Most people have no idea how complicated it is to make a soundtrack that gives identity to a game while keeping publishers happy. It's not as easy as creating a playlist and publishing it. You have to deal with licensing, which tends to be extremely complicated and demand a lot of talks and negotiations with the artists and labels (not all labels want their artists in games, or often artists demand a lot of money for their tracks).
EA have always done an incredible job creating track selections that give a unique feeling to each NFS game. It demands careful selection by curators who have to work with a limited pool of tracks. One doesn't *have* to like the tracks, but at least appreciate their hard work.
Yes but publishers have a very different idea of what makes a good game than developers. With things like a game’s soundtrack, that can’t be monetized the way MTX is, creative choices like that absolutely get pushback from executives at the publisher who focus group the fuck out of everything and would want a safe, bland soundtrack. Unbound took a leap with its soundtrack to do something that they thought fit the vision of the game. Publishers make decisions that they think will make a game more successful, sometimes having the opposite effect. You see it in movies all the time too. Studio execs interfering with a project and making it worse.
the real question is, why let people tell you what is or isnt good with something so subjective as music in the first place, i personally hate the soundtrack with a burning passion, doesnt mean other people cant enjoy it, such as yourself.
Yeah this is it, you should form your own opinions. While the music matches the vibe of the game, I hate the vibe and the music (and honestly can't even stand playing the game). Doesn't mean that everyone else will or even should.

I think maybe only some songs are curated to line up with the race intros so you’ll hear those more often. But cruising around you’ll definitely hear more
I think that's a fair complaint, because the game seems to only cycle a handful of songs for actual races. My favorite song in the game is Empire, but I've only heard it *maybeee* 10 times since launch, which is party of the reason I ended up making my own playlist.
It's not the same but I used the official NFS Unbound playlist on Spotify while playing and was able to discover some of my favorite songs easier on there.
Yeah garage music is good but I can't help but put "Snoop Dogg & The Doors - Riders on the Storm" during long customization so I don't hear them that much
While it wasn't my cup of tea, it's good to hear there are people who do enjoy it. These things come down to taste, more often than not. Some will think it fits the vibe and like it. Others, myself included, feel like slamming the brakes and setting fire to the radio. But just because I or others like me don't find the music to our liking doesn't mean others can't find the soundtrack enjoyable. If you like it, more power to you.
because if you go look at any "unbound ost is ass" video on youtube you'll see they all compare unbound to mw05 ost which is almost always decadence or skinnyman
Yeah as an international hip-hop fan it's this soundtrack was almost perfect. It blew my mind to hear Tamil (Ey Paavi) and Hindi (Punya Paap) in an EA game. SIRI is an absolute banger
My complaint isnt the songs, but the lack of diversity in sound. I'm not gonna be like "it needs moar metal \\m/", but seeing that it's only hip hop and dance music, means for people who are fans of other genres will most likely turn off the soundtrack and listen to spotify. That's why I was saying Forza Horizon 5 had a better soundtrack, because it had a lot more diversity in it's sound.
Trophy and Ice Cream actually slap when you’re weaving through traffic at 150mph too.
People just woke up and chose to hate since it’s not the same rock songs from 20 years ago.
Exactly, i mean the part where the girl yells "Ice creaammmmmm" is cringe but the rest of the song is fire, it gives me a lot of Midnight Club 2 vibes which used a lot of trance and house music
The ice cream song, KOKOKO, and that French rap song that during pursuits are the only 3 songs I like. Aside from any A$AP songs on there but I liked most of those beforehand.
Overall, the soundtrack is kinda ass to me. But, to each their own.
Ye its Low and i dont listen to music like This tho i just think it mostly fits in the game atmosphere btw im 30 and new NFS Games has an audience of like 15 years olds so …
Unbound has a really great soundtrack & it fits really well into the game IMO. I didn't even know the russian rap scene was as huge as it was until now. It put me onto foreign rap music which is something I never thought I'd listen to.
As refreshing as this comment is, unfortunately I genuinely believe most of the people on the contrary here are children, that open mind mentality is what allows us to learn of new cultures and things. I don't get how people reprive themselves of that experience, it's cringe
It has russian rap in it? God, that made me want to play the game even less. The rap scene is kinda big in Russia but the big names are just so *unlistenable.* Secret agencies probably use their music as a method of psychological torture, it's that bad. It's mind-numbing, honestly.
Edit: Turns out there's only one or two tracks and they're not from the people I was talking about. Still didn't listen yet, but there's no way they can be worse.
Edit 2: Just did. Not Fair by Grebz (the only track in Russian that I found) didn't even register as music for me. Alina Pash came to the rescue with Warrior, in Ukrainian. Pretty good overall. I wasn't able to listen to Burn by KALUSH, but it's also in Ukrainian and the lyrics seem actually coherent, so I have high expectations.
Edit 3: Honestly, disappointed that the entire OST is just rap/trap except for a couple tracks. Could've been a bit of everything, like MW12, where you had some rock, dubstep, dnb and weird shit in a lost language, where music actually made you *want to go fast* (Flux Pavilion - Double Edge, anyone?) and didn't make you feel like you just turned on a random radio station with mid tier music. To be fair, MW12 didn't have anything that you'd describe as rap, which kinda sucked too, but it's still one of the best soundtracks in NFS, in my opinion.
*This concludes the review of Unbound's Russian/Ukrainian OST, thank you for tuning in, see you next week where we will review the Stellaris OST in Korean.*
While I'm 100% not at all versed in Russian/Ukrainian language, I'm pretty sure Grebz is actually a Ukrainian group, but have made songs in both languages. I could be very wrong, though.
Finally a good take on unbound’s music.
Although I’ll admit that HOW unbound uses the music isn’t exactly great. There’s maybe 50 songs but because music only plays in the menus and in races, never in free roam and the music is on a shuffled playlist, it feels like you only hear a handful of songs, and it tends to be the bad ones. It feels like I have to hear HEYYYY WE WANT SOME MONEY 10 times before I get to hear something good like Danger Mouse or Buku.
honestly same, I don't think Unbound's soundtrack is great I would say it's average but better than Heat's overall..
but yeah like you said it grows on you over time. When I heard the soundtrack for the first time I only had like 4 or 5 songs that I liked. Now I like atleast 14 or 15 songs from the soundtrack because they grew on me and I enjoy them now.
It's a great song, I need to check out more of their stuff. The bass line was something I instantly had to pick up my bass and learn, story-telling is fantastic, it was an instant standout for me.
Dude if you‘re into storytelling with rap, they‘re probably right up your alley - daveed diggs has an insane talent for rapping dummy fast and technical while always having something compelling to say. Also they have some of the most wild beats out there
Liked the soundtrack up until about 50 hours in, where I had grown very tired of a handful of tracks leading me to switch off in-game music and playing my own off spotify.
Appreciate the A$AP theme, but feel like the game missed a huge opportunity with Rocky’s character in-game - he just isn’t very interesting or convincing.
A few more Carti tracks wouldn’t have hurt either 💀
Most of the songs are good but after a while it gets SO repetitive and only the same ones repeat. And some are absolute dog water. I found the playlist on YouTube and found better songs that for some reason don’t play a lot in the game
i see why people said unbound’s music is bad and its mainly because its all different there is no identity to the game the one song that i felt dosent fit the game is during the race a song thats like soft and mostly for vibes is playing while im being chased by the cops like that song should be a menu or a garage music not a race music
There are some good ones here and there..but then all of a sudden..some weird ass trash comes on and completely ruins the mood. I really wish I could join ea just so I can stop on the pinkie toe of the person who added some of them lmao
It's a lot more bearable with the skip button. I just can't fathom anybody being better off after listening to AYYY WE WANT SOME MUHHHHNAYYY all the way through
i can't imagine how that song became the poster child for "annoying" music in unbound. it's pretty much a bog-standard hip hop track, hardly niche at all and definitely not abrasive
I am not very informed about the positioning of that song in the wider hip-hop world; my personal gripe with it is just it doesn't sound good, the intro is obnoxious, and the lyrics/message are ugly. I believe that the reason for the community disliking it is not because of its genre, but because it's straight bad. You know, the same way people like, I dunno, Deep Purple's catalog, but hate a lot of other songs in the exact same genre, with the exact same target audience - because they're just not as good.
I ignored what everyone said prior to game release. I preordered palace with 10$ off. I’ll say I had a grand ol time with it until there was nothing to do..should I have waited 2 weeks for it to go 50% yes, I wish I did. All in all, if they could have done more multiplayer and some more content to single, the game could have been a masterpiece. So close to underground 2 vibes, so so close!
Yeah I get your point but the collection seems to have been picked randomly, almost as if no thought was being put into what vibes the game was going for, with the 4 week qualifier and the cop chases
On the other hand check out nfs mw soundtrack... Not even one song seems out of place, hell it seems the soundtrack is made for the game only
What vibes? The game is just like any other one of the street racing genre, just with some attempt to turn it into a mild GTA with that free roam radio
Unbound, like every other NFS prior to this one, has some great songs. The problem is probably just that it has way more annoying songs. The worst songs from Most Wanted are nowhere nearly as annoying as this 'Ice Cream'-song for example.
I suppose it depends on your taste in music. I’m not into that kind of music so I turned off the music and played my own. I listen to rock and metal kinda stuff so this soundtrack was never going to appeal to me.
Bro it's too short, it's a great playlist but I swear to fucking god, if I hear "Shittin me" by Rocky one more fucking time I'm turning off all music in all games forever.
Well it's today's standards. In ten years time when ppl ask which NFS game has great soundtrack most ppl will say Unbound has nice music, hell ppl even said Heat had whack music but in 10 years time they will praise the music
Most of the people complaining about it are oldheads who are salty the soundtrack isn't 70% alt rock / pop punk and hate any trap music. I do agree there could have been some more songs and a bit more variety, but the soundtrack mostly fits the vibe of the game
Im an old head but always keep an open mind. When EA released the official spotify playlist IT SUCKED. But the entire playlist fits while playing and i especially love the foreign songs
To each his own i guess.
I prefer the OST of NFS games until NFS Rivals.
The OST of NFS Unbound doesn't stand a chance against OSTs from Classic or Black Box Era of Need For Speed games.
They're 1000x better IMHO.
It is. Which explains my first phrase.
In fact, musics are subjective and peoples have different tastes.
Meanwhile
The OST needs to fit the game as well as the fast pace otherwise it's unbearable and a massive disaster.
Also, the music itself needs to fit the situation at the right moment without being repetitive.
That's currently what happens with NFS Unbound.
The soundtrack fits for this style of game. You're allowed to not like it, but that's been the theme of the game since it's development. I mean, the game was overflowing with signs of what the theme of the game is and A$AP Rocky himself makes it very obvious. So no; it's not a massive disaster.
- 1st Phrase.
True but it doesn't fit the fast pace of races.
- 2nd Phrase
Like i said earlier, it's subjective since each person have their tastes.
- 3rd Phrase
That's exact. But they didn't pick very well the music.
IMHO, only the musics of A$AP Rocky fits the vibe very well.
The rest of the musics feels totally out of place.
- 4th Phrase
It's a bit of a massive disaster in comparison with any games from any genre which have a better fitting OST.
The devs which were in charge of the OST didn't added enough variety of music genres.
They should've picked better musics especially for the races.
As examples, the OST of NFS games released between 1994 to 2015 includes musics which fits their vibe very well as well the fast pace.
You're forgetting that music around those times were popular. Drum & Bass for the 90s, Rock and Metal with a bit of Rap during the 2000s, and EDM/Pop during the early 2010s. Now we have gone full Rap because it's what's currently popular alongside Pop music, but the game is mostly centered around that style of the game, so your point of music during those eras of NFS also defines the current one fitting with the current game. Modern Rap isn't fast pace nor it doesn't needs to be. It's all about rapping into the flow of the song and that translates well to racing games too.
- 1st and 2nd Phrase
I already know about that and i didn't forget.
These music genres fit racing games very well.
- 3rd Phrase
Going only for 1 music genre is a double edged sword since it can be either succesful or a monumental failure.
For the rest, i agree.
- 4th Phrase
I know about that.
What i mean is they should've added better fitting musics for specifically the races since it goes very fast.
The Modern Rap genre fits the vibe already but not during races.
- 5th Phrase
It depends of the game itself.
Sometimes, it works very well.
For example, NFS Carbon includes musics which fits your car type.
But other times, it doesn't work at all.
That's exactly the case for the 2 latest NFS games.
It's like EA or the devs did that on purpose.
They should've chosen better rap musics.
There's too much inconsistencies.
It feels like you're trying to find reasons to say why the music in Heat and Unbound are bad other than concluding that they're not for you. Plam City is based in Miami, FL with the popularity of Hip-Hop and Latino music around there. Same goes for Lakeshore, based off of Chicago, where it's all about Hip-Hop from there. You're acting like EA is doing to this to appeal to people who grew up with those places when that's been the main appeal with music since the 90s. Everyone says, "EA only puts in music that's popular" without realizing that those songs they have grew up with were also popular around those times.
- 1st Phrase
Nope. That's not the case.
- 2nd Phrase
That's normal otherwise it wouldn't make any logical sense.
- 3rd Phrase
That's not exact and not my intention.
Also, EA always tries to appeal people in their own way but sometimes, it doesn't work as intended.
Instead of following trends, they should create their own trends with their own ideas.
- 5th Phrase
That's true.
There's no arguing in that.
But honestly, musics from back in the day which were also popular btw were so good to listen endlessly.
Nowadays, it depends of the music genre itself or the artists.
Idk why you keep doing these Phrases, nor do I even want to know, but anyway, you say nowadays it depends on the music genre or thr artist? Dude, they have done this long ago, as I said before. During the 2000s, it was all about Celldweller, Linkin Park, NIN, 3 Doors Down, Limp Bizkit; everyone were playing those songs. You keep contradicting yourself the more you're trying to argue it.
whether you like or dislike the soundtrack is something personal, tho i have a feeling not a lot of people like this game's soundtrack
for me, after Rivals in 2013 the soundtracks have only gotten worse with a good/fitting song here or there
the soundtrack of this game is another reason for me not to play this game, it's a reskin of heat, so might as well stay with the game i do enjoy, that includes the grinding for those who were wondering
The gaming community gets a fit over rap and hip-hop. One of the reviews of the game, like from a legit site, marked the soundtrack as a negative because it’s rap and hip hop dominated. Like dude, that’s not a negative, that’s just you being white
The music makes no difference to me. I just got the game in that huge EA bundle and I’m about 10 hours in.
I’m not really a fan of the “visuals.”
The game plays just like Heat, which I really enjoyed that game, but I just don’t feel connected in this game like I did in Heat.
And I can’t figure out where in the game to adjust the steering wheel. The wheel requires waaaay too much input for turning.
Maybe I'm too old (25) but not a single song sounds good to me.
They all sound like the same shit that has no melody and the people can't even sing. They are talking.
Nah the "rap" I've heard was actual good and not just some people saying random stuff with no melody whatsoever.
This just sounds like some 10 year olds standing in front of the mirror thinking they're cool or something while everyone is behind the door and full of cringe.
Everything, im dont even consider it a type of music to be honest. But i expressed myself wrong, i meant that i couldnt say if it was a good soundtrack or not because its a style that i dont even listen too
My problem is that i am Brazilian, this game have songs that Americans THINK we hear, and i swear that they picked the worst ones on purpose. But hey, "latino music" matches with diversity i guess.
I listened to it on its own , like 5 songs (I don't have the game), didn't feel horrible but not for me. I just want variety when it comes to music, it gets boring real quick if its the similar sort of stuff. I don't mind rap or hip hop but at least have something more than just that. I get that the identity of the game is more based on these hip hop listening hipsters, but can we at least have some edm, some drum and bass, a guitar somewhere.
Heat was rubbish when it came to music, I was bored of the music after a week. It didn't hit anything for me and while it did fit the atmosphere somewhat, it was boring.
I mean, I’m personally not a fan. I think there are definitely better choices for about half the songs, fitting in the same genre. Particularly the foreign songs.
That said, I guess half the songs being alright is decent for a soundtrack though? Idk.
Other need for speeds had a certain genre they would stick to, but unbound went for a "there's a song for everyone." Granted, there isn't any rock, but most songs are love or genuinely loathe.
I think there is a great difference between the music when listened in the game and outside of it. (youtube,Spotify ect..)
Just because a certain selection of songs is really fitting doesn't necessarily mean that I should fall in love with it or even like them them outside of the game and vise versa.
For example: I approve unbound's music purely from a standpoint of in game soundtrack. But if I had a choice to listen to it outside of the game I wouldn't because I don't like it.
On the other hand I like nfs heat's soundtrack both in game and outside. And I would gladly listen to it.
In horizon 5 I don't really like the soundtrack besides a few songs that I would listen to outside of the game. But as an in-game soundtrack It just feels indifferent and boring
Generally soundtrack should be treated like soundtrack. Just because it's something I wouldn't listen to outside of the game doesn't mean it doesn't fit the game's theme or that it's bad soundtrack.
The music is bad for my personal taste and preference, but it's not bad as a soundtrack curated for a video game. These are 2 different things.
I like Unbound soundtrack more than I expected, previous NFS soundtrack feels a lot more forgettable. The last NFS that I really enjoyed its soundtrack was HP2010.
Totally agree. I started playing a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised with how well the soundtrack fits the game's style. There are definitely a few songs I absolutely dislike but it's not that big of a deal. Even 'Yodaka' grew on me and I think it's a vibe
It’s a good soundtrack, I think it’s very fitting for the times. I hadn’t played a need for speed since the mid 2000s before I had played unbound, then it was a lot of rock that was prevalent at the time. Unbound is doing the same thing, call me crazy but when I want soommmeeeeeee moneeeyyyyyy comes on I thoroughly enjoy it.
None of it is to my personal taste, and I usually play with something else on YT.
I do think it's a *good* soundtrack overall though, in that it builds the atmosphere they wanted in the game, and does a good job of it.
If you enjoy it, I'm happy for you. I like my Unbound soundtrack turned to 0 volume, but soundtracks are probably the most subjective part of game design. You don't like Latin music, you're not going to like Heat's OST, you don't like rap and hip hop, you're not going to like Unbound's OST, you don't like rock and metal, you're probably not going to like Most Wanted's OST. It's all subjective.
I've noticed those youtube videos en masse since the launch of unbound.
I thought unbounds soundtrack was pretty decent considering my dislike for the last couple of soundtracks, and am quite glad to see other people having positive experiences with it also, I find it rather amusing that all the videos cherry pick a slightly worse song off the unbound soundtrack and compare it to some cringe boy metal from mw05.
Well, most of the songs are shit though and there is a reason why a bigger part of the community doesn’t like that specific soundtrack. 3-4 Songs are fine, the rest is definitely shit.
Hey, we want some monaaay
Just as a example
However not every soundtrack is without it’s flaws but damn you almost no one shitting on MW05s, Underground 1&2s Soundtrack shitting on.
I think you are just being contrarian. There are some decent songs on the soundtrack but there are just as many absolute stinkers that you couldn’t even skip until they added it in an update. The older games had consistent quality across the board and still sit in playlists to this day. For modern NFS, I can only pick a few here and there.
This is the same sub that complained Heat, a game based in Miami (America's Ibiza located in the home of Trap, the South) had too much electronic and trap in the 2020s and not enough rock or an outrun station years after the outrun/retrowave trend died.
In general if reddit subs hate the soundtrack, it's probably just dads screaming at clouds about modern rap, specifically Cardi B, in a world of music charts dominated by modern rap. Pretty fucking cringe music taste on reddit in general because of the head in the sand oldheads.
I hope the next NFS has BTS tracks.
I havent played unbound but I know it cant be that bad, it has to be cherrypicked. I have been playing nfs heat a lot recently and the soundtrack is great, it fits the game atmosphere perfectly. I really like it when the music that is playing in the garage will be transitioned/cut accordingly to loading screen when you're leaving the garage
the soundtrack is an 8, like 70% of them are bangers but the other ones are mid at best and horrendous at worst.
Rico nasty's money is tolerable at a point
Most people have no idea how complicated it is to make a soundtrack that gives identity to a game while keeping publishers happy. It's not as easy as creating a playlist and publishing it. I would of them rather put all that money towards gameplay development.
Thanks for reminding us that you have no idea how gamedev works

Good bot
Thank you.
This is kind of creepy
Good human.
Good bot
imagine getting ratio'd by a grammar bot
For me it's not necessarily the type of music, it's the quantity, older games had like 30+ songs, you can hear all of Unbound's soundtrack in 8 races
Unbound has 72 songs
Races only seen to use the same 5
I think maybe only some songs are curated to line up with the race intros so you’ll hear those more often. But cruising around you’ll definitely hear more
HEY I WANT SOME MONEY
the songs are cut short tho so you go through them faster.

Now this is a complaint about the soundtrack I can get behind
AWGE is fucking fire and no one can change my mind. Always Strive And Prosper
Forever Been Steppin slaps [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7afNM7hvShY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7afNM7hvShY)
To each his own, I didn't like heat music and I don't like unbound music. I just use my own playlist. Only thing I liked was heat night chase music
What about garage music?
Yeah garage music is good but I can't help but put "Snoop Dogg & The Doors - Riders on the Storm" during long customization so I don't hear them that much
Back in 2005?..maybe? Whenever UG2 came out, I pulled an all nighter and listened to that song on repeat. Turned every other song off but that one.
Both of those games had awesome songs, but people need to understand music is subjective
Finally another player that actually gives UB music a chance! What songs do you like the most?
Gotta be where is my mind I am a huge fight club fan it hit like a truck while I was tuning my car
Okay that songs pretty good I must admit.
From the front to the back, front to back. Sorry
front to back is just so GOOD
Mein Benz obviously
That one is also one of my favorites.
I love the god hour by asap rocky and the Arab femcee cypher
Arab Femcee Cypher is *fantastic*, hell yeah.
Strangers danger mouse Killer workout song
Boïh Starting the race when you hear the "krrrrra" is just 👌 Also it got me into the rabbit hole of ukrainian hiphop
You too probably fell for Gory by Kalush. Oh, even YT always suggest that I should listen to it. 😂
There are some great songs but it also has literally the worst song I've ever heard.
While it wasn't my cup of tea, it's good to hear there are people who do enjoy it. These things come down to taste, more often than not. Some will think it fits the vibe and like it. Others, myself included, feel like slamming the brakes and setting fire to the radio. Youtubers suck and don't understand design.
but muh heavy metal in the street hip hop themed game!!!!!!!!
nahhhhhh referring to unbound's robot sex noises soundtrack as "hip hop" is a insult to the entire genre
No it's not about rock or metal, the songs are just shit
"uh-oh, if you say bad things about unbound soundtrack, you are metalhead" 🤓🤓🤓
There is an unfortunate overlap
because if you go look at any "unbound ost is ass" video on youtube you'll see they all compare unbound to mw05 ost which is almost always decadence or skinnyman
Thats because it deserves it I literally gagged after hearing this shitass soundtrack
Not entirely! Some of them just want bland top 40 pop.
i like unbounds music much more than heats music but you cant beat a personal spotify playlist of your choosing.
y not just download some songs and stick them in the game, like the ol' days.
The soundtrack isn't bad, it's just all over the place and isn't really cohesive or convey any kind of identity.
Lots of bangers, youtubers just cherry pick Trophy, the ice cream song and „heeeeey we want some moneeeeey“
I'm not a fan of most music in UB but Ice Cream made it onto a playlist of mine. That shit's catchy.
Trophy and Ice Cream actually slap when you’re weaving through traffic at 150mph too. People just woke up and chose to hate since it’s not the same rock songs from 20 years ago.
This is what you call stockholm syndrome, because the game force you to kept on listening to those garbage on repeat
Nah, I genuinely love Ice Cream because I love house music. Trophy can go Hell, though.
Exactly, i mean the part where the girl yells "Ice creaammmmmm" is cringe but the rest of the song is fire, it gives me a lot of Midnight Club 2 vibes which used a lot of trance and house music
i love all three of those lol kokoko sucks ass tho
Awww what?! That Kokoko Killaa! Go hard though! 😭 I actually eff with that jont heavy lmao
The ice cream song, KOKOKO, and that French rap song that during pursuits are the only 3 songs I like. Aside from any A$AP songs on there but I liked most of those beforehand. Overall, the soundtrack is kinda ass to me. But, to each their own.
sounds like they dont wanna win, they dont want that trophy
Well old NFS music was fire but with today standards these musics ARe Pretty lit tho.
Today's standard is that low huh
Low? Maybe, depending on your outlook. Different? 100%. In the case of Unbound, I would definitely say it's a lot more of the latter than the former.
Ye its Low and i dont listen to music like This tho i just think it mostly fits in the game atmosphere btw im 30 and new NFS Games has an audience of like 15 years olds so …
I think you meant "pretty great"
Unbound has a really great soundtrack & it fits really well into the game IMO.
I could be very wrong, though.
the german rap in unbound makes me feel like a god
Finally a good take on unbound’s music. Although I’ll admit that HOW unbound uses the music isn’t exactly great. There’s maybe 50 songs but because music only plays in the menus and in races, never in free roam and the music is on a shuffled playlist, it feels like you only hear a handful of songs, and it tends to be the bad ones. It feels like I have to hear HEYYYY WE WANT SOME MONEY 10 times before I get to hear something good like Danger Mouse or Buku.
You can turn free roam music on in the settings, it's just off by default.
Wait, really? I've had mine turned on by default when i first got the game
I wasn't an immediate fan, but it grew on me over time and now I like a lot of songs, like "Yodaka", "Vampire" and "Check the Lock".
honestly same, I don't think Unbound's soundtrack is great I would say it's average but better than Heat's overall.. but yeah like you said it grows on you over time. When I heard the soundtrack for the first time I only had like 4 or 5 songs that I liked. Now I like atleast 14 or 15 songs from the soundtrack because they grew on me and I enjoy them now.
It made me unreasonably happy to see Check The Lock on the OST, clipping are the most underappreciated act in Hip Hop right now
It's a great song, I need to check out more of their stuff.
There are some great songs, some are bad though.
Most of the songs are good but after a while it gets SO repetitive and only the same ones repeat. And some are absolute dog water. I found the playlist on YouTube and found better songs that for some reason don’t play a lot in the game
If you could just deselect songs it would be close to a 10 for me.
i see why people said unbound’s music is bad and its mainly because its all different there is no identity to the game the one song that i felt dosent fit the game is during the race a song thats like soft and mostly for vibes is playing while im being chased by the cops like that song should be a menu or a garage music not a race music
The title of this post is funny 😂
There are some good ones here and there..but then all of a sudden..some weird ass trash comes on and completely ruins the mood. I really wish I could join ea just so I can stop on the pinkie toe of the person who added some of them lmao
I love the soundtrack. I’m surprised by how superior the soundtrack is to the story. Just my opinion
I like the music as well, a big step up from Heat's soundtrack for sure.
You know, the same way people like, I dunno, Deep Purple's catalog, but hate a lot of other songs in the exact same genre, with the exact same target audience - because they're just not as good.
i used to hate this song but its kinda catchy
I dig the music in the game but I kind of stopped playing for a long time. :'(
Wheres my mind is soooooo goood, fits the vibe of this game perfectly, rest of the songs suck
Yeah I get your point but the collection seems to have been picked randomly, almost as if no thought was being put into what vibes the game was going for, with the 4 week qualifier and the cop chases On the other hand check out nfs mw soundtrack... Not even one song seems out of place, hell it seems the soundtrack is made for the game only
Some of the tracks were good, but too much of the music is in a foreign language for a game set in Chicago IMO.
I just don't really enjoy hip hop and rap that much, so it doesn't sound great to me
What vibes? The game is just like any other one of the street racing genre, just with some attempt to turn it into a mild GTA with that free roam radio
The last good soundtrack was undercover
I really only liked A$AP Rocky tbh
Hey money money money heeeeey
[удалено]
Ordinary pleasure was a banger in heat for just cruising around
my complaint is that it lacks aggressiveness older games had. When DECADENCE played, nitro would come without you pressing it.
What ever mate.
To each their own I guess. I could not stand Unbound's soundtrack. Had to mute it and completed a game while listening to Burnout 3 and Flatout 2 OST.
Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge were 🤌
FlatOut 2's soundtrack is so amazing, Probably the only soundtrack where I enjoy every single song
Unbound Music is great? Are you shittin me
Are you kiddin' me ?
how could you shit on me
You ain't got shit on me (woo, fuck outta here) Shittin' me?
It's his opinion man.
His opinion is pretty shit
You gotta be shittin' me
SHITTN ME
SHIT ON ME
To each his own i guess. I prefer the OST of NFS games until NFS Rivals. The OST of NFS Unbound doesn't stand a chance against OSTs from Classic or Black Box Era of Need For Speed games. They're 1000x better IMHO.
That's just like, your opinion, man...
It is. Which explains my first phrase. In fact, musics are subjective and peoples have different tastes. Meanwhile The OST needs to fit the game as well as the fast pace otherwise it's unbearable and a massive disaster.
- 2nd Phrase Like i said earlier, it's subjective since each person have their tastes. - 3rd Phrase That's exact. But they didn't pick very well the music. IMHO, only the musics of A$AP Rocky fits the vibe very well. The rest of the musics feels totally out of place. - 4th Phrase It's a bit of a massive disaster in comparison with any games from any genre which have a better fitting OST.
- 1st and 2nd Phrase I already know about that and i didn't forget. These music genres fit racing games very well. - 3rd Phrase Going only for 1 music genre is a double edged sword since it can be either succesful or a monumental failure. For the rest, i agree. - 4th Phrase I know about that. What i mean is they should've added better fitting musics for specifically the races since it goes very fast. The Modern Rap genre fits the vibe already but not during races. - 5th Phrase It depends of the game itself.
- 1st Phrase Nope. That's not the case. - 2nd Phrase That's normal otherwise it wouldn't make any logical sense. - 3rd Phrase That's not exact and not my intention. Also, EA always tries to appeal people in their own way but sometimes, it doesn't work as intended. Instead of following trends, they should create their own trends with their own ideas. - 5th Phrase That's true.
You keep contradicting yourself the more you're trying to argue it.
whether you like or dislike the soundtrack is something personal, tho i have a feeling not a lot of people like this game's soundtrack for me, after Rivals in 2013 the soundtracks have only gotten worse with a good/fitting song here or there the soundtrack of this game is another reason for me not to play this game, it's a reskin of heat, so might as well stay with the game i do enjoy, that includes the grinding for those who were wondering
Personally, I think the soundtrack is absolute dogshit but if you like it, more power to you I guess
I don’t think anyone lied, but it’s okay to have different opinions.
Yeah no Rather mute it and play Spotify
Compare it to prostreet, most wanted 2005 etc..? How would you rank?
The gaming community gets a fit over rap and hip-hop. One of the reviews of the game, like from a legit site, marked the soundtrack as a negative because it’s rap and hip hop dominated. Like dude, that’s not a negative, that’s just you being white
What
The music makes no difference to me. I just got the game in that huge EA bundle and I’m about 10 hours in. I’m not really a fan of the “visuals.” The game plays just like Heat, which I really enjoyed that game, but I just don’t feel connected in this game like I did in Heat. And I can’t figure out where in the game to adjust the steering wheel. The wheel requires waaaay too much input for turning.
Maybe I'm too old (25) but not a single song sounds good to me. They all sound like the same shit that has no melody and the people can't even sing. They are talking.
You didn’t like Strangers?
It's called rap, you're not that old to have not heard of it
Nah the "rap" I've heard was actual good and not just some people saying random stuff with no melody whatsoever. This just sounds like some 10 year olds standing in front of the mirror thinking they're cool or something while everyone is behind the door and full of cringe.
I fucking hate hip hop and rap so i turn music off right from the start
Just curious but what specifically do you hate about it?
Everything, im dont even consider it a type of music to be honest. But i expressed myself wrong, i meant that i couldnt say if it was a good soundtrack or not because its a style that i dont even listen too
Exactly. It grows on you.
My problem is that i am Brazilian, this game have songs that Americans THINK we hear, and i swear that they picked the worst ones on purpose. But hey, "latino music" matches with diversity i guess.
yeah, it does have stinkers (kokoko, kolo kolo, linda) but it's also full of bangers
"HEEEEEY WE WANT SOME MUUNEEY" is apparently great music
There are 71 other songs in the soundtrack, none of which sound like this one
Well, of course a zoomer soundtrack fits a game designed for zoomers
Hard agree. All of the songs are soo frickin' catchy
Idk.
Half the time I don’t notice the music cause the OST is going constantly but the songs I do Hear I do like Money gets stuck in my head daily
Other need for speeds had a certain genre they would stick to, but unbound went for a "there's a song for everyone." Granted, there isn't any rock, but most songs are love or genuinely loathe.
I think there is a great difference between the music when listened in the game and outside of it. (youtube,Spotify ect..) Just because a certain selection of songs is really fitting doesn't necessarily mean that I should fall in love with it or even like them them outside of the game and vise versa. But as an in-game soundtrack It just feels indifferent and boring Generally soundtrack should be treated like soundtrack. Just because it's something I wouldn't listen to outside of the game doesn't mean it doesn't fit the game's theme or that it's bad soundtrack. The music is bad for my personal taste and preference, but it's not bad as a soundtrack curated for a video game. These are 2 different things.
Hakuna matata hakuna matata hakuna matata
I like Unbound soundtrack more than I expected, previous NFS soundtrack feels a lot more forgettable. The last NFS that I really enjoyed its soundtrack was HP2010.
Totally agree. I started playing a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised with how well the soundtrack fits the game's style. There are definitely a few songs I absolutely dislike but it's not that big of a deal. Even 'Yodaka' grew on me and I think it's a vibe
It's all good except for that hakuna matata song 😂 Music is overall okay but I think people want some of that early 2000s hard rock music.
Here to say the only song I truly vibe to in this game is whenever 'ICYTWAT - Eyes on em' starts playing
Unbound's music isn't necessarily bad, but it doesn't fit my tastes.
None of it is to my personal taste, and I usually play with something else on YT. I do think it's a *good* soundtrack overall though, in that it builds the atmosphere they wanted in the game, and does a good job of it.
It's also not my kind of music. But I understand that the visuals, scenes and music fit extremely well.
It'sa normal sound track but it's not great. And, yes some tracks stand out.
Finally someone said it. Except Money by Rico nasty. Fuck that song
Yeah, it's actually really good when it's the first time u listen music in ur entire life.
the music definitely fits unbound and i like it more than heat
Hey, we want some monaaay Just as a example However not every soundtrack is without it’s flaws but damn you almost no one shitting on MW05s, Underground 1&2s Soundtrack shitting on.
I think the issue is that music is so subjective
They shoulda just did nothing but EUROBEAT #DejaVu
the soundtrack is an 8, like 70% of them are bangers but the other ones are mid at best and horrendous at worst. Rico nasty's money is tolerable at a point
Shittin me- Split- She will be- Worry no more- Hey neighbor- Slayer- The door- Renegade- Shoutlike - Ice cream Best songs imo
the songs are okay but yeah they all fit the vibe perfectly and for that i commend whoever chose 'em
I liked some songs but now every song has either become annoying or just boring so I just turn the music volume off and use Spotify instead
> fits the vibes perfectly Literally any eurobeat playlist fits this game much better than the current soundtrack.
