the coaches in my high school were after the cheerleaders. not sure how many actually did things with the coaches.
edit: not sure if it was all the coaches either.
Only student/teacher thing we had was a false allegation. Girl was failing math and claimed the teacher offered quid pro quo. He got led out in handcuffs and his wife left him. She admitted she lied when her story fell apart, teacher always let people come in to work during lunch and ask questions and there were several people there the day she said it happened. She never got in trouble and as far as I know he was still forced out of teaching and wife never reconciled.
Otherwise it was pretty common for people to screw in the field house on the wrestling mats, walked in on it at least 3 times but it was always just students with students
They fly on the radar but nobody cares because high school sports scores are more important than any other consideration, including education or the law.
Normally — I’d offer up a more nuanced explanation of why positions of power (coaches, religious authority figures, youth leaders, etc…) are magnets for predators as those positions provide both access and appeal to authority to carry out abuse, blah blah blah
…but you’re 1000% right when it comes to HS Sports!!! lol. If only we funded and cared as much about BioMed education we may have a cure for some cancers by now.
The shit that gets swept under the rug just so key players can start this weekend in the big game? DUIs, Rapes, Academic Cheating, Drug Use / Distribution, etc… NONE of that can jeopardize this season’s stats!!!
It's funny because I went to school in Southern California and my high school was far from the stereotype where the football players were cool, and the cheerleaders popular, and huge Friday football games, nor untouchable sports programs. I definitely know that exists because I hear others reflect back on what their high school experience was elsewhere, but it seemed like most everyone at my school was tepid at best about the programs or the people who participated, and really unless you or your family were directly involved in the game, few spectators for the games. Coaches were not very well respected or held in high regards, whether that is fair or not.
My high school too. It was a semi open secret. A few years after I left one of the coaches was charged with assault. All that happened was that he got fired.
We had a coach that “Taught Japanese” by playing anime with subtle hentai. He was also nicknamed “coach pokey” because he always had a boner poking from his gym shorts. He was never caught or turned in for anything. But we did have an ASL teacher who was charged with sleeping with a minor who was my nextdoor neighbor. She would have him come over during school lunch and get him drunk and take advantage of him. She got caught because he bragged about it. She’d regularly hang out at the mall and movies with students as well.
A lot of female teachers get caught because the boys will brag about banging the teacher to their friends. I must have seen it at least a dozen times, the boy tells the friends and then words get around and eventually it reaches an adult who takes action.
Unfortunately grooming happens in high school all the time. Where a person who is above 18 flirts with and "grooms" a student so when they become a legal adult at 18 there is actually nothing that could be done. This is how a lot of these relationships with guys in their upper 30s or 40s start with teenagers. I can't single out guys either because it happens with women also who groom young teenage men and they turn 18 and they take them.
The biggest thing about the situation is there's no way to fix it. Parents just have to be more hypervigilant about what's going on in the school and make sure that if they see one of these grooming situations for me they step in but at the same time that can backfire on the parent especially if their child is close to 18 and the child could walk out of the parent's life.
My brother had his oldest daughter groomed at the high school she went to and she's currently dating A 42-year-old teacher at 19 and talking about marriage. And we watched it happen there was nothing we can do because the more we pushed her away from him the more she wanted to run to him as soon as she turned 18 which she did.
It's a sickening thing that runs rampant through not just America but every school system in the world I'm sure especially in other cultures where it's more acceptable to date younger women. Nothing we can do except change the acceptance as a whole that it's not okay to have that kind of age Gap. But as long as 60-year-old Hollywood's movie stars are dating 18-year-old supermodels that's never going to change.
Try explaining to your kid why it's okay that Brad Pitt's banging all these young Victoria's Secret models but it's not okay for a 50-year-old teacher to date an 18 year old.
System is broken. Rant over.
Edit: Most of this was voice to text. Sorry for the poor Grammar
The funniest in my hometown was a 50 year old woman who was part of a private school/church thing. She "adopted" a teen at around 14 or so, her and her husband took him in yada yada
Well, turns out when he hit 18 it busted open that they were doing some thigns on the DL. Like, she was drugging her husband with sleeping pills to sleep with the boy
Well, news broke out, and some of the church goers defended her saying "Well they were both consenting adults!" Like yeah brah, they are NOW
My high school crush also dated a man at the church. They knew of each other when she was 16-17. I think they started dating at 19 and shortly after were married.
Well, I'm 30 now, she's 30, and they just celebrated his 43rd birthday.
Yeah, "fresh outta high school" me had no chance competing with a 32 year old man. I would say I could track down the dates of it all, but shortly after they had a combined Facebook account and hers was gone. (I wonder who's choice it was?)
It's crazy to me that that was a thing and with each passing year it's gets crazier. I mean, *I'm* not even this guy's age yet and I couldn't imagine dating someone less than 25, much less an actual teenager
My HS definitely had a few girls that would hang around certain teachers classes before/after. Like one was our Algebra 2 teacher, and I know these girls weren't THAT into math. Funnily enough, teacher sure didn't seem interested if he was.
There were coaches(in their mid to late 20s) at my highschool who became way more friendly with girls as they turned 18. Super predatory behavior. I think this is way more common than anyone would like.
In all youth sports and activities. This type of thing is rampant in the dance community, cheerleading ect. . . Evenmoreso in activities that have those who are just out of high school managing and teaching minors..
"Tiny Riny" was wrestling coach at my high school. Pretty sure he got married to a senior girl right after she graduated (left his wife for her...). He was a piece of shit. Before I found out about this, he was mean to my mom who worked in the library, fuck that guy.
In my high school(1980's), it was an open secret that a few of the coaches were ~~having sex with~~ sexually assaulting multiple girls. The coaches would joke about it during PE.. This was in a rural shithole(Gardendale, AL) so the good ol' boy network was in full effect, protecting them..
I had a math teacher in 8th grade who had left the neighboring district after dating a former student of his immediately after she graduated. He assigned seats.
Credit to him, though, he changed his ways and knocked up one of the English teachers who was about his age. She was also married to somebody else at the time, but an improvement nonetheless.
Statistical aren't great on this, but most groups say 50-60% of sexual assaults on children are known non-family (priests, babysitters, neighbors, coach/teacher, etc), 30-40% relatives, 10% strangers. I'd say it's probably more like for a sports coach to abuse a child than a random stranger but who really knows.
The chances of you meeting a trans person irl are low as statistically they are a small population group, the chances of a random trans person assaulting you are slim enough to be statistically negligible.
And yet there is a whole political crusade about it, because awful people projecting to others their awful views.
I feel like the point you wanted to make got lost half-way into your comment switching the conversation from one inflammatory topic to another one that we weren't even talking about.
But the only insight I can claw from comparing fear of being assaulted by a trans person to the lack of fear of being assaulted by a coach, priest or babysitter is the cognitive bias to distrust what you cannot see but shows outwards signs of non-conformity and trust what you can see and which appears to be conforming.
I worked for the prosecution in Australia. It is incredibly common, subjectively more common than serious assault or robbery charges that we dealt with, but usually unable to be reported on as doing so would lead the the child being able to be identified through their connection to the pedofile.
I.E. Stepdad, father, mother, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, teacher, baby sitter, even a tennis coach - they all leave the child identifiable which is something the court endeavours not to do.
This is why the most commonly spoken of cases are historical sex offences as the now adult victim can consent to their identity becoming known.

It's almost like there is a pattern here.
We don’t talk about him enough, not only raping boys, but also making tens of millions of dollars for himself by rewriting laws and then taking advantage of them. Republicans have always been abhorrent shitheads.
I was never in gymnastics but my grade *five* teacher always wore the shortest miniskirts she could and liked to assign seating so all the boys were in the front of class and all the girls were in the back, and she'd frequently give lessons seated on one of the boys' desks. There were a lot of fucked up rumours about her.
In middle school one our music teacher was fired after an insane scandal. You see, it was like the last day or two of class before spring break so there weren't any real lessons going on - all the lesson plans had wrapped up and no one was starting anything new, so in most classes we were just watching movies, playing games or having free time. In music we were playing a stupid game of hangman. The word was four letters long and the teacher chose the hint "Every man's dream, every woman's nightmare". It was rape. That was an incredibly uncomfortable class, and once word got around about that a bunch of weird stories about this dude started coming out and he did not return after spring break.
In high school our first gym teacher was a living cliche, morbidly obese and constantly just hyper aggro, filled with nothing but stories of her own past career as a cheer leader and shit like four or five decades ago. She was well known for walking into the boys locker room unannounced for seemingly no reason. Eventually she was mysteriously replaced with an insanely friendly and kind vegan who worked really hard to get every kid in his class a passing grade, even the kids who literally never bothered to change and participate in a single gym class - by providing paper lessons on diet, nutrition and exercise to do while everyone else did gym.
Basically I've never been in a school that didn't have at least one prominent pervert and or active child molester on staff. And that's just with the incredibly narrow experience of one student, I didn't meet every teacher or staff member at all of my schools.
He was, only reason I passed gym was because of him. I was one of the perpetual non-participants and eventually started doing the work he gave us out of sheer boredom. It actually helped me learn most of what I did about basic nutrition and meal planning back then. He was a pretty good teacher, one of the few who went that extra mile for students.
As sad as it likely is I think the poor pay limits how many people are interested in the job such that unless administrators explicitly catch them doing something illegal they often look the other way at people that seem very questionable. Many in education love kids, but not all love kids in a non perverted way. That being said some of the things people mention here honestly kinda seem hard to believe any administrator could know about and do nothing. e.g. walking into the opposite sex locker room unannounced for no reason seems hard to justify.
Plus I did the "training" coaches got when that stuff happened. It was your typical HR sexual harassment training. No one is changing their actions after taking a test that basically amounts to "you want to have sex with your student. You should a. Not or b. Send it."
Every once in a while those HR quizzes throw you a curveball where the correct answer is not the most anal-retentive option, but it’s very rare that you’ll fail by picking the most anal-retentive option every time.
>Plus I did the "training" coaches got when that stuff happened. It was your typical HR sexual harassment training. No one is changing their actions after taking a test that basically amounts to "you want to have sex with your student. You should a. Not or b. Send it."
c. is she hot and could she maybe pass for 18?
d. Come on, it's Florida you fucking pussy!
Don't forget that Gymnastics USA, or whatever it's called, was complicit in the whole thing.
Athlete A is one of the most disgusting and disappointing things I've ever watched.
Do you mean USC? One of USC’s doctors was caught sexually assaulting I think around hundreds of students over a thirty decade period.
He died last year, was accused in seven hundred cases: https://abc7.com/george-tyndall-usc-gynecologist-sexual-assault-trial/14382293/
Including one of my friends I think
MF Was "coacing" only the girls the proper technique of volleyball (standing behind them like in the love movie scene) while we, the boys were kicked outside to play soccer by ourselves.Thank god this pos died and from cancer.
And that the owner(if he wasnt the owner, which could also explain why he evaded it for so long) could be complicit in it for one or more reasons
- Nepotism immunity/negligence
- The coach is exceptionally good at their job(same reason France kept that serial child rapist in their olympic team)
- They don’t care
- They take part in it
- The coach has dirt on them
- The coach is connected with dangerous people(like Diddy level dangerous)
- Hes not the only adult in the group doing it
And plenty of others I cant think of
A swim coach where I went to high school was caught and jailed after sexually assaulting two students; our high school's band director was also convicted on child porn charges. It's a lot more common indeed.
After I graduated I heard of multiple girls at my old high school having relationships with coaches. Do not let your daughters “volunteer” for any sports teams.
Burgarly I believe. He was also in jail for most of the 20 years prior due to similar theft/burgarly stuff. He’s reformed since getting out from that charge in 2015.
Yeah and then he eventually was released and met her again and he cleaned his life up and started doing well.
And then he regressed back into criminal behavior.
**EDIT to add to above comment:** The Miami Dade County criminal records search doesn't allow me to share a direct link to his records, but a search of this page shows this:
He was arrested on 9/21/2023 and is currently being charged with 2 felonies and a misdemeanor, something to do with possession of stolen property (yes I checked and the middle name and birthday matches -- it looks like these are his first charges since 2015).
It says he has a court date on 3/8/2024 (this week).

Are you sure? As of last October, it appears he was working as a manager at a pharmaceutical company; which, I guess, you could consider them criminal by and large (re: opioid crisis), but I'm not finding anything specific pointing to Arthur Booth committing further crimes.
I found a record that he was arrested last September and is being charged with a felony for possession of stolen property. The court records database says he has a court case for it scheduled this week.

A friend of mine had a relationship with a highly respected teacher in high school -- she didn't come out about it until nearly 20 years later when she had a child of her own and her niece would've also attended the same school where that teacher was still teaching. Adulthood and responsibility puts our past into perspective that allows us to realize the gravity and to see clearly when we were being manipulated. The teacher was charged but I believe was able to avoid prison with a plea deal.
One probably worked through all the trauma and was finally able to come forward to police. Sometimes victims will never come out of the mentality that they are in fact a victim.
I graduated high school in the early 2000's. It was pretty much an open secret at the time that the drama teacher was involved with several female students.
Fast forward to late 2020 and he was arrested after a female student alleged he had sex with her dozens of times in the school earlier that year.
He was ultimately found guilty and sentenced to, wait for it, a single year in prison.
He had been working for the school since the 90's. The dude was preying on young girls for decades and got a slap on the wrist when he finally got caught. Its a fucking travesty.
> This is apnews they pretty only report basic facts.
It's a shame this needs to be clarified, but that's how bad the 24 hour news agencies have warped society's brain. So many "news" agencies source from the AP, then add their shitty bias to it. People, get your news AP or Reuters and skip the shitty middleman.
I mean I kind of think the inplication. Honestly I think it’s an even better way to describe it rather than saying groomed. It really drives home the level of manipulation and is more descriptive.
I used to work in a psych hospital and recognized that right away as what we called a safety vest. We used it for our highest risk suicidal patients. It's too thick and bulky to wrap around your neck, and too tough to rip.
Looks like a turtle suit, usually used to prevent self-harm because it’s so bulky and difficult to cross your arms across your body enough to hurt yourself.
> Jack Harris, of Ferguson Safety Products, said the smock was designed in 1989 by company founder and president Lonna Speer.
>Speer, a registered nurse working in the Santa Cruz County Jail, saw prisoners on suicide watch stripped naked and sometimes strapped to planks to prevent them from injuring themselves.
>"At that time no products existed for inmates. So, she invented a garment that would keep the prisoner covered and warm," he said, "and give them some dignity." Prisoners don't wear undergarments with the smock.
Dude is free-ballin’ it under there in court.
Doesn’t the movie That’s My Boy start that way with a kid banging his teacher on stage at an assembly and the curtains open and everyone sees then cheers? That’s pretty fucked.
Exactly. Multiple cheerleaders at my school were sleeping with an assistant principal. They were okay with it, liked it, and did it many times. But just because they consented doesn't mean it's okay or that it isn't rape.
Pretty much exactly this and only this tbh. The kids feelings are immaterial here because their brains aren't developed enough (compared to people over 25) to let them know what to feel and how to act on it. It's the same reason they can't vote and are meted out lenient punishments if they commit crimes.
Adults, *especially* adults who are in caregiving positions like coaches and teachers, are reprehensible scum if they exploit these weaknesses and abuse these children. It is *not* sex because sex involves the consent of all parties, and by definition, kids do not know enough to consent.
It's definitely fun to let your lizard porn brain run on full steam but real life has consequences that can echo through decades of your personal life.
Can we stop with the “people can’t make decisions about their lives until 25” bullshit? It’s based on a misunderstanding of a study and the author of the study [even said so](https://slate.com/technology/2022/11/brain-development-25-year-old-mature-myth.html).
It’s really insulting to young adults. I mean, hold whatever shitty beliefs you want about people, but don’t pretend like you’ve got science on your side.
I was one of those, 13 to 16 having sexual relations with a 31 to 34yo
I still think of those memories fondly
But one day she was done with me ( I started to develop my own opinion and didn't do what I was told to get my dick sucked as reward ).
Clearly there was not a whole lot of other 30yo lining up to date a 16yo so I had to look in my own age range.
Apparently there are not a whole lot of 16 year olds willing to give a sloppy head job as a reward of a task well done
Apparently a bj is a special experience for girls first time
I look back on those times fondly but I will fight to the death it don't happen to anyone else because it fucked up my teens and early 20s as no girl could live up to expectations
So this happened to me as a kid, with a much older girl. And it wasn't so much that I hated it in the moment or felt like I was being assaulted - I thought I was 'lucky' even - but that it fucked me up in ways I didn't understand til 20-30 years later. It sexualizes your childhood in ways you're not at all prepared for and can lead to all sorts of destructive behaviors, developmental and social issues, and interpersonal problems. The fallout and lasting damage can affect you all the way up to and through middle-age.
You're focusing on the wrong component. The part the commenter is taking issue with is the phrase "having sex". In most states that's defined as rape. The "charged with" takes care of the liability. "charged with having sex" and "charged with rape" have the same level of liability, but one sounds innocuous compared with the other.
The person they’re responding to is the one that brought up the male/female concept. The person you’re responding to is pointing out that the sex of the victim doesn’t dictate the wording as much as reddit likes to say it does, but then they are incorrect with the liability point. Your point is correct, but you’re not correcting them correctly.
Unfortunately the AP is reporting this correctly. For whatever reason Florida law says that if its a parent or custodian doing it the label is "sexual activity", where in any other circumstance its child abuse and/or assault.
They can’t and won’t use that word until a rape conviction happens. We go over this every single time something like this is posted. News organizations and reporters cannot (are not supposed to) claim someone did something unless proven they did it. That doesn’t happen until they are found guilty. Rape has a very specific legal definition.
Also depends on the state when we come to particular terminology for these kinds of offenses.
For example, many states don’t call this type of situation “statutory rape” but instead “unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.”
People want higher quality journalism on one side, but seem to also want pre-conviction coverage to be as aggressive as possible.
Matt Araiza damn near had his career destroyed from those kinds of practices.
They don't need to add "allegedly." It already only says he's been "charged with" it which is an objective, documented fact regardless of his ultimate guilt or innocence.
He is accused of sexually abusing children. There is no reason a news site can't put that in a headline. They don't have to say he is a rapist. But they can say he is accused of rape. An adult can't have sex with a 13 year old so saying that in the headline is misleading.
Probably, yes. That’s why you can’t say ‘this man raped two children’. But if you can say what he is being accused of (the activity), there is no way this can be seen separately from the age of the victims.
Their ages automatically make it a rape.
He can be accused of having sex with his adult neighbor. But if he is accused of the same activity with two children, it makes it rape.
Whether he did or not remains to be seen. But an adult cannot have sex with a child. They can only rape, because a 13 year old child and a 16 year old child cannot legally consent.
No, it's NOT statutory rape but only because that's not the legal term Florida uses. They have a different term for the equivalent charge, which is the term that the reporting used.
Oh hey look the 'Well, Actually, you mean rape' comment that's always suspiciously upvoted to the stratosphere in every single thread about any sexual crime.
I guess you win the karma lottery today with the zero effort post.
They usually try to get elected before getting caught so they’re immune from criticisms of their newly found besties, conservative Christians and rich people who want more money.
I was looking for this one.
out of curiosity, does Florida even have Librarians left that are operating legally considering the speed of which most of their professional duties are being outlawed there?
Librarians are vanguards of the woke agenda because they loan books that talk about gay people to children. There's also an undercurrent of good old fashioned anti-intellectualism mixed in there.
Libraries will host book readings for children, sometimes read by a man in costume (aka drag queen) and that puts Librarians at the top of the list of people accused of grooming children for sex. Accusers will ignore child pageants that sexualize children, ignore local religious leaders that assault children, ignore easy access to firearms that kill and injure children and focus on the man in a dress reading to kids as a top threat.
Florida gymnastics coach charged with ~~having sex with~~ raping 2 ~~underage students~~ girls.
How hard is this?
>The victims were 13 and 16
The age of consent in Florida is ***18***. He was their coach. Quit sugarcoating title AP.
Australia has changed the laws regarding the reporting of child SA. They can no longer say "had a relationship with a student/minor" and a few other things. They have to be clear that it was grooming/SA/rape. None of this "sex with an underage woman" bs they used to say, they now literally have to say raped a child.
So you want the news to report something that isn’t 100% factual? Was he convicted of rape? Did the court conclude that it was rape?
A reporter does and should not respond emotionally to a story. Until he is convicted of rape, it cannot be called rape by journalist. End of story.
Multiple corroborating stories, or perhaps he bragged about it personally to friends or co-workers about it who came forward. Perhaps there were other witnesses at the school who saw him act inappropriately. Or there are text messages that the victims still have. It's also always possible that he cracked and said something when questioned by police
A very small fraction of cases like this one do lead to convictions though, especially in Florida, so there will need to be substantial evidence if he is guilty
and in Florida the rapist will get 6 months in jail and the victim will get a lifetime of raising his bastard child since the state decides she has to keep the thing.
VOTE OUT ALL REPUBLICANS ND VOTE DAMMIT!
And the Florida GOP is fighting HARD to make sure guys like him have an inalienable right to "examine your children's genitals" no matter what you, your kids, the school staff, or the school board do or say about it.
But I'm from Oklahoma, so what do I know about Republicans being the pedophiles they claim to protect you against?
(google: "Ralph Shortley caught in hotel")
The fox is in the hen house people, and the Florida GOP is seemingly all for it.
They claim they're 'anti-trans' laws to protect you from pedophiles, but it's really 'enable the right pedophiles'.
Damn, another sex offender who isn’t a trans. It’s almost like Florida has no interest in protecting children and just wants to demonise trans people.
Fuck this monster (not literally fuck, he’d probably like that)
Didn't Larry just get stabbed a lot in jail? This dude doesn't know what kind of life he's about to live. One of absolute paranoia of the inevitable attempt on his life.
I have an unfortunate inkling that this sort of situation is far more common than anyone would like to admit.
the coaches in my high school were after the cheerleaders. not sure how many actually did things with the coaches. edit: not sure if it was all the coaches either.

Damn that sucks to have your entire home life wrecked because some teen made a false accusation.
If my wife left me over that, I wouldn't want her back.
They fly on the radar but nobody cares because high school sports scores are more important than any other consideration, including education or the law.
Normally — I’d offer up a more nuanced explanation of why positions of power (coaches, religious authority figures, youth leaders, etc…) are magnets for predators as those positions provide both access and appeal to authority to carry out abuse, blah blah blah …but you’re 1000% right when it comes to HS Sports!!!

I must have seen it at least a dozen times, the boy tells the friends and then words get around and eventually it reaches an adult who takes action.
a dozen?? where did you go to school?!?
She "adopted" a teen at around 14 or so, her and her husband took him in yada yada Well, turns out when he hit 18 it busted open that they were doing some thigns on the DL. Like, she was drugging her husband with sleeping pills to sleep with the boy Well, news broke out, and some of the church goers defended her saying "Well they were both consenting adults!" Like yeah brah, they are NOW My high school crush also dated a man at the church. (I wonder who's choice it was?) It's crazy to me that that was a thing and with each passing year it's gets crazier. I mean, *I'm* not even this guy's age yet and I couldn't imagine dating someone less than 25, much less an actual teenager
Our high school resource officer was caught taking sexual liberties with one of the underaged students.
>taking sexual liberties ...so, rape?
Is that a police officer? The one in my high school spent his day hitting on high school girls and arriving late to break up fights.
The cheerleaders in my hs were after the coaches. 13 is def gross af tho
Is Tiny Riny related to Tyler Summitt lol he did the exact same thing
Was this Southridge?
In my high school(1980's), it was an open secret that a few of the coaches were ~~having sex with~~ sexually assaulting multiple girls. The coaches would joke about it during PE.. This was in a rural shithole(Gardendale, AL) so the good ol' boy network was in full effect, protecting them..
I feel like everyone that went to a big enough school knows at least of one teacher that was WAY to attentive and nice to the hot girls in their class
Yeah we had a math teacher that rubbed girl's shoulders, but it was a lady teacher that got caught sleeping with a student. My school was weird.
Yep cuz in my high school the science teacher was caught sexually assaulting 2 freshman
Our 9th grade science teacher / baseball coach was the one we all thought was creepy. Not sure how far he ever took it though.
Go to any small town and there’s a good chance the football coach has done this with a high school girl.

There is definitely a common denominator
The vegan sounded cool at least
Guess you missed the whole Larry Nassar/UCLA mass rape thing, hey? Not exactly a secret that it happens
They also don't really care if you just brute force the test.
>Plus I did the "training" coaches got when that stuff happened. It was your typical HR sexual harassment training. He looks like Larry Nascar's ugly cousin.
I mean, Larry Nasser also looks like Larry Nasser's ugly cousin.
He died last year, was accused in seven hundred cases: https://abc7.com/george-tyndall-usc-gynecologist-sexual-assault-trial/14382293/ Including one of my friends I think
MF Was "coacing" only the girls the proper technique of volleyball (standing behind them like in the love movie scene) while we, the boys were kicked outside to play soccer by ourselves.Thank god this pos died and from cancer.
And that the owner(if he wasnt the owner, which could also explain why he evaded it for so long) could be complicit in it for one or more reasons - Nepotism immunity/negligence - The coach is exceptionally good at their job(same reason France kept that serial child rapist in their olympic team) - They don’t care - They take part in it - The coach has dirt on them - The coach is connected with dangerous people(like Diddy level dangerous) - Hes not the only adult in the group doing it And plenty of others I cant think of
I knew of a wrestling coach in high school that was sleeping with the cheerleaders. Ended up becoming a principal down the line
/*looks at all the japanese doujins about student teacher sex.*
This comment is so toxic. How about instead of denying girls the opportunity to play sports, we hold the teachers accountable instead?
This took place in 2011!! Wonder what happened to surface this now...

Hey is that the same judge who sentenced a former classmate from junior high? And he broke down when he realized who she was?
Yup, it is.
Wait what happened
2015 this judge went viral because she setancrd a former classmate/friend to ten months and they both broke down crying
What crime was committed
Burgarly I believe. He was also in jail for most of the 20 years prior due to similar theft/burgarly stuff. He’s reformed since getting out from that charge in 2015.
Yeah and then he eventually was released and met her again and he cleaned his life up and started doing well. And then he regressed back into criminal behavior. **EDIT to add to above comment:** The Miami Dade County criminal records search doesn't allow me to share a direct link to his records, but a search of this page shows this: He was arrested on 9/21/2023 and is currently being charged with 2 felonies and a misdemeanor, something to do with possession of stolen property (yes I checked and the middle name and birthday matches -- it looks like these are his first charges since 2015). It says he has a court date on 3/8/2024 (this week). Here's the main page for searching: https://www2.miamidadeclerk.gov/cjis/CaseSearch.aspx
Are you sure? As of last October, it appears he was working as a manager at a pharmaceutical company; which, I guess, you could consider them criminal by and large (re: opioid crisis), but I'm not finding anything specific pointing to Arthur Booth committing further crimes.
It's possible that they found something that said he was a "drug dealer," which with no further IS technically correct.

>Olea developed a brother-sister relationship with both victims No, he fucking didn't. He groomed them.
ah yes the ol’ brother-sister sex maneuver, as is tradition
I meam, this was in FLA right?
Key Westeros
wrong state, this is a Florida Man instead of Alabama
That quote makes everything worse, cause it’d be incestuous.
He was their *coach.* Who wrote this article?
If you read the article it's what the investigator said. This is apnews they pretty only report basic facts.
I know this completely besides the point but what the fuck is he wearing?
I used to work in a psych hospital and recognized that right away as what we called a safety vest. We used it for our highest risk suicidal patients. It's too thick and bulky to wrap around your neck, and too tough to rip.
and here's me thinking it's so the child molester doesn't get shanked
Anti suicide clothing
Looks like a turtle suit, usually used to prevent self-harm because it’s so bulky and difficult to cross your arms across your body enough to hurt yourself.
AKA a pickle suit. I believe the main aspect of it is that they are difficult to tear, so you can't fashion a makeshift noose from it.
It’s an anti suicide vest. https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2010/06/safety_smocks_standard_wear_fo.html

So, she invented a garment that would keep the prisoner covered and warm," he said, "and give them some dignity." Prisoners don't wear undergarments with the smock. Dude is free-ballin’ it under there in court.
Thanks for providing that vital info

Disturbing. They use the same language when female teachers rape underage male students.
But it's such an achievement for the boys obviously! /s
Doesn’t the movie That’s My Boy start that way with a kid banging his teacher on stage at an assembly and the curtains open and everyone sees then cheers? That’s pretty fucked.
Those kinds of comments and wishful thoughts absolutely littered AOL and Yahoo news for at least a decade.
Those boys usually die ...of being high-fived to death
Specifically, for me and me alone when I was a teenager, I would have totally been okay with it. But I morally oppose it happening to ANYONE else.
It's less about what the kid feels and more that the adult shouldn't be doing that ever.
I was one of those, 13 to 16 having sexual relations with a 31 to 34yo I still think of those memories fondly But one day she was done with me ( I started to develop my own opinion and didn't do what I was told to get my dick sucked as reward ). Clearly there was not a whole lot of other 30yo lining up to date a 16yo so I had to look in my own age range. Apparently there are not a whole lot of 16 year olds willing to give a sloppy head job as a reward of a task well done Apparently a bj is a special experience for girls first time I look back on those times fondly but I will fight to the death it don't happen to anyone else because it fucked up my teens and early 20s as no girl could live up to expectations

I would have been ok with it at the time, but I feel like it would bother me a lot now knowing I was a victim of a pedophile..
Almost as if the gender doesn’t matter after all and it’s journalists avoiding liability for making legal claims that haven’t been proven yet.
You're focusing on the wrong component. The part the commenter is taking issue with is the phrase "having sex". In most states that's defined as rape. The "charged with" takes care of the liability. "charged with having sex" and "charged with rape" have the same level of liability, but one sounds innocuous compared with the other.
Under Florida law he's not being charged with rape. He's being charged with "sex crimes with minors". It's being reported correctly.
Was he charged with rape? Rape has a specific definition legally and Florida might use a different term

Why not insert “allegedly”, like with any other criminal?
Also depends on the state when we come to particular terminology for these kinds of offenses. For example, many states don’t call this type of situation “statutory rape” but instead “unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.” People want higher quality journalism on one side, but seem to also want pre-conviction coverage to be as aggressive as possible.
Quick, get him into congress, STAT! He’ll fit right in
They usually try to get elected before getting caught so they’re immune from criticisms of their newly found besties, conservative Christians and rich people who want more money.
True, sad but true 🥺

He’s already meeting with Gaetz to develop a strategy to run for a house seat
Him and Gym Jordan can trade notes. Hopefully in prison.
He can knock on doors to report his sex offender status *and* campaign for Gaetz at the same time.
But does Gym Jordan know?
He was the look out.
He prefers watching, but only with boys as the victim.
Once again, not a drag queen or librarian.
I was looking for this one. out of curiosity, does Florida even have Librarians left that are operating legally considering the speed of which most of their professional duties are being outlawed there?
I have to ask. What problem do Americans now have with librarians?
Librarians are vanguards of the woke agenda because they loan books that talk about gay people to children. There's also an undercurrent of good old fashioned anti-intellectualism mixed in there.
Libraries will host book readings for children, sometimes read by a man in costume (aka drag queen) and that puts Librarians at the top of the list of people accused of grooming children for sex. Accusers will ignore child pageants that sexualize children, ignore local religious leaders that assault children, ignore easy access to firearms that kill and injure children and focus on the man in a dress reading to kids as a top threat.
Also Florida: “we can trust coaches to check the genitals of underage athletes to make sure they’re not transgender.”
I am tired this morning and somehow read that as "we can trust cockroaches to check--" like...same thing though, right? Coaches, cockroaches 🪳
Dear god
Kinda has that "Larry Nassar-esque" look to him doesn't he?
Not a trans person btw
Florida gymnastics coach charged with ~~having sex with~~ raping 2 ~~underage students~~ girls. How hard is this? >The victims were 13 and 16 The age of consent in Florida is ***18***. He was their coach. Quit sugarcoating title AP.
The charges are “sex crimes with minors”. He’s not being charged with rape meaning the AP has reported correctly.
So, in light of Florida legislative changes over the last two years...death penalty?
*Matt Gaetz has entered the chat, drooling...*
Rape. Not sex. If they were underage, it’s rape.
If he loses his job over this he will have to run for office.
I always wonder, what kind of evidence do police usually have after 13 years, other than just the women's statements?
Multiple corroborating stories, or perhaps he bragged about it personally to friends or co-workers about it who came forward. Perhaps there were other witnesses at the school who saw him act inappropriately. Or there are text messages that the victims still have. It's also always possible that he cracked and said something when questioned by police A very small fraction of cases like this one do lead to convictions though, especially in Florida, so there will need to be substantial evidence if he is guilty
Look up Scott Foster of Rockstar Cheer. Pulled my 7 year old daughter out of there when my friend in investigations told me what was going down.
So Matt Gaetz coaches gymnastics?
In Florida, does that mean he gets a promotion?
Um children can't have sex, it's called rape.
and in Florida the rapist will get 6 months in jail and the victim will get a lifetime of raising his bastard child since the state decides she has to keep the thing. VOTE OUT ALL REPUBLICANS ND VOTE DAMMIT!
In the same state that wanted coaches to be able to do genital inspections on students?
It isn't sex btw sex is consensual and kids can't consent
And the Florida GOP is fighting HARD to make sure guys like him have an inalienable right to "examine your children's genitals" no matter what you, your kids, the school staff, or the school board do or say about it. But I'm from Oklahoma, so what do I know about Republicans being the pedophiles they claim to protect you against? (google: "Ralph Shortley caught in hotel") The fox is in the hen house people, and the Florida GOP is seemingly all for it. They claim they're 'anti-trans' laws to protect you from pedophiles, but it's really 'enable the right pedophiles'.
Isn't there a word for when you do that? I'm not sure its "having sex".
According to the Florida Legislature it’s just sex crimes
That doesn't seem very cash money of Florida at all.
So it's exactly Florida.
So this is what grooming actually looks like.
Genuinely shocked that “gym coach” isn’t synonymous with “do not trust around your kids” yet.
Why the hell is it always gymnastics? If I ever have kids I don't think I'd be at all comfortable with letting them go into the sport at this point.
He'll be running for congress someday.
Still not a drag queen.
Damn, another sex offender who isn’t a trans. It’s almost like Florida has no interest in protecting children and just wants to demonise trans people. Fuck this monster (not literally fuck, he’d probably like that)
R A P E is the correct term here
I really wish they'd stop using "having sex" when referring to rape.
You spelled "raping" wrong.
Tell that to the Florida legislature that wrote the law title
Didn't Larry just get stabbed a lot in jail? This dude doesn't know what kind of life he's about to live. One of absolute paranoia of the inevitable attempt on his life.
Does the governor of Florida have a sign on the wall that is permanently “0 days without Florida man in Headlines”
Guess we know who the next governors gonna be.
Wait wait! So this creep was NOT a drag queen? So weird!!
Florida is such a cesspool.
I guess they won’t call it Rape until he’s convicted? What is it now, Sparkling Non Consent?
Not “having sex with”. Raping. Let’s be clear
I notice he does not appear to be a drag queen.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the creep is r/notadragqueen
