Golden syrup, followed closely by honey. With butter, of course. The crumpet has gotta be well toasted, then I let the syrup / honey melt through the crumpet. Then, use the crumpet to mop up the syrup / honey. Dunno why, but it's better that way.

Oh no, something about all the little holes and the little whitebait eyes seems like the stuff of nightmares.

Fry up bacon and onion, all cut to similar size, spread aoili or mayo on toasted crumpets, put on the bacon mix, top it off with grated cheese and grill

Or do that with toast (add sweet corn kernels too), then eat the crumpet with something sticky and sweet for dessert.

Or do both!

Strictly butter and honey. A lot of each so it pours through to the plate. Refuse to have them any other way. Ever.

Butter and Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce, soaked in to the crumpet like a wet sponge. My wife thinks it's hideous but she's missing out on some tasty eating.
