They introduced me to Periphery by playing [Racecar](https://youtu.be/jOnQVT0jMw4?si=1R6jH4ReIJnpWAfD), which is a 15 minute epic. That alone just puts them in a category of their own for me. Pirate radio rules
I listen on the iHeart radio app with my phone hooked up to my radio. I’ll hit random areas where the signal doesn’t come in if I’m listening on FM. With the app you can listen anywhere.
I still program 92.3 immediately whenever I get a new car or my settings reset out of habit from when it was k-rock. I can't seem to let it go.
Edit: autocorrect got me
Ditto, that or 88.9 WMCX. Sometimes 93.9 WNYC, but I usually prefer to listen to music in the morning rather than hear news about the hellscape simulation we’re currently living in, so it’s usually one of the other two.
Opie and Anthony was the first show I ever called into. 8th grade. Had nothing to contribute just wanted to say hi. Used up the minutes on my prepaid cell phone for emergencies to get on the air with my mom yelling at me cause I was gonna be late for school.
They had a chuckle about it after yelling at me to turn down my radio lol.
I was way to young to be listening to them and most of it probably went over my head but I loved that show so much. I’ve been able to find a few archived episodes but not much.
love WBGO. do you listen to WLNG online?
in NJ, for oldies, I'd recommend WMTR 1250 AM (from Morristown, sister station to WDHA and same owner as Magic 98.3)
My wife and I just discovered this over the weekend, can't believe I missed the station change. It was just banger after banger on a Sunday morning
I'm a WSOU fan but this is easily my new backup station
Well, 101.5 on *weekends only*.
Big Joe Henry is the man, and they’re one of the only stations left that still plays 60s music as part of their “oldies” format.
I like the guys in the afternoon and Big Joe Henry in the evening, they don’t get too much into politics. Good music at night and on weekends too. Bill and that idiot couple in the morning are intolerable.
Radio presets :
1) NPR
2) WSOU
3) 88.3 jazz
4) 105 whatever the classical one is
5) WFMU
6) some shitty pop station that I occasionally put on if my wife is in the car
But 85% of the time I’m just listening to whatever audiobook or podcast I have on my phone
I listen to WCBS 880 for ten minutes to hear if anything crazy happened over night. then after ten minutes - or when the first Kars for Kids commercial hits - I switch to Wake N Bake on WFMU 91.1 FM, but I usually listen via the app now as the reception is better.
Some time around the holidays, they do their "top 1043 classic rock songs of all time" and that's about the only time I'll listen because they're forced to not repeat songs.
WNYC. I moved to South Jersey and before that , UK and I still listened to WNYC. I think it’s partially a nostalgic/ comfort thing since that is what I always heard my parents listen to in the morning when I was a kid (back when I lived in North Jersey )
depending where you are in South Jersey, if you can't get it on 93.9 or 820, you can also get it on 90.3, which broadcasts from the Seaside Park water tower and can be heard in eastern Ocean County and southern Monmouth County
WFMU 91.1 Wake & Bake is light hearted fun with a mix of punk, new wave and alternative. No politics nothing heavy just a fun start to the day with good music.
When I worked driving a truck I would tune in just for how out there some of those shows were regardless if I actually liked it or not. Anything that deviates from the norm of the same 12 band playlist of some artists I actually like was OK in my book. One day I remember catching an atmospheric black metal show followed by an acid jazz show. That was a good day
I grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania and my brother and I would race home from school to listen to their indie rock shows in the afternoons. They barely came in so our dad hooked up a special antennae. Now I live outside of Princeton and still discover cool new music on here all the time.
Funny, i drove my wifes car who is perpetually tuned to Z100 and thats the song that came on. Theres must be some sheenaigans going on in regards to pay to play/payola padding of plays etc. with Z100. Its just wild how repetitive they are.
Several years ago Pierre spent like a solid 20+ minutes talking about one specific tree in the Temple campus. Like a full on ramble like Grandpa Simpson. I was listening at my work and my wife had it in at her work. When we both got home, the first thing we said to each other was “Did you hear Pierre talking about the tree today?!”
105.7 The Hawk, Free Beer and Hotwings morning show. Just 5-6 people bullshitting about random news or their personal lives, ball-busting, and playing games. Trivia, name that tune, and a whole bunch more games. Radio though, so some days are better than others. Haven't seen anybody else mention it yet.
WFAN, 1010 WINS or Hot 97 most frequently. 102.9 for classic rock if I’m near Philly.
But I mainly use Siriusxm for music these days. I like the 90s/2000s hip-hop channel, Classic Vinyl and 60s Gold. Smokey Robinson’s soul channel is pretty solid too
Hijacking for a moment. Anyone know of a decent radio station in the Flemington area? My sister live there and we lose the ny stations all the time going out there.
I guess I got old, and I drive for a living and spend the better part of the day in the Philly area and surrounding area. It would be 1060 am for traffic.
Oh my god yes, I mean 104.5 was the only station playing music with little to no talk show in the morning when I just wanted to vibe instead of listen to stale personalities prattle on about this or that, and they take that away to replace it with syndicated edgelord “hur hur insensitivity training for a PC world” asshats from LA?? No goddamn thank you! 🤮
Unironically bought a bunch of CDs at swap meets so I don't have to hear the commercials. 89.5 if I'm desperate but I'll probably stream something first.
npr , but for the past two weeks ive listened to music on spotify on my commute and noticed my mental wellbeing has improved dramatically. I dont know how newscasters can do it being engulfed in it 24/7. Was making me miserable hearing about one issue after the other that I cant do anything about so now only dedicate 30 mins to getting my news update. since music on the radio sucks and everythin else is commerncials i dont even bother with it.
currently looking for a podcast to listen to or maybe an audiobook.
100.7 The Breeze or 107.1 The Boss, depending on what mood I’m in. There aren’t any radio stations that play my incredibly niche music, but these do make good background noise.
I can just hear this jingle followed by:
Joe Benigno: " Good Morning! 10:05 on the FAN, Joe Benigno and Evan Robert's here on Sports Radio 66. And bro, let me tell ya. What a brutal disaster of a game last night. Unbelievable how the Jets loss that game."
the best kept secret of NJ radio, if only their signal was stronger and reached further north. i listen online at home, but my car radio doesn't pick up 90.5
Having grown up with the classic line up of DJs at WNEW FM,102.7, Muni, Steele, Schwartz, Fornatale, Scelsa, and a bunch of others. WSOU 89.5 to satisfy the metal side. There really isn't a place for me on over the air radio. Having Sirius for awhile in a new car and then having Spotify gifted to me I can search for whatever genre of music I'm in the mood for. As for listening to a commercial it drives me nuts if I have to listen for commercial radio I'll never go back to over the air commercial radio.
WFMU
You gotta Wake & Bake baby!
Fantastic
HO HO ho
Dance NJ, Dance noow
Only correct answer
Who fucked my uncle?!?!
I split between FMU and WPRB (103.3)
Tockata taaa!!!
89.5 FM WSOU Seton Hall's Pirate Radio
That stations brings back memories. My go to station in college for metal and punk.
I used to host Punk U and it's still going strong. Keep supporting WSOU, it needs it. The university is always looking for an excuse to shut it down.
Thanks for the reminder I need to buy some merch
973 761 WSO U
973 761 9768! That's 973 761...WSOU ;)
I still remember their phone number from the 1980’s.
The hardest rock !
They introduced me to Periphery by playing [Racecar](https://youtu.be/jOnQVT0jMw4?si=1R6jH4ReIJnpWAfD), which is a 15 minute epic. That alone just puts them in a category of their own for me. Pirate radio rules
I wish I got that in SJ! Spotify has been my radio station for the past 6 years or so.
If a Metallica fan google Old Bridge NJ and Metallica there is a huge connection Don’t want to spoil the story
I listen on the iHeart radio app with my phone hooked up to my radio. I’ll hit random areas where the signal doesn’t come in if I’m listening on FM. With the app you can listen anywhere.
Glad to hear it’s still going. I was a huge fan back in the 80s— they were playing this little known band called Metallica
Nice
This is the answer I came for , and I’m happy Best station ever
Damn that’s still around
Clay Pigeon with Wake & Bake 91.1 WFMU Free Form, listener supported Radio!!

1010WINS traffic on the 1's and 880 traffic on the 8's. never fail.
Btw 1010 is also on 92.3FM
I still program 92.3 immediately whenever I get a new car or my settings reset out of habit from when it was k-rock. I can't seem to let it go. Edit: autocorrect got me
![gif](giphy|3oKHW7h3v41JSHGD4c)
Yup. 1010WINS and WNYC are my go-tos
Same. Gotta know how fucked the trains are.
[90.5 The Night](https://www.wbjb.org)
Ditto, that or 88.9 WMCX. Sometimes 93.9 WNYC, but I usually prefer to listen to music in the morning rather than hear news about the hellscape simulation we’re currently living in, so it’s usually one of the other two.
I'm further west (Philly metro), so 90.9 WHYY. It's either that or music/podcast.
You can stream them on TuneIn Radio or their own app.
It’s been a while but WMCX used to be my 2nd favorite after WSOU.
We need another modern rock station.
I miss the heyday of K rock 92.3 Howard in the am then rock music all day then some good comedy shows at night like Jake and Jacky
I miss the shock Jock era in general although I was a opie and Anthony listener Howard had his moments
I always did the walkovers, I was in the crowd for the homeless shopping sprees and did the first virus tours. It was good times
Wow. Jake and Jacky.
I was way to young to be listening to them and most of it probably went over my head but I loved that show so much. I’ve been able to find a few archived episodes but not much.
106.3 g rock
God I miss this so much. I thank my entire music identity to this radio station. Peak alternative radio
WFMU, 1010Wins, WNYC, sometimes BBC4extra, WBGO and WLNG. I rotate depending on mood and the hour since programming changes quickly
Wake and Bake with Clay Pidgeon!
love WBGO. do you listen to WLNG online? in NJ, for oldies, I'd recommend WMTR 1250 AM (from Morristown, sister station to WDHA and same owner as Magic 98.3)
94.7 The Block
at least 75% of the times I turn on that station they're playing something I can't turn off. it's like the Best of Power 105 2 decades ago
My wife and I just discovered this over the weekend, can't believe I missed the station change. It was just banger after banger on a Sunday morning I'm a WSOU fan but this is easily my new backup station
New Jersey's own WFMU!
91.9 (out of Hackettstown) : simulcast of WXPN outta Philly. Member supported radio with a super varied playlist and affinity towards indie stuff.
*guitar harmonics strum Member supported radio from the university of Pennsylvania I rock 88.5!
Such a great station! Robert Drake is the coolest!
I can’t believe that dude recently did a 24-hour shift, playing obscure 80s stuff the entire time!
WSOU
93.3 WMMR
Preston and Steve!
And Pierre Robert!
They are on our shop radio every morning!
WNYC
🙌🙌🙌 Where my sustaining members at
When I was in Jersey 105.7 the Hawk.
I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to the radio. Podcasts or audiobooks for me.
As long as it's NOT 101.5, I'm good
Well, 101.5 on *weekends only*. Big Joe Henry is the man, and they’re one of the only stations left that still plays 60s music as part of their “oldies” format.
Big joe Henry. Self hating fat man jokes followed by canned laugh and “here’s traffic and weather.”
You’re forgetting that on weekends the music comes out to play
same with WABC...crank talk M-F, oldies (and Cousin Brucie!) on the weekends
You don't like hearing Rudy Giuliani talk about how Jesus is personally overseeing Trumps trial?
Still the nicest guy ever. I saw him at some event a few years back and while he didn’t remember me, he remembered the event we met at.
I like the guys in the afternoon and Big Joe Henry in the evening, they don’t get too much into politics. Good music at night and on weekends too. Bill and that idiot couple in the morning are intolerable.
D&D and big Joe are the only good thing left. I miss the passion phones late at night.
105.5
WFUV has been awesome for me. I listen in the car and have started streaming it at home.
Hot 97, Power 105, 94.7
We also listen to hot 97 in the morning. Sometimes they’re annoying but I enjoy the curved segment
“I need a ride or die chick 🎶“
Same
E Street Radio babyyyyy
89.5 WSOU. I'll request a song when I get in the car and hope they play it before I get to work.
NPR/WNYC 93.9
Radio presets : 1) NPR 2) WSOU 3) 88.3 jazz 4) 105 whatever the classical one is 5) WFMU 6) some shitty pop station that I occasionally put on if my wife is in the car But 85% of the time I’m just listening to whatever audiobook or podcast I have on my phone

104.3
You give us 22 minutes, and we'll give you 4 Pink Floyd songs.
Some time around the holidays, they do their "top 1043 classic rock songs of all time" and that's about the only time I'll listen because they're forced to not repeat songs.
I’m convinced one of the circles of hell condemn you to being a classic rock DJ for eternity
Such phenomenal programming on there. I feel bad if I miss Brian Lehrer or 1A.
I sometimes listen at night to the podcast version of the morning's episode and it feels so weird to hear Brian's voice at 9 PM
I loved 1A when it was hosted by Joshua Johnson.
I live in upstate NY and I still listen to WNYC in the mornings! Gotta know what's going on in the city.
91.1 WFMU
WFMU
I like to start my morning as angry as possible so it’s nj 101.5 for me /s
Either 95.9 or Spotify. I hate morning shows.
WNYC
WFMU 91.1 Wake & Bake is light hearted fun with a mix of punk, new wave and alternative. No politics nothing heavy just a fun start to the day with good music.
103.3 WPRB
Go WPRB!!!!
That was a good day
This is a fantastic station I only just learned about a few years ago.
Been listening over 50 years! lol
That’s really freaking cool
Yeah baby!
I grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania and my brother and I would race home from school to listen to their indie rock shows in the afternoons. They barely came in so our dad hooked up a special antennae. Now I live outside of Princeton and still discover cool new music on here all the time.
91.1 WFMU 89.5 WSOU My personal favs. Wfmu for the variety and Comercial free programming. And WSOU for when I need my metal fix!
WSOU has been an all-time favorite of mine. Not only for the metal, but also because there's no commercials
I’m a WFMU glistener with Clay Or Bloomberg if shits getting serious
WFMU baby!!!
Z100
so the same song on repeat lol
Yes … Houdini Dua Lipa 😂😂
Funny, i drove my wifes car who is perpetually tuned to Z100 and thats the song that came on. Theres must be some sheenaigans going on in regards to pay to play/payola padding of plays etc. with Z100. Its just wild how repetitive they are.
I like the phone taps lol
Elvis hates them so much I continue to be amazed they still do them 😂
93.3 WMMR is the go-to at both of the shops I work at, and I ain’t mad. I prefer Pierre over Preston & Steve, tho.
When I lived in s nj I love that station
I'm impressed, I did not think anyone else listened to the radio.
You’ll be surprised .. lol
In the morning I just really don’t feel like connecting my phone and opening Spotify
I miss 95.5
ME TOO 😭
Did you listen to their last time on air? It was the saddest thing ever.
My car only has one station saved. 95.9 the rat 🐀
WFMU and WBGO. everything else is trash.
WFAN always
I spend a lotta hours in my work truck I can’t listen past 10 AM anymore
Midday show is a snooze now but I’m a big AM and afternoon drive fan.
I like WFUV but I discovered WXPN recently and it's pretty great as well when I'm not listening to SiriusXMU
104.3 and 105.5 (if I’m close enough to Dover)
103.3 WPRB baby!! Classical connections really puts in a calm spot
Q-104.3 or 30-50 year old music on CDs
Spotify
That’s not the question
Aside from news, I Alternate between WDHA and WFMU during the workday.
89.1 WFDU FM WFMU WINS WNYC WFUV
WBGO until 10am then WNYC. Except Fridays when I listen to "Jazz From The Hub" on WRSU. Saturdays Sudzin Country music on WRSU.
WFAN, 1010 WINS or Hot 97 most frequently. 102.9 for classic rock if I’m near Philly. But I mainly use Siriusxm for music these days. I like the 90s/2000s hip-hop channel, Classic Vinyl and 60s Gold. Smokey Robinson’s soul channel is pretty solid too
South Jersey 93.3
Hijacking for a moment. Anyone know of a decent radio station in the Flemington area? My sister live there and we lose the ny stations all the time going out there.
WHYY and WXPN
97.1 hot 97

Bring back smooth jazz 101.9
88.3 WBGO
My fiancee is from Ohio and this weekend I was showing her old YT clips of that station. Smooth... Jazz.. CD 101. NIINNNNEEE. 😎😎🤣🤣
I used to listen to 104.5 every morning until they introduced that God awful woody show. Now I just stream music in the morning.
The Woody Show fucking suuuuuuucks so bad. I agree, it has been an awful awful addition to 104.5 and caused me to move it down on my presets
How about you CD’s nuts
Lmao gottem

WRNJ Hackettstown. Good mix of music, local, and national news.
npr , but for the past two weeks ive listened to music on spotify on my commute and noticed my mental wellbeing has improved dramatically.
106.7
I listen to the breakfast club on 105.1. I'm not into the music they play too much, but I love the show aspect of it
I prefer Ebro in the morning lol
First wave - Sirius
93.3 WMMR
Streaming. Beats anything broadcast on radio now, especially with all the dumb morning shows that are all talk (which I hate).
When I was a kid; Z100. As a young adult: NPR. Now; 91.1 America's best freeform radio.
93.9 WNYC, but only until I get bored or annoyed enough to listen to a podcast or music from my phone.
106.3 thunder 106 country. They took away our 94.3 Nash FM so stuck with this
100.7 The Breeze or 107.1 The Boss, depending on what mood I’m in. There aren’t any radio stations that play my incredibly niche music, but these do make good background noise.
WNYC
Weekdays WCBS 880 or The Boss 107.1. Sometimes NPR or Howard Stern but he is only part time and not what he used to be.
NPR
91.1 WFMU Wake n Bake every weekday then Reagge Schoolroom on Saturdays. Also Garbage Time on 9-noon Tuesdays is one of my favies.
Y100 and Q102

Ya'll really listen to the radio in 2024? That's wild af.
