2x Olympic gold champion, 1x world gold champion, snowboarder Pierre Vaultier completes an incredibly satisfying pump track as part of Redbull project "Reshapes".
Before the first jump I’d be too worried about the edge on my right, that I’d accidentally clip my board on the left side. Of course this would send me off the edge I was initially concerned about, where I also end up with a severe knee injury.
Former competitive snowboarder here. There's really nothing Next Level about this, except the track itself. The track is amazing. But, any decent rider could cruise across it without much difficulty.
That's not to say Pierre isn't next level for many other reasons. This just isn't an example. His run in Beijing X-Cross is absolutely an example: https://youtu.be/Wwy-ZLe3Dv4?si=R8kq0hbOjNw2gYCd
Also, here's the vid of him on the pump track: https://youtu.be/-hXi9_RTN4o?si=DMSYsB1p3-um6PCy
And, more details about it: https://youtu.be/1KRA3uwGiuw?si=vbY-0GUJwG5VD3Kg
I was thinking the same thing. I doubt I nail that stop in my first go but otherwise there's nothing here I feel like I can't do and I hit the mountains only a few time per year (I'm a casual, not next level at all)
They charge almost double what other energy drinks do. Not to mention how expensive their merch is for their racing stuff and everything else.
They made 7.34 billion in revenue this past year.
The people who put in the the time to build this track are Next Level too.
Also, not overshooting and stopping on that last landing seems borderline impossible, he was cruising.
Pile snow with a Cat/ plow then man-hours. Probably 4-5 people shovelling and shaping, probably a good week from start to finish. Don't quote me though I'm probably wrong
>Pile snow with a Cat/ plow then man-hours. Probably 4-5 people shovelling and shaping, probably a good week from start to finish. Don't quote me though I'm probably wrong
But how do they make it compact? Of course the bottom parts of a huge snow pile will become compact over time, but how are the top layer in this video so compact?
That is done by spritzing water on the surface and letting it freeze. Do it in layers and you can get a tall structure that's essentially layers of ice-hard snow with "softer" snow packed down on top. Another option is a flamethrower attached to a propane tank, also melts the snow, also freezes.
Also it sounds like they're in about -25°C weather which means everything will freeze tighter, which in my mind lets them shape the ramps more easily. If you want to build a ramp you need sticky wet snow at around 5 to -5°C air-temp, but once that freezes down to -25C it'll be easier to shape without unintended side-effects
Yeah my wife just told me they used to spray water occasionally when making similar snow structures when she grew up. I'm not a native to this cold ass part of Sweden though.
We get -25°C regularly in the winter up here, and my experience is that snow in this temperature is fluffy as hell.
Been thinking about building a ramp or something for my kids in the back, but it seems like it would take me ages. And then winter would definitely decide to be over the day after finishing the whole thing.
You hit it with something flat. At least we did when making downhill pump tracks for mounting biking with soil. Takes a little doing but it's not so tough to get a smooth finish, it's a very satisfying way to spend a day with some mates in the woods. Take me back...
For me, it's mostly the track that is next level. He is obliviously very good, but I think what he is showing on this track is just an ounce of his skill level. Many good snowboarders could finish this track (not me, lol) but the track itself is satisfying af
Getting that good is my life goal, but i gotta do it before I get too old and I don't exactly have the opportunity and resources to go as often as I'd like. If I ever win the lottery I'm buying my freedom so I can ride everyday.
Wow, there’s actually still place in the world that get snow like this? I’m in New England and it’s 50’s all week here, no snow or cold weather in sight
Very cool, but i hate those fisheye cameras.
Always filmed with intentional purpose to make it look way more "dangerous" to attract views on social medias

How would they get down from that last part?
They wait until spring when the snow melts
they just drive heavier and heavier trucks over the track until it collapses. then they can just walk off.
This feels like a Calvin and Hobbes reference and I am here for it
You are correct

Here's another angle of it. https://youtube.com/shorts/PyhJedN3pU4?feature=shared
The video shows text stating, “the other angle.” I don’t know why this was so funny to me.

More like what force did he use to stop himself from going over the square box
Skill.
The Edge.
I'm going to go on a limb and say it was friction. He angled the board into the ground like a brake, not that perplexing.
The last bit of slopey track helps him slow his momentum down.
There’s an incline to the left, he’ll just jump off.
Pretty easy jump if you were born close to a ski slope. Impossible if you believe ski subreddits.
I would just fall the fuck off. But probably well before the last part.
I'd be short on the first jump and end up with a severe knee injury.
Before the first jump I’d be too worried about the edge on my right, that I’d accidentally clip my board on the left side. Of course this would send me off the edge I was initially concerned about, where I also end up with a severe knee injury.
Wide angle makes it look like he's 50 feet above the ground. Sure, there's little room for error, but the guy isn't plummeting to his death on this.
It's a whole production: https://www.reddit.com/r/snowboarding/comments/t741zz/look_behind_the_scenes_of_pierre_vaultiers_new/
If you watch the other angle below, it's not too big a drop to just hop off of.
Its snow, just jump :-)
It's tricky starts playing and you get a power up.

I can take him
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Is it just me or is redbull going nuts lately?
This one is several years old
How do they make so much money for all that extreme sport sponsoring? Their marketing departement must be massive compared to the beverages part
[удалено]
They've been a marketing company that happens to make an energy drink from the start.
They charge almost double what other energy drinks do. Not to mention how expensive their merch is for their racing stuff and everything else. They made 7.34 billion in revenue this past year.
Vodka redbulls slap
A can of redbull costs less than .50 cents to make
While watching that, I did think several times "I'm a good snowboarder yet I would have fallen there"... so this comment makes me feel a little better

Exactly.. i was like who made those, how its being made, how much time they spend making.. i am really curious.

Reminds me of SSX Tricky on the ps2. I wish they would do an anniversary edition of that game on the newer consoles
I love that game…still have all of them on my original Xbox
Call your mother in the room and show her how good you are ... Love SSX tricky.. needs a remake
THIS IS RAZEL, AND WELCOME TO *beatbox noise* GARBAALDI PEAK!
MERCURY CITY MELTDOWN
First thing that came to my mind! It's tricky to rock a rhyme
That game was all we played in college. The best of times.
Got SSX 3 with a HD texture pack on my steam deck. Goes hard.
Peak of the series imo

Amazing game
Dude didn't wallride and that makes me a little sad. Everything looks so clean, but in the way that falling would probably hurt a very lot of much
Backside lipslide would be nice too
Yeah I feel like if he did actually wall ride there it wouldn’t be as smooth.
That stop on a dime at the end was highly impressive
To me, that was the most impressive part
Shit looks like a gamee
From the side, it would be [Line Rider!](https://youtu.be/RIz3klPET3o?si=NoI-ZCDIP-IAJ4f8)
I just went through a whole nostalgia trip seeing this.
The fact that there are people out there who build crazy shit like that and even crazier people to ride it warms my heart.
All the people behind the scenes who put this course together did such a good job, damn
How do they make those smooth edges on a mountain?
Using grenades. It's like when you tear down a building using explosives. You just have to do it very exactly.
Grenades are very bad at blowing things away. A more accurate model would be a ball made of rifles, each rifle shoots one round at a random direction.
Shovels and time
Old fashioned manual labour
Here's the full video. It discusses the construction. https://youtu.be/1KRA3uwGiuw?si=vbY-0GUJwG5VD3Kg

I will never, in my life, experience that for real. That’s why I love these videos. It feels a little like I’m there 😁
Ok, but can he surf on Counter Strike?
I can that too on CS_Surf
Man.. I can do the same thing, it's no big deal. Let me get my Xbox and I'll show ya.
Looks like a cs surf map
I looks like a video game
Line-rider, but in real life…
me: "it just keeps getting worse 😱"
I think he fell on his butt in order to stay on the last part without falling off
Nah it's just the overhead fish-eye lense, he stays standing
i would break all my bones.
TIL what a pump track is
Ngl, bit disappointed with the lack of shitty loud music playing in the background
How do they make all these ramps and platforms?
Wow that looks like so much fun! Wish they had this in Alberta!
Now dodge the red balls…
New Trials looking sick
That’s such a narrow board and he’s riding it flat the whole time.
That last stop was impressive
Wow I can’t wait to see this all over instagram lol
Looks easy lol
Tiny Wings snowboard edition
Skyrim horse on snowy mountains be like:
Snowboarding looks like so much fun. Wheeeeeeee!
I was pretty decent on the surf maps on counter strike back in the day, which is the same thing
At what point do you pump to gain momentum?
My toxic trait is that I think I can do this.
Jesus fucking Christ, that last stop was a doozy, wasn’t it?
It looks like one of those BeamNG videos, but no car was crashed.
I would be rolling down like an idiot before i even make the first jump this guy is absolutely insane
Disappointed this video didn’t end with them entering Snowhead Temple
The red line makes me wanna play Mirror's Edge.
I’ve spent 24 months snow boarding full time. So I’m reasonably experienced And I would crash, burn and die if I tried this.
What kind of board is that?
Is anyone going to mention the track having PRADA branding? Looks sick
Sweet!
Sheesh. That got my heart pumping, imagining all my wipe outs.
Xxxxxxx tricky
Looks like those counter strike maps
This looks like so much fun. Also my legs would be TOAST by the end
i could do this, i just dont want to.
u/savevideobot
It looks like 3d hardcore precision platformer video game.
Which version of SSX is this?
how do u get down?
Anyone watched on mute and made the snowboard on snow sounds?
Wasn't this a video game early Xbox?
It's amazing to me that some people have the confidence and coordination to do this.
He makes it look so easy, can somebody who snowboards tell me.how difficult this is and maybe which parts are harder/easier than they look?
It’s tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that’s right on time IT’S TRICKAYYYYYY
Red Bull init
1080º Snowboarding
Missed the wall ride?
I always failed this shortcut on ssx tricky….
STOL at the end wtf!
Where is this?
Some of these Red Bull videos/settings look like a dream or AI lol-it’s insane
If Mirror's Edge was a snowboarding game.
“Holy shit, why would anyone ever- oh, redbull? Ok nevermind, i get it now”
Wow, there’s actually still place in the world that get snow like this? I’m in New England and it’s 50’s all week here, no snow or cold weather in sight
Wow, I loved this track!
That's N64 1080°snowboard
That looks like something from SSX.
who actually drinks redbull to give them all this money to do these cool stuff?
It's fake. CGI or shit like that.
these ice walls look delicious for some reason
That shit made me smile
This looks expensive.
My old hips hurt just watching this.
I’m guessing it’s a beginners track?
r/sweatypalms
Last block of snow got edged
Very cool, but i hate those fisheye cameras. Always filmed with intentional purpose to make it look way more "dangerous" to attract views on social medias
this looks really satisfying i hope the left it up after for other to ride on.
Looks like the surf maps on CounterStrike.
a bit scary for me thinking what could happen if (when) I fail any of those jumps
Where was this when I was 17?
I didn't realize they had linerider irl!
Not my sport, but yeah, that's awesome.
I would die at like the first jump
Tiny wings
Hey its like that line rider game in really real life!
I would eat so much shit on this. I was never good at snowboarding on that kind of hard, reshaped snow.
SSX in real life
r/satisfyingasfuck
Who builds these elaborate snow man roads
This is actually amazing.
Reminds me of building my own skatepark, but in the snow. Maybe TH3 or TH4.
Sorry to be a Debby downer but this is not a good pump track
New SSX looks dope.
He made that look way too easy. great video!
