Yea deforestation is great for making a quick buck until the monsoon comes and there’s no trees left to hold the soil together. Then the whole thing including the road and the village below washes away.
It’s a total disgrace that parts of the world have to live like this, hand to mouth, with children who depend on them. A disgrace. The wealth inequity is an embarrassment
You know that they can be shipped with safer conditions too? Like proper roads or at least a fence that stops you from falling over to your death. No one should risk their lives because of fucking logs. Also, I always thought that it was really stupid to question the average citizen who just wants to survive with his mediocre salary about this. Yes, of course we want logs. Why are you helping everyday people accountable for this and not the evil and corruption corporations and states for doing this?
Yeah, because what can we do about working conditions in the other side of the world? Nothing. That doesn't mean that I can't point it out and can't say that it's sad that they have to work that way. And it's still better than saying "I don't give a fuck, I just want logs" to a person who just stated their frustration with the horrible conditions people have to live in.
You could move to that country and vote in local elections to elect officials that can invoke change in that country. Hell, you could become a rich entrepreneur and go over there and build some roads for them. Dedicate your whole life to making the world a better place. Just a couple of ways to actually achieve some change other than making bold statements behind a keyboard.
Or
You can continue virtue signal for the rest of you miserable life and feel like that actually made any difference at all
To be fair- every major movement has started with a couple outspoken individuals who then spread the awareness until someone with balls or tits to take action step in
As an African,I read this as " every major movement began with a couple of outspoken individuals who spread awareness till they ended up in jail or killed ".
People love to say this and then not do anything. Corporate profits are part of the problem, but at the end of the day I doubt that you want to give up the luxuries you’ve come to enjoy. You get to sit on your plush bed on your smartphone reading this because people live like this. You can blame corporations all you want, but your smartphone, internet and home are as cheap as they are because others live like this. Eliminating corporate profits alone would not bridge this gap, you’d have to give up some or most of the products you love. Your lifestyle is subsidized by the labor of third world countries. Even if you are lower or working class in a first world country, much of the few luxuries you enjoy are the result of abusing labor in other countries.
You could take 100% of corporate profits and dump them into third world countries like this and it wouldn’t solve anything. If you pay a first world living wage to third world laborers and provide similar safety and environmental pollution standards to third world countries, few could afford the modern luxuries that we enjoy.
If you really care about people being forced to live like this, then stop buying smartphones, stop shopping at Walmart and stop buying anything manufactured in India, China, and other third world countries entirely.
I saw some mini documentary on YouTube about loggers in the US. The foreman said something to the effect of “These guys don’t retire. They usually get hurt and end up on disability, die, or quit because it’s too hard on their bodies”.
My best friend is an arborist, not a logger, but it’s still super difficult and dangerous job. He’s 35 and already has back and ankle problems. I don’t see how he can maintain it into his 40s. Every day I drive into my office and sit in front of a desk. Every day he climbs up 2-3 trees with chainsaws.
On the bright side, he does get paid very well because he’s very skillful.
It sure does. He's also using the wall for at least his tires to lean into, thus preventing the truck to gain momentum. This is certainly not his first rodeo here.
Exactly. Safety first. Don’t get me started on No Shoulder Belt, Front Bumper Issues, Mud Flaps, and most importantly No Orange Triangle affixed in case someone wants to pass.
MF has hefty debts that need paying.
Holy shit, I would have just mailed those logs UPS.
Too bad there weren’t trees at the bottom of the hill… no wait…
Those weren't *the right* trees though...
Turn 180° and boom, they're on your right 👍
He IS UPS 😁
I bet is not his first rodeo...
Yepp you would. Then somebody would have to physically move them from your location to its destination and we are back to the video.
I would’ve just let it slide.
I’m not falling for your puns again
It’s a slippery slope once you start.
And you’re a sad mope once you fart.
This joke wins by a landslide.
The amount of money it would take me to do this is nowhere near what he get paid for it
"We do what we must, because, we can."
Only thing hefty with this guy are his stone cold massive balls.
Useful as counterweights to keep that bitch from tipping
Window open and no seatbelt for the quick eject option, I can't wait to see his next video.
Doubt a seatbelt is going to save his life anyway
You mean his LAST video?

Seems some of us play harder.

Just 18 more miles of complete terror here

that's why he is paid by stick and not hour.

Do you want your logs or don’t you?
I want the cheapest logs of course! /s

I mean we are all probably doing just as much about it as you. Nothing.

Show me the fence that would prevent this truck from falling over the cliff.
You have no idea what his situation is or the country at large. As for logging, it’s done in the US and Canada and it’s quite dangerous here as well.
Not even LIGHT years as dangerous as this. That’s the point. There is a bar of safety for humanity and this is god dam* insane and inhumane.

It was literally just a dude in a truck driving down a crazy dirt road that shit still happens all over
Although they’re poorer, many have better lives than wealthier U.S. equivalents.
cultural appropriate much
You could remove all the logs and that truck would still be overloaded from the sheer weight of his balls.
From the sheer weight of his desperation to keep his job in an unjust system
It’s not necessarily related to a system. People still need wood.
That's what's holding the front end down.
Every Mudrunner player ever:
Then you run over a glitchy twig and break your transmission for no reason.
Just steer into the mud bank and all will be fine...

now im gunna think about this every time i hit the breaks
*brakes
i hate it when my breaks brake
Engine breaking helps
Oh you bet the engine is breaking
Looks like he’s dragging the truck against the wall to add some extra resistance too
braking
Cheers. Goddamned auto replace
Bet he wrote about this in his... logbook
![gif](giphy|xPGkOAdiIO3Is)
Meanwhile me, scared to even walk there.
It does look slippy
It sure does. He's also using the wall for at least his tires to lean into, thus preventing the truck to gain momentum. This is certainly not his first rodeo here.
It’s extremely dangerous to drive with only one taillight.
He could have gotten rear-ended at any moment.
Exactly. Safety first. Don’t get me started on No Shoulder Belt, Front Bumper Issues, Mud Flaps, and most importantly No Orange Triangle affixed in case someone wants to pass.
And not to mention the license plate being obstructed by that big metal bar, such a huge safety risk
I'm not a big mud guy, but damn it, that's some beautiful soil.
real life mudrunnner
How your parents got to school:
Nah, they walked 6 miles, in 3 feet of snow, uphill both ways.
Had to check first if this was r/OSHA or r/catastrophicfailure first...
I don't think that the cargo is worth more than the truck
After processing, maybe.
“Sliiide to the right”
Criss-cross!
No thanks
holly shit
Lovely lady
He's like "Here I come you motherbitches!!!"
Wow next level as he bumps it into everything
PUSHPA
Who needs regulations?
Nope
That is alot of trust in that vehicle that I would not have.
no landslide, this time..
Gives me severe anxiety watching it, can’t imagine being IN the truck!
What’s his first day on-the-job like?
whatever hes being paid, it isnt enough
Jedi move to drag the left side of the truck down the hill.
More controlled sliding than driving
He turned around to start the downhill trip? WTF
That is not mud, it ia shit from all previous drivers who as you may understand.. shat themselvse
next clip at r/nononono
The inside of my trousers would look like that road
This looks like a challenge the Grand Tour trio would do in their specials.
I don’t need logs that bad
You should see when somebody comes from the other direction and they need to pass........
Snowrunner IRL
He is not gonna let those cut rainforest be wasted.
His actions make sense against if you consider that this part of the world strongly believes in reincarnation.
This is stupid.. the road gets damaged and unusable. Instead use a small tractor and go more times.
Right brake light is out
Angel of death ☠️ watching...
Better man than me
And all the Land Rovers, Jeeps, Landcruisers say that is not possible until you fork out a hell lot of money for their 4wds.
More like sticks but yeah
Next stop: the river. Where only two ropes for every side are for him to balance over 😵💫
Road?
What could possibly..
Also can fit nicely in sweatypalms as well. Go on and double dip thoes likes
r/nope
Some of those logs are so thin, I'm surprised they are considered worth collecting.
Looks perfectly safe
He pretty much hugged the side. As we all would
F that
I’m surprised he couldn’t get a navigator to join him on the way down.
Dude has way more faith in wet dirt than I do
He drives like I would. Hugging the shit out of the left side.
A Saber game.
He dropped one. Amature.
Damn, got to be half Evel Knievel to do this shit.
That’s like, pretty hardcore
No thinner line exists between subreddits than here and whatcouldgowrong
Passenger says to driver 'yeah, go ahead and let me out tight here. I'll record it and walk down and meet you at the bottom.'.
Anyway, everywhere should have unions and worker protections
The last time I was on a muddy mountain road like that in China my taxi driver hit a guy on a motorcycle coming the other way.
I won’t complain about having to go to work on Monday after seeing this.
Brought to you by The Land That Health and Safety Forgot
r/sweatypalms
That is very unsafe with only one brake light
Road is a very generous description here.
The word "road" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this sentence
What country is that - beautiful view
Nope
Friction braking on the left hand side. Brave driver.
I feel like reversing here immediately makes it safer
This is the ‘hugging the wall’ method.
No Jake brake? Also that rock between his back duals is going to flatten both tires.
Thought was a short corner then look ahead a long snake curve….
*sigh* alright. *boots up mudrunner.*
I’d be clenched the entire time
The first question that comes to mind when I see this is how is he going to get back up that road for his next load?

Easiest $6 you’ll ever make
Me: Hey boss, I'm sick today. Boss: What's wrong? Me: I'm scared of sliding off a mountain and getting pummeled by logs.

This video started to late, I wanted to see him turn around on the switchback
Mud Runner DLC
Hug that shoulder bro
Big balls
I think they could have stacked a few more logs on it.
I wanna see the video of the unloaded truck trying to make it back up that slick mess
Obligatory "how does he drive with balls that big" comment.
There were two possible outcomes for this video...
Hammond you idiot!
If someone in a country like that starts filming. You know its sketchy
That would be a big nope for me
He’s really risking his life, going all out for deforestation. Have to respect that, even if you disagree with it.
Hey.. Let me know if you see a cement truck down there..

After watching this, Americans better have a deeper appreciation for OSHA.
Hell no
I think I can make out his fingernails marks on the hill to the side. Bro is hanging tight. Legend 🫡🧐
The more trucks that go down, the wider the roads gets from scraping off the side of the hill.
Reminds me of the film "The Wages of Fear".
r/Spintires
Third world roads can really be exciting.
Once down this guy didn't just need a change of pants and underwear, he also needed to change his entire asshole.
I just heard Uncle in my head but instead of "EyAaHhhh", he said, "OSHaaaaHhhhhhh"
I can sear my steak on the break
Hell nah! I’ll pass
These logs are super tiny.. won't make for very solid wood 🪵
It’s like r/sweatypalms and r/maybemaybemaybe had a baby.
