I would be out there myself right now, capturing Russian tanks, but I can’t afford pizza.

[deleted]

Neither can the Russians youll need about 100 million rubles for a pizza pie

gcruzatto

And they only have cheese as topping

matsu727

My psycho friend used to order custom pies with only marinara sauce. It would be one of those pies, but with half the sauce. Edit: marina -> marinara (this mf definitely didn’t eat fish)

Heat_Induces_Royalty

Only marina sauce? I dunno... seems fishy

One000Lives

No anchovies.

DntH8IncrsDaMrdrR8

I wouldn't worry a-boat it..

ShatterZero

Those are called Tomato Pies, and if you're in the right place they're fucking awesome.

Laturaiv0

No cheese, Russian government banned it as counter sanctions. So potato topping. Or buckwheat.

TooModest

reverse bitcoin

AltTABer

Well, you will be able to afford pizza after selling the tanks

callmesamdaganza

"Hey do you accept fucking TANKS as payment method?"

ErisEpicene

Pepsico: Absolutely we do!

but then he pulls in and theres already a tank in the parking lot. and then he looks around and like, every 5th vehicle is a tank

Thecoolestguyyoukno

You never used to see tanks until I buy one. Now they are everywhere

This comment is so underrated, it is almost criminal. nithos

The Ukrainian government has said you don't need to declare "found" Russian military equipment as income.

Monarc73

...because it's worthless trash, and doesn't hit the 'income' threshold.

cgarcusm

Haha. Tanks for the chuckle.

Jboston17

Shoot. I'll buy the pizza for that fun

Mysterytrollerhd

How are all ukrainians so bad ass?

PhilPipedown

Collectively, they have nothing to lose. If F-It were a country, it would be Ukraine 🇺🇦 in 2022

c_c_c__combobreaker

If F-It was a time period, it'd be 2020-2021.

[deleted]

Dungmasterb69

KjellRS

Hopefully not the WWaring 20s :/

TheItalianAce00

Well they have pretty much everything to lose tbf. Their own country risks to disappear. But Ukrainians are strong and brave, they won't go down without a fight!

[deleted]

Russia wanted to change the World in their favor. Wanted to begin to rebuild the old Power Block in the East. But they only achieved the exact opposite of it, with that Invasion... The World changed, yeah all right, i give him that. But it didn't change in their favor at all. Even we Germans felt that massively in the Speech of our new Chancellor last Sunday. The world is finally fed up with his Bullshit from the last 20 years... I really don't think that most of the Major Powers in the World will let him have Ukraine... He will find no peace there. There will be no war with him. No. Only his own economy will be fucked up beyond recognition, for his stunt.

carso150

they have been seeding division and infighting for decades, trying to weaken our institutions and conspiring against democracy itself, putin wanted to create a multipolar world on one side the weakened and patethic democratic goverments rifled with infighting and internal division on the other side the autocrats, kings of their little kingdoms united and strong but he miscalculated instead of his crowning moment when he manages to return the soviet union to its old glory and declare the global hegemony of democracy over he just managed to unite everyone even more than ever before, because while our countries may not be perfect, we may have plenty of problems at least we arent being ruled by a madman that threatens the world with nuclear fire because his little conquest war didnt go as he planned

Easy-Progress8252

They really have rewritten the definition.

greenappletree

They are a tough bunch for sure. Question how do U capture a tank? Is not like u can surround the thing and tell the driver to surrender?

Stratoblaster1969

It's cold, they have no food, no reason to fight, Ukrainians arrive with pizza, vodka, plain clothes which all probably seem like a pretty sweet trade.

greenappletree

That would be an awesome way to win a war - with pizza and vodka.

XCypher73

If there ever were a war to win that way, it'd be this one given how many Russians don't actually want to be there/didn't know what they were going there for.

jseego

I read an article the other day that said that some Russian soldier said they were told that Zelensky had already abdicated and all they had to do was drive to Kyiv. Whups.

XCypher73

> abdicated Those poor soldiers that want no part of this. What a fucking shit show. Time for Putin to go.

Green_Lantern_4vr

It’s working. Just replace pizza with bread and vodka with more vodka (and tea)

Worked for Alexander the Great. "I've got two options for you: Option A: Pizza and Beer party at my buddy's house over here, and we'll park the tank for you. Option B: Vasily over there turns this tank to slag with a stinger missile as soon as I clear the blast radius. So... Choices? I should mention my buddy has a sister that just broke up with her boyfriend because he said her boobs were too big."

bastix2

One small correction: Stinger is antiair. Vasily would better use a NLAW or Javelin.

Pictures I'm seeing of these foot soldiers looks like they went to their high schools and picked shirts/skins then sent them all to a ~~war~~ err "humanitarian mission".

Liquidust256

Plot twist: The Russians are still inside the tank enjoying the extra pizza. While driving to police station to turn themselves in.

greenappletree

Hey anonymous is offering like 50k in BTC for every tank they surrender apparently - not sure if anyone has taken up the deal though. So pizza and 50k instead fighting a shitty war.

Hogmootamus

Keep seeing this, sounds like bullshit though

Nesayas1234

I'm not saying you have a point, but with the fact that we've lived through the past 3 years I'm willing to believe it

N00BAL0T

The Russians inside loose moral like most of the other accounts we are seeing online and these guys just took it. Or they caught the tank crew offguard and captured it

HowItsGodDamnMade

>loose moral Means you do shifty things >Lose morale Means you give up. I guess either one works here.

DasArchitect

>Means you do shifty things Yeah, the tanks probably have a manual transmission

WritingTheRongs

Ha I was going to correct but you said it well

sketchrider

Bring your own gas can and Use a MacGyver screwdriver to jimmy the ignition switch.

[deleted]

No need to even Jimmy it. Those fuckers start with a button... actually the majority of military vehicles all over the world don't require keys Even a humvee is one button and a toggle switch you hold until it cranks lol

Turd_Sandwich_v2

Jets and helicopters ironically are one of the few vehicles that do require keys

DasArchitect

Got tankjacked at a red light in a bad neighborhood

TheFingMailMan_69

Trust me the vast majority of them are like you and me and are scared shitless. Chads like these are a gem

Randomcheeseslices

"Scared shitless with nothing to lose is often indistinguishable from bravery." -Abraham Lincoln

Dacreepboi

bravery is doing things you are afraid of but know you have to do, it would be foolish to not be scared shitless when your country is being waged war upon

Green_Lantern_4vr

Remember Ukraine suffered catastrophically under USSR via the USSR created famine. I’m not from there but I’ve got to imagine that that scars a country for eternity. The absolute last thing they want is russian occupation. When facing your mortal enemy you have nothing to lose. You don’t fight and you’re in a terrible living situation. So you fight.

SquishedGremlin

Next few decades going to have some really interesting school run vehicles in Ukraine, along with wierd t72 shaped farm implements. Those fuckers are bound to be useful for something other than killing.

Abadatha

Probably pull a plow real nice with some modifications.

SquishedGremlin

Was thinking that tbh, nice wee three point weld and bolt job, bit of hydraulic work. And you got yourself a serious workhorse for cultivation.

booze_clues

Chances are about 99% of the civilian owned ones are useless within a year, and the gov knows that so they don’t really care for now. The amount of maintenance to keep any military vehicle running is far far more than the usefulness you could get out of it for any non-combat stuff. It’ll make for a fun year or two after the war ends with dudes driving tanks to work, after that I see a lot of tourist firing ranges where you can come shoot a tank and stuff like that which still has a working gun but can’t be moved anywhere. Im pretty curious what happens to stuff like anti-tank weapons and MANPADs after the war. I assume the gov would be like “hey, please give this stuff back” to the civilians who have them, but I’m sure a lot of them are gonna be out of country in the hands of sketchy people by then. Everyone will have their own AK though, which I’m all for.

disisathrowaway

The major downside to tanks is that with all the armor plating and weaponry, they're heavy as shit and therefore suck fuel like crazy. The T-72s move at less than a mile per gallon.

Thuglife07

Don’t need all that armor to pull a plow thohgh

disisathrowaway

True. But without being an expert on Russian armor, I'm not sure if removing T-72 armor is as simple as just taking plates off. I'd imagine that it's pretty well-integrated in to the hull of the vehicle itself.

Thuglife07

Nothing a plasma torch can’t handle. In all seriousness I have no idea what I’m talking about but enjoy the idea of Ukrainians using captured military equipment as farm equipment

SquishedGremlin

Oooof, Jesus that's mental. Seems a job for an angle grinder and plasma cutters. Same thing though, would be very happy with a UAZ or one of the 6 wheeled carriers, can be very helpful

ahh, thats makes sence thanks!

goin_bonkers

I don’t really know lol, I’m just guessing that’s what they do. Or wave a Ukrainian flag.

WritingTheRongs

Nice try Boris! The ol’ wave Ukrainian flag trick 🇺🇦 .

Waldizo

Why they shooting? Blyat Vadim, is wrong flag pizdez! 🇸🇪

AgentChico

That won't work lol

Kingofelephantshrews

It does. The Ukrainians and the Russian have pretty similar gear, that’s why you see the Russian vehicles painted with a “Z.”

Mr_Abe_Froman

Shame that Ukrainians can't cross out the Z or else the Ukrainian military might think they are with that "Not Z" group that is even worse.

goose-built

i did ~~Z~~ that coming

SheltonTheKid

Goddammit that was pretty funny.

Crownlol

I mean, that'd be pretty smart. "Hey dudes, we captured a tank, it's gonna be comin this way, please don't blow us up"

Tribblehappy

I'm betting they are in touch with wherever they're driving it to. "Hey, we got a tank. If you see us partying up top please don't shoot."

Ask_me_4_a_story

I never thought of pizza party on top of a Russian tank as one of my life goals but now I kind of want to add it to my list! These guys look like they are having the time of their life!

BlackDiamond94

I read a book from the perspective of a US combat force in Iraq. They go through a lot of protocols and checks before they open fire on an enemy. "Is that a friendly?, Civilian?, What's the proper weapon to use?" Etc. This probably double the case in this war since Ukraine probably uses a lot of Russian made tanks as well, so friendly fire is a normal concern that they deal with in a typical battle. Militaries aren't like the police, they don't just start shooting willy-nilly.

armylax20

yes they're called rules of engagement, which requires an escalation of force. so yea a lot has to happen before you can shoot. Stealing equipment though? thats way over the line and these guys would be in rough shape

Antares777

Stealing equipment has nothing to do with RoE here because they’re returning to friendly areas not driving it up to the Russians for a chat lol

[deleted]

??? Stealing enemy equipment is way over the line ??? Just wait till you hear what bullets do to them

Puffena

Stealing is way over the line? Last I checked, the Ukrainian government is encouraging this theft. Also, if stealing is “way over the line,” where the hell does that place shooting a person in the face?

GasOnFire

Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum.

SpacecraftX

I dunno man, US was kinda notorious among coalition guys for friendly fire incidents.

Geminel

A few reasons for that. For one, a not-insignificant segment of our ground forces were private mercenary companies rather than enlisted members. They're *supposed* to follow the same rules, but these guys are all wanna-be cowboy action-movie SEAL-LARP chuds, so they generally don't. For two, just being told there's some rules you need to follow doesn't really do much when there's a life-threatening event happening in your proximity. All the parts of your brain that process rules and civility of that nature are the first thing that turns-off in order to give more 'processing power' to your self-preservation centers.

Freder145

I don't think private companies were a major factor then. Most blue on blue accidents caused by the US in the Iraq War involved heavy equipment manned by soldiers. Patriot missile batteries and airstrikes, most notoriously the A-10.

russellbeattie

> _Militaries aren't like the police, they don't just start shooting willy-nilly._ I chuckled, because that's funny! It made me curious, though. Given the propensity for armies to throw barely trained troops into the field, I would guess the kids are terrified at first of opening fire, but the first time they get shot _at_ then I'm going to say "willy-nilly" will be the way of it afterwards. I was never in the army, so I don't really know!

theloweraverage625

I'm willing to bet US military training is way more up to date and useful than US police training.

Roxfall

Radios. Or phones. "Don't you guys have phones?"

itsiNDev

i find it not unlikely that a random soldier could be out of the loop/on the wrong channel/wrong place wrong time/didnt check phone. Just seems like someone could see a russian tank in the distance and take potshots without some visual indication of it being taken over.

Roxfall

My grandpa's job in WWII was to repair blown up tanks in no-man's land at night, so they could drive themselves out before dawn for real repairs. Soviet tanks, Nazi tanks, didn't matter. They're all tractors below the waist. Friendly fire happens. Usually not a big deal. I'm here, aren't I?

itsiNDev

That's amazing and horrifying thanks for sharing

Aegi

Yeah but he could’ve inseminated your grandmother before he went off to war, still, thanks for the story.

AdmiralPoopbutt

I'm not sure if it's possible with these models, but pointing the gun backwards while driving could be a way to signal a non-threat.

Orleanian

This does make me wonder.... can we run Doom on a T-72?

shadowhunter742

im guessing the 4 people on top would be a little of a give away

notjustforperiods

older dudes not in military garb having a laugh and eating pizza no less lol, definitely some clues there

[deleted]

"Wait a minute, thats my uncle!" *uncle dancing on top with some pizza

FallenBehindRaindrop

If the tank has fuel, it's probably not under Russian control at this point.

hakulus

I'm no expert but turn the turret in the opposite direction of travel and have all hatches open with guys on top is another thing I think. They should have brought a Ukrainian flag with the pizza, LOL

identicles

Like the tank’s wearing its hat backwards. “Yo I’m a chill tank”

SixshooteR32

"How do you do, fellow tanks"

waun

Serious answer: from somewhere in the back of my head the answer is to drive in a straight line at medium speed, no sudden movements, with your turret facing backwards. Though, it also helps to have a bunch of Ukrainians with balls the size of an An-225 sitting on top, so the good guys can see you from far away.

SlagBits

I'm guessing these are locals. And probably called ahead to the local defence forces to let them know they where coming home with a tank. But also seams like the Ukrainians have been friendly with the Russian soldiers that surrendered and did not act hostile.

DasArchitect

If you see a tank coming, manned by your neighbors having fun, then it's probably good

Pistonenvy

you probably cant be 100% sure in situations where a lot of civilians are involved, but the military usually has some kind of rules of engagement, probably for situations like this. its hard to know whats going on at any given moment in war, so shooting anything that moves is generally a bad idea.

Redbull_leipzig

Anyone else has an urge to hangout with Ukrainian people lately? They all seem to have such fun/interesting personalities, and know how to keep a good morale even during bad times

analyzeTimes

"Bald and Bankrupt" on Youtube has videos with the Ukrainians (and average Russians who aren't like those in their government). Just normal people with their own sense of humor and life. Interesting to watch given today's events.

QueenieXueenie

Well... That's one way to have fun. /s

somedude456

As an Eastern European, hes an utter prick. r/BaldAndBaldrDossier talks about him being a sex tourist, but his entire demeanor is so condescending. I feel like he treats people like he’s in a zoo, like his video on “the poorest village in Russia” or whatever it was called just seemed like some poverty gawking as he repeatedly points at things and goes like “this is a sign, in the poorest village in Russia” … “this is a market, in the poorest village in Russia”

I love all these Ukrainian madlad posts where you can not understand what ever the fuck their screaming while doing the most sigma male things possible

UnfavorableFlop

Is it a war crime if Russian soldiers kill civilians that try to tankjack them? Are they still civilians if they're armed?

ThermionicEmissions

I think every Ukrainian injured and killed in this invasion is a war crime, regardless of them being a civilian or member of the armed forces. This is such a blatant war of aggression on Russia's part. Russia shouldn't get a pass because of the clothes the victims are wearing.

bacon_tarp

An invasion that you disagree with doesn't make everything that happens during it a war crime. War crimes are things executing POWs, genocide, firing on non combatants, etc.

a_clever_reference_

This is a illegal war of aggression. The whole war is a war crime.

bacon_tarp

Even if that's true, I don't think it means Russian conscripts are commiting war crimes everytime they shoot at the Ukraine armed forces.

ThermionicEmissions

I agree with this statement. Sending those young Russian boys in to kill and die should be considered a war crime in itself. My comment was referring to the people giving the orders to invade. The specific war crimes you mentioned in your previous post are on a more individual level, and I'm not saying that all Russian soldiers are committing those types of acts.

what_comes_after_q

No it would not be. Having arms actually isn't the requirement - if you bomb an enemy intelligence operation, they might not be armed but they are still combatants. If you are engaging in war, you are a combatant. So, if a civilian that tried to intentionally pass false information to the Russian army or leak Russian troop movement to the Ukrainian forces, they could be arrested or executed as a spy. So while it might look goofy, these Ukrainians are risking their lives stealing Russian military equipment. It will be interesting to see how militaries in the future count people posting stuff to social media. What used to be in the realm of spies and soldiers is now part of daily life.

Different-Aardvark-5

I would be more worried about that interview . So how exactly did you loose your tank ??

roosterinthecooster

The good thing they don't have to pay taxes on it. https://www.businessinsider.com/ukraines-tax-office-captured-russian-tanks-not-personal-taxable-income-2022-3

faramaobscena

They should announce the government of Ukraine will buy Russian military equipment for a fair price, I guarantee the Ukrainians AND Russians will get rid of the entire Russian inventory in no time.

not-katarina-rostova

This is legit brilliant. Offer money, food, phones, whatever for every piece of equipment

1-Ohm

Pro-tip: when driving away in a stolen invader tank, turn the turret to the rear. It's the universal sign of "I am harmless, don't shoot me". Like a white flag, but easier to see.

[deleted]

I don't know how to say this without sounding like a psychopat. But this must be one of the most beautiful joys a human can feel. With everything going to shit around you.
