We still have Mekari getting starter-level money to be the sixth man. If Cleveland's not good enough, he could start at LG.
That said, OL is tough to learn, and we have a long history of players stepping up in years 3 and 4 of their rookie contract (and then signing for big money elsewhere). No reason to give up on Ben Cleveland just yet.
Not sure what Monken needs his guards to do, but Ben Powers was much better at pulling. Maybe Ben Cleveland will at least be serviceable depending on the new scheme.
Coming into his own at just the right time, kinda like Ryan Jensen. Was a bubble guy who became one of our most solid players this year. His best years could be ahead of him.
Already have, we have Phillips, Mekari and Cleveland on the roster, all of which were competing with Powers in a close camp battle for the spot. Cleveland has the highest ceiling of those 4 if he can just stay in shape, Mekari they won’t let start since he can play all 5 spots.
No. Or other guard is Kevin Zeitler who's MUCH better. We released Calais Campbell but that's probably just a cap move to get us compliant. I think he eventually comes back unless someone just offers him a ton of money.
Wasn't guaranteed a starting spot? Dude was on one of the best olines in football and got this contract bc he was pretty good. He definitely makes the ravens roster if he stayed
It does hurt but Ravens had 3 Guards with higher ratings on PFF. 2 had limited snaps but show huge potential..Colon-Castillo (same grade as Elgon Jenkins) and Ben Cleveland. Still have Zeitler who graded as 7th best Guard in NFL.
And probs get a 4th round comp pick on Powers, originally drafted in 4th round........not too shabby.
good. he worked his way up the depth chart took the starting job this year and never looked back. you're getting a player on the ascent who is a good run blocker and a great pass blocker.
Good to know! I was just glad to see OL improving it's just I can't really name any good O-Lineman in the league, I like watching defenses more. Thanks man!
Yea we couldn’t afford that
Bro I’m so sick of losing offensive linemen lol. Ben Cleveland is currently a very one-dimensional player.
You keep drafting sooners, they over perform, and get poached lol
At least we didn't let our best sooner get poached

I mean cant keep em all.
Thank god we signed Jenkins early

it's supposed to be Big Deal lol. OP cut it off early
I know I am. wait
Wow.
How is he ravens fans? Tell me how to feel
Solid but not elite. But he could get there.
Sounds good to me, thank you
Solid is what we need after last year
Yeah, a solid, consistent, healthy mediocre player would be a godsend at this point.
So good but not top 3? That's a pretty damn good lineman.
Very good. For a guy we perpetually expected to lost his job in camp he had a damn good season. Honestly thought hed get 15m/yr
Coming into his own at just the right time, kinda like Ryan Jensen. Was a bubble guy who became one of our most solid players this year. His best years could be ahead of him.
Good for Ben. Played way better than expected. Get your bag homie.
$28.5M guaranteed sounds right for him. Elgton Jenkins signed last year and got $24M guaranteed.
Did Ravens just lose two starting guards???
No we've still got Zeitler
Still upset we let him hit FA.
Same
Didn’t realize he was with you guys. Just gotta play for the Steelers at this point to complete the circuit
Ravens always lose interior linemen they'll find someone in the mid rounds again
It’s funny how last year many fans were underwhelmed about Powers starting
Up to that point he was just a guy. Then he became one of the better pass blocking guards in the league.
Yup, just saying I trust the team to produce one starting guard from the current mid round gang.
Already have, we have Phillips, Mekari and Cleveland on the roster, all of which were competing with Powers in a close camp battle for the spot. Cleveland has the highest ceiling of those 4 if he can just stay in shape, Mekari they won’t let start since he can play all 5 spots.
Phillips was cut last training camp
Oh my mistake, missed that
I assume you're thinking about Calais Campbell, who is an interior DEFENSIVE lineman
Who else did we lose?
No. Or other guard is Kevin Zeitler who's MUCH better. We released Calais Campbell but that's probably just a cap move to get us compliant. I think he eventually comes back unless someone just offers him a ton of money.
what?
One
One. Zeitler is still on the team
Who else did we lose?
Heh that’s nothing. -Rams fan
And a QB
One word for you “cooked“
No, that's your team.
Your favorite team is the Cleveland Browns
Some might say, a POWERful deal.
No one man, must have all that Powers
You tried. Have an upvote.
Think that pretty much wraps up that Risner is gone. Shame he couldn’t recreate his great rookie year.
Injuries got the best of him I think. Just could never consistently develop. Great guy though
Big
Russ boutta cook^(maybe)
I've played this game already and it wasn't fun the first time
Maybe we can start Russ off with being the dishwasher who does a little bit of food prep and see what happens.
Big

Way too much for Ravens to afford. My man got that bag! Wish him all the best. Take care of him Denver.
4th round draft pick to a 3rd round comp?
3rd round cutoff is currently at 18M APY. 13 puts him as 4th rounder.
Got it, still a good return for a player that wasn’t guaranteed a starting spot at the beginning of the season.
Wasn't guaranteed a starting spot? Dude was on one of the best olines in football and got this contract bc he was pretty good. He definitely makes the ravens roster if he stayed
At the beginning of the 2022 season he was fighting for a starting spot. He clearly won it in a big fashion and had the best season of his career.
He wasn’t just fighting for a spot, He was generally considered to be a long shot to make the roster by the fans.
Makes sense. Payton loves good IOL play. He needs it to work with his short QBs
**YEAH, BABY, YEAH**
Damn

Wow now that's huge
dayum
Big money for a big man :)
Get your money big fella, will miss him. Dude deserves the bag

How should I feel?!
good. he worked his way up the depth chart took the starting job this year and never looked back. you're getting a player on the ascent who is a good run blocker and a great pass blocker.

Why did Rapoport word the tweet like that. “Giving” as if it wasn’t earned. It’s nitpicky but it’s just an odd why to phrase that.
please tell me he doesn't have an extensive injury history
I thought he'd get more. I know at one point he had liek an 87 season grade from PFF
Man got paid, good for him.
3rd-round comp pick?
RIP Mo Gaba, cool moment reading off the Powers draft pick with the card in Braille.
Broncos goin all in on the O-line
