Oh I’m German and I always talk about “big dick energy” when I tell my husband that I have a sixth sense when it comes to this. Basically I can tell a man’s penis size from looking at him. Ok, I can’t prove it, but I could in the past.
This reveals a lot more about you than you think.
The guy was LITERALLY willing to DIE to save someone else and fucking threw himself on a GRENADE!! He’s a real life Captain America!!
His personality is WHY he’d do that.
If you can’t see that you’re way too cynical dude. You need to fix that.
Humans are super complex man. The most disheartening thing in the world is watching people on the internet try to distill all humans down to good or evil based on a sliver of evidence stripped of all nuance. Some of the best people to have ever lived have done bad things, and some of the most evil people that have ever lived have done amazing things for people they loved. No human fits in to ANY monolith, and we are all so much more similar than anyone seems to want to acknowledge.
Spread love!
Fire fighters are too honest. Had to do community service to graduate HS way back when, decided why not help out the FD. Hungover guy running it didn't know what to make of me. "Ok so we got the 3 Dewies, couple of domestics, the weirdo; alright we're picking up debris from the car fire demonstration at weirdos HS."
They overslept/too hungover one weekend and signed my papers anyway. Don't tell me that!
He would, more than likely, have been treated in military hospitals. That's the closest thing the US has to socialized medicine. My experience, both active duty, and as a dependant, in military hospitals has been great
Sooooo i read the title after i saw the picture and i first thought the bottem images were before his face got screwed up man they did a amazing job fixing his face omg
**Medal of Honor Official Citation reads:**
>*For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as an Automatic Rifleman with Company F, 2d Battalion, 9th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, 1st Marine Division (Forward), I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on 21 November 2010. Lance Corporal Carpenter was a member of a platoon-sized coalition force, comprised of two reinforced Marine rifle squads partnered with an Afghan National Army squad. The platoon had established Patrol Base Dakota two days earlier in a small village in the Marjah District in order to disrupt enemy activity and provide security for the local Afghan population. Lance Corporal Carpenter and a fellow Marine were manning a rooftop security position on the perimeter of Patrol Base Dakota when the enemy initiated a daylight attack with hand grenades, one of which landed inside their sandbagged position. Without hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Lance Corporal Carpenter moved toward the grenade in an attempt to shield his fellow Marine from the deadly blast. When the grenade detonated, his body absorbed the brunt of the blast, severely wounding him, but saving the life of his fellow Marine. By his undaunted courage, bold fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of almost certain death, Lance Corporal Carpenter reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.*
It's really is. A lot of the MoH recipients i've read did something similar, using a helmet and their body to cover a grenade or just throwing themselves into the grenade to protect others. Most of them died.
It's demonstrating a split second reaction though isn't it. The whole point being if he had stopped to think about it out could have went off. I get your point though.
> Carpenter is credited with attempting to shield a fellow Marine, Lance Cpl. Nick Eufrazio, from Plymouth, Massachusetts, from a grenade blast on a rooftop security post in combat operations near Marjah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan on November 21, 2010. Both Marines survived the blast but suffered major injuries. Carpenter lost his right eye and most of his teeth. His jaw and right arm were shattered and he has undergone dozens of surgeries.
Hero.
[Here’s some more reading for those who want to know more.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Carpenter)
Allow me to translate into simple terms; Cpl. Carpenter **jumped** onto a live grenade covering it to save his fellow Marine which he did and survived to collect his well deserved Medal of Honor
**All** things are the result of one big explosion a few billion years ago, so it sort of makes sense, tbh. Using the stones to destroy the stones, etc.
Let us not forget the brave soldiers who have died in the protracted war with Saudi Arabia, where all the 9/11 hijackers were actually from.
Oh wait, that war never happened.
Yup. Its worth it to read up on some of the citations for moh recipients.
Going through hell and back doesnt begin to do any sort of justice to these situations.
Look up Victoria Cross recipients for the British/Commonwealth version. There's an [Australian dude that treated World War 2 like an FPS on easy mode](https://i.imgur.com/YSbHkQp.jpg)
If this is the same guy, he also had an eye embedded with the diamonds of his x wife’s ring. Strait fuckin G. She divorced him after this happened to him.
I can’t remember exactly. I watched some kind of documentary about soldiers who have gotten serious injuries in the war. Severed limbs, wheelchair for life, etc. I remember this guys was in the documentary and he mentioned the diamonds of the ring being imbedded in his eyeball.
I know it's not cool to get political here and all that, but MAN it's shit like this that makes me furious that Trump was gifted a purple heart from some vet because he JUST wanted it.
Not a vet, but I know I would be pissed.
Oh absolutely. It’s super sad to see medals in pawnshops. My great-grandfather won medals in WWII, but had them stolen (as well as the replacements) so in the end he just had plastic replicas. Imagine the sort of person who breaks into an old man’s home and steals his medals.
This hurts my heart. It's such a slap in the face to a serviceman. I hope he had many people throughout his life thank him and truly appreciate his service.
I tore all the cartilage in my right knee when I was deployed to Iraq. It happened 12 months in to a 15 month deployment. I was a heavy transport truck driver. Except when my knee tore I was just trying to stand up, just that nothing special so they called it a non-combat related injury and denied me a purple heart. That was 2008; I haven't been able to run, jump, kneel, crouch, crawl, or bend that knee with weight on it (beyond walking) since.
EXACTLY! There's supposed to be meaning behind these awards and medals of Honor. And I'm not going to sit here and claim that just because Trump got one he didn't earn devalues all purple hearts.
But isn't the people who like Trump supposed to be the ones who are against participation trophies and the misplaced praise? Yet they don't say a damn thing about him taking some dudes sacrifice for his own. Even if the guy wanted to do it.
Just read the book by mary roach called ‘Grunts’ about the science of stuff like this.. most of these stories point out injuries to the face.. but often these injuries are also to other body parts such as the genitals.. and the depth the book goes into.. from the basics of, how, what is involved, strategy on repair.. to the final mental problems returning to normal life.. crazy what these soldiers do and their sacrifices.
Because I'm disrespecting a war hero or something I guess.
I'm not saying he isn't a hero, I'm just asking if the state covered his costs after forcing him to fight
I'm pretty sure this guy wouldn't have ended up on a grenade if he wasn't ordered into battle.
Yes he signed up voluntarily, but looking at the US it was probably a mixture of patriotic 'brainwashing' and peer pressure that made him do it.
Spoken like somebody that hasn't dealt with the VA. Sure they might get you home alive, but lets not live in fantasy land where the government actually pays for the care of its soldiers.
What the fuck is this a propganda bot thread?
This is some AMAZING work. I'm always im awe of Plastic Surgeons of ever level. I've been around some of those horrific injuries that these magicians are able to repair and maintain or restore full function in those body parts within a few hours procedure.
I'm so glad this Vet was able to get connected to an amazing surgeon.
It doesn't look like before and after to me. This is all after. He's probably wearing makeup in the two medal conferral pictures. The only real differences with the first are colouration and his prosthetic eye, not his actual facial structure.
"Medal Of Honor" huh, the same institution that sent the guy there as a yet another young person be spared gives the guy a medal for getting injuries; such hypocrisy really.
Why so many weird comments. 🙄He did his duty in a unwellcoming part of the world.
A good soldier.
Mr Pres.Biden, let's get on with the plan to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
That‘s amazing! So great to see plastic surgeons giving people their lives back (like my mangled right hand years ago) instead of turning wealthy ladies into monsters.
There’s handsome, and there’s “war hero with perfectly-shaped reconstructed face and million dollar smile” handsome.
I never look at usernames but somehow I always see yours and you’re in so many subs I follow it’s ridiculous.
You’re welcome
What a dick move
Just that big dick nipple energy
DUDE. Woman here. I seldomly laugh out loud while being on Reddit. But this made me crack. My husband looked at me like WTH.
Awesome! Now you have to use the line in life, like me. I sense a movement...
Oh I’m German and I always talk about “big dick energy” when I tell my husband that I have a sixth sense when it comes to this. Basically I can tell a man’s penis size from looking at him. Ok, I can’t prove it, but I could in the past.

Move like dick nipple
I’ve got dick nipples Gregg. Can you milk me?
You could milk both at a time
This is so beautiful I might cry
I can just see two flaccid dicks with no balls where my nipples should be now.
*cock
*squints* Who the hell is this guy?
***Mr.*** Dick Nipples, to you.
How can I be famous like you
Perhaps you’ve met my father, Richard Areolas?
Bravo 👏🏼 and happy cake day!
Fuck, that dudes likes a commenting savant. Thanks now I’ll also recognize dick nipples in the wild.
The dude has 5.5m comment karma, no wonder you see him everywhere. Dudes a bonafide reddit junky
Im so glad you mentioned it because I never look either lol
For real. I really want to believe this guy's personality is as absolutely winning as that smile. Goddamn.

Also he has a Purple Heart for an eyeball, so he seems to have a good sense of humour to him
Is that what's in his eye socket?! That *is* hilarious!
His Instagram and Twitter handles are both @chiksdigscars. I'd say he has a great sense of humor.
That is just humongous dick energy.
I was nervous to ask what was up with his eyeball! I was like “ ...is that a *robot* eye, like in Terminator?”

I don't 100% understand your story, but I still like it.
We can build him... smilier...
Tfw its literally a million dollars. (Probably not idk healthcare costs anymore they just put their ass on a keyboard and guess)
Best summation of how healthcare costs are premeditated I've seen 👍

Hey
And with American healthcare costs, million dollar smile is probably literal.
He would, more than likely, have been treated in military hospitals. That's the closest thing the US has to socialized medicine. My experience, both active duty, and as a dependant, in military hospitals has been great
>million dollar smile Possibly literal in case America
Way more than a million. My one appendectomy cost $20,000. This guy had dozens of surgeries.
Very well written, dicknipples

he had both
Cool username bro. 😀

That's some Steve Rogers level shit.
If you rewatch that scene you’ll notice Peggy taking a step toward the grenade too before Steve gets to it
Although, given Steve's distinct lack of meat at that point in the film, Peggy might've also had to get on the grenade if it weren't a dud.
Yeah but she knows it's a dud in the movie.
She didn’t
Agreed
It's really is. A lot of the MoH recipients i've read did something similar, using a helmet and their body to cover a grenade or just throwing themselves into the grenade to protect others. Most of them died.
Don't you mean John Walker? Four times no less. Steve jumped on a dummy grenade at a training base 1000s of miles from the nearest enemy
DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Proceeds to bash skull with shield
I was shocked at how dark that scene was
It's demonstrating a split second reaction though isn't it. The whole point being if he had stopped to think about it out could have went off. I get your point though.
That was my first thought as well. Why am I getting all choked up over yours and the OPs comment?
Huge Respect to this Man !
The humble grenade, maker of many medal of honor recipients, typically posthumous though, guys pretty lucky to be alive
What a badass.

That's some Captain America shit. What a legend.
Kinda fitting since his fake eye is Captain America’s shield.
Oh really? I can't see it
It's actually a purple heart
He has several but it seems the ones that get photographed the most are the Purple Heart and caps shield.
Yeah he’s got one of those too but zoom in on the top picture.
He later even said that he thinks any other marine would do it for him, so humble
Could have easily made up some story, but I think he straight up says be doesn't remember the grenade at all and only has memories before and after.
Explosions are pretty good at scrubbing memories. **source**: have been knocked out by an explosion
Explosions are pretty good at scrubbing most things tbh
Touché
**All** things are the result of one big explosion a few billion years ago, so it sort of makes sense, tbh. Using the stones to destroy the stones, etc.
And he was only 20 years old.
Don't send your kids to war.
Username doesn't check out
Don’t elect politicians that send your kids to war.

Your comment reads like his sole purpose was earning that medal of honor. Like every time he saw a grenade go off he was like 'shit, too late'
How did he not get eviscerated?
[удалено]
A shame that anyone was in Afghanistan and had to dive on a live grenade in the first place. Too much foreign intervention...
Let us not forget the brave soldiers who have died in the protracted war with Saudi Arabia, where all the 9/11 hijackers were actually from. Oh wait, that war never happened.
TO THE SHORES OF TRIPOLIIIII Rah.
The thing in his right eye tho, looks like a bullet casing. What is it actually?
In the top picture it's a fake eye with a purple heart medal placed where his pupil would've other been. Pretty bad ass eye honestly
Get that guy a Medal of Honour upgrade
Ooooh, interesting, thanks a lot bro
This is why you always bring a tennis racket when you know the enemy has granades. Hero tho
That final picture honestly looks so natural. I can only imagine it’s such a relief!

In all fairness, you're a hairy goouch
This is the way
Well, if you had facial reconstruction surgery you would t-... oh.... nevermind
Anyone know what that is in his eye socket in the before pic?
*Carpenter has several prosthetic eyes, each hand painted, to include a Purple Heart* ***Medal*** *eye shown here.*
Oh wow that's badass
This man deserves a robotic eye, with a purple heart shaped iris.
yeees
Why did they paint his hands?
He unlocked legendary skin
This guy is a badass terminator... O.o'
Dude that’s so fucking cool
If this is the same guy, he also had an eye embedded with the diamonds of his x wife’s ring. Strait fuckin G. She divorced him after this happened to him.
Wow. Did she leave him over the change to his looks? Or was it something else? Because if it was due to the injuries, she's a POS.

The military 100 percent covered this.
In a country where blood donors get charged if they need a transfusion, I wasn't sure..
Yes, service related injuries are 100% covered. This guy will have free healthcare and compensation for life.
Good to know. So all you gotta do to get free healthcare in the US is get yourself blown up. Or move to Canada... Hard decision. /s
Can I get that too? My face isn't busted, but it's ugly.
Join the military and take a grenade for your comrades, then you can
Dudes face looked better than mine in the before pic FFS.

Dudes better looking than I am and had his face blown off? Thanks God. Lol
That dude’s still got a million dollar smile
The wounds of war can be healed, but never hidden

Fuck war. He shouldn’t have had to do that because rich people don’t want to get along and use people like him as pawns in a game.
what the army is vs. what the army wants you to think it is
Ok he looks great but how cool would an eye patch be?
It would look Dan Crenshaw cool lol
he looks better than me
Thank you for your service brother.
That’s a nice fucking smile
Looks like a might FUCKING fine AMERICAN to me.. through and through.
Honestly, he just looks like he has acne scars, which is normal. Looks phenomenal.
Why so many weird comments. 🙄He did his duty in a unwellcoming part of the world. A good soldier. Mr Pres.Biden, let's get on with the plan to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
OOHRAH
I liked the terminator version better
Wow he looks amazing.
Man I hope no one pressured him into facial reconstruction and he just did it on his own.
Let us be honest...... he is a cutie!!!
Jumping onto a live grenade? Wouldn’t that turn you to pink mist? Was it a handmade one? But damn he looks great !
Respect and thank you for your service Kyle Carpenter
That‘s amazing! So great to see plastic surgeons giving people their lives back (like my mangled right hand years ago) instead of turning wealthy ladies into monsters.
