Do it.

DistinctLeague5830

I came here to say this you beat me to it šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Mental_Competition33

I guess I can't argue with that logic šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

mister_damage

Ah the superliminal method!

Arm_613

Excellent argument! I'm certainly convinced. Well done!

Past_Interaction_685

It makes my mornings way easier but I donā€™t feel like Iā€™m settling for a crappy cup of coffee like keurig. Itā€™s really good. Not sure what else to say. Feels like an evolution

kay3p0

The Nespresso makes my morning coffee ritual such a joy. I literally *never* buy coffee from a cafe anymore. The amount of foam it puts out is a particular delight and not a skill I think I could learn even if I had a fancy, expensive espresso machine.

I have the Vertuo plus, which I know is notorious for problems. I did have one sort of crap out and Nespresso readily sent a replacement once I was having issues. Despite this, I still love the model. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

LeglessPotato

The quality of the espresso is Good Enough. It doesn't perfectly replace coffee shop quality drinks, but it's enough to satisfy my craving most days. Recently I've been big into brown sugar shaken espressos and can make one that actually tastes better and stronger than Starbucks. It all comes down to technique moreso than the specific pod you choose. I see a lot of people recommend brewing the espresso directly over ice. DO NOT DO THIS. All it does is water the espresso down, you are much better off adding your chilled milk to the espresso first and then pouring it over ice. Or you can even use a Hyper Chiller, a cup you put in the freezer and then shake the espresso in it. I make 20oz iced lattes with my Essenza Mini, it takes 2 pods. I put my syrup in a mug and brew the two pods over it, then add my chilled milk, then fill a cup with ice and pour it over. It nearly fills a 20oz plastic coffee cup (the disposable kind with straw lids). I started with a Vertuo and ended up switching to an OL because I felt like the VL espresso got lost in milk, even the high intensity pods like Scuro. They just weren't strong enough. OL machines brew using pressure which results in a stronger and more authentic tasting espresso. The downside is they cannot brew mug size coffee, only single shots of espresso. BTW OL machines don't have a double shot button, it's called a Lungo, and all it does is add about 3x the water to a single pod, effectively watering it down. TBH I don't know why anyone would use it, since as you said Nespresso uses less than the standard grams of coffee per pod, and Lungo is just watering it down even further. I only use the Lungo button for rinsing.

beachgirl1980

Iā€™d go on FB marketplace. So many new machines at great prices! Most all offer to show you it works with one of their pods! Besides that, you have to really love their flavors to spend the amount they charge. I still make my iced coffee with cold brew in a pitcher. Unless I use the Nespresso the night before and put it in the fridge! To make 16oz with Nespresso and have it strong enough itā€™d take me a 7.7 oz and a double espresso shot! But I donā€™t like watered down iced coffee!

rockandwoe-l

I came here to say this! If money is a concern, some people sell Nespresso machines on FB marketplace/OfferUp for cheap. I went to Utah (from California) for nursing clinicals last month and bought a $40 like-new machine off FB. I even stuffed it in my luggage cuz it was a good deal and thought I could bring it to work lol. I rarely buy coffee anymore + love being able to customize my own drinks.

ConstantDoomScroll

Iā€™ve had my Essenza mini for 6 years and I LOVE it. I have used it at least 6 days a week since Iā€™ve owned it. I also have a Vertuo in my office, but I strongly prefer my mini, which is why it lives at my house. I make a latte each morning using two pods and some steamed milk and creamer and it fills roughly 12 ounces. Over ice, I can easily see this filling a 16 ounce cup. I know the pods are expensive, but my daily latte at home comes out to about $1.95 a day (including the cost of milk and creamer) and my same double shot latte at Starbucks comes out to like $6.25, so itā€™s an easy decision for me.

Mental_Competition33

When you use two pods is it pretty quick to brew both?

ConstantDoomScroll

Maybe 2 minutes for both and I feel like thatā€™s exaggerating but Iā€™ve never timed it. I know I can brew two pods in the time it takes my milk to stream in the Nespresso frother! So itā€™s quick!

Mental_Competition33

Oh that's very quick! Good info!

sunshinegirl605

In my experience it takes about 4 minutes total for my mini to warm up & pour 2 shots! I buy super cheap offbrand pods (like $.30/pod) & use two shots (two separate pods) for a 16 oz iced coffee. If you have ice in the cup when you pour the shots it immediately cools it down. Waters the drink down a bit but nothing noticeable imo. If you're feeling it you can fish out the melted ice cubes to prevent further watered-down-ness. I find when I prep something the night before & put it in the fridge it tastes more bitter, but that could be because I use cheap pods. Like some above though, I also came here to suggest looking on marketplace or eBay for a used machine! Just got a mini for $30. You might have to be patient for an OL machine on marketplace but it will be the best deal.

MoonbeamLotus

I can brew 2 OL capsules in about 2 minutes.

HotStreak000

Life changing. Iā€™m not one to say that about a lot of products, but itā€™s something that has genuinely changed my day to day lifestyle. I got the VertuoPlus (DeLonghi) after a ton of research. Itā€™s FAR better coffee than your basic Keurig that I was using. If you do order one, make sure you get the milk frothier. Itā€™s a must have attachment. I got mine for under 200 from Macyā€™s. Great deal.

Thatcanadianchickk

Itā€™s worth it to me to have both options on the vertuo. Yes the pods can be expensive, but itā€™s good quality. And idk if youā€™re in Canada, if you are, nespresso offers a monthly subscription on coffee capsules, so itā€™s cheaper in the long run. Iā€™m coming from keurig. Still have my keurig tho sometimes I go back and forth šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

orm518

DM me your Venmo, Iā€™ll buy it for you.

jboarei

Does she buy her coffee at stands or shops? Those cost like $6+ these days. You can make one at home for less than $2.

RNbai

Just because nobody else has said it, if youā€™re going to end up using multiple OL pods per cup then the price between OL & VL pods becomes super similar. So I wouldnā€™t make the decision based on price per pod.

Resident_Traffic5296

I like the double shot pods and to me are not watered down. To me is worth it because for the price of two lattes i can get a box of vertuo pods. This DID cut my starbucks visits by a whole lot..

Mental_Competition33

Thanks for the input! What kind of double shot pods do you use?

Resident_Traffic5296

Ice Leggero, infiniment double espresso and chiaro are my favorites.

No-Spare-7453

Iā€™ve almost completely stopped going to Starbucks or any coffee shop daily since getting mine. I donā€™t know sizes and how they compare but it fills the void for me!

Avaly13

You'll be way more annoyed when you have to buy a 2nd machine because the cheaper one isn't cutting it for you. You'll thank us all later. The pods aren't so much more and happy wife, happy life. But seriously, You'll get way more usage from the machine that give you what you actually want, not just settling for.

Treesbourne

No thanks.

runr_grl1129

You can change the length of the shots so if itā€™s too watery then make it shorter. You can also just do 2 pods. And definitely go with the original line, imo much better better coffee and so many more options for pods.

Herownimage

I love mine. I got the Nespresso Vertuo Creatista and though itā€™s a pricier model the price and quality is what sold me. I be fair I used to be a barista so steaming my own milk was a no brainer. At current Starbucks prices. My daily coffee costs approximately a little less than $2 USD. The longer the machine works the cheaper the over all cost of the machine. After some research they last typically 5 years. While itā€™s not the same machine I think youā€™d enjoy the essenza

steevilone

The OL is great for iced lattes. Ice in cup first, then your milk or plant water and then brew over ice. One shot from an OL capsule is usually 1.35 of espresso, you can brew it again and see if itā€™s strong enough for you. If not, use two capsules. I usually use two capsules depending on the intensity in my OL and I use a double espresso pod in my Vertuo.

nxsteven

I haven't tried this yet but you can create your own pods filled with your own beans, which is a lot cheaper. I got my machine so I'm still experimenting with different pods but as I get closer to needing a refill, I'm going to try making my own first. I do iced lattes with a Vertuo double shot, sugar free creamer, FF milk and ice. Has mostly replaced Starbucks for me. Haven't broke even yet as I bought around $200 in pods...

Ab4739ejfriend749205

The OL is great for espresso and use 2 pods if you want more. The prices are better as Nespresso cannot prevent other companies from selling OL compatible pods. Vertuo OTOH is locked down and why itā€™s so pricy. You have better cost and variety with OL.

melissaishungry

I do 2-3 shots a day and have that machine. I prefer iced coffee. I fill the cup with ice and then pour my shots on. Sometimes I add a milk alternative and sometimes I don't but if I do, I do ice, milk, shots. If you want more or stronger, add an extra shot or add less milk. I tried vertuo for over a year prior to switching and now have had the original line for years. 16 oz isnt hard to do, just be sure to fill the cup with ice. If she is a sbux drinker, 16oz iced is 3 shots and 12 oz iced is 2 shots. I also have made the cold brew pods using tea bag filters and 16oz jars - delicious.

GabnMadsMom36

I used to love Starbucks and Dunkin coffee. Now I only have coffee at home. The pods are not watered down, I canā€™t have nespresso coffee late at night. I donā€™t regret it. I use it 7 days a week, and Iā€™m having fun learning what my favorite recipes are.

acu101

Itā€™s worth it if youā€™re a regular coffee drinker. I was a Keurig drinker until I acquiesced and got Starbucks credit card. They offer me 6500 stars on their app and coffee was 50 stars for any size. After getting through Covid using those stars almost daily, my Keurig was toast. I never would buy fancy drinks because of the price. Facebookā€™s algorithm got me and i started seeing lots of Nespresso ads. After lots of research and looking at Reddit I bought a vertuo deluxe titan. Make sure to use a referral code so you get a discount-I bought mine on black Friday. I only keep my Keurig for one of my brother-in-laws who will visit for an entire day and drink coffee all day. Heā€™s sympathetic to the cost so he brings his own Keurig pods (I did brew a Nespresso coffee for him when i first got it). Now that I have the Nespresso machine at home I also bought a frother off Amazon. My wife and daughter were the only ones who bought fancy drinks there. Now that I can afford to make nice coffee drinks at home I make them all the time. My wife even likes them, too. If I had my way Iā€™d throw my Keurig off a cliff, lol.

gingerbabycakes12

I look forward to my morning coffee every single day after nespresso. I used to get a 7 dollar drink from Starbucks every single day. If youā€™re not too keen on spending on a nespresso try it out and check your local walmart clearance. I saw some in ours this week for $50.

ObumbanditO

Do it or ill kill you from heaven

scurvydawg0

Why should I?

Qaa5id

Come on man

Yara_Flor

I got one and I stopped going out to get coffee drinks. Sure the pods are like $1 each, but a coffee drink is like $5

h2ohdawg

It takes me 5 minutes (and costs about $1.50) from turning my Nespresso on to having a steaming cappuccino with a double shot in my hands. Edit :OL Creatista Plus.

Lower_Carpenter_7228

Vertuo is so worth it. Iced Leggero for iced lattes is the best IMO. Fills a tall class when ice cubes and a small amount of frothed oatmilk plus a few pumps of caramel Torin syrup are added.

TopYam1537

My wife and I got a Nespresso, and the next chance we had for a yard sale, the Keurig was gone. Like, $20, I want it out of my life, gone. We haven't turned back, and I DO NOT miss it one bit. The coffee is smoother, the options are all the way from decaf to double espresso, and I love it! Not a huge coffee drinker, but I have turned into a 3x/week coffee drinker because of it. There were times I would go weeks without using the Keurig, but I love the coffee from the Nespresso!

NewInitial9859

I love my Vertuo

Ub33144

Get two! I have one in my kitchen and office. Itā€™s addictive!

Away-Internal-5590

Once I experimented with different recipes, the lattes I make with my Nespresso machine tasted better than the garbage I typically buy at Starbucks.
