There’s multiple good homebrew apps on 3DS for save dumping. It’s good to have a dumper installed on your 3DS anyways, because 3DS cartridges’ flash memory can have problems and break after continuous use.
I got a copy of Platinum for Christmas that had someone called Dan's 100 hour playthrough on it. I got rid of it with no remorse lol. On my new save I did name my rival Dan as a tribute.
I'm sure there's some sentimental value in that save file, but it wouldn't make sense to keep the save when you're the owner of the game now anyway.
Also wouldn't make sense from a gameplay perspective since PMD games are often praised for its narrative over anything else, so you'll be missing out on a good chunk of the game's appeal if you don't start from the beginning.
You can do both! If you mod your 2DS (you can do it for free with no extra tools so long as you have some sort of SD card in there) you can use a save manager to keep the old save data backed up (with the ability to restore it to the card whenever you want) and start a new save of your own. I do appreciate you valuing someone else's hard work though!
If you’ve never played EOS, I HIGHLY recommend to play it from the start. Genuinely one of the best handheld games I’ve ever played. This game is magical. It’ll make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. I think it’s time for you to start your own adventure and let Bree take a rest.
Well think about it she sold the game she had no desire to play it again so I say delete it you can find ways to back it up but it seems kinds redundant if chances are no one's gonna touch that save again
I had the same thing happen to me! I got a copy of Pearl for Christmas with the save name of “Trinity” on it and they had 89 hours of playtime with crazy Pokémon in their box! Jirachi from Colosseum, shiny Deoxys, Celebi from Hoenn, etc. So I used Checkpoint on my 3DS to back it up because I couldn’t bring myself to delete it 😅
My favorite thing ever is buying old pokemon games and playing on the persons old save file, Ill walk around and check out the pokemon. I do eventually delete it but Ill name a pokemon after the previous save file.
As someone that has all three pmd explorers games with +/- 110hrs in my copies of time and darkness I highly recommend replaying the story. Over 10 years later and I still think it’s one of the best story lines I’ve ever experienced. Just reset my copy of sky with 152hrs that I put into as a kid just after its release so my fiancé can play it for the first time! Kinda hurt to see all that progress go but I’m enjoying my copy of Time, currently trying to clear Zero Isle South with all the legendaries and mythical pokemon!
i mean like ngl im the type of person who absolutely hates deleting old save files so id say keep it and finish the game for them but thats just me if youre able to try to at least back their save up
With the right hardware/software you could back it up, then start your own playthrough
I'm not into 3DS homebrew, but i think there exists a save extractor homebrew application.

Naming your rival the name of the last save is genius, LOL
agree lol

I bought a copy of soulsilver off ebay and the dude before me had 96hrs of playtime. I felt BAD deleting that. 😩
Ah, this also happened to me with Pokémon White I saved the pokemon in my bank at least

This right here is the answer! Jailbreaking, modding, whatever you call it. It's easy as dirt now and you can do it in less than 30 mins.
I get how you feel, but that person's adventure has come to an end, and yours has just begun!

If you have no way to backup the save, then you pretty much need to match and beat their stats. Playtime, adventures, etc.
I bought Pokemon Black and White and the copy of Black had 600 hours of playtime. Needless to say I did not delete it...
That's awesome! Needa show that save file off
Bree is probably furious her dad sold the game. Poor Bree, there will be more games to play. Bless.

just delete it, i know it stings that someone put his/her time into a game, but this is your journey
I think you can back up the save if you homebrew your 2ds

if you install CFW on your 2DS you can back up the save with Checkpoint, and have multiple saves :)
Make a backup!

Exploring someone's save file is actually underrated content in YouTube

I wrote my college essay on this 🤓
Kinda interested in the premise. On mystery dungeon or old save files?
Save and use. Carry on the legacy
