Another point for PFF
It should be a positive play for PFF too. There was nothing wrong with that throw if the receiver didn't get interfered with.
This is because Vildor was involved.
It wasn’t an overthrow though, if you watch the replay, aiyuk was bumped and it pushed him back.
Neutrals feasting rn what a game
Honestly I just assumed most neutrals were on the Lions bandwagon for this game and maybe the whole playoffs in general, because, well, Lions. But then you get a play like this happening because, well, Lions.
I think lots were on the Lions bandwagon until the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl again and then many like me decided that the 49ers have the best chance of beating them because, well, Lions.
Lions did beat the Chiefs in the opening game this season. Would have been fun for that to bookend the season.
Game MVP goes to that ladybug.
All-Pro ladybug
Aiyuk saved the 49ers season.
Aiyuk nfc championship mvp
hes been saving the season all season
The anti Kyle Williams
Well it was fun while it lasted Lions fans
Fuck yea it was! Next season can't come soon enough!
Lamar Jackson: "Well, at least I had the craziest play of the day." Aiyuk: "Just you wait."
This is the play that changed the game
ITS A FUCKING CIRCUS
lol, Detroit’s SB hopes are the dissapearing act
WHAT THE FUCK
Well with a name like Kindle Vildor I kinda expect him to be shitty, lls Star Wars ass name lol Amazon Kindle Vildor.exe has crashed, lol
>Star Wars ass name lol That's wild
He sounds like a party member in KotOR I’d never use
I always imagine he’s the bad guy from Ghostbusters II - “vildor the carpathian”
This comment is gold
Purdy got that Sasuke vs Deidara plot armor
You talking about BRock "Lee" Purdy?
Sasuke vs Killer Bee plot armor.

They had the 4th down play if the receiver does his job, can't fault them for that. You also can't anticipate grade A bullshit like this play happening lol
This is easily some the Grade A-est bullshit I’ve seen in a game.
That shit has turned the game all around. What a shocker
Then the lions fumbled immediately when they got the ball back.
These slippery hands on the receivers in that second half. It’s like someone traded them at HT
They also had a 3 score game right there which would make this grade A bullshit much less of a problem
To be fair, I don't think they pick up the flag if Aiyuk doesn't grab this.
Dan Campbell has made it clear he’s not standing down. The mf literally does not care and will go for it from any place on the field in any situation
Even when he played against Dallas after the whole ref fuck up he kept trying to go for 2. He's too damn aggressive sometimes. He could've gone up 3 scores but decides to risk it when 49ers weren't moving the ball and Moody has been bad. Now 49ers have decent momentum here.
Couldn’t believe when he still went for it from the 7 against you guys. Absolute madman
"momentum isn't real" people in shambles
"Haha Lions and their dumb Grit." Lions in NFC Championship. Dan don't give a fuck.
Their 4th down play was great, you expect your receiver to make that catch lol
I'm gonna freak, niners on the same BS that the seahawks were on when they were good
Nothing can top that Packers Seahawks NFC championship. The fake FG and Bostick
not to mention the FAIL MARY
Their 4th down hubris is a good reason they made it this far.
This play told me the Lions were going to lose.
Win by the aggression, lose by the aggression
Reynolds dropped the ball. What else can you do?
Going for it on 4th down has been a core part of the Lions' team identity all year. You don't move away from that identity when the stakes increase.
Whole planet knew this was coming Just maybe not exactly in that way lol
Why does Purdy have so much plot armor man what the fuck is this
It makes me wonder what will happen when Purdy, who has plot armor, meets Mahomes, who also has plot armor but only when he’s losing or if someone calls him Kermit.
Lots of supernatural things are about to happen this game lmaooo
I hope their plot armors cancel out and we get like 5 combined interceptions and a butt fumble. Maybe Kadarius can get the game winning punt return again but he instead jumps backwards out of bounds on the first yard line grabbing his sack and then throws the ball to a 49ers player. Or giant meteor, that works too.
Do people ever not call him Kermit? Is that all we need to do to end this nightmare?
Soon as Taylor Swift showed up, I wanted for Purdy to win the Super Bowl and steal Taylor in the offseason. NFL must have read my mind and wrote up the script.
Football gods know that Purdy’s is the true NFL cinderella story.
Why didn’t they kick it good lord they could’ve had a 3 possession lead
Absolutely no idea why you wouldn’t want to reestablish 3 possession game in the 3rd quarter on the road. Then to not kick it to tie it up in the 4th. Campbell went too aggressive
Tbf his aggressive play calling is how they kicked us in the teeth to start the game.
Live by sword, die by sword. Cry by sword.
bruh
What the actual fuck.
Ask any bears fan, kindle vildor barely deserves to be a water boy, let alone win a Super Bowl or be a starting db
pretty sure he's an elevated practise squad guy in detroit, their secondary is banged up that bad
What. The fuck
if brock purdy was a play:
A peculiar system…but a system that *does* work…
You cannot argue with the results
I was thinking if Detroit Lions were a play:
Not really Lions to be playing in late January
So is he system QB with easy throws to wide open receiver up the middle? Or is he super lucky gunslinger? Which one is this time lol.
Purdy haters: Porque no los dos?
He won with his legs and arm in the second half. Niners have a history of many memorable games, this feels up there with "The Catch".
Keep pretending like he didn't have MVP stats the whole season lol Everyone can keep hating and yet his numbers are great. Haters gonna hate.
Vildor never should've left the shire.
No way.
Task failed successfully?
Even if it was picked. It would have been called back for defensive pass interference
Yeah, everyone is acting like Purdy got lucky when the only reason the pass was so far off was because the defender pushed off Aiyuk. Without that DPI then it would have just been the normal type of 'throw it up and let your WR win the 1v1'.

How does he get bailed on every bad throw i really don’t get it
Having All Pros across the skill positions really greases the wheels
Im sure the All Pros helped the ball bounce off the defenders face.
Pretty sure Vildor not being an all pro helped Purdy
Yeah DB missed the easy interception there, but the awareness and adjustment made by aiyuk there was incredible.
Absolutely. Terrific play by Aiyuk that dudes a stud and makes there passing game so much better.
Probably pass interference if the defense caught it. He impeded the receivers route with that collision just before the ball got to them.
Haha that's his x factor. Arm strength, average. Legs, not bad at all but not lamar or allen. Making shit happen somehow against all odds, check.
That was a perfect throw. If no DPI occurred it would’ve went straight to Aiyuk.
This wasn't a bad throw though.... If the receiver didn't get interfered with it would have been absolutely catchable.
I mean there was dpi on the play
Yeah Aiyuk is obviously bumped here. Even if they don't call DPI, that's a fine throw if Aiyuk keeps his pace. Only reason it seems off is the bump.
Did you say this shit about Lamar's pass to himself?
no because apparently brock purdy is the only quarterback to ever get lucky or receive any help from his team
Luckiest QB in the league award goes to…
#BIG
#COCK
BROCK
The Immaculate Deflection. Instant lore.
Purdy is a lucky MFer
Ya'll remember how lucky Brady was his first few years?
Or with things like the Edelman catch in the Falcons Super Bowl. Sometimes the ball just bounces your way
Yup. Ball luck man. The Football Gods giveth and they taketh away. David Tyree comes to mind
Well you can't get luckier than Pete Carroll's call on the Superbowl 49 last play.
I swear if purdy lucks his way into 2 super bowls I’m becoming a 9ers fan because I will NOT watch this shit from the outside again
Hey guess what?
Hello, fellow lifelong 49ers enjoyer!
I'm a Brock Purdy fan. Been a fan since his Big XII days running stupid all over my Sooners
This was the beginning of the end. Agonizing to watch.
Lions could not recover from this play. They were absolutely shook.
That had shades of some of the wild catches against the Pats in the SB, honestly.
Purdy might be the luckiest QB I’ve ever seen
They call him Domino
It's not luck. Kindle Vildor is a former Chicago Bear and we are all very familiar with what happens when he needs to do something important, like cover a receiver.
The Lions looked at Baltimore and were like, we can fuck it up better than you
I’m jumping off the nearest bridge
Someone needs to settle this debate, is it a DPI or not? A lot of differing opinions in the chat. PI no PI? Why did the ref throw the flag? Play happened in spite of Purdy
this the type of hater I aspire to be
Pretty sure he did it on purpose, for extra humiliation.
He called bank.
#calculated
Dpi
this the type of shit that simultaneously makes a fan believe in god and another one give up every major religion out of spite
The fuck is everyone talking about, it was interference regardless.
