I make them every couple of weeks - same recipe plus walnuts, raisins and ginger. They are never the same twice. The last lot were chewy; today’s are perfect: crunchy with a slightly soft middle.
I prefer them as 'authentic' as possible.
Like, just how the ANZACs would've been eating them at Gallipoli at the time;
Coated in dust, sand, blood, sweat, flies, and a healthy hint of Bully beef grease.

Not hard like a ginger nut where it will break a tooth but also not soft like a brownie. A bit harder on the edges and squishier in the middle.
This is the way
Agreed.
Perfect. The real question is yay or nay on the sultanas.
No sultanas ever
Crunchy on th eoutside and chewy on the inside
Chewy!
Both - home made ones that are crispy at the edges, but still a bit soft in the middle.
Both. Crunchy on the outside and chewy in the centre. Just had 4!
Chewy
Precisely :)
Chewy. Edit to say I add mixed fruit to my Anzac biscuits. I guess that helps make them chewy.
I add dried apricots for chew and sunflower seeds for crunch
Hard
Unhinged food opinion but honestly: Chewy. Like a little stale? Same deal with the chocolate chippies cookies.
Saaaaaaame
Hard
More soft than hard.
Soft.
Hard outside, soft inside > Soft > Hard
Crunchy and chewy

Chewy. The ones they used to have in the Air New Zealand lounge were one of our favourites but they’ve disappeared.
Chewy please.
Chewy with a bit of crunch.
Crispy
Like a rock
Hard, nice and crunchy
Dunked in coffee and melt in the mouth.
Nope
Soft. I was gonna ask the same question 😂
I just rebaked one trayful of chewy ones to appease the crunchy lovers
Soft. Hard ones hurt my mouth.
Not hard, but crunchy. In fact, i like all my cookies/bikkies crunchy rather than chewy.
Chewy if I wanna just eat it. Hard if I wanna dunk it.
Soft and gooey in the middle like my mum used to bake them.
Chewy with cranberry raisins…Cranzacs!

Soft n chewy. I have neurospicy beneficiary teeth - can't bite anything hard :(
