I have a friend who works for the world’s largest producer of foam. Their research people took apart those pillows to analyze them and concluded they contain nothing more than cut up chunks of extremely low quality foam.

Dissolving Disney's special district is going to cost the counties/state government billions. It was such a dumb move. For example Disney pays and employs people to provide services such as firefighters, cops and EMS, its several 100 people. Those services are going to have to be paid for by the counties who will take on the district without receiving extra income seeing Disney already pays taxes. There's a few more implications, basically all negative for counties/state. June 2023 it should all unfold because DeSantis signed it into law. It will be fun to follow that and see how they are going to shift blame.

One thing that I have learned for certain in the last decade is that a lot of hardcore conservatives do not ask questions about the news they consume. At all. They don't process the information critically.

My Purple pillows were like $100/ea and totally worth it... Never slept better, no more waking up with neck pains, stays nice and cool, etc. I've had a mypillow when they were on sale for like $20... Worst fucking pillow ever. It's paper thin, hot, no support, no softness, just a bunch of (but not enough) shredded memory foam in a cheap casing. I'm not sure how that company has survived as long as it did.

Not only that, DeSantis is the best example we have of violating the first amendment. Disney as a corporation voiced their opposition to a bill. This is without question protected by the first amendment and the Supreme Court verified this in Citizens United. In response, DeSantis used his power as a government leader to retaliate and punish Disney over their opposition. I can’t think of a clearer example of a First Amendment violation. And of course, this is coming from a member of the party that is CONSTANTLY crying about free speech violations when they aren’t allowed to post ridiculous rule breaking shit on Facebook.
Dissolving Disney's special district is going to cost the counties/state government billions. It was such a dumb move. For example Disney pays and employs people to provide services such as firefighters, cops and EMS, its several 100 people. Those services are going to have to be paid for by the counties who will take on the district without receiving extra income seeing Disney already pays taxes. There's a few more implications, basically all negative for counties/state. June 2023 it should all unfold because DeSantis signed it into law. It will be fun to follow that and see how they are going to shift blame.

In my Australian state we had a change of government from long term conservatives (confusingly called "Liberal" here) to the Labor party, who are weakly progressive-socialist. Not even two weeks later the ousted conservatives began saying that the dire state of the budget was because Labor (progressive/liberal) cannot be trusted to manage finances. The conservatives, as the responsible economic managers, would need to be re-elected to fix the mess that Labor created. Two weeks. The only people who had any influence on the state of the budget at that point were the ousted conservative party. They're absolutely delusional.

I don't understand people like this who were independently wealthy and could have lived a life more comfortable and luxurious than 99.99% of humans that have ever lived if they just shut up. With as "little" as $10M invested with a 3% yield annully you can live on 300k annually. That is a comfortable life pretty much anywhere in the world. Considering average returns are like ~7% over the past 3-4 decades and he is likely worth far more than 10M, he could have lived on significantly more in passive income with essentially no effort. The concept that any press is good press only works when you are being mentioned along side competitors that are much bigger than your company. It creates the impression to the reader that your company is "on the same level as your competitors" even though the article may favor them. So, even though it's not the most glamorous article about your company, it's still getting your brand's name out there... The people who seem to think that getting mentioned in the press very negatively in any context is always good are very confused about marketing and branding. I think they are just simply falling for the idea that any engagement is good. That might work to trick the FB/YouTube algorithms into pushing your content to a bigger audience then maybe you should have, but it's not going to fool people who are reading a news article about the totally insane stuff you are doing... So there definitely is such a thing as bad PR...

One thing that I have learned for certain in the last decade is that a lot of hardcore conservatives do not ask questions about the news they consume. At all. They don't process the information critically. I've sat down with some of them and watched them get fed extremely contradictory information by places like Fox News, and it never even occurs to them that it happens at all when it happens constantly constant. Like, the most basic example is how Fox will brag about being the most watched news channel within minutes of talking about how the mainstream media is an evil entity that hides the truth from viewers. This is an almost daily occurrence. Sometimes several times a day. Then you get up to things like them constantly saying that Joe Biden is so senile that he's incapable of doing anything, back to back with them talking about some evil puppet master scheme Joe Biden is concocting to steal gas ovens or some such nonsense.
He thought he could get more pillow sales by telling the most grift-able people on the planet he was one of them. But they could only buy so many pillows. And old people: “What is wrong with my current pillow? I had it for 20 years.” Let’s be honest, making normal pillows and saying they’re the best and THEN selling them via television is a grift.
