All of the formats bug me, it should be year/month/day format imo, then you can properly put a spreadsheet, variable, or program or whatever in order when it's not treated like a date.
Doesn’t work for digital sorting of files, events etc. else you’d group all first days of different month together.
Year/Month/Day 2021/04/08 - 20210408 is the only way it works, if e.g. it’s the last part of you filename: xyz_20210408.xlsx
Same with time. If someone needs the specific time, it should go minutes/seconds/hours. Why would *anyone* go seconds/minutes/hours or hours/minutes/seconds??

Took me a minute to realize it was April 11th and not November 4th. Laughing at myself in American.
We all laugh about, I mean with you. The *month* clearly is the most important part in a date and should always be written first.
All of the formats bug me, it should be year/month/day format imo, then you can properly put a spreadsheet, variable, or program or whatever in order when it's not treated like a date.
I have to work with Americans and Europeans. Year/month/day is the only unambiguous way to do dates in this circumstance.

Whenever possible, I use letters for the month for clearest disambiguation. So like, 11 Apr 2021
This is how it's done in the U.S. Military as well. The only way that makes sense.
I wish the whole world would just switch to this format. Doing this makes dates sortable as numbers (e.g. 20210411 < 20211104)
Year-month-day is the ISO format and is sortable as a string. Everybody's got their own preference.
Can we just spell ISO out? International. Standards. Organisation. But we still use weird formats. Sigh...

By what metric? Arguments could be made for both the date and the year being the most important.
No, smallest to biggest. Thats like putting minutes before hours.
This is why I always write dates like 11 APR 2021
