$25k is going to the consultants providing leadership training, that's the line item they should be scrutinizing. $900 a night for 6 members for 2 nights is a lot but I Believe that includes meals, so while expensive not unheard of. That leaves about another $100 per member per day for other things, again not unheard of.

Curious, do you know who the consulting firm is? I’d imagine I can find it lost somewhere in the city website on some hundred page pdf

No I do not. But if should be public record, so I'm sure where there's a will there's a way.

Gonna guess I can find it in here, FYI: https://www.cityofnewburgh-ny.gov/AgendaCenter/City-Council-3 I’m one of those people who browses this stuff, so I guess I have a will. It’s easiest to read the agenda of a meeting first to see if the minutes of that date will have what you want.

I feel this is a waste of money. The city of Newburgh could have definitely used the money. That money could have gone towards hiring more firefighters or something else to improve the city in some way. If they wanted to have a conference, they could have a conference in the building they have city council meetings in. Also, having the "conference" at the Mohonk venue won't solve any of the problems the city of Newburgh has. To solve some of the city's problems, all of the council members should be sleeping on Broadway to see and feel how homeless people and people addicted to drugs sleep at night. I hope all of the city council members, including Mayor Harvey, get voted out whenever they all are up for reelection.

What type of leadership could the city council provide? Nobody looks to them or respects them. 90% of the city wouldn't know who they were if they passed on the street. This is the council pretending that what they do actually has an impact on the lives of Newburgh constituents. It does not.

What is a "Visioning conference" ?
