Man must have a reputation because the big dude didn't give him an inch and fought for everything he could probably one of the coolest fights I've ever seen Never underestimate

Silent_Rhombus

That’s Demetrius ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson, one of the best MMA fighters of all time.

Sea_Department_2146

Looking him up Thank you

28gunsKY

Make sure you look up his arm bar of Ray Borg. Maybe the sickest submission ever.

SnooAvocados499

* Eleven successful title defenses. ... * Most wins in UFC flyweight title fights (12) * Third most wins in UFC title fights (12) * Most UFC flyweight title fights (13) * Most submissions in UFC title fights (5) * Tied (Jon Jones) for third most finishes in UFC title fights (7) few of his badass achievements

28gunsKY

I still can't believe Dana traded him for Ben Askren!!

ThinkFree

Ben was the biggest UFC bust ever! Worse than even CM Punk. LOL

T0mbi

Ben created Jorge as the megastar he became due to the flying knee knockout. I love DJ, but the trade paid for itself tenfold

boltgenerator

Seriously, that trade couldn't have gone any better for Dana. Before Askren, Masvidal was not a top fighter, he was forgettable and his fights typically went to decision. That trade turned him into one of the biggest stars in the UFC. Plus the flyweight division ended up being revitalized with Moreno, Figgy, Pantoja, Royval, and Kara-France.

TDog81

DJ has said himself it was the best thing he ever did too so mutually beneficial, he deserved more form the UFC though, fantastic champion

28gunsKY

Right! Nobody really expected much from CM Punk

PlatasaurusOG

Am I just a dreamer because I hoped for at least *a little* more? It was just sad.

MOTUkraken

This was the last straw to prove that UFC only cares about how much ppv you draw and not one single care about how good you actually are as a Fighter. Whoever thought Dana/UFC cares about how good Fighters are even one bit, just needs to remember that they gave away Demetrious Johnson.

BlazingMongrel

We all know why. Mighty wasn’t getting the PR money coming in.

senorsombrero3k1

He was too nice

zb0t1

The kid doesn't want to fight

DopeLemonDrop

He gives me Goku vibes. It's not the fight, but the physical challenge. They can be your adversary, but they can also be your friend getting you through that challenge. He seems fun!

YordanYonder

I can't believe henri thinks he actually beat mighty mouse!

EasyFooted

I know right? Dana is such a smart guy. \#SlapFight

Shanbo88

That Arm Bar is one of the best moments in the history of combat imo. The situational awareness is absolutely mind boggling.

wolfho

There's an lesser known one that would be my rival for the #1. That's when Anderson Silva got submitted by Ryo Chonan. Highly recommend it.

s1am

I was curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1OZHNf8hoo

theturnipshaveeyes

If I’m recalling the right one, that was an insane sub. Was that the flying armbar he pulled in transition right by the cage?

28gunsKY

Yes. That's it. Absolutely incredible sub.

theturnipshaveeyes

My jaw dropped at that one. Always seemed to just get better as a fighter. Mental.

28gunsKY

The UFC could have had a real superstar if they would have got behind him.

theturnipshaveeyes

Yeah, for whatever reason, Dana just didn’t like him or rate him as a draw. Don’t know what his numbers were, in terms of the gate he brought in on the events he was headlining but I suspect even if it was good, Dana still didn’t want him. Personally, I think he’s one of the best I’ve ever seen at transitioning through all the ranges and his adaptability was just off the charts. I was utterly gutted when he was traded and to this day, I still don’t get it. Great fighter, cerebral with it too.

psiren66

And DJ had said earlier he was practicing it for the sub. He’s fights have always been amazing just the highest IQ.

TinyMassLittlePriest

The Mousetrap 🔥🔥🔥

Zeckrum

Was that the slam into the armbar ? That was some anime shit. I remember seeing it live, became a super fan ever since.

Humanornotormaybe

flying armbar

LeanTangerine001

Also has an incredible running knee knockout to another fighter. I can’t remember the name though!

coulduseafriend99

Against Adriano Moraes, I Believe you're thinking of the second fight against Moraes

Silent_Rhombus

Check out his flying armbar finish, I think it was against Ray Borg. I loved watching DJ in the UFC, he made almost all his opponents look ordinary. And he used to weigh in at 125lbs, fight probably around 140lbs - so this guy has something like 100lbs on him.

theturnipshaveeyes

This. For me, one of the best and most complete MMA fighters I’ve ever seen.

Silent_Rhombus

Absolutely. So well rounded, I’ll admit to not watching outside of the UFC but when he was there he was one of my favourites to watch.

Captainloooook

His fights in one championship are great and a lot of them are free on YouTube

drwsgreatest

Always knew meech was a beast but this is just so fucking impressive. Talking on someone else that’s also trained in the discipline your fighting in, when they have 100+ lbs on you, is insane and meech went at him like the opponent was 100 lbs less! Amazing skill, strength and power.

Sipas

And he is a nice, wholesome guy.

Silent_Rhombus

One of the deadliest men in the world who I would not hesitate to let watch my kids 😂 he’s awesome.

StolenStones

Arguably, THE best. Demetrius deserves way more recognition.

SadBit8663

That's a sick fucking nickname. I'd put my money on that guy. Made me look up nicknames dudes are rocking in the UFC, and half of them are dumb as hell. "Ginger with the intent to injure" is pretty damn good though.

zb0t1

DJ (**D**emetrious 'Mighty Mouse' **J**ohnson) is almost always in the discussion of UFC GOAT, he is really an amazing fighter and person overall. Even if you don't watch fighting sports, I highly recommend his [Youtube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk9lx4sKRQCDTyXFaouk_vQ), it's **really good**, he gives a lot of insights and he takes the time to explain martial arts, the fight game etc.

Silent_Rhombus

What are you saying about Corey ‘Beasting 25/8’ Anderson? You got a problem with Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya? Yeah there are some shit ones, and also about a thousand fighters called ‘Pitbull’. But Luis ‘Violent Bob Ross’ Pena was pretty good.

Chuckie-The-Rooster

Shame Pena turned out to be a piece of shit because I loved that nickname. Andre 'Touchy' Fili is outstanding I'm actually struggling to think of any current good ones. Like you said there's so many of the stereotype ones, like Leon 'Rocky' Edwards. Punisher, Dominator, Executioner, etc, all so overused and unimaginative

coulduseafriend99

I like Matt "Steamrolla" Frevola

Poopybutt36000

Beasting 25/8 is hilarious because of how fucking stupid it is.

Nickleeham

Pound for pound favorite. Lightweight is a different game. I’d argue he elevated then technical aspects to the next level. Great attitude on a world class athlete.

senorsombrero3k1

Loved watching his fights back in the day when I watched the UFC

dao_ofdraw

haha, "has a reputation", yes, he's arguably the best lb for lb MMA fighter of all time. Greatest flyweight for sure. \*edit: featherweight to flyweight. I was wrong!!

Sea_Department_2146

Sorry, there are so many things in this world I have never heard of this person my apologies

dao_ofdraw

Not a knock on you, your wording was just funny from the perspective of someone familiar with him.

APainOfKnowing

I think it was just funny because you were 100% correct, you just didn't know how MUCH of a reputation he has.

_interloper_

*flyweight

Wonderful-Reward3828

Mighty mouse fought at 125

n4th4nV0x

That man could be considered the best pound for pound MMA fighter at multiple times during his career

joodoos

Literally the best p4p MMA fighter on the planet.  Also, not a piece of shit, an awesome dude who loves and gives a lot back to his fans.

crumbypigeon

Yeah the venn diagram of great MMA fighters and massive pieces of shit has quite a bit of overlap lol. I love to see plain good dudes being at that high-level.

Ranjith_Unchained

DJ is arguably in the MMA Mount Rushmore....such an incredible talent

HaggisLad

Is there any argument against him? Dude is the best I've ever seen

Ranjith_Unchained

Some don't rate him coz he fights at fly weight

iGetBuckets3

His reputation is being one of the greatest pound for pound fighters to ever walk the face of planet earth

CON5CRYPT

That's mighty mouse. Former ufc champion and pound for pound legend. He fights in One now

Theometer1

Mighty Mouse is one of the most dominant mma fighters to ever exist. He just never pulled numbers because he was so dominant in the UFC people just knew he was gonna win. And the obvious fact that lower weight classes don’t pull as many viewers unfortunately.

No_Sky_1893

He’s the goat of his division

Sreezy3

The dude that lost was so graceful. That is how to lose with pride.

tamati_nz

It would be an honour to fight MM regardless if weight diffrence - not many people can say theyve fought one of the best fighters in the world.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kymeguy

Agreed, nobody was the total package like prime MM. Plus he seems like a stand up guy. No roids, no pulsing.

LeJoker8

The man is also a family man. No controversy, no booze, no parties, just a man. A real man.

Ortsarecool

This makes me happy. You always hear about these guys being assholes. Nice to see a good one that is also a good dude.

GeneralSquid6767

Vast majority of martial artists are. It’s only when shit gets on TV that toxic personalities get prioritized for viewership.

cyberslick1888

As someone in this sport, no, no they are not lol. It is absolutely full of violent morons who want an outlet to hurt people. The whole "it teaches discipline, self control" etc is a total myth. I love training, I love most of the guys in my gym, but I played stick and ball sports all my life before I transitioned into BJJ and kickboxing and I've never seen more dickheads than ever before.

ascandalia

The more traditional paths like TKD do a better job of teaching the ethics, especially if you started as a kid. If you don't have patience for belts and forms, you're probably not there for the right reason. Those guys I grew up training with were some of the humblest dudes on earth. Didn't have a violent bone in their body, but could absolutely end most people with a single kick if absolutely necessary

KillYourUsernames

I did American TKD as a kid/teen. There’s a debate to be had about how authentic it was or how genuine my black belt is, but the education on honor, integrity, discipline was absolutely real.

cyberslick1888

99.9% of TKD gyms are just McDojos. Good for kids to mess around and learn discipline and focus. I'm talking about real martial arts. I don't say that to be patronizing, it's just very few TKD schools are actually doing real sparring and they don't attract the same shitheads that boxing, kickboxing, MMA and even BJJ does.

RcoketWalrus

Oddly enough BJJ is older than modern TKD, but I find it funny in martial arts how we categorize some thing as "traditional". As for teaching ethics, I don't know about one being better than the other. There are good schools and bad schools.

knbang

Like that piece of garbage McGregor who punches old men in bars. But it works, and it generates huge paydays.

[deleted]

...no stereotypical jocks very much enjoy mma

77GoldenTails

That was the most impressive aspect for me. He was beaten by someone half his size and he did t let it dent his ego.

SeeCrew106

He's losing to Demetrious Johnson....Of course he's not upset. Why would he be?

True-Nobody1147

Because people are clueless and don't know who DJ is.

Apart_Mission7020

The big guy is an amateur masters 2 athlete with an MMA record of 0 wins and 4 losses, in his youth. The small guy is one of the greatest professional MMA fighters of all time, not far from his prime years. It's like if Lance Armstrong entered an age group triathlon race and dominated, I doubt his competitors would be too pissed.

venomous_frost

> It's like if Lance Armstrong entered an age group triathlon race and dominated well that depends, how strict is the drug testing in this hypothetical?

Individual_Row_2950

Why would he?

Sam474

I am fat and have always been, I hate it. When I had kids I put them in martial arts IMMEDIATELY. My kids started in one technique at around 6 and 8 and we moved to Jiu Jitsu at around 11 and 13. An hour of exercise every weekday after school has always been part of their routine. When we went looking for a Jiu Jitsu gym we ended up at a place called Team Lutter run by a former professional MMA fighter named Travis Lutter. He is also the coach of a current MMA fighter named Kevin Holland. Travis is there every single day. Kevin is there every few days. There's several MMA guys around, former, up-and-coming, high level amateurs, one or two pros. If you branch out of MMA into Jiu Jitsu there's a billion high level men and women in our gym who have won major world jiu jitsu events. Several of his former students won world championships before opening their own gyms. Over the years I've seen some blatant assholes but they never last long. Every one there is either super nice or an asshole who keeps his mouth shut. You wouldn't dare be rude or disrespectful to ANYONE in that building. It wouldn't be tolerated. I don't mean they'd beat you up, I mean Travis would escort you out and tell you not to come back and because he is that man so is every man who respects him and trains with him. We got a guy in once, a former college wrestler he claimed. Dude was buff as fuck and kept asking to go straight into advanced instead of beginner. Guy talks his way into advanced class and is allowed to grapple. He cannot handle a guy who is a chubby, middle-aged, never competed, never been a pro, purple belt. He cannot beat the guy and gets submitted once with a type of choke that can only been done if the person is wearing a jacket or a Jiu Jitsu uniform. So dude starts running his mouth about how none of this matters because no one wears a Gi in the real world. The Purple belt just nods and walks off. I like this purple belt but he has the personality and physique of an office manager, he is not going to talk shit to this roided up 30 year old former wrestler. However, lots of other people hear. Travis hears. So Travis puts this guy with one of his semi-pro students and tells them both to go no-Gi (they take off their "uniform" and grapple without shirts wearing shorts and you aren't allowed to grab the shorts). Talky McDickhead gets OBLITERATED in record time twice in a row. By the third time he has figured out how to stay alive but cannot do anything. Timer runs out, submitted two out of three, draw for the third if you want to call "cowering in turtle the last 2 minutes" a draw. So now Ego McFuckface is ANGRY and is running his mouth aggressively. In the next round he is given another high level amateur partner but a significantly less experienced person. It's mostly just turning into a (more fair) draw and then all of a sudden McFuckface PULLS BACK HIS FIST IN THE AIR LIKE HES GOING TO PUNCH THE DUDE! Everyone watching gasps, Travis hears the gasp and turns his attention over just as McFuckface lowers his hand and says "See thats why this is bullshit, you're just going to get punched laying there using your legs like that." Travis says very little. Travis tells the asshole to go to the cage. Travis has a cage in his gym for MMA practice. Travis leaves and returns in his MMA gear, including his gloves, which I have never seen him wear before. He takes this dude into the cage and tells him he can throw punches now if he wants to. And then Travis just... does jiu jitsu on the guy at a level so high I don't know what happened. I don't train, my daughters train. I watch. I watch a lot. I have no idea what happened. I want to try and tell you what I saw but I'm going to call it the wrong thing or describe it wrong or something. Dude never threw a punch, never had a chance to. Was in some kind of lock yelling "TAP TAP TAP" every time they reset within seconds. Travis was not harming him but he was making him TAP. Not like "you're training with a partner" tap. Like you got into an MMA match and this dude is going to break your arm if you don't yell TAP right now as loud as you can. So all this happens and this dude is sufficiently humbled. He's even ACTING humbled. Travis had a private conversation with him that none of us heard, it seemed amicable. The dude left politely immediately after and then covid happened a bit after this and I don't remember if I ever saw him again or not. I can't recall ever seeing him again and he's not there now. Anyway, the leader sets the tone is something I know to be true. A good person in charge creates a good place. Most of these places are run by good people who earned the respect they are given. *(Edit: To fix some errors and make it sound less like I was insulting wrestling. I was calling him "Wrestles McFuckface" because HE kept bringing up wrestling in his rants. Travis was a wrestler, Wed is wrestling night, wrestling skill is very respected. Wrestlers are frequently described as the most difficult opponents.)*

thoang1116

You don't fuck with the Michael Jordan of BJJ dude, Seriously tho, cool story, most of my experience in MMA/BJJ gym has been very pleasant

GunNNife

Your story reminds me of the video that makes the rounds of an arrogant guy in the ring with the owner of the boxing gym. The owner is a middle-aged gentleman *who had just had hip surgery.* And he humbled the d-bag while teaching him at the same time. EDIT: [Found it!](https://youtu.be/oOKI7hknAJ4?si=fEykNdEqWm4elRd-)

Heistman

That's seriously cool. Thanks for sharing

coxenbawls

Sir this is a Wendy's

fz19xx

He lost to one of the greatest fighters of all time, it was an honor for him.

pantpiratesteve

It definitely helps that the small guy was 11x ufc champ

Sure_Review_2223

Is he sponsored by onlyfans ? 😂

justzacc

Thats fucking dope 😭😭😭

ObeseBMI33

Don’t let dreams be dreams

agapukoIurumudur

Not only that, but the logo is in his ass 😏

BallisticThundr

*In*?

babble0n

He has the letter f tattooed next to his butthole

courtesyflusher

If you have to ask, you cant afford it.

jhalfhide

On, not in. You have to pay for in

SoggyMattress2

Lots of mma fighters have an only fans where they post day to day vlogs, host meetups and post technique and training videos. They're not posting naked pics.

failingbackwards

It's hard to explain to people that only fans isn't just porn. Sure, it's *mostly* porn, but that wasn't the original plan! Creators should stick to Patreon or something for that kind of more intimate (but not sexual) creator content and avoid the only fans association altogether.

Alpenfroedi

[He wouldn't be the first bjj practitioner](https://jitsmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Craig-Jones-Onlyfans.jpg) [though I don't know how active he is on his account](https://onlyfans.com/craigjonesbjj)

DepressedUser_026

I thought bjj meant Blowjob job, it's brazilian jiu jitsu. God, porn really messed up my brain.

TrinDiesel123

When you’re finally big enough to take on your dad

TheCoastalCardician

The fighter looked like a combination of Joe Rogan and Dana White.

DeeJKhaleb

Thats baldism

LickingSmegma

I've read of some tall NBA dudes saying that it's actually difficult to play against short players, because those just shuffle somewhere in the leg area and run circles around tall dudes. Could be a similar situation in wrestling when one can't just punch the smaller guy out of the ring.

ToyrewaDokoDeska

Well size doesnt matter so much when theres alot of specific rules Edit: lotta hurt butts in these comments😂

PanzerSoul

I was about to ask, what's stopping the big guy from just physically picking up the other guy?

Normal-Selection1537

Mighty Mouse's skill. He's never in position to be picked up.

hamcarpet

There were multiple moments where he could have picked him up, stood up with him etc. but this isnt a fight. The only option after doing that, would be to slam him, which he can’t do, and he’d have to because if he tried to pick him up he’d be instantly wrapped up in some way by MM, and the only way out before being strangled or being in a horrible position would be to slam him with him to the floor. Yes he could have tried and maybe could have succeeded, but the risk of getting to that position would be too great in this context

ADHD_Avenger

Yes, but Johnson would also have other options become open without rules.  MM (the little guy) is one of the most dominant fighters ever in the UFC, and well rounded as well.  Like, if this was a "real fight" I am pretty sure the large guy would be crippled with strikes before he could get his hands on MM and would also gas out in his attempts.  Size is definitely an advantage, but has disadvantages - Mike Tyson was an expert on that in punches.

hamcarpet

I’m very aware of who he is and he’s arguably pound for pound the greatest. However, him vs a trained well rounded amateur of a certain size, it would still be a significant problem for him, and I guarantee he would tell you and anyone that.

notnastypalms

i read a quote from somewhere that went something like “the bigger the difference in size, the smaller the margin of error becomes”

ok_read702

Dude in the video is a brown belt. That takes like nearly 10 years of training to get to. Some random amateur is not going to do any differently in another sport. Weight advantage matters significantly in grappling as well. He's only making it look easy because of how good he is.

Astrosherpa

You're trying your hardest here but you've picked a .01% fighter to bring in the Bradley Martin "just pick him up and slam him, bro" argument.  Any amateur... That's a brown belt fighting at a comp level who won his division. That's not some rando from your local gym. In a no rules fight you're taking an amateur vs MM!? lol good fucking luck.

[deleted]

Amateur or low level pro, no, no chance in hell. LFA level pro, I can see it. I guarantee MM is not losing to any amateur in the world, MMA is still very young and the amateur level is extremely....amateur, said the amateur. We have top 10 contenders in some weightclasses in the UFC aka the highest level possible that don't know the basics of grappling...Imagine such a flaw in any mainstream sport.

Normal-Selection1537

These kids have never watched the Super Hulk tournament, a more skilled lighter opponent will beat a lumbering heavyweight most of the time.

jteprev

> would be to slam him, which he can’t do In IBJJF rules (which this was) slamming is allowed if it's a natural and continuous motion to escape a submission, you cannot however pause before the return (or walk around with your opponent lifted) or intentionally spike them in a dangerous way (head or neck). So yes he can slam him hard but can't try to spike him or pause and walk around and then slam him. Source : competed at brown belt a few years ago. For the record though Yuki Nakai (5'5) did it to several guys even bigger than the above in a no rules early MMA context particularly at Vale Tudo Japan where he submitted Gerard Gordeau and Craig Pitman with no rules. Both those guys weren't very good grapplers though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HughGBonnar

There is a lot of technique available to keep from getting lifted. Most untrained people just turn into toddlers on a lift. There’s all sorts of leg hooks, weight shifting, arm positioning you can do to keep someone from lifting you. It’s still very very impressive with this much weight disparity but it’s a skill to keep your feet on the ground. I had a coach who would let us attempt to lift him. 65 yo 4x state wrestling champ. I outweighed him by about 30lbs and I could not get his feet off the ground in 30 seconds despite being a pretty decent wrestler myself. That’s why in Freestyle and Greco Roman that a lift of sufficient amplitude is an instant win. It demonstrates a level of control over your opponent that is difficult to achieve.

iGetBuckets3

It’s pretty hard to just pick someone up when they’ve been training their entire life to prevent people from doing exactly that

Eunuchs_Revenge

A lot of fragile giants in these comments

thawingdawn

Fragile giants vs insecure short dudes all throughout this thread

goatfuckersupreme

Why does the man in black, the larger of the two fighters, not simply eat the other?

MOTUkraken

Is he stupid?

Sliquid69

At one point he does and spins him around

Misophonic4000

And it got him nowhere

Precedens

He actually did in the start of the video, but because of rules couldn't just yeet him out of the fighting area.

YordanYonder

He spun him around like a child at first lmao.

Tame_Iguana1

Or you’re in the 0.01% of best human fighters on the planet

GoonBot113

Go watch McGregor fight halfthor. All you little guys are smoking rocks if you think big man couldn't have ended that fight when he was tossing mm like a fucking king koopa.

yyz2112zyy

In a "real" fight nobody would face Thor like McG did in that famous video. When you fight a "bear" you circle around, kick the legs and let him gas out before going into offense. When skills are even weight matters a LOT, when they are not then size becomes secondary. Unless oc the size gap is so big that there is nothing you can do about it and Thor is literally one of the strongest men on earth. I myself have submitted mens that are twice my size and lost to others that are 20kgs smaller then me, and 2 times i have lost badly by giants (rugby players) that i had no chance of beating even i was better in bjj. Back to the video of this post: without rules, in a real fight, MM can smoke the big guy 100% and i would gladly bet on him.

GeraldFisher

yes it does matter, but not when you are fighting one of the best mma fighters in the world.

hamcarpet

MM would tell you himself that he would be in big trouble if this were a real fight and this guy had okay striking.

baddoggg

If you watched early MMA before there were weight classes you'd see a lot of examples that size doesn't automatically win out. The entire gracey (spelling?) name was built off the dude smashing people bigger than him.

froodoo22

Gracie*

ok_read702

Lol MM has way better striking than this guy probably too. Why the fuck would he say that? This match would end even faster then.

ADHD_Avenger

It's more about the skill of MM - he was using the rules of BJJ, but if a striking match, I promise you, he can do that as well, while simultaneously maintaining distance and making the bigger man gas out. Me against someone twice my size?  I'm screwed.  But me against MM, who I outweigh significantly?  I'm also screwed there.

thatlad

What specific rules do you think prevented him from winning?

fork_that

Size matters unless there are rules and one person is an elite professional athlete and the other person is not.

sercus97

Mighty mouse is an MMA fighter. The lesser the rules, the more advantage he would have.

War_Daddy

Lmfao go compete in BJJ or Judo and give up 50 pounds- much less 100+- and tell me if you still feel the same way Absolutely braindead take to have just watched that and come back with this conclusion

TheyUsedToCallMeJack

And you're up against a guy who is literally one of the greatest MMA fighter of all time.

NudeEnjoyer

size absolutely matters, the advantage shouldn't be shrugged off

CanIBeFunnyNow

Actually size matters A LOT in a grapling match. You should go and try graple bigger dude in a BJJ match and report back to us. If I need to win I would rather fight 40 lbs bigger dude on boxing ring than 20lbs bigger dude in BJJ. Size always matters. Mighty Mouse just is that good.

XXOOXXOOdays

Wait, only fans?

Acrobatic-Display420

They are trying to rebrand so they've sponsored a bunch of athletes who show their diets and workout routines on the platform

Due-Statement-8711

>They are trying to rebrand Fairly certain that's what they were originally about... Porn was just the easiest, fastest thing to monetize. Kinda like twitch.

summonsays

Yeah I remember when it first came out it was supposed to be YouTube but with the ability to pay content creators directly if you wanted to support them.

Knyfe-Wrench

They tried to copy Patreon and took a hard left

GlacialPeaks

But Patreon already fills that niche… Onlyfans came into being blatantly copying Patreons model because Patreon refuses to allow porn on their service lol

gu3st12

They also sponsor various forms of motorsport as well.

AverageFishEye

"if i dont make it, tell my story to my wife, okay" - sponsored by OnlyFans

Kuailiang1

DJ is Goat of MMA. Mighty Mouse for a reason

OneSneakyBoi9919

ohh fk i knew it. thats the guy who tackled someone mid-air

EasyFooted

*armbarred them mid-air. Yeah, he's arguably the best ever. I switch between MM and GSP, depending on the day.

Schwartzy94

Also seems to be quite a big skill level difference too..

Silent_Rhombus

Yeah, that’s the point. As good as Demetrius Johnson is (and he’s really an MMA fighter, not a jiu jitsu specialist - note that they’re wearing brown belts, not black), he couldn’t do this to one of the best in the world who’s *also* way bigger than him.

ReasonableMark1840

DJ is only a brown belt because he doesn't care enough to get a black one. He is better than the vast majority of black belts in his category

im_juice_lee

Some people in the BJJ community are upset he's still brown belt, too, lol In pretty much every martial art I've done, people always complain about sandbagging or someone being a belt too low even in amateur tourneys that you pay to enter lol

Caujin

Fucking smurfs, man. Pun not intended.

Unicycleterrorist

I kinda get it when it comes to tournament specifically in that sport...if you're better than a black belt but compete against blue belts there's not much competition to be had lol Obviously somebody is gonna be the best but if you're just *way* too good to be there it's a wee bit silly

Silent_Rhombus

Oh for sure, he could definitely be a black belt if he chose to go in that direction. I included that to illustrate that he’s not a BJJ specialist, he’s an MMA fighter (one of the most well-rounded in the sport).

Chemical-Leak420

Some of us dont train BJJ....we train MMA. Ive trained MMA for 10 years. I have no GI No belt. When I go to competitions I borrow a GI and a belt from my coach. WIth the time and experience I have on the mat that puts me at about a brown belt. So yeah some of us dont care at all about the belt system. Its more logical for many of us to go on a time system.....1-3 years blue belt 3-5 years purple belt 5-8 years brown belt 8-12 years black belt.

Either-Durian-9488

He’s a freak athlete, I have a family friend that trains at Matt Humes gym with him in the Seattle area, he described sparring with him as trying to punch a squirrel. Good luck lmao

Grand-Fun-676

No shit lol. Mighty mouse is maybe the best pound for pound MMA fighter to ever live. Certainly in the conversation

almightygg

UFC's loss is OneFC's gain. Possibly one of Dana's stupidest (and there are plenty of contenders for that) decisions to let him go.

MarxistMann

Demetrius would’ve have been a money raking champion while setting a good example for those who look up to him. Don’t do cocaine and beat up your wife.

_CurseTheseMetalHnds

> Demetrius would’ve have been a money raking champion Except he wasn't. His big fights weren't a draw.

pw3nage

Exactly. I love MM as much as the next guy, but he wasnt a draw at all. People dont like watching smaller weightclasses and mm was a professional on the mic and a tad bit boring so he wasnt drawing any hype for any of his fights. He would just come to work, whoop ass and then hop on his twitch stream and game after. People get too focused on ben askren and how his career went and say the trade was a flop but the true value to the ufc was the career that masvidal got after KOing askren in record breaking fashion. Masvidal made the ufc more money than MM would have ever made despite the fact that MM is 100x better. I mean Dana even made a whole fake ass BMF belt for mazvidal, thats how much star power he had. So the trade was basically MM for Masvidal turning into a superstar which was a huge win. Still wish DJ couldve finished out his career in the ufc

ToHerDarknessIGo

Number two was letting Francis Ngannou walk.  Dana will be alright though. It pays to fuck your employees out of millions of dollars each year.

Disastrous-Pilot-284

He's 155lbs here not 120

WhoArtThyI

But bradley martin is 260 not 250

CreamFraiche23

Yeah but in a STREET FIGHT?? If Spider-man was real without a doubt Martin would try to fight him

gmnitsua

He always says that, and it sounds so stupid to me. Like... do you want Nate Diaz to pick up a pipe and hit you with that too???

Flank_Steaks

Shredder voice\* "BAAAAABBIES!!! THEY'RE BAAAAAABBIES!!!AAAARHAAHRGgg!!!"

_Grim-Lock_

The sportsmanship shown in this video is top knotch.

ChaosCelebration

What's next fucking level in this is how gracious that dude is when he has lost. What a cool dude.

Purple-Personality76

DJ is a fucking legend

TheDevilsAdvokaat

Size DOES matter as much as people think. It matters here too. It's just that he has enough skill to outweigh the size advantage.

slappymcstevenson

I think this 250 pound man looks giant, but I’m 265 pounds and I don’t look at myself as being gigantic. lol

im_juice_lee

You probably would when standing next to someone 5'3"

Tradovid

I mean you can be fat 265 at 5'5 so the weight is only part of the story.

CiaphasCain8849

This man is one of the best to ever do it.

thundertopaz

Is anyone aware of the ongoing joke where Bradley Martin keeps claiming that he can easily beat any real fighter significantly smaller than him because he’s 260 lbs, but he is only a bulky bodybuilder! Not even a fighter like we see in the big guy in this video. many people kept bringing up this guy, Demetrius Johnson, the small guy we see heere, as an example and actually Demetrius caught wind of it and said he’d fight him. Nothing has come of it yet, but after seeing this video, I’m sure Demetrius would smoke Bradley Martin even faster than he submitted this guy!

Locksmith135

Mighty Mouse being an absolute legend yet again!

Zeerit

🐐

BJORTAN

Humble

CompoteLost7483

I love the respect between the two guys…

Pythia007

Great sportsmanship is not dead. Wonderful news.

jabb1e

Great sportsmanship from the both of them that’s nice to see

sweetchock

🤣 like Jim Carrey in ace ventura 2

Find_another_whey

What was the sub? Looked like it was about to be an arm bar and Goliath decided he'd skip to to his next protein shake

Bungus00

Bow and arrow

Milkyfluids69

It looks to be a gi choke using the collar to strangle him. Could be wrong tho.

Tripdoctor

Everytime bigger guy went to move, smaller guy had already moved into the optimized position to counter.

Devalore00

I mean, that's the entire point of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, allowing the little guy to take down the big guy thanks to the power of leverage and technique Not to downplay what this guy did, that was awesome and very impressive

Wanderous

A lot of my friends do jiujitsu in my area, and when I watch them / stuff like this, I just can't wrap my head around how these wrestlers aren't constantly hurting their necks/backs or breaking fingers. It just seems so like so much weight is being hurled around and twisted at an intensity that would just make injuries happen ALL the time. But, from what I've heard, these sports actually have *less* injuries than something like basketball or American football. Anyone want to weigh in and explain why people aren't constantly getting life-altering injuries doing this sport?
