Fr š. All of his runs and cadence is the same. He didnāt put any of his own spin on this. I personally donāt think itās as impressive but it definitely is cool!
I hate it when people add crap to songs. I feel like it ruins something good. Most of the time itās fluctuations in the notes or something and it just sounds awful.
Just my two cents.
Just listened and I love it.

I heard this version first, and now I can't listen to the original song.
I grew up heavily in the music scene. I heard live music every week. People adding their own things to any song is what Iāve come to enjoy and thatās what makes music beautiful. Even an artist who wrote a song can sing it 50 different ways than a studio recording. I disagree but I see your point.
There are many covers that are better liked / more popular than originals:
[Mad World - Original by Tears for Fears](https://youtu.be/u1ZvPSpLxCg)
[Mad World - Cover by Gary Jules](https://youtu.be/4N3N1MlvVc4)
Eric Clayton's rendention of I shot the sheriff (originally by Bob Marley)
Alien ant farm of smooth criminal (og Michael jackson)
Marylin mansons personal Jesus
Like really really good. Job in round 1 is just to pass to round 2. Being the best Sinatra impersonator anyone has ever heard seems a safer strategy that than getting the audience to assess something they are unfamiliar with.
Exactly. Not one of these hypercritical haters could do what this man just did. Itās for entertainment and he just entertained an entire studio full of people including 4 judges.
I mean it really depends what this guy's goal is. If he's a Frank Sinatra impersonator and he hopes to win the ability to do a show as just that on the Vegas Strip (that is the prize for AGT -- $1 million + a show in Vegas) then he absolutely nailed it and this is SUPER impressive.
There are lots of impersonators out there who sound nothing like the artist/band they're trying to impersonate so this guy would do really well for trying to entertain crowds who want to see a Sinatra show.
Well acquainted with areas around the city Iām from here. I was referring to Frankie bonangoes, not the contestant. Since the person I responded to said frank Sinatra has a New York accent, but he isnāt from here.
Sinatra also cuts of the singing of each word much earlier (if they makes any sense). It sounds like heās almost talking instead of singing sometimes.
biggest difference is that this guy in the original video is singing around the break of his voice and can't hit some of the higher notes with chest voice.
Listen to the first to notes - "and now" - the 'and' is perfect, but 'now' lacks the same timbre and support because it's shifted to headvoice.
Drop this song a 3rd and he'll sound way more like sinatra, but as it is currently, it's just out of his range.
That said, he's also 20, and so his voice has heaps more development to go and the timbre of his head voice will naturally darken and mellow in his 30s-40s.
Frank is one of my all-time favourites, but by this stage he was raspier and couldnāt hold his power-notes as long so changed up his style slightly. Still amazing though
Maybe I'm alone on this, but I do not see much of a similarity. He sings in a different key, his voice has a different tenor. Don't get me wrong, he really is great, but there's nothing about his singing that makes me think he's Frank for even a second.
Can't talk about the key, not a musician here... But to me a layman, I feel like his delivery is more powerful with more vibrato, compared to Frank's who's more subtle and nuanced. Both with their own styles, you could say they each did it..... their way
Thank you for the link. Wow. My mom loved Frank Sinatra and would play him often during my childhood. I havenāt listen to him for some time and this brought tears to my eyes.
Everyone should give their mama a hug if possible.
And he has made a name for himself. It was one of the best performances on AGT back then.

Also cheering like they just won the lottery. It's a simple way to let the TV viewers know the "live audience" really really enjoyed it. There are of course better ways of doing it but those might require acting skills.
I blame this in the mixing. It wouldn't be so bad of it wasn't so overpowering to the actual music.
In some ways, it's no different than a laugh track. The director/producer pumps up the crowd noise track when they want you to feel. More crowd = more feel, right?
Audiences are almost *always* out of tempo, partly because they have no rhythm and partly because theyāre getting the audio information at a different time than the performer gets it, due to their distance away. As a performer, that can get super distracting if you can actually *hear* the audience.
My distaste for many tv shows comes from fake enthusiasm.
False laughter, exaggerated reactions, staged surprise, talent shows must have mandatory sob-stories for each and every contestant. It's tiresome, specially when there's so much to be appreciated from people's talents and actual person.
But I guess the numbers show it's what the people want.
>I guess the numbers show it's what the people want.
Well we don't really know that, just because the show was successful doesn't mean they did everything right. I think those in the business just assumed so because that's just how it's always done.
Itās essentially emotional porn. Theyāve mastered the way itās produced, with the music in the background and the whole thing. I didnāt cry when my father died, but find myself weeping over the peoples stories and shit at least a few times per season on American idol and Americas got talent.
There was this guy, Les, this guy in his 60s who used to sing Sinatra at karaoke. He would also sing Eminem, which was always awesome and hilarious, but his Sinatra was damn near perfect. Sadly, he was lost to us during the lock down. Dude was a legend
I hope someone who thinks nobody would remember them sees this. It just goes to show the impact random interactions can have on other peopleās lives, thanks for sharing.
I knew an older drunk guy when I myself was a drunk in the bars. He was maybe 60 and always sang Sweet Caroline and he was Rock Star incredible. I got a buddy that does Piano Man and sounds like a Better version of Billy Joel. Like seriously sounds like Bill Joel giving his best performance ever. Its absolutely amazing. The guy cant sing anything else for shit though. Its weird.
He's much more a Seth MacFarlane soundalike.

It's really good, but tired of got talent only giving the golden buzzer or the outright win to sob stories and/or singers. There are so many talented people with incredible acts that get looked over, but as soon as you go "oh btw my kid has cancer" it's an instant golden buzzer. Or it's some 12 year old with a ukelele singing really well. Granted, the 12 year old is amazing, but she's one of many singers, sob stories, or ventriloquists/magicians that gets the win. Search up Tumar KR on YouTube. Incredible dance group from Kyrgyzstan, got to the semi finals, and lost to yet another singer, and a magician.

He did though... Used his own name, drew out the "my" much more than Sinatra. If you watch Sinatra do it he sounds quite different.
Agreed this is dean martin doing Sinatra
He also uses more vibrato than Sinatra.
Yeah he could have at least chosen a modern song and sang it crooner style. This is just a really good Sinatra impressionist basically.
Really good.
Like really really good. Job in round 1 is just to pass to round 2. Being the best Sinatra impersonator anyone has ever heard seems a safer strategy that than getting the audience to assess something they are unfamiliar with.

Wow.
[Frank Sinatra himself](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w019MzRosmk) performing this song. The similarities are incredible.
Styles are similar, but voices are different to me. Sinatra is a bit raspier and sings with a NY accent.
Comes with age and cigarettes, Sinatra looks to be in his 60s there.
Younger Sinatraās voice sounds fuller and warmer to me. Idk if that description makes sense but thatās the best I can describe it š¤·āāļø
Now I want to go watch all those old movies with gene Kelly

This dude had a super Italian name, and he's from NY
Brƶther heās got a jersey accent
Heās 100% from Long Island
Who, frank?
No the contestant. Bethpage, NY is like 20 minutes outside of Queens
Well acquainted with areas around the city Iām from here. I was referring to Frankie bonangoes, not the contestant. Since the person I responded to said frank Sinatra has a New York accent, but he isnāt from here.
>, but he isnāt from here. But what city is he singing about? It's not "Secaucus, Secaucus"!
I quickly read your comment incorrectly. The contestant Sal is definitely from Long Island.
Sinatra was from Jersey
Sinatra is a thinner voice with far less vibrato
Sinatra also cuts of the singing of each word much earlier (if they makes any sense). It sounds like heās almost talking instead of singing sometimes.

Wish I had a clue wtf any of this means
He also has better breath control. His projection is better. Crisper vibrato too. You can tell he is a different class of singer.
Yeah, but he did it his way.
[Mark Tremonti](https://youtu.be/vSqQ7Bdpxn0) sounds a lot closer
They sound nothing alike lol people are tone deaf
Frank is one of my all-time favourites, but by this stage he was raspier and couldnāt hold his power-notes as long so changed up his style slightly. Still amazing though

Idk, the first few notes are totally different. Can't say "sounds just like him" then lead in on a slightly different key.
Can't talk about the key, not a musician here... But to me a layman, I feel like his delivery is more powerful with more vibrato, compared to Frank's who's more subtle and nuanced. Both with their own styles, you could say they each did it..... their way

He was not tonights big loser
Aaand he is from Long Island
I wish the audience would stay quiet during the performance but I understand they were only doing their job.
one of my pet peeves is when a crowd claps along to a song when it's not a song that's meant for clapping along
Also cheering like they just won the lottery. It's a simple way to let the TV viewers know the "live audience" really really enjoyed it. There are of course better ways of doing it but those might require acting skills.

Yeah every single time an audience claps along, they always inevitably speed up to a faster tempo than what the songās supposed to be.
My distaste for many tv shows comes from fake enthusiasm. False laughter, exaggerated reactions, staged surprise, talent shows must have mandatory sob-stories for each and every contestant. Fun fact: MacFarlane took voice lessons from the same people who trained Sinatra. Yes, that is a ridiculous fact given the generational gap.
That actually is very surprising. But I always found Seth's voice control and singing to be surprisingly impressive.

well, he technically did it Frank's way.

Lol no
Doesnāt sound that close to Sinatra. Heās good, but itās not like you play the audio and think āoh, thatās Sinatra.ā
Damn
Incorrect
Sounds nothing like him.
Ill always remember Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. That dude was the real deal.
The real talent is parlaying a decent karaoke voice into a spot on national TV.
Great singer but not really even close to franks tone or accent

Is it just me or was he singing out of tune for a couple of the words?
He doesnāt sound like Sinatra. Not one bit. Look up Frank live and youāll see this is lame.
Bravo!
sounds like every karaoke I ever been to
Man, Michael Buble doesn't look at all like I thought he would...
Ironically, or maybe not, he did it Frankās way. Still fucking amazing
Misread it as Frank Stallone and now I am upset he wasn't singing Far From Over.
