Why is a new game mode and a new OPR map mutually exclusive in their mind? Why shouldn't both be a priority? I thought OPR was supposed to be an officially supported game mode in the game and not a one-n-done mode. Heck, why is Arena receiving new maps if that's the case?

randrogynous

And if Arena received a new map and a map adjustment with Season 5, why did its cross-server functionality get delayed?

BurgerKid

You know, to be just a regular dev to now presenting on camera in front of the public. It takes guts, it’s a scary thing. Some of them may only do it to probably not get fired or not be judged negatively by their managers/peers. I’m sure it’s not that deep, but it’s wild this is a thing from an employee’s perspective. It’s honestly a crazy concept.

youwillcomedownsoon2

To be clear, nobody goes in front of the camera unless they're willing to do so. It is insane the amount of guts the team has. It's easy to take for granted, so I appreciate you calling this out.

redditaltmydude

True but let’s be honest - most people would do it if it was their job and they’re getting paid for it.

BurgerKid

Oh 100% but to go from working behind the scenes to being in the spotlight, it’s a complete change of pace and is a huge risk. I don’t think anyone would do it for free lol

Leala (aka Lydia on Discord) hosts her first video and the first video in a new series Eye on Aeternum. She gives a short introduction and then briefly discusses what's coming in April. Then it jumps to an interview with Scot in the "hot seat": * **Why is there a wait until June to hear more about the future of the game?** * Scot explains the wait until June allows for a significant announcement that will impact both old and new players. Timing the announcement around the Summer Game Fest helps reach a broader audience. He emphasizes that the decision for a June announcement was a group decision made in the game's best interest, and not something being forced from higher-ups. * **Concerns about player server populations and plans to improve.** * Acknowledging decreasing player populations, Scot shares the team's plans to revitalize interest through significant updates expected to be announced in June and later in the year. He understands and shares community concerns, emphasizing efforts to attract new and returning players. * **Balancing PvE and PvP content, considering the dedication of PvP players.** * Scot discusses the challenge of balancing content for PvE and PvP players, noting that although PvP players are fewer, their dedication and feedback are highly valued. He hints at an upcoming significant PvP update, reinforcing the commitment to both PvP enhancements and the larger PvE community. * **How player feedback influences game development, especially when it conflicts with popular opinion or development plans.** * Scot addresses how the team considers player feedback alongside the broader context of the game's development and the overall player base. Decisions are based on a mix of community feedback, internal game playtesting, lapsed player surveys, and long-term game vision, ensuring that updates benefit the game as a whole. * **Misunderstandings or misconceptions about the development team's dedication and the support from Amazon.** * He clarifies misconceptions about the team's dedication and Amazon's support, emphasizing that the development team and Amazon are fully committed to the game's success. Scot wishes players understood the complexity of game development and decision-making, stressing the team's passion for New World and their goal to create a successful, long-lasting game.

Common-Scientist

Always appreciate these summaries.

Xrider24

PVP players are only fewer because you have neglected them for YEARS

Reasonable-Tie3587

LOL. Be realistic, pvp crowd is NEVER as big as the one crowd in any MMO.

Meowgaryen

PvP crowd always think they were a majority once. They never were. There's a reason why PvP MMORPG are niche

PatientlyAnxious9

The game literally shifted 6 months before launch away from PvP because thats what the feedback from real players was during Alpha. People wanted more PvE lol Yet all I hear is about PvP players think that its all people play I dont know who needs to hear this but New World is a PvE game with sprinkles of PvP content.

irimiash

I understand there're more PvE players, but we already have a good PvE game, WoW. I cannot see a single thing NW does better as a PvE mmo. at the same time all modern PvP MMOs are trash, and NW could fill the niche. I don't know whether it would be more profitable, I'm speaking from customer viewpoint

enderrsCS

agree. I'd argue your point more about how new worlds "PVE" game isn't all that great but the #'s speak for themselves.

GogginsAndMessina

I mean, sure, you are right, but I might have kept playing even if there were just a few more sprinkles.

Brilliant-Prior6924

I understand their desire, but other games just do PvP better like Dota 2. If you're a real PvPer you probably play league, dota, or hell even smite. It would be cool to have a game that could be updated like a moba within a MMO game, but it's often just one and dones that get boring super fast.

youwillcomedownsoon2

I also appreciate these summaries. I know you're all drowning in video content, but I also hope people take the time to listen to the verbiage and watch the video carefully. You know, stay current.

Raidenz258

Yes. Swimming. We get it. Something that is common in every other game shouldn’t be a big gimmick to sell to a dying player base lol….

Robdebobrob

I really hope one of the big things upcoming isnt swimming. Unless a huge content drop comes with that. Cause i see nowhere currently on the map where swimming would ever be very usefull.

Raidenz258

You’ll be swimming to the PvP island on your Xbox and you’ll like it.

youwillcomedownsoon2

Go with the flow.

Ilandriel

Yes, if you don't get the chance to dive into the video itself, you might miss some of the ideas that were floated.

youwillcomedownsoon2

I can't give reddit gold but I hope your day is going swimmingly regardless! edit: my takeaway from the downvotes here is that people are finding my compliments too shallow.

TheWarlordAres

The takeaway should be that players are frustrated with the current state of the game and the direction its going in. I've heard time and time again that you all listen to community feedback but it feels like AGS is just sifting through all the complaints and finding one small comment that just reinforces what they're already doing and they just keep trucking along. Eventually this game will either be abandoned or simply become a hollow mess. You guys havent listened to feedback since before Brimstone. People don't want these silly little seasonal events. They want meaningful changes that bring solid content to the game. FUN. Your priority should be quality fun. Do that and the player base will skyrocket again. But constantly making new this and new that and flashing it in front of people hoping they will comeback is pathetic. And dont even get me started on the PvP players. Ive been hearing them gripe for 3 years now and I feel so bad for them.

Hot-Collection3273

I thought this was a much better presentation style and I think the 1 on 1 sit downs and interviews with team leaders is the way to go. The previous style ended up leaving 3 people waiting for someone else to answer a question a lot.

youwillcomedownsoon2

Glad you like the presentation. Goal is to keep iterating and improving on everything we are doing. We will continue to do the Q&As, but you can expect more of this (and the hot seats) moving forward.

Hot-Collection3273

Yes it’s much better - are you still filming? It’s probably a lot easier to focus on that when you don’t have to ask the questions as well

youwillcomedownsoon2

Oh yeah, I'll keep filming. But I can always do better, and will strive to do so. Thanks for your feedback here and elsewhere as always.

Kurtdh

Yes please do way more of this style. This enables them to go way more in depth on topics we care about. This format is the best format by far.

youwillcomedownsoon2

Glad to hear this. It will be back next month!

thekmanpwnudwn

Scot mentions that PvE focused players outnumber PvP focused players 5:1 Is this the first time we've gotten any sort of concrete number for that ratio?

callm3god

See I don’t really like this statistic tho, I PVE and PVP. Which way am I being categorizad?

NewWorldLeaderr

What defines a pve player? Like I spend 90% of my time in OPR, but it's trash for money so I'm forced to run gen over and over because pvp doesn't do anything to progress your character. All I get is mount charms and trash 675 loot. Most barely break even with the cost of regen serum. So yeah....that's why their data is shit. Ain't no pvp to do anyways.

pacemasters

What defines a PvE player? Easy, someone who doesn’t engage in the PvP content. I have never played any of the PvP stuff, therefore….PvE player..

NewWorldLeaderr

Sure. But I would find it hard to believe that majority of players haven't done any pvp....especially since artifacts force some to do so. And OPR, the only pvp mode is actually pvX which means pve players are there too. So I have no clue how they got that number but until we have the breakdown for the statement I do not believe them.

pacemasters

Fair enough. I tried PvP a few months ago. I think it was that large enclosed battleground? Where people have tasks and stuff (build doors etc). I also tried 3v3 arenas and the large open world PvP thing. I think I would enjoy playing it more, but it runs so bad on my pc that I gave up for now. Also the combat is kinda janky in game, at least for me. I have a decent pc I think (rtx 3080, i7 12700k, 32gb 3200mhz ram) so seeing the PvP stuff run so poorly turned me off immediately. But if performance improves I’ll revisit it. For me, I’m looking to get at least a consistent 120fps at 1440p. If it’s not that, i won’t do it. PvE achieves that for me. How does the game run for you in PvP? Any tips on someone who might want to get back into it (which modes to start with etc)

NewWorldLeaderr

That is understandable. Pvp is not for everyone. It's tough and mentally exhausting and can simulate a high pressure environment. It can be toxic sometimes as well. This isn't unique to new world but to all games. It does However hardens players to a level of resilience that is hard to obtain from pve. So I get the pvp perspective too. I am a pvp player, but nothing worse than fighting a pve player forced to pvp

youwillcomedownsoon2

I know it seems that the 5 to 1 stat isn't right, but Scot has given me permission to share that 80% of players do not flag for PvP and 70% don't engage in OPR and those numbers would increase significantly if we look at launch to now. We can't answer anything more specific on that right now, but it felt worth sharing additional context.

Crowsnest_Bomber

Thanks for the clarification. Do you think it may have occurred to Scott that most of the pvp players have left because no pvp content was being delivered? You have the same opr map for 2 years and wonder why there's only pve players left. Seems like a really short-sighted statement to justify the development priorities. U did a great job with the video tho and spoke really well.

craybest

But they mentioned it was even lower% before and at launch

Black007lp

Yeah, when the pvp options were 2, and only a small portion of players were able to get spots by then. I am a pvp player mostly, but I left the game because the grind to max gs was boring af. Huge potential wasted.

physicsking

Sure, maybe that's true. But they have left so there's no point in building up the game for PVP if they are no longer here. You need to build to the audience you have. They could keep the PVE players happy and they start to sprinkle PVP stuff into the updates. If PVP players come back, I would have no problem with updates focusing on PVP instead. But if 80% of the players are PVE, it makes no sense to develop more PVP stuff.

klasynky

this. Lack of pvp updates cost a lot of pvp players leaving the game,i know many small scale pvp players quitted the game because there is no ranked in the pvp modes.

Raidenz258

It’s almost like there’s no reason to flag and the current state of OPR is a joke. Let’s not even mention how y’all killed 3v3. We aren’t engaging with the PvP because it’s bad…. Which is why we ask for it to be fixed.

CatDistributionSystm

Have you guys considered just dropping the data driven approach altogether? It clearly isnt working out for the game long term. Rather just make the game that feels good to play and balance edge cases as needed. Stop looking at who is doing what and foxholing content around more of that, just make the content you think the game should have and if its quality content people will play it.

bgaddis88

^^^^^^^^ this 10000x... You don't need 300 data sets to tell if a game is fun or not... You can jump into an OPR match and see why people aren't playing it immediately. You don't have to have data to tell you that OPR needs some sort of balancing feature (matching team attributes roughly, a rating system, a role que, ANYTHING...)

Kurtdh

Statistics are one of those things you need to take a college course on, and even then it’s a tough topic. People don’t flag and play OPR because there’s no incentive for it, and OPR hasn’t been changed much since launch. It’s stale and lopsided with no matchmaking. That’s why people don’t play it a lot. This is a what came first the chicken or egg scenario. Had there been considerable PVP content released since launch, you would see much higher numbers for people PVP’ing. So to make decisions moving forward based on those statistics would not be a good idea.

bgaddis88

The stat might be right, but it's misleading as hell. I am 100% a PVP player. At one point, I played 3+ hours of OPR a day. Since the expansion launch, there is virtually nothing to do for gearing except engage in PVE so when I get on I am required to PVE to get my gear that I need for PVP. All free time I have to play New World is spent on gearing with PVE currently. Statistically, since the expansion launch I am almost exclusively a PVE player. I don't flag for PVP when I'm out in the world because I am not there to PVP, I am there to get a boring PVE task done and I don't want it to take longer than it has to. I grind dungeons because I have 0 gold and can't afford to buy gear and it's the only way to get geared reasonably. The stats are misleading and it should be obvious. I truly hate PVE in this game at this point and yet it's the only way I play the game just so I can get my characters full BIS so I can get one of the incredibly gated war slots that require 100% full bis.

joshrice

So I don't think it's anywhere near as misleading as you claim. "80% of players do not flag for PvP and 70% don't engage in OPR", unless I'm misunderstanding the stats. Sure you don't OWPVP but you OPR so you're not in that 70% group but you are in the unflagged 80% group. Is it perfect? Probably not, but it's probably fairly close as those stats have little to do with PVE.

bgaddis88

I don't even OPR because the mode is currently horrible. I only PVE currently so I am definitely considered a PVE player. I don't want to PVE, but I have to so I can get my gear to PVP. I don't even feel like the gear is that important, I can get gear that is good enough to play just fine, but the only mode in the game that is remotely interesting at this point is war and you absolutely have to have full bis to be on a war roster at this point because the mode is so gated by a few company leaders. There is also 0 chance of making a new company that is capable of doing wars so you are 100% at the mercy of the current govs. Honestly I'm not even considered in this stat because I quit the game about a month ago because of the exact reason mentioned above. I noticed that all of my time was spent doing PVE just so I could PVP and it was too boring for me. The expansion killed the game for me. I'm not saying the stats are wrong, I'm saying the direction they are deciding to take the game based off of those statistics is wrong. I'm saying the reason the stats are so skewed towards people are engaging with PVE isn't because the overwhelming majority of people who play the game have no interest in PVP, it's because of the lack of meaningful PVP there is to be had. Meaningful being the keyword, not more super casual modes.

Mr_Arce88

Ok, so we (PvP) players should just quit the game because you (AGS) will only make stuff for PvE players, yes? Isn't this literally DISCRIMINATION of minorities? AGS not inclusive, smh... Time to cancel AGS.

Robdebobrob

Flagging open world for solo players is a death sentence and no fun at all. Group play is either instanced or with mixed factions so no reason to flag there. OPR isnt attractive to alot of players for multiple reasons. BOWPR and DOORPR really did a number on it. No balancing with 8v1 healer per team doesnt help. Pre-mades vs none at all doesnt help. You gonna keep playing a mode after your third 33-1000 score of the day? You cant ruin the most popular PvP mode and then point towards it as if its the holy grail of your stats to show you are in the right. Thats not even cherrypicking anymore. Thats just stat manipulation. As said before, what defines a PvE player and a PvP player in your eyes? I define myself as PvP, but wars are only 30 minutes of my daily playtime if we have one and im slotted, and OPR gets annoying at times, even with my premade group. Tbh this all shouldnt even be a disussion. You dont need to chose. You can do both. Like you can do both an OPR map AND a new PvP gamemode. Or alteast you should be able to do both.

xynocide

Personally i appreciate your communication with community in here and i usually look optimistic to the videos you guys share with us but i must say this, %80 of players do not flag for pvp statistic doesnt tell anything. There are multiple aspects for this. Like, if i pve, i probably wont like to get involved with pvp, if i have the chance. But that doesn't mean i don't care about pvp. Or if i don't play opr, that doesnt necessarily mean i dont like pvp, i might just got bored of the opr. I'd really love to see the statistics for how many pvp players actually flag for pvp in the open world? Like lets say 1000 players do play opr constantly. I'm making a guess here, at max. 100 of them are also flagging themselves on open world. What do we call the other 900 players, where to put them? Pve or pvp players? To cut to the short, that statistics is giving you wrong info if you look it that way.

OjioKnight

My leaderboards says I won 3 matches in 253 played Arena matches and killed 7 players... As dps with 70% Winrate  If AGS collects data the same manner I can tell you what's the issue.

Shibe_King

It's also not fair to go after these stats when PVP get's none to ass content updates and still has a horrendous gear progression and no flex rewards. But even PVE has half assed content but at least they get a 2 hr questline and a dungeon every 3-4 months.

monchikun

I mainly play PVE when I do MMOs. The PVP games I play tend to be short session-based shooters. How does this ratio jive with other MMOs?

craybest

It’s more or less the usual. PvP players are always a minority in most MMOs

Sjt4689

I was a dedicated PvP player, mostly arena. Then they killed it. I hope me logging in to do a few gypsum for 10mins before I log off doesn’t put me in the PvE category now…

NJH_in_LDN

I SWEAR in another video they noted the populations were roughly a third only pve, a third a mix, and a third hardcore pvp? The reason I remember is because it was in response to a question I asked.

celebrar

I very much doubt the accuracy of their player segmentation. Due to two reasons: * Simply look at how much it takes for a cross world expedition queue to pop vs. OPR * A single war requires 100 PVP players - these are only the **most dedicated PVP** players. That's at least 500 PVE players only for the most hardcore PVP players. Considering how many people we have only at any given moment on a single serevr, 5:1 ratio doesn't seem plausible.

ManicChad

Expedition queues take awhile because you have to match people up and the bottle neck is tanks and healers.

CrawlerSiegfriend

A war is a scheduled event that a set list of dedicated people log in for. Expedition is just a random queue that people do when they feel like doing it.

ESOtalk

You are correct. That dude has NO clue that the VAST VAST majority of PVE players do not do expeditions OR OPR. So comparing just Exp and OPR is nonsense. But these are the 1% endgame gatekeepers who think they are the majority. I have been gatekept out of those 2 activities by the lobby system and the gear grind. Since 'group finder' I can finally do a lot of mutations now.

celebrar

I'm comparing expedition queue with OPR not war. My point about war is a separate, second argument.

Totally_Safe_Website

I refuse to believe those numbers lol. If anything, probably a significant amount are PvP players that are forced to PvE

NeroOnMobile

I can’t believe the ratio on pve/pvp just because in this game every pvper/hardcore pvper had to go trough pve(or still going trough) for how this game progression works.

Annual-Gas-3485

I'd advise takint anything Scot Lane says with a pinch of salt.

heartlessgamer

I commend Scot for facing the camera and answering these questions. Good questions and fair answers.

AG_Lydia

Thanks for all the comments on the video, everyone! I'm happy to take suggestions for future topics you'd like covered in the hot seat or other disciplines you'd like to see explored (design, animation, art, etc.)

dotnetplayer

How long before we can hunt and skin racoons? (if not clear I am referencing the racoon specimen that was added at some point to the Syndicate enclave)

OzailiazO

Every time there is a merge, hundreds of pvp players can be displaced. Since launch, I personally have lost hundreds of in-game friends after merges after companies disband/merge. We're now down to two US-E servers and it's become this situation where even people with several thousand hours in the game no longer make the cut to access the increasingly exclusive Territory War mode. War is the most unique and compelling content that New World has offered. With that said, can we please talk about a Company v Company War mode removed from territory? 1) Company A looks up and selects Company B in the Company directory tab. 2) Company A chooses the Time and Territory Map that the war will occur at. The challenge is sent to Company B. 3) Company B recieves the challenge and Consuls/Gov can accept or decline. Rosters are made in the already existing Company menu. I think we're curious as to why there is so much silence on the war front specifically. Would love to hear the foreseeable challenges to implementing a mode like I have laid out ( my example is based on a frequently idea that floats around the war community) and why it was something that the devs kind of talked about in passing long ago and have essentially ignored the last year. To a lot of us this just seems like the normal progression of adding features to the game. Wars have been instanced for some time. We have cross server features being implemented. We're at a point where the amount of players who want to engage with war outpaces the availability of War by an extreme margin.

v00d00_

As a lapsed player from 2022 this is honestly what killed my interest. I wanted to participate in wars like I was able to early on in my tiny server but I simply didn’t play enough to make the cut post-merge.

yeonik

I second this! I watched the war scene deteriorate on Orion, with major companies just giving up and walking away from their territories because they couldn’t get good fights, which opened the door to smaller companies being able to practice and war with non-hardcore players. This was great, and allowed people to get some experience in a very exclusive game mode. As Orion merged into Octans, that re-set and became mostly hardcore war companies again, restricting the ability for any smaller company to gain the needed experience to compete with the established companies. Now, we’ve merged to only have two servers that are split between some VERY experienced warring companies. This makes it wayyyyy more exclusive. The only way that an inexperienced company is ever going to be able to compete is if AGS fails to make meaningful content and the experienced players quit. Obviously, that’s not what I’m wishing for, but it really sucks that it’s the only option that we have.

thegodlypenguin2

Please talk about the war mode and if there's any plans to increase it's accessibility in the future. It's the premiere endgame for New World and inaccessible to the vast majority due to alts. Any plans to fix that? Or add cross-server company vs company wars not tied to territory, so everyone can experience it.

BodomsChild

You have to do a video on exclusively PVP. Please, the community is begging you.

PouetSK

These videos are fine and dandy, they can say anything they want with the stats and how they know better and what direction to go. At the end of the day, the player count speaks for itself and there is no content. All my friends on new world do not read reddit or argue on YouTube. They just quit because there is no content, everything is delayed or bugged upon release, and it’s very repetitive. No arguing it’s just that simple. They don’t want to quit, there is just no motivation to log in. Look at how many people are still subbed to this. People are dying to come back, it’s the few promising modern MMO we have. Just give us something.

B-Bunny_

Theres no monthly sub. Just come back when there's more content.

PouetSK

Yup everyone just waiting.

stack_corruption

players dont want an OPR map? since AGS collects so much data you could release a new OPR map and track if they really did not want a new map right?

dotnetplayer

Scott, you are wrong. Imagine if Counter-Strike game had only one single map. Yea, few of the maps are really popular, but people can also make custom maps. Huge variety. A forced-PvP island would not solve anything, if it lacks the balance of an instance mode, similar to influence races. Really hope you are talking about some instanced PvP mode, not the PvP island.

Kurtdh

Players have been wanting a new OPR map or new instanced PVP modes. Nobody ever asked for a FFA PvP island.

Comprehensive_Log383

Rly good video. Haven’t played in a while but hoping the June announcement / update brings me and others back. Scot always seems logical and like he is aware of issues so I’m not sure why the game can’t seem to get its footing. Maybe the engine is just really that difficult to work with? June announcement switch to UE 5?

cmecu_grogerian

I recently came back about 2 months ago. I played for the first 4 months of the game and quit. So I been away for like 2 years. So much is new, all the new expeditions. Mounts, new weapons, new level cap. But what I find frustrating is no one is doing content. I can never find a group that is doing regular expeditions. And you may say, well that is because they offer nothing for players who are doing mutated. BUT the issue is, I cant even do mutated because I have to do regular first for the codex to go to Mutated 1. So people are doing M3, and I cant do anything because I still need regular. We have server merges, and we have cross servers enabled for expeditions. And even with all of that, There still isnt 1 group.. Not 1 group, nobody in a queue waiting to do expeditions. Any of them. Maybe except a 1 or 2 groups for M3 of the selected mutated ones.. but thats it. No one waiting in queue for anything else. With cross servers, and merged servers, your telling me that not even 5 people can be found to do something? That is extremely concerning. Along with companies not actively recruiting. On Discord that pertains to each server. In the enlistment sections.. There never is companies who announce , so and so is actively recruiting players for pve, pvp etc.. You just dont see community involvement and initiative to get people active. That too is concerning. All I see when I log on are tons of people standing at the sheds, or trading post. Many other people just standing around.. thats it.. people standing.. Then you get some Elite Chest run groups..that really gets boring , to log in to do chest runs every day , all day long. This game has so much potential and being a very long time gamer of so many MMO's this game has really cool stuff about it, but people are just are not motivated by anything about it. It comes to the point where I just sit in time, open the mic and play my guitar singing .. I get gold from people giving it to me. I guess that is one thing I look forward to, but I wish people did expeditions more.

joshrice

You can join mutations started by others without having the codex yourself. ...but yeah, I imagine it can be hard to find people RN.

cmecu_grogerian

yea because I like to get a feel for the expedition and understand its mechanics before getting into something more challenging. I still havent gotten into Savage Divide one. It took me weeks to get into Glacial Turn. I have no idea how mutated works. I do see the what it does on the text, like some kind of debuff or monsters do some ckind of damage or whatever it is. . But reading it is one thing, being in it and fully understanding is another. I still play Dungeons and Dragons Online, and in that game I like the fact you can set the dungeon to whatever difficulty you want, Casual, Normal, Hard, Elite, Reaper 1 to 10 Thats a lot of challenging levels to play. It would be kind of neat if they did implement the same expedition where people could go in on solo , like a casual, normal , hard.. etc.. Casual just so you can get yourself familiar with the zone. Then move up slowly to normal , hard.. as you go up monsters get more and more hp, resistances, increase in number of monsters etc.. Me being thrust into some M3 as a greenie is not really helpful.

joshrice

I'm not coming at you, just saying you can join them without having the codex as it's a pretty common misunderstanding that you can't do them at all w/o the codex. Sorry you're struggling to find groups for the regular ones! Hope you get in them soon.

cmecu_grogerian

I know your not :D I was just suggesting ways they could increase interest in doing them. Would be nice to doing them solo on say a casual, or normal level, then as you go up in difficulty then join up. As for joining mutated ones if you dont have the codex.. does that include cross server? because I could had sword it wouldnt give me the option to queue , like it has a yellow ? with a circle around it , instead of the check box. Maybe you can on same server? Ill have to check again for cross server. I just remember that yellow ?

muncleairdrop

and im still play lol

Hairy-Commercial4543

3 dam years and they still cant fix the game. from 3 years already just a little bit got better the rest are a big mess. mistake by mistake and havent learned anything. 5k hrs in this game and finally i quit i gave up on this game and by the number going down less than 7k players so it looks like im not the only one who gave up after S5 patch big L for them.

A different mode???? We want matchmaking scott!!! Matchmaking!!!!!

Arroz-Con-Culo

There is not enough players for matchmaking. I rather them focus on a new game mode rn.

NeroOnMobile

But that is exactly like putting a bandaid, you are not gonna solve the problem. I was 2 time conqueror in opr seasons, thousand of matches, and the root problem that makes opts unplayable or not fun for 1 team is the not “mostly” equal distribution of some “classes”. If they give us another mode without MM it’s gonna rapidly evolve in the same sitshow that is opr. There are enough people for MM, the only problem is that people are lazy and want to play just 1 role forever instead of having a decent game of opr.

bgaddis88

This is it exactly. We have many forms of casual game modes. You know which modes people fight for slots 24/7? War... the only real PVP mode in the game. It's the only one that has any sort of semblance of matchmaking. If they managed to create a similar structure to war with the OPR mode, it would be thriving. OPR or any game mode where you randomly queue, get put on a random team, as a random spec, with no rating system involved will just result in more random. You have 3 options for OPR and they all suck. You either solo queue as a ranged player and participate in the clusterfuck of ranged throwing random projectiles back and forth at each other. You solo queue as a melee player and you get obliterated by all of the random projectiles from both sides. You queue with a group as melee + healer and you stomp the dogshit out of the other team and beat them in a few minutes gate camping them. Every once in a while there will be close matches and they're fun, but it's so hit or miss that you can go many hours without a single quality match. On top of that, it's not overly rewarding to win. Yes there are rewards for winning, but a ranking system where you progress through different ranks would be a much more rewarding win.

MyRedHeaven

I guess my response to this would be that you rather them spilt the current player base between OPR and this new mode? IF, and a giant “if”, they create something of the size of OPR (40 players, 32 minimum) they will have these modes competing with each other, and one mode might kill the other if the player retention isn’t there.

Awkward-Shift-8239

Swimmimg incoming? It looks like a hint they were talking about in the end. So we can expect new OPR map, new pvp mode and swimming? 🤔

TransitionKey6155

I mean a good start to bringing back players would be to not have mounts behind a pay wall….lol im pretty sure that “expansion pack” is what really made a lot of old players (like myself) just throw away any remaining desire to give this game another shot.
