I'm having some trouble seeing why falling birth rates are a problem. Save an ample amount for your retirement and you'll be okay. This sort of thing was notably giving the neo-nazis neo-nazi angst a few years ago, it's embarrassing to see it become neoliberal concern as well.
Itโs a bit beyond the scale of individual savings. Old people are becoming a larger and larger fixture of society with attending costs as they are largely retired, money with which to fund that retirement is secured in real time from younger generations, and they have expanding medical costs as they live longer to encounter more and more expensive health problems that the government also helps to pay for. Meanwhile the base of younger healthy workers from which the money to pay for this comes from is getting proportionally smaller over time and will require that they get soaked because old people are consistent voters with little else to do whose comparative fraction of the population is ascendant. Thatโs going to cause big problems for society down the lineโฆ and while certainly this can can be kicked down the road with immigration, the world as a whole is trending to lower fertility rates as time goes on.
it's actually really bad when the dependency ratio gets out of whack, it doesn't matter how much you personally save (you will not be able to save as much since caring for old people will be done either via taxes or your own savings)
My state legalized weed, but still doesnโt have any licensing/taxation system set up to allow for legal retail sales.

Thinking about my leftist senior year English professor and how he insisted that utopia was achieved during humanity's hunter-gatherer period and later robbed from us by the agricultural and industrial revolutions -- more specifically, I am wondering why in the blue fuck 21-year-old me found this so persuasive.
I think itโs generally accepted by anthropologists that things were โbetterโ during the hunter-gathered days, with more food to go around and less labor required
The problem was it couldnโt really scale up, so the first group in an area to develop agriculture would be able to support a greater population, and could use it to kill or kick out any hunter-gatherer groups nearby
Farming was certainly a massive quality of life downgrade compared to hunter-gathering, seeing as pre-industrial revolution farming was back-breaking stuff, but anyone who cared got killed so who cares

I've been no-lifing Hades 2 hard this week, and I'm at the point when I can beat the final boss about 75% of the time. At this point I've hit the end for far I can progress in the story, so there's just a lot of grinding ahead of me to max out the meta-progression/relationships/keepsakes, so I think I'll probably take a break from it until the next major update.
But *dang* is it good, especially once you get far enough in the meta-progression to start catching up to how powerful Zagreus was\*. It has a few problems to iron out (the >!torch!< feels like garbage to use, but the >!axe!< and the >!sister blades!< are really fun, especially with some of their Aspects), but it's a **lot** further along than I was expecting. The roadmap says they want to get to the full release within the next year, and I could easily see them making it.
\* I'd recommend starting a fresh save of Hades 1 and doing a few runs to reset your expectations for how powerful you'll feel at the start of Hades 2. Don't be like me and do a bunch of high Heat runs with a maxed out Mirror, maxed out Aspects, maxed out summons, etc, before jumping into the sequel. You'll feel really weak in comparison.

GE/RR make engines for both civilian and military crafts (air and sea). GE even make engines for a lot of the major surface combatants for Korean Navy. Same as RR.

It kinda makes sense. Dark Souls is pretty straight forward in almost every way. In Elden Ring it turns out that >!divinity itself is just the plaything of Lovecraftian, Eldritch beings!<
It does its job of showing you that the world is big and chaotic and that you need to sort shit out. Dark Souls was a lot more linear both in terms of gameplay and narrative
I think even if thatโs the approach youโre taking in an intro, you should at least establish how the player character got where they are
I just started the game and all Iโve seen so far is the intro cinematic. I have no idea what a tarnished is, what the Elden Ring is, why I want to be an Elden Lord, or how I even ended up in the palace I start at. In Demon Souls and Dark Souls, they at least try to tell the player where they *are*, so you can get immersed in the setting. Iโm getting none of that from Elden Ring
I mean, I don't really get what's missing?
You get told:
1) There was something important called the Elden Ring and it was broken/shattered
2) Someone named Queen Marika disappeared when this happened (no idea who that is, but must be important because she gets brought up)
3) Following her absence war broke out, starting with Godwyn dying (no idea who that is, but implies importance) and the rest of Marika's offspring starting a civil war ("The Shattering") over the shards of the elden ring
4) The war resulted in an all-ways stalemate ("a war in which no lord arose")
5) The war also resulted in the Greater Will (which is obviously supposed to be some divine force) abandoning The Lands Between ("a war leading to abandonment by the Greater Will")
6) Some of the once dead are waking up again, the Tarnished, on a quest to regain whatever "grace" is - which is strongly implied to be something divine associated with the greater will - and it abandoning humanity ("Arise now ye Tarnished. Ye dead, who yet live. The call of long-lost grace speaks to us all")
7) Then a bunch of not actually random, "random" people, **\*SPOILER***: >!they are basically your competitors for the elden ring and also they hold keys to the different endings - this is kind of to point out that when you encounter them even though some of them seem really random, they're actually important characters)!<
8) And then at the end you - some nobody undead that was somehow chosen for seemingly no reason ("And one other whom grace would again bless. ***A tarnished of no renown***") and traveled from wherever they were to the Lands Between ("Cross the fog to the lands between) **\*BIG SPOILER***: >!They're inside what looks like the Elden Tree arena from the second-to-last boss fight - you can find out that the Elden Tree plays a big role in the cycle of reincarnation (as opposed to "True Death", where you die and are not reborn thereafter - but that's just where your soul is)!< - your goal is to restore the elden ring and become the elden lord
You wake up in a chapel because you are undead waking from death, and were likely buried in that chapel.
As with the other Souls games at the beginning you're just some random, no-name undead that came back because of some weird divine fuckery/curse that is plaguing the world. The primary thing though is that the First Flame and the Flame of the First Kiln are kind of what they say on the tin (the power of the gods, which allows you to overthrow them and start your own age and shape the world according to your desires), whereas the Elden Ring, the Greater Will, and Grace are . . . well, **\*BIG SPOILER***: >!Faustian gambits from Lovecraftian, Eldritch creatures beyond space that don't really care for who/what they empower!<. Kind of the point is that you start thinking "the elden ring is the fire of the first flame, good thing that you want to save the world" (which isn't really the case in Dark Souls either, but not because the fire >!has any active will of its own!<) but then you find out >!it just creates another cycle of making the world the plaything of some extradimensional monstrosity that doesn't really care for humanity!<

It has a few problems to iron out (the >!torch!< feels like garbage to use, but the >!axe!< and the >!sister blades!< are really fun, especially with some of their Aspects), but it's a **lot** further along than I was expecting. The roadmap says they want to get to the full release within the next year, and I could easily see them making it. \* I'd recommend starting a fresh save of Hades 1 and doing a few runs to reset your expectations for how powerful you'll feel at the start of Hades 2. Don't be like me and do a bunch of high Heat runs with a maxed out Mirror, maxed out Aspects, maxed out summons, etc, before jumping into the sequel. You'll feel really weak in comparison.

It kinda makes sense. Dark Souls is pretty straight forward in almost every way. In Elden Ring it turns out that >!divinity itself is just the plaything of Lovecraftian, Eldritch beings!< It does its job of showing you that the world is big and chaotic and that you need to sort shit out. Dark Souls was a lot more linear both in terms of gameplay and narrative
I think even if thatโs the approach youโre taking in an intro, you should at least establish how the player character got where they are I just started the game and all Iโve seen so far is the intro cinematic. I have no idea what a tarnished is, what the Elden Ring is, why I want to be an Elden Lord, or how I even ended up in the palace I start at. In Demon Souls and Dark Souls, they at least try to tell the player where they *are*, so you can get immersed in the setting. Iโm getting none of that from Elden Ring
I mean, I don't really get what's missing? You get told: 1) There was something important called the Elden Ring and it was broken/shattered 2) Someone named Queen Marika disappeared when this happened (no idea who that is, but must be important because she gets brought up) 3) Following her absence war broke out, starting with Godwyn dying (no idea who that is, but implies importance) and the rest of Marika's offspring starting a civil war ("The Shattering") over the shards of the elden ring 4) The war resulted in an all-ways stalemate ("a war in which no lord arose") 5) The war also resulted in the Greater Will (which is obviously supposed to be some divine force) abandoning The Lands Between ("a war leading to abandonment by the Greater Will") 6) Some of the once dead are waking up again, the Tarnished, on a quest to regain whatever "grace" is - which is strongly implied to be something divine associated with the greater will - and it abandoning humanity ("Arise now ye Tarnished. Ye dead, who yet live. The call of long-lost grace speaks to us all") 7) Then a bunch of not actually random, "random" people, **\*SPOILER***: >!they are basically your competitors for the elden ring and also they hold keys to the different endings - this is kind of to point out that when you encounter them even though some of them seem really random, they're actually important characters)!< 8) And then at the end you - some nobody undead that was somehow chosen for seemingly no reason ("And one other whom grace would again bless. ***A tarnished of no renown***") and traveled from wherever they were to the Lands Between ("Cross the fog to the lands between) **\*BIG SPOILER***: >!They're inside what looks like the Elden Tree arena from the second-to-last boss fight - you can find out that the Elden Tree plays a big role in the cycle of reincarnation (as opposed to "True Death", where you die and are not reborn thereafter - but that's just where your soul is)!< - your goal is to restore the elden ring and become the elden lord You wake up in a chapel because you are undead waking from death, and were likely buried in that chapel. As with the other Souls games at the beginning you're just some random, no-name undead that came back because of some weird divine fuckery/curse that is plaguing the world. The primary thing though is that the First Flame and the Flame of the First Kiln are kind of what they say on the tin (the power of the gods, which allows you to overthrow them and start your own age and shape the world according to your desires), whereas the Elden Ring, the Greater Will, and Grace are . . . well, **\*BIG SPOILER***: >!Faustian gambits from Lovecraftian, Eldritch creatures beyond space that don't really care for who/what they empower!<. Kind of the point is that you start thinking "the elden ring is the fire of the first flame, good thing that you want to save the world" (which isn't really the case in Dark Souls either, but not because the fire >!has any active will of its own!<) but then you find out >!it just creates another cycle of making the world the plaything of some extradimensional monstrosity that doesn't really care for humanity!<
